Yoga 11e Chromebook Wireless-Status Indicator prob...

Q: Yoga 11e Chromebook Wireless-Status Indicator prob...

I recently got my Yoga 11e Chromebook and the wireless-status indicator which is ontop of the laptop's screen. When I shut my laptop down, the light doesn't go off. Everything else is off like the ThinkPad light. It is draining my battery power and I looked through support and I couldn't get any help from it. I have the latest Chrome OS (Version 39). I believe it could be a hardware problem but if it is a software problem, can you please advise me on how to fix this problem. Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Gidday,I have a 11e 3rdgen chromebook (20GD-0004AU)The system will not power on, POST or light the screen (on battery or AC charger). Holding the  power button down for 8 seconds does nothing. The AC charging light to the right of the charging port does not light when the charging plug is inserted (off known good power sockets, the mains cable is correctly seated in the model ADLX45NCC3A brick)The System Status Indicators on both the outer lid and palm rest remain off and do not flash to indicate charging, sleep or boot-in-progress.Ordinarily, I'd suspect a charging socket fault or battery, dud brick or cable or even mainboard but this is the weird thing: The Wireless Status Indicator on the leading edge of the outer lid blinks once a minute, on or off AC        2. putting my ear to the palm rest, I                  can hear a 5s extremely faint                          electronic leak/squeak every 15s on              or off AC Possibly the battery lead isn't correctly seated, but I didn't want to pop the back cover until checking around and also getting a known good brick, mains cable and charging cable plugged in to isolate the fault from the power cabling respect. Could it be a sleep/hibernation/lid closed SNAFU? What hard reset options do I have?

My previous notebook (from Compaq) always showed remaining charge of the battery (in the task bar) in terms of both % and remaining minutes. My new Gateway notebook only shows the remaining charge of the battery in % terms. I would like the battery status indicator to show the remaining charge in minutes. How does one do this in Windows XP?

A:Battery status indicator in Win XP

Don't think you will find it as part of XP.

Its more likely to be part of the battery monitor driver peculiar to the Compaq, which added the "feature" to the icon.

If Gateway don't provide it, you may not be able to have it.

On page 48 of the Hardware Maint. Manual it describes the colors of the light for the ac power status indicator as the following: This indicator shows the ac power and battery power status of the computer. ? White: connected to ac power (battery power 90%? 100%)? Amber: connected to ac power (battery power 0%? 90%)? Off: not connected to ac power My laptop is plugged in and the male plug icon next to the battery icon (lower right) says Plugged in. However the ac power status indicator light is off. Sometimes when plugged in the light is white, other times it's off.  I assume this is not typical behavior. This behavior may be responsible for the slow draining (1% every 2 days) of my battery even with AC power on 24/7. Has anyone seen this atypical behavior of the ac power status light?

Why isn't there a status indicator for the Windows 7 update downloads? When updating windows 7, the 'update' screen just indicates a download is taking place. You have absolutely no idea the degree of the download or whether or not the program is
hung up or not working. This seems to be a very simple item that would make it easier to determine whether a download is progressing or if the system is hung up. Why doesn't this feature exist?????  It existed in prior versions of windows in some form
or another.  The current screen is inadequate.  Absolutely inadequate!

The System Status Indicator (red dot on the "i" in ThinkPad) on my 2-week-old X1 Carbon Gen 7 does not light up anymore. It seemed to work just fine for the past 2 weeks since I got it, but today I noticed it was off. I've tried rebooting, as well as resetting with the paper clip, and I've updated all drivers and bios, but the light hasn't come back to life. Has anyone else seen this problem and/or have any ideas how to fix it? Everything else on the PC seems to be working fine, including the light on the power/sleep button, but I'm worried that this is a sign of other potential issues with the laptop. Thanks for your help.

Hi All,

I have an Epson Stylus C64 printer which I am able to use as normal (with ink levels and status monitor appearing) on my old computer with Windows XP.

