Printer asks for manual feed paper only when trying to print from the computer?

Q: Printer asks for manual feed paper only when trying to print from the computer?

SOLVEDPrinter asks for manual feed paper only when trying to print from the computer?

The computer at work copies, scans and accepts faxes just fine but when I go to print from microsoft word it asks for a manual paper feed, if manually fed it will print. What the heck? We want it to use the auto paper feed like it does every other time. I updated the drivers with no improvement.

Samsung scx-4623f

This computer was riddled with viruses before I started working here maybe thats the problem I dont think so though.

Its not just mic word it does the same thing via int explorer print job.

You have to select try one instead of auto select in the paper option.

OK this worked for a day the same problem is back any advice?

Changed the printer paper size seems to be working.

Preferred Solution: Printer asks for manual feed paper only when trying to print from the computer?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Printer asks for manual feed paper only when trying to print from the computer?

It fixed it for a day so I am bumping the problem is back.

Changed the printer paper size seems to be working.

Dang thing is asking for manual feed again ill try to turn it to different paper sizes idk.

Ok this seems to only happen when I use microsoft office 2007, after I try to print with that program the problem occurs on anything I try to print from the computer.

Am experiencing repeated bad paper feeds on this printer. It developed slowly. As I look at the printer, when I request print the paper initially ***** to the right and often pulls in crooked, slanting top right. Frequently, this causes a paper jam and stops the printing command until the paper is cleared. The printer performs well under most circumstances but has slowly developed this mis-feed problem.

How can I clear up this mis-feed and get the printer to pull the paper in evenly?

Printer is a Dell Photo All-In-One Printer 922

A:Paper Mal-feed, Dell 922 Printer

The most likely cause of the mis-feed is either something blocking the paper, or something on the rollers that make the paper "slip". Try cleaning the rollers to make sure there isn't any dust or bits of paper on them, or other things in the paper path that could cause it to jam up.

The Dell support site has a manual for the printer (http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/PRN922/en/index.htm). Although a quick look through it did not show how to clean the rollers, the User Guide should have something that would help.

I purchased this printer about 2 years ago, so of course it is out of warranty! I have contacted Epson and got blah blah, the same obvious thing that is in the manual. Here finally, is my problem. the printer started kicking out a blank page between printed pages every so often, then it started kicking out 2 blank pages and stooping with the maintenance light on. I would check the paper and find nothing wrong, I would push the maintenance button and the printing would proceed. Now I have reached the point where a printed page is the exception and a paper jam is the norm. there is no paper jam! just the light coming on. what I see happening is that the paper as it starts to feed, stops just short of where the printer head would start to print. I have checked the rollers and cleaned them to no avail. I know I can go buy a new printer, but it just frost's me to have to replace a printer thats less then 2 years old! Any suggestions? Thanks ahead of time! Rick

I have an HP Photosmart C3100 All-in-One. When I try to print something, it doesn't even attempt to pull in any paper. Then I can hear the ink cartridges moving back and forth for moment -- they start out moving fine, but over the course of about 5 seconds, they slowly grind to a halt and I get an error msg. The Check Paper light and the Color light (as in, where u choose between color or black-and-white copies) flash. I thought the Color light might indicate some kind of problem w/ the color print cartridge and I had an extra, so I threw that in but it didn't make any difference. I also noticed a lot of ink that was sprayed inside the printer, presumably becuz the paper wasn't there to catch it.

So is this just a paper feed issue? Would a problem w/ the paper feed cause the ink cartridges to move the way I described? I found a kit to repair the paper feed: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...ry&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=3752456

Does the kit work and is it worth the cost? I barely ever print anything, so I'm really disappointed that the unit would fail like this

I'm using a Toshiba Satellite laptop running Windows Vista. I have also been successfully using an HP Photosmart B209a "all in one" printer with a wireless connection. I began getting low ink messages, so installed new HP cartridges. When I try to align the new cartridges, I get a message that says the alignment failed, but I can still use the printer. However, when I try to print any document I have generated on my computer, the printer picks up the paper and goes through the machinations of printing, but when it spits out the paper, it is blank. When I print a test page, it works. When I print a page from a website, it works. It will copy a document. It simply won't print anything I generate using my word processor or spreadsheet (I use Microsoft Works).

HP's Monitor program says that the computer is ready.

I have used HP Solutions Center, but nothing it suggests has made any difference. I have checked my wireless connection and it is working, obviously, or the printer wouldn't be getting the message to print, as it surely is, since it starts, picks up the paper and goes through the whole process of printing. However, nothing comes out except a blank piece of paper.

Hope you can help.

Every time I try to print anything, my WF-2530 feeds a sheet through and reports paper out. The unit has seen little use and has never had a paper jam. I have carefully loaded only a few sheets of regular 20 lb paper and it does it every time. I have done the same with some Kodak photo paper for inkjet and gotten the same results. It simply does not detect that there is paper loaded.

I have tried resetting the unit, powering off then on, disconnecting and reconnecting the power cord. Nothing causes it to recognize that paper is loaded after it feeds the first sheet through. Press the 'OK' button and it will feed another sheet and continue to report 'paper out'.

