Buying a replacement notebook battery

Q: Buying a replacement notebook battery

When I boot, I get the HP Battery Alert (error 601) advising me to buy a replacement battery. However, on checking the HP parts store, I don't seem to be able to purchase the correct battery (part number 710417-001). Is there any way to purchase a replacement battery from HP (I'm in the UK)?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So recently I've been having trouble with my battery and there are issues with it so I have been taking the battery out and using my charger constantly. However, since Christmas time is almost here: I'd like to put the right battery on my list.  Here is the type of Laptop I have: HP 15-d035dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) The type of Battery I have is apparently a 3-cell lithium-Ion (Li-Ion), 2.8Ah, 31Wh .  I looked on HP about replacing this battery, but it is out of stock. So I searched online and found a cheaper version of this battery, only the battery says 4-cell rather than 3. If I buy this, will it not work?  Also when I found out the "746641-001" part, I found it on the back of my battery itself where it says "spare battery" so I'm hoping I have the right number.  the website I am thinking of getting the 4-celled battery from is Walmart the product information looks like this: "Superb Choice 4-cell HP 746641-001 Laptop Battery" Will this be okay to buy? Please reply ASAP because I need to finish making a list of things to get!  Thank You!

Lots of "compatible" replacement batteries on eBay India: http://www.ebay.in/itm/Hako-Laptop-battery-for-HP-Pavilion-Sleekbook-14-1000-14-2099-695192-001-/322155524629?hash=item4b01f73215:g:56IAAOSw3YNXZEIH I could not find an original genuine battery on any of the India sites I know of. The compatible batteries are very attractively priced and generally reliable. I still try to buy genuine if I can for newer model laptops but have purchased compatible batteries quite frequently for older laptops where cost is an issue and have generally had a good experience.

Hello,I want to buy a replacement battery for my notebook, as the one I have right now doesn't hold much charge anymore. The model of the notebook is an HP Pavilion dv7-6b80ec. On the pages of your authorized HP part sellers i found these two batteries, which should be compatible, however I don't know which one to choose. You do not sell the battery in your official store. If these batteries are not compatible, can you please show me one that is? I live in the Czech Republic, so the store should ship here. These are the links to the batteries I found on your Authorized partner's page: http://cz.eetgroup.com/i/593562-001-HP-Inc.-Battery-6-Cell-2.8Ahhttp://cz.eetgroup.com/i/MBI2134-MicroBattery-48wh-HP-Laptop-Battery I also took some photos of the original battery, if that could help. the battery on my Acer 5920g is in need of replacement. The one I have is rated at 10.8 volts but the replacements are often 14.8 volts. I queried this with a supplier and they said it was compatible. It doesn't sound right to me. Would someone clear it up for me please?

There seem to be 2 different voltage batteries around, one is 14.8 Volts the other is 11.1 Volts !

Recently purchased HP 15-fo18dx Notebook and I was curious as to what the battery replacements options might be. Why is it such a challenge finding a common reference for a replacement battery?  I would imagine that thousands of these and like models were sold yet I can't even figure what HP Series this model is which most battery locator sites look for.  The battery Part #752237-001 which I found on the data sheet doesn't even show up on the HP Store site nor any other battery site. Is there not some common reference for this battery? Any input would be apperciated, Thanks

Again, Thanks for your reply and the info. Still very confusing and it appears that HP may be the only source for these batteries but at least I know where to find when the time comes. BTW, the battery model identified is the 4 cell version, HP does not have the 3 cell version available.  I would guess the 4 cell version is better. Thanks Again

Hi there, I am looking for  a replacement batter for a HP ENVY 17-j184na Notebook PC. I replaced the original one which burned out with a 4400mAh six cell battery. The battery life for this is barely an hour out of the charger. I am looking for a replacement battery that is either:- 6-cells and higher mAh, or,- preferably, a 9 or 12 cell battery. Can I take it that all Envy 17 PC's do not have the same type of battery, and that I shouldn't look at one that just advertises Emvy 17 batteries? Any help on finding an effective replacement would be really greatly appreciated. Best regards, Josemacphisto

I am trying to find a replacement battery that doesnt suck for this laptop. I have owned the laptop for about 18 months and the battery is just dead. Wont charge at all. I only used the laptop on battery power a handful of times, the rest of the time it was plugged in and running on wall power. So I am really baffled by why this thing is dead when it has barely been used. I would like to find a replacement that is better than the one that HP tries to sell as a replacement as it has terrible reviews.

