I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Darjis,
I want to say it means nothing. What happening is the computer is so busy trying to load everything that the sound is not being outputted clearly. I had this same thing with Windows XP machines when hyperthread was turned on. No biggie. Machine will run fine.

Hi all,

I have a Eee 1005HA netbook and there is definitely something wrong with it. The computer freezes .often in an interval of a few seconds as it ifs loading. Other symptoms include high memory for a process that seems to be affected. Every once in a while in Task Maager under User Name, it shows strings such as -/r or /r, chinese or japanese characters, or random characters. I do not know what triggered this. I have not done anything unusual.

I posted about this in the "am I infected? what do i do?" forum to attack from that angle, but I'm beginning to think it's more of a resource issue. About a month ago, my computer began making a 'studdering' sound from its internal hardware. The computer would then freeze and the blue screen of death would appear. I downloaded and ran Kaspersky Virus Scan and that seemed to get rid of that issue. However, ever since, my laptop began running EXTREMELY slow. When I run anything with audio, a video or audio file, independent of whether its local on the harddrive or streamed from youtube, the sound studders uncontrollably for the first minute or so. After the first minute or so, the sound problems tend to resolve until the file changes or another location is streamed. It happens with system sounds as well as audio files.

I have my computer HD partitioned with Windows XP Home on half and Ubunutu linux on the other. The sound was working fine on the linux side until I downloaded the plugins for youtube. Now the sound does it on both side.

I know it's not a hardware issue, because the issue resolves. But it's very irritating for the first few minutes and when it studders the entire computer sometimes begins to freeze.

Since downloading Kaspersky (I have since uninstalled) there has been a general slowness to the laptop.

Steps I've taken:

I've run a series of virus scans from regular mode, not safe mode.

I've tried changing windows ... Read more

So Windows seems to be very unresponsive, slow, and buggy on my computer I've had for about 3 years now. It's done this the entire time I've had but I was too lazy to ask anyone to help me with this problem. Since school has started it's really pissing me off when I'm trying to get homework done.
Anyway, it has a very slow start up process, and during this the taskbar doesn't respond nor does the desktop and other things.
Then at random intervals it does exactly this (that isn't my video though). This also happens when I play a game, it just completely stops (and sometimes the sound repeats itself over and over again) and I have to wait until it becomes responsive again.
Now this is a problem I've had recently: It doesn't completely shutdown either. When I hit the shut down button and go to bed, I'll wake up in the morning and it still has the blue "Shutting down..." screen. So I have to forcefully shut it down by holding down the power button for 3 seconds.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or just Windows but it is super annoying (really).

Hi all,
I have an old dell dimension 1100 suffersing suddent drops in refresh rate. When the computer is turned on its clear of any issues. However after about an hour the computer starts to studder for a second or two, and then its fine again. After a coupple of hours the studder is so common the computer is unusable.
I've watched the system monitor and havn't noticed any fluctuations in the RAM or CPU when this studder occurs.
Can anyone tell me if this is the result of a hardware issues, and if so, what do I need to replace?
Or is it best to just build a new computer?
The computer is running windows XP sp3. Its primary function is data entry and running a POS system.
Any help is much appreciated,

I have found this BUG in Micrososft Word 2007, that I consider to be a SERIOUS ISSUE for Microsoft Office Suite.

If you copy an image from a website and paste in the Word file, the image pastes successfully the first time,
but as you go on & paste other images from the site,
the first image is repeated over and over again, in place of other images (which have the same dimensions).
All other text data remain same, the image titles remain same, but only the image is repeated over and over

PLZ SOMEONE...
HOW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM?

MY MICROSOFT WORD 2007 Spec:
Microsoft? Office Word 2007 (12.0.4518.1014) MSO (12.0.6514.5000)

Hi and welcome to SevenForums,
I would not advise pasting images in doc files like that,
I would use ms Paint to paste or save picture as
I would really recommend using the windows snipping tool to get the images that way no bugs are being transferred to the machine or programs,
Then use the Insert image option in word...
It's just a safer way to do an operation,
Cheers.

Hello newbiew, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Since you Microsoft account is synced by default, then it most likely automatically changed back after syncing.

If you wanted to have the same user account picture for all devices, then changing it for everything should help.

If you only wanted to change it on this PC, then you could turn off syncing for Appearance under "Personalization settings" using the tutorial below.

It turns out that if I download a picture file to the photo app in 8.1, without putting it in a particular pre-existing folder, the file goes into the general area of the app displayed alongside several other non-related pictures. Okay, no problem. But for the life of me, I can't figure out how to then move a single image file into one of the pre-existing folders I had created at an earlier time. If your suggestion is to open both the folder and the picture file side by side on the screen and then click and drag, I have no idea how to do that. Is there no way to right-click the image and find a way to select "move to", or something along those lines; or is there a pull-down menu that I can't find with the app open that contains a command to "move to"?
Any suggestions?
Thanks so much,

A:How to move a picture file on 8.1 to a picture folder...