My new laptop is Vista and although I have installed the Epson Stylus Printer Software that came with the printer onto the laptop, the Ink Indicator Levels and the Epson Status Monitor options showing in 'Printer Prefences' seem to be grayed-out/disabled. I am unable to gauge my ink levels so have no idea how much ink I have available and/or when to replace it. The actual printing seems to be fine at the moment but I am unable to tell when the ink requires replacing.

I have tried to re-install the Epson Printer software but nothing seems to change - the ink levels and status monitor contine to be disabled/grayed out. I noticed that when installing the software I am asked to disable any anti-virus software - I have Norton installed but have no idea how to uninstall it - my computer also seems to be automatically provided with something called McAfee Security - again I am unsure how to disable this and whether in fact I need to do this - it may be that the anti-virus programs are hindering the Epson software from fully loading? Any ideas and/or suggestions would be most welcome.

Thank you
Lisa

Hi. This is my first time posting on this forum, so go easy on me if possible. I recently just purchased a Lenovo Yoga 720 15" (the 4K version) online and have received it today. When I first unbox the laptop and charge it, the laptop charged to a 100%. However, after about 3 to 4 hours of leaving the laptop unplug and replugging the charger again, I was not able to charge the laptop. The laptops indicator lights was not flashing and the settings does not have battery conservation. I have checked and tried everything possible such as using different outlets and the one I originally used to charge the Yoga, but nothing works. I hope that by posting on this forum, someone can be able to help me out solve this problem. Also, the Yoga is at 29%, so attempting anything must be quick or the laptop will go "dead".

Hello, where can I find the charging indicator on the Thinkpad Yoga? When I'm charging the machine (turned off) I don't see any light or other charging indicator. Is this normal? ThanksRegardsRango

A:Thinkpad Yoga Charging Indicator

Hi Rango,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to inform you that Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga doesn?t have a dedicated indicator for charging status.

The illuminated dots in the ThinkPad logo on the outer lid of your computer and on the palm rest show the system status of your computer:

? Blinks for three times: The computer is initially connected to the power.
? On: The computer is on (in normal mode).
? Off: The computer is off or in hibernation mode.
? Blinks fast: The computer is entering sleep or hibernation mode.
? Blinks slowly: The computer is in sleep mode.

Hope this clarified your query!

Best regards,
Mithun.

A photo colleague dumped his Chromebook on my lap (gratis) with some [email protected]#$ comments ... I will not comment as to why, and I thought this could replace my clunky W540 for pre made portfolio/slide or video presentations. OK, here is the deal.  The Cloud storage is nice, but I'm off on the road with no WiFi, at a client's house. Last time I tested the Chrome Cloud, the presentation 'stuttered' and the flow was disconcerting, and was a discredit to my abilities. I have mutliple prsentations, and 16gb is not enough, particularly when visiting distinct client with different or multiple  portfolio requirements. Is there any way to change the 16gb standard card to a 64gb (There are now 200gb micro SD cards!): Sandisk 200GB SD - The future. I hate to fiddle with the built in SD port, not counting the potential loss of these tiny cards.  I would like it to be an  internal or at least sealed and protected from accidental 'pop-outs'. As the eMMC is actually built on the SD card protocol, can I open and replace the meager 16gb with a more modern larger storage for of WiFi use. Any hack or hints before I pass this unit off, would be appreciated.  Incredible 'oyster' closure system.  Even the Chrome Pixel has a lid finger catch groove.

I do have and use the "SanDisk Connect Wireless Media Drive":  Did not try it in Chromebook yet, as the Google Store does not seem to have the Chrome extension.  It does play well on my Adroids (Cell and Tablet). Sandisk Wireless Media drive. That may be a way to go if I can get it to work as just a raw drive using some workaround software controls.  I guess another workaround and something else to carry & lose.