Hi, I hope someone can help me figure out what to buy. First I don't have any experience with computers. I have an old Pentium 4 desktop that is 14 years old. I would like to replace it. I would like to know, should I buy pre-built or buy the different parts and let the store assemble it for me? My budget is $850-$900. I currently have a HP Pavilion 20xi monitor that I bought last summer on sale I love it! I want to keep this monitor. I know I need to get a new tower and a wireless mouse and a wireless keyboard that is compatible with this monitor. I use the computer to check emails, pay bills, look up information, surfing the net stuff, watch videos, listen to music, watch movies, play my cds and dvds, play free downloadable games from sites like gamehouse games, use MS Office, read newspaper, magazines, getting information, things of that nature. Can anyone suggest what to buy exactly? And is my budget too low, do I need to up the limit? All help is welcomed.

Hello there!
(I'm new to this forum, so I apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong place.)

With the holidays coming up and Cyber Monday coming within a few days, I was hoping to get some help figuring out which parts on my computer to upgrade for a new gaming tower that I purchased recently. After I purchased the tower, I realized upon receiving it that some of my current parts would not be compatible with it. I haven't been able to use it since I got it in the mail and I thought now would be a good time to look into getting new parts that are compatible with it, mainly a new motherboard and (if necessary) processor. I'm not totally new to the experience of installing new computer components, but I do have a difficult time finding the right parts that will work with all my existing parts for a good and affordable price.

Anyway, the tower I purchased recently is the Phantom 410 by NZXT (https://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/95-phantom-410-mid-tower-case.html)

Here are the tech specs for the tower (which are also available on the link I posted earlier):

I will be buying a new note book soon and I am not which processor to get (based on Price/Performance/battery life). I know a bit about desktop processors, but all most nothing about notebook CPUs.

I've been looking at getting either the AMD Athlon64 mobile 3700+, Mobile Turion 64 MT-37, or the MT-40. Which do you think would be best.

This notebook will be used for mainly office applications/media, and light gaming.

A:Buying new notebook;AMD MT-37 or MT-40?

I love my AMD Athlon 64 Mobile 3700. Athough I don't think you need anything that strong for you're purpose. You may want to look at a low-end Turion CPU, as it is perfect for offices/small gamming use. Also will perseve the battery life.

May you post the laptops you are you looking at.

Please post back.

I'm planning on purchasing a laptop to use as I head off to college this September. I've done some research on various possible notebook hardware, such as the processors and video cards available for them. Such information is harder to come across than the desktop hardware, that much I learned.

However, I have one major issue which I am currently unsure of. That is, which processor should I choose? I've looked up some information on the Turion 64, the Mobile Athlon 64, and the Pentium M. From all indications, the Pentium M offers the best performance and battery life. Though I am supportive of AMD's products, as a consumer, I'm purchasing on functionality. The Turion 64 seems to be somewhat of a disappoint as far as giving the Centrino platform true competition. Virtually no manufacturer offers the MT versions of the Turion 64, which is about the only offerings I will consider thanks to it's lower power use. Nearly everyone uses the ML versions and the only MT offering I have seen is limited to the rather slower than desired 1.6 ghz model. The Mobile Athlon 64 has also tickled my interest, but I am somewhat concerned about its power drain and its overall efficiency compared to the Turion 64. I will be using this laptop for school mainly, but I do plan to do occasional gaming, and of all the manufacturers I've checked, the AMD offerings are paired up with the ATI integrated Radeon 200M solutions, which leaves much to be desired. It's only in Beta, and with M$ 'reputation' for testing, it won't be ready for normal 'consumption' for at least that long. Let others find all the bugs first.

Hi guys.

I want to buy a new notebook for college use probably 4 hours a day (but not 4 consecutive), something durable enough that lasts 5 years. My usage is like internet, movies, light gaming (CS Source, COD, Prototype, Fifa) and the regular apps and softwares like photoshop, movie maker, virtualdj and I do use torrents occasionally. I'll probably go for Windows 8 given the lack of new windows 7 notebooks - don't know if it's only in India.

According to this usage description (do tell if I need to elaborate) can you please suggest if I'm in the right direction. So far I've thought of this; CPU is i3-3227u or i3-3120m or i3-3110m (pls advice which is best and why) 4 GB RAM, GPU is 1 GB radeon or nvidia, HDD 0.5-1TB, Brand lenovo, dell, hp, samsung (if you've used aany of these brands let me know about your experience). I live in India and I'm going to buy from a local retailer. Budget is $700

I've seen these notebooks
Lenovo Ideapad Z580 (59-370239)
Dell Inspiron 15R (i3-3227U 4GB, 500GB, 1GB Radeon)
Samsung NP350E5C-S01IN

Thanks in advance

A:Need advice for buying a new Notebook

Is that $700 USD or Rupee? Try to get at least 8GB of DDR3 RAM 4GB is not enough. 3GB with the OS and 2GB free after apps. i3 is okay make sure that is 2GHz the lowest 1.7GHz. GPU 512MB min 1GB mid or 2GB high. HDD 320 to 750GB. With the price range you have you can get some really nice here.

