Device Update Problem

Q: Device Update Problem

I have 2 devices in my Device Manager listed in other devices both called Base System Device, and the location of the device is in PCI bus 3, device 1, function 2, and the manufacturer is unknown and when I try to update them Windows can't find driver software for them. Is there any way I can find out what the device is so that I can update it?

Preferred Solution: Device Update Problem

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

What is the make and full model name of your motherboard? Do you have any cards installed in any of the slots, and if so, what are they?

I updated after the announcement of the fingerprint scanner security breach, and now the reader isn't attached. The BIOS won't reset it, saying that the device is not attached. Yes, I suppose I could be having a hardware problem, but it's a huge coincidence that this happened the day that I responded to the security problem by updating. After nothing else worked, I followed someone's suggestion of deleting the Synaptics WBDI driver in Device Manager and rebooting, but that accomplished nothing other than leaving me with no device driver. BIOS still says no device attached.

Dear Dell,
Yesterday my laptop Inspiron 14- 5459 was automatically updated with Windows 10- creators update. After successful updating and restart, I was working for some time on the laptop.  Then I tried restarting the laptop. The laptop didn't restart properly. It kept on showing the black screen post dell logo display. I tried repairing the windows using the windows 10 Home edition 64 bit recovery medium and even after installing it, no boot device message is displayed. Previously before repairing the window, when epsa diagnosis was run, no hard ware issue were found.
Can you please let me know how resolve this. My service tag has technical support in warranty. Can someone call. And clarify.
Thanks in advance.

Hi people.
So heres my problem, i was playing this game called Grand Chase, And i was trying to find a driver to play it, and i found this one called Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator Driver, and after i installed it , i started the game and i could play it, but it made my pcs icons, words and another stuff big, the size of the icons aumented, so i tried to install this other one called Nvidia, but when i tried to start the game it said "This game doesnt support your 3d", i deleted the Nvidia one and tried to install the old one but when i tried to install it, this message appeared :

Non-Intel device detected. Please contact the device manufacturer for possible updates.

What am i supposed to do?

i was playing that game with that driver the Intel one, but when i try to re-install it again that message appears.

A:Non-Intel device detected. Please contact the device manufacturer for possible update

The obvious answer is to use the correct driver.

But since you didn't tell us anything about your hardware thats going to make it impossible for us to tell you what you need to download.

Hi there,  I would really appreciate help in relation to this ongoing error. I am prompted by Vantage on regular basis to update the SSD firmware from 6L7Q to 7L7Q. Using Lenovo Storage firmware update tool 1.103. Fails every time, has been like this for months so I am not expecting an auto update fix.  Tries to do it, gets to reboot, and then the error below appears.  "software condition is not ready to update due to some condition" I have also downloaded from Lenovo website manually, and have run the zipped version, with same result. I have looked up Samsung SSD drivers directly and there is no options for this drive. Has anyone had similar issue? Please let me know if you have a fix.  Many thanks.

Since updating to Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit (latest version), in File Explorer listed under Computer I see my other PC's but I no longer see devices like my Synology NAS etc. All PC's and devices are connected using ethernet cables via switches.

The devices still appear in File Explorer on my other Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit (latest version) PC under Computer so the problem seems to be on the first PC rather than my Asus router.

I just tried putting the name of the devices (\\diskstation etc) in the address bar of File Explorer and with one of the devices I got error 0x80004005 so I ran the trouble shooter and got this error:-

Problem found
The remote device or resource won't accept the connection               Detected            !
Detailed Information
The device or resource (FOXSAT-HDR) is not set up to accept connections on port "The File and printer sharing (SMB)".

I've tried disabling AVG virus software, Windows Firewall and my Asus Router firewall but it makes no difference
sfc /scannow was OK

The Network Adapter has had the latest driver installed.
I've hunted high and low for a solution, I went through this thread very closely ( https://tinyurl.com/p9gk9sn ) but still no solution ... HELP

Every time I try to update PXI Hardware HID Complaint Device in windows update I get error code 80070020.
I disabled my antivirus and tried updating it again didn't help. Do any of you have any solutions that will most likely work

A:I can't update PXI Hardware HID Complaint Device in windows update

This appears to be a process-share error.
I suspect that you may have multiple instances of the same process running and Windows is getting confused.
This is sometimes the case with Malware, and sometimes a problem with an AV - but there are other causes.