I don't want to replace such a lightly used printer. If I can correct whatever is wrong with the paper sensor it would be a blessing. Help!

I have a Canon Multipass F20 and Windows Xp SP2
everything has been working just fine until today when my printer refuses to feed the paper. I do not see any thing unusual. It just grabs the paper and twists in on one side and jams up.
I have turned it off and on again
I have restarted my computer
I have tried one piece of paper at a time while watching it
I have tried 50 sheets in the tray.
All with the same result.
I don't know where to find the Canon Multipass printer test "module". I know it exists, because I used it when I first got the printer, but it has never been a problem until now and I can't find it. I don't know that it would help because as I recall it was all about color and density but .......

hello all, we've been running into problems with our Hewlett Packard Laserjet 5L recently, and i wanted to know if anybody knew anything about the thing. It used to work fine, but since about a month or so, it now eats all the paper in the paper feed. This is very annoying and forces us to feed paper sheet by sheet. I know this is a common problem, as we have had the same problem with several 5Ls without ever being able to resolve it. Anybody know how to fix this? i have not been able to find any info on it. When I try to print several pages, my tax return or a manual I downloaded, I usually have a paper feed problem. Usually, therefore, I copy the document data to a memory stick and take it to a local office supply to print. I wonder, though, if using a different sort of paper would solve the problem. I am using what is described as a 20# bond paper, an all purpose paper for copying, printing, etc., sold by Wal-Mart. It is not a high quality paper that I might use for a resume, if I were looking for a job. Still, it is a satisfactory paper for most correspondence.

My Brother HL-2140 is a few years old; it is a small, laser printer, for B & W printing only. A print job of only a few pages does not overtax it, usually. I have changed the ink cartridge once, about 5 months ago. From that you can conclude that I do not do much printing. All the more aggravating that when I have a sizable print job, it is unreliable. The paper sometimes jams; other times, two or three sheets go into the rollers simultaneously.

I try to avoid the problem by fanning the paper in the feed tray, then carefully inserting the sheets in the tray. I don't know if that helps or makes matters worse.

Also, if I have many pages to print, I like to print on both sides of the page, according to the instructions in the Brother manual. That adds to the risk of wasted paper and time if there is a jam.

With such a printer, I am glad I have an office supply store in the neighborhood, Brother!

My Epson Workforce 500 has recently started feeding paper crooked from the paper tray. As far as I know, nothing has changed in the settings. I can copy from the document feeder and it feeds the paper slower so it doesn't jam. With regular printing, it feeds crooked. I have a win 7 laptop with wireless connection to Epson workforce 840 which has worked perfectly until yesterday. I was trying to copy some documents and got an error message: "ADF paper jam."
I followed all the steps in my manual for clearing a paper jam--I found no paper stuck anywhere in the machine. After trying to get the documents to feed, I realized that the Auto Document Feeder (ADF) was not "grabbing" the documents and rolling them through the machine for making the copies. I cannot find any obstructions; the rollers seem to be working. I tried several different types of documents to see if that made a difference. Each time I get the same error message.

My only thought at this point is that the ADF is broken but I'm wondering if it is fixable.
Any ideas?

A friend of mine has a HP Deskjet 940c.
The paper-feed is not working at all. Whatever mechanism lifts the paper up to the paper-rollers, does not lift it high enough for the rollers to catch it.

HP's website does not refer to this problem anywhere.

Probably all HP 900 series might have the same mechanism, a small metal lever near the rear, visible when you take out the paper-tray.
Can't see HOW it is lifted, looks like perhaps an electro-magnet?

Anybody know a solution?

A:HP Deskjet 940c, paper feed problems

I have a HP 900 series .There are gears on the left side of the drum ,As it turns a pin lifts the bar as it goes by.That bar is hinged at the end of the paper tray. The end of the paper close to the drum moves up about 11 mm It appears to me that the only way to getat this area is to remove the bottom of the printer.( I am not going to open mine up,It has worked wonderfully for years)
If you or your friend are mechanically adept.you might be able to replace parts ! Otherwise I don't know if it is worth paying for a repairman.Printers are pretty reasonable ,we get ripped off by the ink.
Anyway let me know the outcome.

Reading up on it, I found that this printer has an auto-duplex feature, which lead me to the question:

How damp is the paper going to be after printing duplex, especially if I print with 50% - 100% coverage?

My initial conjecture is that it wouldn't be wet or curled, as it would be counterproductive to Epson's image to provide a printer with an auto-duplex feature that would drench the paper.

After doing a little bit of research, it seems that it's largely going to depend on the ink itself. According to macworld.com, "pigment inks...are made up of tiny, encapsulated particles that sit on top of the paper, instead of being absorbed into a paper’s fibers, which is what happens with dyes." The article further goes on to state that pigment inks are primarily for the purpose of longevity. Well, I'm not particularly concerned about it's longevity but I am interested in whether it's ability to dry faster than dye ink is justifiable for an investment in pigment inks?