Hello friends,
I am planning to buy a Notebook and need some help from you experts.

Best buy is selling Medion - 2200+ Notebook for 899 with about 265 in mail in rebates.
Has anyone used this brand before. It's new in US but has been around in europe for quite some time.

This notebook with te three year performance plan will be about 850.

The other option is Compaq - Presario Notebook with Intel® Centrino?

This one will be close to 1100 with the three year performance plan.

Planned use:
mostly to be used by my wife when I am using the desktop at home. But I woul be doing presentations and graphics intensive work on it as well when I am using it.

The medion has the following things less than Compaq:
AMD Vs Centrino
30 gig Vs 40gig
PCIMCI card neede Vs wireless ready
14.1" Vs 15.4"

128KB L1 cache + 512KB L2 Vs 1.0MB on die Level 2

S3 Savage 8 GFX (UMA) Vs ATI Mobility RADEON 9200

Everything else is pretty much identical.

128KB L1 cache + 512KB L2 Vs 1.0MB on die Level 2 What exactly does this mean in speed and multi tasking.

Thanking you all in advance.

I'd recommend a dell myself, as their service and support is wonderful. you can usually get a similar computer after rebate/promotion from Dell for the same price, you just have to keep and eye on their deals. hot deals forums like http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/categories.cfm?catid=18 are great for that. sorry i couldn't be of more help, but i saw you didnt get any responses and thought i'd share.

Do you actually have to buy one of these? I wouldn't recommend a generic cheap-*** laptop like these to anyone. It is better to buy an older business class model from a decent brand than watch that chinese lump of plasitc fall apart after three months.

Considering these two laptops..

So which 64-bit applications are you planning to use?
The first machine doesn't have wireless? I hope that is a typo on your part..
I would take the first one if it had wireless. If not, the second for sure.

My wife has a two-year-old Samsung notebook. Recently when she unplugged it the machine cut off, even though the battery said 79% charged (it wouldn't charge any further). I figured that the battery was bad so I bought another one from Amazon.

This one charges to 100% percent and does exactly the same thing. I'm perplexed but think there's something going on with the motherboard that won't let it use battery juice, even if Windows 8.1 says it's 100% charged.

I've tried the hold the power button down for 1 min with the battery out trick to no avail.

Any ideas? I'm stumped and think I might need to get her another notebook.

Thanks, Robert

Hey everyone I am buying a new battery for my Hp Compaq 6735s Laptop.

The standard battery I got with the laptop is: 10.8V - 47 Wh - 4200mAh
The one I am looking at buying is: 10.8V - 5200mAh
Battery for Hp Compaq 6720s 6730s 6735s 6820s 6830s NEW - eBay (item 230508215312 end time Aug-08-10 20:52:22 PDT)

They don't specify the Wh (Watt Hours).

The model code I have on my battery is: HSTNN-OB51 451086-3632

Can anyone tell me if that would work with my Laptop? Like will it hurt my laptop if it's a 5200mAh instead of a 4200mAh?

The battery looks exactly the same as mine but mine weighs 339g that one is 479g. Mine is dead so I guess it should be less right?

Thanks heaps for any help!

A:Question on buying a new Battery...

4200mAh means 4200 milliampere hours (or 4.2 ampere hours). 4.2 X 10.8 gives about 45 Wh. I can't answer why it's not 47.

The 5200 mAh should give you 56 wH. It's not unsual for third-party batteries to have higher ratings than the manufacturer's battery, as well as being cheaper.

The eBay battery weighs more than the OEM one because it has more stuff in it. Batteries may not lose weight when they die.

It should work OK with the laptop. Some people shy away from third-party batteries because they are afraid that their compatibility claims will be false.

Should be OK, but the choice is yours. You may not get a reliability report from someone else who bought exactly the same battery.

I have to replace the battery on a toshiba L355-S7915 laptop. Which battery is better? The Toshiba battery or the B-5040H from battery-biz. anyone use battery biz?

A:Battery Replacement Toshiba OEM or Battery-Biz

Could you provide links?
I think with batteries the big thing is Watt/Hours. (Don't quote me on that tho)
You might be better off using the same battery as the one you had before, simply for the sake of reliability.
It also will depend on what you use this laptop for.