What AV is currently installed? What other Security software is installed?

See the advice here Windows Update error 80070020 - Windows Help
follow that, and post back with the results.

If you're still unable to install the updates,
Please follow the Windows Update Posting Instructions and post the requested data
If the file is too large (8MB compressed), remove the older CBSPersist cab files until the final file is below the limit - you can always post them separately after zipping them. (the forum doesn't allow the upload of bare CAB files, for a number of reasons)

What is the most efficient way to ensure that all device drivers are up to date? I am nervous about updating any drivers for fear of screwing up my laptop which seems to be running just fine. Thoughts?

Also, there is a product, Device Doctor, that claims to identify and download updated drivers. Is this product safe? Can I rely on this product 100%?

A:Best way to update device drivers?

my laptop which seems to be running just fine. Thoughts?Yes, my thought is if it is running fine why would there be any need to "update" drivers? Drivers don't have a use-by date. Video drivers are the main ones that will be continually updated by manufacturers, to deal with reported issues, game compatibility and the bugs that occur because they are being updated so frequently. In contrast, drivers for many other devices have been stable for a long time and are not subject to continual development.Like BIOS updates, if a system shows no sign of having problems, there is seldom a great requirement for driver updates. Unfortunately, some driver finder programs have entered into the snake oil realm inhabited by registry cleaners, and alarm users by insisting their drivers are "out of date". Often this is simply because the driver in question has been stable since the computer was made.Especially with laptops (since they are more proprietary), drivers are best obtained from the manufacturer's support website. Even with video drivers, updates are often mainly for gaming performance, and for everyday and business use it's more important to have stability. With video drivers, this can mean it's actually better to have an older, proven version rather than a "cutting edge" release.

A:wd ses device in the important update

I didn't get one. Did you install the SSD or did it come with your PC? If you installed it, it could be that the drivers from your old(possibly a WD?) and any registry keys are picked up by Windows update. I've noticed with Ccleaner, it shows a program that is already uninstalled sometimes in Cleaner Applications tab. I then have to go into the registry and do a recursive search for left over keys so it will stop showing up.
Or are you using an USB HDD?

The Microsoft® .NET Framework version 1.1 includes ASP.NET Mobile Controls that enable developers to easily create mobile Web applications. Developers can write and maintain a single application that targets multiple devices. The mobile controls deliver markup language specifically adapted for each browser that accesses the application. ASP.NET Mobile Controls originally shipped in the Microsoft Mobile Internet Toolkit.

For more specific information about the list of supported devices, see Microsoft Mobile Internet Toolkit and ASP.NET Tested Devices.

Microsoft provides device updates to address and respond to the rapid development of new devices, browsers, and markup languages in the wireless industry. Microsoft develops the updates using the extensibility features available in ASP.NET. When you install a device update, the setup program (dupdate.exe) replaces information in the "browserCaps" section of the Machine.config file and adds entries for new adapters, if necessary.

For detailed installation instructions and information about maintaining Machine.config files, see the device update documentation. Device updates are also available for the Microsoft Mobile Internet Toolkit.

Since a few years i'm the happy owner of an Asrock ION 330 HT PC. I use it for that purpose, Home Theatre PC. When i bought it, it came with Windows 7 installed, and a working IR remote control (Media Center green button type of remote).

I updated Windows 7 to Windows 8, with everything working fine. However, since the update to Windows 8.1, my IR Remote stopped working. Device-manager now describes it as an 'unknown device'. When I have device manager search for updated drivers it says :

Last night I plugged into my computer my USB storage device to access some files and up came:

The computer had been on standby for an hour so I reckon this could be the problem but I tried all the remedies I could find: unplugged, switched off, leave for 5 minutes, reboot, etc. It did not work.

I've tried almost everything. So I went to bed and 8 hours later rebooted and plugged in my USB storage device and lo ah behold! "USB NOT RECOGNIZED"

So I phoned my dad and he said that I had to reinstall the chipset drivers and update the BIOS.

