I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't know why but it has randomly started doing this in this order-
1. I turn it on, it does the normal start up screen of "Toshiba" and the loading animation underneath.
2. After a long time of waiting it takes me to a black screen. It stays that way for about 5 minutes, sometimes it does not do this and skips to:
3. Blue screen of death. It tells me it is going to restart and stays on this screen for less than a second. It repeats all 3 of these steps and does not stop.
I would tell you the full system details but I do not know them off hand. But I do know-

Hi! So i recent got my laptop, about 2+ weeks ago, and it was working well until now. The Google Chrome browser was unresponsive (i assume because i opened it while an update was trying to be installed) so i decided to restart the computer (after the update had failed of course, not during) It asked if i wanted to cancel the restart or force it; i chose to force the restart. Now i have been sittung here for an hour and a half waiting for it! Ive even tried to force a manual shutdown by holding the power button, but even that wont do anything! (i held it for 20sec)I dont know what to do because it is still on the blue restarting screen. Please help.

A:HP Stream laptop stuck on restart screen

Hey guys!So i assume you all have the stream laptop specifically. What happened was the processor is just 100% frozen and sadly you can't fix it yourself unless you have the equipment and know computers really well. So, the only solution is to take your laptop to a shop probably the one you bought the laptop from as they should have a tech help station; I took mine back to the store I got it from (aka micro center) and an IT guy fixed it for me.So the prob isnt major and your files should be safe. Mine were fine and nothing was lost.Hope that helped and sorry it happened to you all too. It totally sucks but at least its fixable

Hi, I'm sorry to bother you!!
I, obviously accidentally, allowed my laptop to overheat and shutdown due to poor ventilation etc, but now it will not start up properly.
The starting screen shows the caption 'preparing automatic repair' before going to a blue windows 8 screen of ' sorry we ran into a problem...'
I was hoping for advice as to how to fix this, if possible, since this is the laptop I use for uni :/
Thanks!

Try power cycling; take battery and charger out, hold down power button for 1 minute, reboot with only charger in, if it works, restart and put the battery back in. If that does't work, do you know if you have a repair disc or windows disc that came with it or you have?

Hi All,

I have read many, many other threads that address infinite reboot loops, but none of the solutions have resolved my issue. I am hoping the community might be able to help me identify this problem.

I have just recently replaced my CPU and MB with the items listed below. After installing hardware, I ran KillDisk on the HDD, which will zero out the entire drive. The computer boots normally and will load into windows installation without issue. However, once Windows reboots to start windows for the first time, it is unable to do so. The load windows logo screen will load, and approximately right before Windows would normally load my screen goes black, the system turns off, sits off for about 1-2 seconds, and then turns itself back on and repeats this boot process. It turns off and restarts at the same time every time.

Steps I have done so far in an attempt to resolve the issue but failed with no change in the rebooting behavior:

1) removed all non-essential hardware (CPU, 1 stick of RAM, DVD drive, and Video card were the only things left), and tried reinstalling windows.

2) Swapping out one of the 2 RAM sticks I have to make sure it wasn't defective.

3) Trying to install Windows on a new harddrive to rule out that the HDD was defective.

4) trying to boot from the CD (After the initial install had partially finished) to see if HDD was related in anyway.

5) Installed a very simple DVI video card to see if ATI card may be the cause.

6) Resetting CMOS and rein... Read more

A:One initial Install Restart, Windows gets stuck in a restart loop

Sorry you are having these problems. You have already done the most logical things. If it's not the memory, or the video card, or the hard drive, and the only things you have changed are the cpu and mobo, then you might wonder if there is a problem with one of the two. You could always boot a live CD of Ubuntu to see how your computer responds. Or XP installation sounds like a great idea for a test.

The computer has now been on the restart screen with the spinning wheel for several hours. I haven?t done anything else to it yet because I don?t want to mess anything up. Should I let it continue to restart even though it?s been several hours or should I hold the power button and try a hard restart or something?

My son may have deleted an important .dll, but now the problem is how do we get to Windows and the Recycle Bin? (I am able to access the BIOS Setup, but I have no idea what to do with it)

Hi All,

So, my computer is stuck in a restart loop. every now and then I see a screen with option to start windows normally or safe mode, but it loops faster then I can hit enter.

being a comp guy and knowing enough about comps, tried to load Windows 7 install disk as well as Ubuntu Live Disk.. No luck, loops before they can load.

Tried disconnecting everything except CPU, Graphic Card, HDD(3 different), and RAM (1 and all sticks).. No luck there either.