Well, you have many options. What you are looking for is this:

Context Menu - Add Copy To Folder and Move To Folder - Windows 7 Help Forums

But you can just copy the pics and paste them into the folder you like.

The side by side is easy too. Just open the source folder and press WIN + Right arrow. Then open the target folder and press WIN + left arrow, Now you can drag and drop from one folder to the other.

It sounds like these are photo slideshow videos you are making in WMM? If so there's another free MS program to try called Microsoft Photo Story. Its a little more specifically aimed at making photo slideshows that you can then output as a video file and from there, make a CD or DVD.

This is certainly a new one to me. I'm trying to watch a few videos I downloaded. RealPlayer is playing the sound, but there's no picture! Could it have some to do with my settings? Or is this a new form of DRM? They are personal movies, not copyrighted stuff. So I doubt that's the problem. But you never know. Any ideas?
Bryan

A:Solved: No picture

UPDATE:
We can definately rule out the whole DRM thing. Because I just downloaded and watched the videos on my father's computer. And he has the same OS as me (Windows XP SP2). It's obviously my computer that's causing this. Incidentally, I'm also having trouble getting my AOL media player to play video. Again, it plays just fine on my father's computer. I've tried the obvious stuff (making firewall exceptions, changing preference settings within RealPlayer itself). What else can I check?
Bryan

ONE OTHER THING-
It seems to be mostly WM files that won't play the video (only sound). Please help me! This extremely frustrating for how much I've spent on this computer.

A:Solved: Picture

The problem is that you are trying to use a thumbnail in an icon only
area. This does not work. The desktop will only display Icons. It
will not display thumbnails.

If you want to change the folder icon to something else then you have
to change the icon in the customize area. Changing the thumbnail
image does nothing to the icon on the desktop. However once you
change the thumbnail image and then go to the desktop folder in
Explorer and choose to view thumbnails then you would see your custom
folder there. But you would still only see an icon on the desktop.

Could the re-installing of the software cause it to not even show the BIOS bootup screen? I'm totally lost as to what to do. Install another video card - I may have one still around somewhere?

Any help would be much appreciated. I'm not at home now but any advice will be taken when I get there this evening. I do have a second computer there so I can respond to any comments, questions, etc.

Thank you,
.....Gord

Hi, I have a Compaq running Vista Basic, and it has seemed to have created three Picture Folders for me.
The main one that I use is the usual one that I use is in C:\Users\Tadtheo\ the second one is located in the same location and seems to be a shortcut to the third. The third one located in C:\Users\Tadtheo\Documents. Everytime I attempt to delete the surplus Picture folders, they usually re-appear within a day or so.
The contents of the first are my photos while the latter are just sample pictures...

Can anyone help me remove these pesky folders they are really frustrating when trying to navigate to the right one.

Thanks.

You've helped me before big time, now I'm asking for your help again. I requested a signature on a forum and it's just what I wanted but they have my wrong name (Maggie instead of Peggy),and it's listed as a gif, but I can't pick it up as a gif, this is what I get when I click on it:
http://content.communities.msn.com/JustGifsTwo/mnames.msnw?Page=12
I'm the golfer Maggie. Is there any way one of you could change this name and make it into a gif so I can use it? If not able to chAnge the name, could you tell me how to retrieve it as a gif? It's important to know I have an internet appl, similar to a web tv, which has restrictions.
I'm so hoping someone can help, they assume on this board that everyone knows how to do this and I can't get an answer to my question.

How can you get a picture of your desktop without using a camera? Is there a special item you need? I can get a picture of my desktop by using the printer button on my keyboard but then I have to print the item, scan it and put it in a folder. Is there an easier way to do this? I am using Windows XP home edition.

I think I understand. Try this:

On your keyboard, click the Prt Scr, then open MsPaint, by clicking Start > click MSPaint > and when it opens, click paste. Your desktop screenshot should be there, now. Go to File in MSPaint and click Save As and then type the name of the screenshot and save to your Hard Drive ie. C:/My Documents/My Pictures and whatever folder you want it to be saved in. In the type of file, I usually save as a .gif or .jpg file type.

Is this a free piece of software???

If so, where can one download it from?

Thanks.

A:Solved: Picture It Express!

Worked it out. It was on CD 2 of the Works 2000 suite.

I couldn't install it directly from the MSPie folder on CD2 as it was trying to install IE5 and then it quit the install process.

What you have to do is run the setup from CD1 and just choose the componets you need. Just ignore any error messages about IE5.

It would appear you still need the correct codec. What type of file are you trying to play?

I'm scanning picture for my parents and I've gotten to the point of scanning prints. I've been using a piece of cardboard (of which I measure to a fraction of an inch) to try to align the image in the scanner bed. It works to a point. But, there are images that are curled up and end up out of position once the cover is closed. Also, the prints were never properly align when they were made. I know of image programs that allow you to rotate the image so that it is properly aligned. But, I find them cumbersome in terms of precision (they didn't have grids or such that I could align with). Is there a program that you can have a grid to line up the picture with or even a way that you could place two points on the picture and the program automatically lines the picture up according to the two points?