I don't like messing with the BIOS and I know nothing about installing any "chipset drivers".

What should I do?

Now I let the install do all the drivers. I know the board came with a disk when I purchased it several years ago. I would like to upgrade to whatever USB, Ethernet and SATA updates and versions that it supports, now.
I do not wish to degrade, my now functioning system by blindly doing anything. Can someone advise me how to check the current states of these devices and how to upgrade safely and intelligently.

What's going on here. That composite device dc3d should not effect your cd/dvd drive should it? What do I need to do? Really, that drive has removable media since you can burn things to dvd/cd and remove them. Looks like something is wrong here.

I've been doing some checking and it looks like this may have fixed the cofiguration I have had all along. A cd/dvd drive SHOULD show as "devices with removable storage". It had always shown as a hard drive. Tell me if I'm wrong.

I've had this problem before and I don't know how it ultimately got resolved, but my PC is booting up as a mobile device, and it does not recognize my GTX 980 GPU. My GTX 980 is listed in the device manager, and is said to be working properly, but I obviously beg to differ.

How can I fix this?

EDIT: I actually fixed it by resetting my CMOS. On my motherboard, there's a CLR CMOS button on the back. I really have no idea how this happened in the first place, but it seemed to have happened after an update.

The number of drivers available from the official Acer driver download page for my computer the 6930G, is quite limited so, for instance, to get the latest Intel WiFi Link 5100 AGN driver I downloaded and installed the latest generic Proset Wireless version for Windows 7, 18.40.0 from Intel's site. However, the 5100 AGN driver version in device manager has not changed, and is still, but according to Intel, Proset wireless version 18.4.0 should update this to

When I update drivers from Acer's official page the device manager shows the newer versions.

Anyway, I'd really appreciate some help on this. Thanks in advance.

I've been fighting with a laptop repair for a couple days and have got nowhere! My head is being minced and can't think of a way forward now.

So I've discovered three problems with this laptop and think they all might be related?
Windows Update not working with error 0x80070057 - I have searched the internet for help on this and tried suggestions like; starting/stopping wuauserv service, deleting WinUpd cache.
System Restore not working; unable to create restore points or restore (the last point is from November), this gives error 0x81000101 Shadow Copy Timeout. Again searched and tried fixing all suggestions like making sure the SysRestore services are running.
Device Manager is completely blank; also tried suggested repairs like setting correct permissions on Enum folder in registry.
On top of the problem specific fix attempts I've also done the following general fixes:
sfc /scannow - found problems but unable to fix
repaired registry from RegBack
reset all Services to default
ran combofix and malwarebytes
chkdsk /r
removed McAfee
have checked Windows & Sytem32 folder for correct user permissions
I'm sure I've done a few other things but can't recall everything I've tried.

Have also tried Windows Repair but stays at "Checking Compatibilty" for hours.

Generally Windows seems to be fine except for these three issues; system is quick and general useage is without issues.

Any ideas from a fresh look would be helpful... Read more

A:Win Update, Sys Restore & Device Manager not Working

Have you attempted to do a system restore from Safe Mode?

Just completed anniversary update and I find Device Manager shows one "Other Device": "Unknown Device", with Hardware ID of "WsAudioDevice-383(1)". From other research I gather this is connected with Realtek Audio. Update Driver doesn't work!

Only 2 of my 5.1 speakers appear to be working (by testing in Realtek HD Audio Manager) and I am not hearing other Windows sounds like USB Device Connecting/Deconnecting.

(Apologies if this is posted elsewhere... I looked but did not find!)

Any ideas?

UPDATE: Resolved my audio problems by updating Realtek High Definition Audio drivers through Device Manager. Then got rid of the unknown device by uninstalling it, then re-scanning for hardware changes. It did not re-appear!

Hi everyone,

The problem I have is really strange. I updated my BIOS from my computer manufacturer's homepage. After doing so, I had to reboot my pc. However, once my pc rebooted, a similar message as the following appeared: Press F8 to select boot device. If I would not press F8 my pc would not start up at all. Yet, when I pressed F8 it gave me a list of boot devices to select from. I selected the HDD drive, which in the end worked out perfectly, since i could restart my computer without any problems.