Any thoughts on cause of this. fyi. my first inclination was MOBO was fried; so since it was under warranty, I was able to RMA it and get it repaired, but that did not help.

Comp Specs:
Win 7 Ultimate x64
Nvidia GTX480
G.Skill RAM: F3-12800CL6T-6GBPI
Core i7
MOBO: Asus Rampage 3 extreme.

btw, I have rset bios 100s of time and no luck there either...

I am using a CyberPowerPc tower
with an MSI motherboard
It came with a factory issued Win 8 recovery disc.
that was already pre installed on it
To start off my painful story I woke up this morning turned on my computer & encountered a Autorepair loop I believe The error was

"d:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt"

So I pressed F8 & went to the recovery menus & inserted my Factory issued Win-8 recovery disc in the refresh PC option it sent back a message saying

"Image Media Invalid"

I then went too the recover option where it allows you to bring up the computers library & I opened the cd & right clicked I then ran the setup under admin. selected Custom installation. everything seemed to be going good it restarted then & sat at the loading screen for 20 or so mins I manually restarted it thinking it was stuck.
Now it displays an error.

"The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpexted error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install windows, click OK to restart the computer, and then restart installation."

Now I can no longer even access my recovery menus by spamming F8 all the way to the error message.
as for the Bios I dont know how to even access it.
I really need help to fix this as I cannot afford to send it to the shop.

When you restart it try to hit F8 several times to see if you can get to safe mode.
It sounds like it could be starting in debug mode or something similar.

Did you get it from a brick and mortar store? I'd return it. If you exchange for the same model, then I'd have them demo the new one before leaving the store. Otherwise, I'd arrange for an RMA--maybe an exchange if you want to take the probably small risk again.

Hi,

I am having a really tough time with my computer. My computer is stuck in a restart loop. I was finally able to get it to start in safe mode only by using msconfig. I ran spybot search and destroy which found nothing. I then tried a system restore which did not help at all. After that, when I start it up, I get to the screen where I select my log in. Then after a minute, the computer restarts itself and this loop continues. I was able once to get to the desktop, but it shutdown again within 15 seconds. If I use F8 to try safe mode, I get stuck again because my keyboard (USB) shuts off and I cant make a selection. I am really at my wits end. To make matters worse, I do not have the original XP CDs. Is there any hope at all?? I really appreciate any help that is offered.

It possible for you to run any programs? If so, try Process Explorer, it may point to what is using up the CPU. I use a program called Process Lasso to catch software that may use 100% of the CPU and lock up. You can check it out here: http://www.bitsum.com/prolasso.php

At this point, we have to deduce what it isn't.

Insert you XP disc and choose the recovery console option. Recovery console Follow the MS article and then at the command line type chkdsk /r. If that doesn't work you can do a Repair Install. Finally if you do end up doing a clean reinstall of windows you will be able to access the other HD except programs will need to be reinstalled.

I had a bigger update automatically download and install today. It said Windows may need to restart several times during the update. It has been stuck in a restart loop for several hours now. Laptop switches on, after about 15 seconds says restarting and the cycle repeats itself. Not able to get to login screen. When I try to boot from installation media I get the message: "Looks like you started an upgrade and booted from installation media. If you want to continue with the upgrade click Yes. If you want to do a clean install click No. I clicked Yes as I would like to avoid doing a clean install. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a PC that won't restart from windows 7, but would shut down perfectly fine.
It would also restart fine from XP or by using the physical reset button (automatically starting Win7). And it would power on fine.
It's a new install of Win7 on a new hdd in this computer, so I can't compare it with the past. Mother board is MSI P4M900M.
What happens with Win7 is, it would begin restart ? shut down, make the power switch tick, followed by movement sound from the CDROM, and then a black screen & fans all spinning. Nothing else. Ctrl-alt-del won't work then ? only the physical reset button. These sounds that it makes are exactly like the 3-4 first seconds after pressing the physical rest button, but then it stops.
Voltages from the bios and from the molex connectors look fine. CPU, memory, HDD tests are all fine.
There's no bios update and reflushing, clearing cmos didn't help.
I tried disabling the cdrom and disconnecting it, disconnecting the old hdd, disabling legacy USB support, disabling serial and parallel ports, changing case fans, changing molex used ? all with no change.
Wake on PME is enabled, disabling it only makes things worse, not being able to power on in many attempts.

Any idea how this would happen only from Win7, but after already restarting?