Laptop only 1 year old. Just out of warranty. In home light duty use only. Tried to power up one day and noticed solid amber light although charger was plugged in. Purchased new genuine Lenovo charger. No luck. Purchased new power input connector (yellow plug on unit's side) and internal cable to motherboard. Installed nicely. Checked input to motherboard: 20VDC. But still no power and amber light solid. Purchased new battery. Still no power. Still amber light solid. No flicker, no display, no nothing. Next is motherboard replacement, but i7 8GB motherboard is $400! Even on E-bay.  Tried all of the reset procedures people post: holding power button and BIOS button (together and separate) for 20-30 seconds with and without battery and power cord plugged in. Tried disconnecting small battery to clear CMOS.  Anyone have this issue? How in the world can a motherboard fail on a unit cared for maticulously including always having proper cooling in an indoor environment. I've never used this unit outdoors. I don't have kids (lol). Lenovo says $99 repair inspection and probably new motherboard at $400. Seriously!?!? $500 for repair of a one year old laptop. Shame on you Lenovo!

Hi all, I bought Yoga 11e Chromebook for a high schooler in my family, and she was happy with it. A couple of weeks ago, in her science class she couldn't access some web resources - I bet they written as "Windows or Mac only" web resources.   Now, I am thinking installing Windows on it, to make her school life easier - Because she is a student she can have a Windows license at no cost from government software centre for students.   The machine is still under warranty and I would like to know: 1. I recently got the 4k version of the yoga chromebook: https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/yoga/yoga-c-series/Yoga-Chromebook/p/88YGCC61096 Part number: 81JX0008UX I've noticed that occasionaly with this laptop my pointer will lag insanely and not respond to small inputs for multiple minutes at a time.  At the time it occurs there isn't high CPU load or memory load. It occurs with the touchpad and the mousepad. It occurs when I do and do not have any peripherals attached. Closing the lid, letting the laptop sleep, then waking it back up has helped once so far. I usually just hard reboot as a workaround. I've seen review articles mention freezing as well, which were chalked up to running linux apps, which I did not run when this started, but are running now: https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/02/22/lenovo-yoga-chromebook-c630-4k-review/ I'm running Version 73.0.3683.88 (Official Build) (64-bit), and this has occurred across multiple verison of Chrome OS. It first occured the first time I started using the laptop and signed into my account. I restored from a USB flash drive which appeared to resolve the issues for multiple days whereupon it started happening again. Has anyone else seen this? What's the support option here since I've already wiped the chromebook? Must it be a hardware problem?

Last week, I purchased a refurbished Lenovo ThinkPad 11e Yoga Chromebook.  When I received it, it was sealed in the original packaging with a sticker indicating that it had been refurbished at a Lenovo facility.  When I turned it on, I got stuck at the Enterprise Enrollment screen.  It seems that it was registered to the domain of the original owner and would not let anyone login without credentials for that domain.  The trackpad was also non-responsive, but I figured once I logged in, I could toggle the trackpad settings and get it working. There was a link to contact Google for help with this, so I followed those instructions.  Google said that they could not help me, and that I'd need to contact the original owner to have them de-register the device.  Since I had no connection to the original owner, I contacted the seller who apologized and told me that, since the device had a full warranty, Lenovo should be able to fix the issue. So, I contacted Lenovo for help on Sunday.  The Tech Support Agent that I spoke to first tried to tell me to return the device and get something that ran Windows since Chrome OS and Android are inferior(!).  Anyway, once I assured him that I did indeed want a Chromebook and knew all about Chrome OS, he told me that I could send it in for repair, and that all they'd need to do was wipe the system and re-install the OS with a consumer image instead of the enterprise image that was on the m... A:Wireless speed under wireless network connection status fluctuating????

google for a program called Network Stumbler. When it runs, you can see other
wifi systems near by and the real asset is the disclosure of all the channels in use.

pick a channel that is not used

monitor what activities you are performing when the connection rate changes;
it's likely that it only occurs when you're gaming. In that case, the stress of the
networked game is the actual cause of the rate change.