So you guys might wonder now why I am posting this here, if there is not a problem. Well, every time I start up my pc it asks me to press F8 and start up my pc from the specific boot device. I have managed to make my pc reboot automatically, without having to press F8 every single time.

However, how can I remove the F8 screen from showing up?

Before I run the BIOS update it never said press F8 to select boot device.
Is there any way to remove this screen or skip it? It is really annoying and delaying my computer start up.
Thank you very much in advance!

A:BIOS update changed boot device! HELP

Most likely the boot drive is not on the default controller, you'll need to set the boot drive in the bios save and exit.

What brand and model PC?

After the newest update on May 21, I get that message when I plug in my phone to my laptop. The phone will charge, but it will not connect to the computer. The phone does not have a problem because when I plug it into my old computer running Vista, it works fine. Since I use my phone as a modem to connect to the internet, I can't get online with that computer in order to download anything. I tried to do a system restore, but that failed. I undid the updates, but still get the same message. I'm afraid the update changed something and I don't know how to fix it. I see numerous threads all over the internet saying this is a common problem. I am not very tech savvy. I have tried several of the things mentioned such as restarting computer and removing battery for hard boot, but nothing has helped. Help!

Hi, 1 week ago I applied the latest Windows 10 1809 updates to my G710 device.Next morning I had a blue screen. Then started to boot again and ended up in "no bootable device". I checked the disk (it is fine, data is there, but boot record may be destroyed). This morning i tried to reinstall Windows 10 again from USB stick, but drive was not detected. InsydeH20 Setup Utility shows:Hard Disk:   [Not Detected] Any ideas what could be wrong? Thanks and best regardsMichael

Greetings all,

I have a AMD 4250 mobility graphics card and am trying to update the drivers for it.

Am unable to use the installer from AMD as I get the "INF not found" error but the files are extracted by the installer to the correct location the step before hand so I try to install them through device manager and I can find the driver either by browsing to the correct folder or by using the 'browse installed drivers' method but in doing so I receive an error "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it" - Name of driver - "There is no driver selected for the device information set or element"

The only option have I have is to close. I get this error by using either method of finding the driver that I mentioned. If I select for Windows to search Windows update to find the correct driver, I am given the option for an even older driver!

Thanks in advance for any thoughts or ideas

I'm very 'computer savvy' so if you need to ask for any details or diagnostics etc I will be able to provide with no problem

A:Unable to update graphics drivers from device manager

Hi Alex.

Is this for the laptop in your specs? If so, you should get the graphics drivers from HP, rather than directly from AMD. They may install better that way. Usually with a laptop, the OEM drivers are the best fit because manufacturers often put little tweaks into the hardware, and the manufacturer's drivers account for that. I learned that the hard way with my Toshiba laptop.

One thing about Windows Update. It might be finding an older driver, but it is probably the most correct for the laptop. I know it seems counter intuitive, but OEMs don't usually release many versions of drivers, and often an older driver is the best fit. Is there a reason that you need the newest AMD drivers? Like a game that won't work right, or something?

Relevant Computer Specs:
This is a PC not a Laptop, and I always have my HDMI connection connected

Processor - AMD A8-5500

Graphics - Amd Radeon hd 5700 Series

OS - Windows 8.1 64 bit
After a windows update this morning (not the update from 8 to 8.1) I no longer have an HDMI playback device listed in my sound options. I have since updated both my Graphics card drivers and my processor drivers, my realtec driver, and downloaded an Auto-detect driver updater from AMD just to make sure. When that didn't work I uninstalled my audio driver in my device manager, rebooted my computer, let the computer re-install the audio driver, and still nothing. All I show as playback devices are Speakers, Headphones, and 2 Digital Audio (S/PDIF). I have show connected and disconnected both checked at this screen. Any suggestions, I am really at my wits end with this? This did happen to me after I updated from 8 to 8.1 but re-installing drivers fixed the issue, but that is not working this time.