Thanks in advance for any help/idea!

A:Win7 only would not REstart, gets stuck at BIOS start?

Since the display doesn't turn on, I thought maybe it has something to do with the integrated graphics adapter, so I tried the most basic display settings and installing the driver from VIA (rather than by Microsoft), but no change.
Searching online I saw someone commenting that lowering the refresh rate helped with something of that kind, but I couldn't find a way to change that or to even see the rate. The PC is connected to a LCD display, and I can only choose default refresh rate, no number.

Any thoughts?

Hello all.

I'm hoping someone can assist me with a sudden Win 7 boot up issue on Dell Studio laptop.... which **coincidentally** just came off its one year warranty ONE WEEK ago.

It's actually my cousin's laptop who is attending college, and needs this up and running rather quickly.
His brother took a whack at it by trying to install an OEM copy of Win 7 64 bit, but had no luck. He also had attempted to perform the Dell Datasafe recovery, but he stated it was not working. And since it did not come with recovery discs.... nope, they did not create their own.
(note to self, remind other family members to create their win 7 recovery discs!!!!)

Then the laptop came to me. I immediately tried the same Dell datasafe recovery steps (using F8 and choosing Repair your computer), but it was so - incredibly - slow.... that after I chose Repair your computer from the F8 menu, it just went to a blank, black screen. I let it sit for almost an hour, no response.

I did some digging online then went into the BIOS, and disabled any / all devices.
Rebooted, tried F8 repair again, and this time was able to proceed. But, upon choosing next, etc.... it did not present me with the options that Dell says should be there (as described here - Restoring Your Dell Computer to Original Factory Installation with Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 | Dell ).

I did not have an option named "Dell Factory Image Recovery and DataSafe options"
This is the menu I arrived at... s... Read more

What was the previous operating system?
You mention that this person attempted to install an OEM copy of W7 64 bit, on top of a system that you "think" had W7 64 bit already on it.
If I am wrong in this, please tell me. If I am right, why?

There may be ways to get to the Dell reinstall routine, but generally, all will be lost. I am assuming that you do not want this.

The real situation is this, please double check that both versions are of the 64 bit nature. 32 bit, and 64 bit conversion will cause data loss.

If both are 64 bit, then I think that we can get through this, with a reinstall, and the data being saved into a windows old folder.

Hi everyone!

After regular restart my Lenovo Y510P started behaving strange. I was able to login to my profile, but after that I have received error that OneDrive could not start.
OneDrive options: This service isnt available right now- please try again later.
I cancelled out of that screen (this was the only option).
Next I get a screen changing colours that says Hi, we are setting things up for you, installing your apps.

It does this for good few minutes each time. Then I get more errors that my Desktop profile was moved or deleted and I am presented with a gray desktop, no apps, blank task bar.
When i click Windows logo in the left bottom corner - there are no apps at all.
It also produces 2 errors (attached) that it could not connect to Windows services which could prevent standard users from logging in, and that
Desktop could not be loaded.

So far I have not had to come to the point of being helpless enough to ask for help. I had this laptop for about 1.5 years.
Have not installed any new programs. I have Kaspersky for anti virus and firewall. And Malwarebytes as well I believe.
This was just a regular restart.
I have a recent restore point but cannot get to this. Am I facing at complete system restore?
Any assistance would be very much appreciated!

I have googled the error already but havent been able to solve issue as other people have.
Restarted about 6 times. Does this each time.
Thank you for any assistance! Lena.

Hello,

Some time ago I installed some software (on Windows 8.1) that went wrong (couldn't install the software and subsequently a computer crash) and the installation was messed up.

Now, every time I boot my machine I am getting the standard Windows needs to restart to finish the installation dialogue.

I can't get this to go away. No matter how many times I restart.

I didn't have a restore point set up prior to this (as this is a relatively new Windows installation) so can't restore out of this problem.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how I can kill this process that is causing this restart message as I am unable to find what I need to do to stop this from happening.

Thank you

Simon

I've had this computer for roughly 3 years now and really haven't had any problems with it other then the occasional accidental hit of the sleep mode button. Now usually when I hit the sleep button, the computer will be very difficult to get out of sleep and I will normally end up turning it off completely and then turnin it back on. This has worked fine for me up until the last time I restarted the computer. Now when I go to turn the computer on the light on the computer starts orange (normally blue when started) which normally shows me the computer is sleeping. The monitor also does the same thing. I can hear the fans running but have no other options besides completely turning the computer off via the power button.