A little more research revealed that paper quality is also a major factor (duh). Only issue is, I've already purchased a bunch of cheap 20 lb, 96 bright white paper and don't want to purchase paper separately for this additional printer (when I mean "bunch", I mean that I possess cases of paper in the double digits). Another reason I'm hesitant to make any move towards better paper is that it seems that the higher quality paper is designed to ... Read more

I keep getting a "out of paper" error when I try to use the printer. It tells me to load paper into the tray and press the reset button. There is plenty of paper in the tray. After about a year of wonderful scanning, my Fujitsu ScanSnap S510 all of a sudden doesn't "catch" paper automatically to feed it through the scanner.

I have a REALLY bad paper jam... My printer is MF4350d. The paper jam troubleshooting outlined in the manual did not help. When I opened up the toner area and the back end of the printer, I can't see see the paper at all. It looks like the paper is jammed in area that I don't know how to access to (if I can, aside from taking the whole printer apart).

Does anyone know any way to fix this problem? :/ The paper that got stuck was a label paper. I know for sure it is stuck because the paper did not come out at all. The WHOLE paper got stuck. The label paper half half label peeled off. I am assuming that the reason it might have curled up in the printer is due to the disappearance of that half label? :/

The label paper is a regular size paper with 2 labels divided evenly on the paper.

Is taking the printer apart the only way? (is that even safe/good to do on my own part?)

Please help thank you very much.

I think this is similar to the thread
HP 2575 Printer Paper Jam Error w/no paper jam
I was trying to print 2 sheets double sided (manually).
Side 1 printed, I reoriented the sheet, pressed OK, then the paper jammed.
I removed the jammed paper, which tore during removal
I tried to reprint the two sheets, and printed side one, then got a papre jam message before the reoriented paper was taken up!
I have tried powering off and disconnecting the printer, and now have a "permanent" paper jam message.
Can anyone tell me where the sensors are on this model? I suspect "chad" (yes, I really am old enough to know the problems chad can cause).
Unfortunately, I'm also partially sighted, so I need pretty clear instructions on where to look forthe chad.
Can anyone help please?

Hello:I am running Windows 2000 pro, with all service packs installed, including the final service pack that was issued in place of the service pack 5 that was canceled. The problem is fairly easy to describe:- I open WordPad, type a single space, then use the File pull-down menu to print a blank piece of paper.- The Print dialog box, pages entry has 1-65535 in it. If I go ahead and click on the Print button, I would need more than 13 cases of paper for the job to complete! This is a new phenomenon, as I have used this technique for quite some time to ensure proper connection to the printer and that other programs will be likely to print correctly and never have had the printer spit-out more than one sheet of paper.I can highlight the "1-65535" value and delete it, which will allow me to print the one blank page I want, but I shouldn't have to do that extra step (and the print dialogue box should not show anything in the "pages" box). I would like to know if perhaps something in the configuration files for WordPad causes this to happen and, if so, what it is, where it is, and how can I change it to get things back to normal.I did run Avast!, Spybot, SuperAntoSpyware, and the free Trend Micro scan to see if there might be some malware that contributes to the problem. hello dear sir
I have the problem with my printers in my office . the printers are HP laser jet 1300 and 2035.
my problems is : After I print a document , printer does not stop and printing white papers until I stop print service or power down the printer.
whenI push ctrl+p  to print ,
some files like shockwave.shd appears in this address." c:\windows\system 32\spooler\printers". and these files never vanished unless i stop the print spooler.
I know that  : The following briefly describes the purpose
of SPL, SHD, and TMP files:

SPL files are the actual spool (print job) files.

TMP files are usually associated with LPR print jobs.

SHD files provide information about which printer the print job was sent to and from
whom the print job came. An SHD file is a "shadow" file that keeps track of what logical printer a (same number) xxxxx.spl file goes to. It also contains the file's order in the queue, the user who sent the file to the printer, and other information.
These files are usually deleted unless the logical printer settings state otherwise.
but these files  never vanished and untils these file were removed manually ,
printer cant print at all.
please help me .

Looking very closely at the finished sheet I do not see any evidence of any ink being deposited. However, I can see evidence of black being deposited. The printer is a HP PhotoSmart Premium C310a. Incidentally, my Hp series D2600 acts the same way. Both printers print all colors when white paper is used. Any ideas?

A:Trying to print light fonts on black paper

To get even a light gray text you would have to use black ink on white paper. The "color" white is actually the complete absence of any color at all, so most consumer printers have to turn of all the color cartridges and rely on the paper to produce the "white".

You could buy a printer that uses actual white ink, but I bet they're expensive!

But at $276.99 for just the cartridge you might want to consider a white crayon...:-)

I have a HP photo smart B110 series printer, and recently when I send a print job to it that has multiple pages and is quite detailed it always gives a paper jam error.
It occurs when printing PDF files, long word documents... basically anything that has a lot of info. As it is going slowly through once the first page is about 2/3rd printed the Jam error occurs. The next sheet has not moved at all so clearly isn't causing an issue.
If I set the quality to Fast Draft it prints with no problem, but obviously it isn't as good a copy.

Can any one shed any light on this issue please?

A:Paper Jam issue with slow print jobs

Sounds like a hardware issue. Paper moving fast through the printer works fine. Paper moving slow fails.