Hi everyone, I bought an x260 coded 20F60097US with default battery configuration of 3 cell internal (45N1111, made by SON)+ 3 cell external (45N1127 made by LGC).  I would like to get an extra 6-cell, 72Wh. According to : https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/x260_frubom_20160127.pdfI have 5 options. I looked up them on encompass and saw only 2 available, 1 in stock, 1 currently out of stock and will be available in Jul 13.https://lenovo.encompass.com/item/10632737/Lenovo/45N1738/Ba_Rechargeable_Batterieshttps://lenovo.encompass.com/item/10692595/Lenovo/45N1737/Ba_Rechargeable_Batteries They are made by PAN and LGC. I am wondering if I can use 45N1738 with my system, the one is currently in stock ?  And a side question is that I bought my x260 from amazon, would I be qualified for Lenovo warranty ? According to : http://psref.lenovo.com/Detail/ThinkPad_X260?M=20F60097US, it says 3-years warranty. Thank you,

So, how does one get a replacement?

Hi: I just purchased the 15-ay041wm (Product X0H86UA) and I am trying to replace the 1TB HDD with a Samsung 850 EVO. I followed the instructions on the Maintenance & Service Guide pages 52-53 regarding removal of bottom cover. However, after removing all 11 Phillips PM2.5 screws (including the two under the rubber bumpers), I can't pry open the bottom cover from computer (or don't know how to). It seems like it is glued or that there may be other screws. Can't find video on Internet. Do I need any special tool or special trick to pry it open? I thank you in advance for your assitance.

i have a ibm thinkpad 600E. my cd rom has suddenly stopped working. everytime i put a cd rom into the drive, a message comes back that the drive is not ready. some people have mentioned that perhaps the lens that reads whether a cd rom has been installed has worn out and i may need to replace the whole cd rom. does anyone have any suggestions on how i may be able to get my existing cd rom repaired or replaced?

A:finding a replacement notebook cd rom

My first thought is that the 600E came with a 3-year warrenty. You may be able to get this replaced under warrenty and save yourself some expence. Try calling the following number, it will put you in contact with IBM EasyServ: 800-772-2227. You will need your serial and model number (they are located under the machine on a small decal with a barcode on it). If it is still under warrenty, they will arrange to have the unit sent in for repair. They usually are very fast and you should have the computer back in three days or less.

If it is not, you should be able to buy a new one directly from IBM, the part number is 05k9068. You may also buy one here http://www.acsparts.com/thinkpads/thinkpad_data/cdroms.html, but the part number will be 05k9067. You could also shop around in the internet, these should be available from several sources.
Sorry, that part number was for the DVD drive, the par number for the CDROM is: 05k8994

As you know my laptop (#2) is getting outdated as time flies.
I need to upgrade it too a newer laptop soon, but it's not soon as i know intel core 2 duo have been hangin around for 1/2 a year. I know that i MUST wait until the successor of intel centrino core 2 duo come by the end of this year.
Deadline for myself to use this old laptop is up to end 2007.

What i've found is this : Intel mobile processor Gilo - 65 nm, multi-core (Q4 2007)*

Since windows vista is booming out and i think i'll be using both vista and xp on a same "future" notebook, i decided to take a look at current product, especially the mobile graphic card.

AFAIK, ATIX2X00 series and nVidia 8X00 series are the only series which is "windows vista certified" or "DirectX 10" compatible. But the problem is that both of the mobile gpu are going to be released about Q2 or Q3 2007*.
I'm only interested in 8600 and x2600 or higher as x2300 is a low-end card.

I've been offered a new laptop but i refused to upgrade because of these reasons.

My question is :
Are the abovelisted roadmap are true?
I mean is the intel gilo is released in Q4 and ATI R600 is released before Q4?

It's because i'm confused whether to buy a new laptop this June or this November... I only have this 2 months chance to buy a laptop cause of private reason.

I hope anyone will give me some description. I really2 need confirmation when will be intel gilo and ati r600 come out, be... Read more

A:Notebook Replacement in 2007

Sorry about your TravelMate.. Got my ThinkPad in Nov 2004 and it's still going stong

No roadmaps are true. That's why they are called roadmaps. Also, paper specs are nothing but glorified wishful thinking by the manufacturer. Don't trust anything that isn't out there for real. There can be delays, manufacturing issues, limited supply to select partners, astronomical pricetags, unexpected performance issues, driver problems..

Whether to buy something now or wait for a while.. Do you need a new laptop now or only after a while? If you waited three years, you could get something amazingly fast
