Windows cannot detect my wireless card

Q: Windows cannot detect my wireless card

I just upgraded to windows xp pro on my laptop and the new system cannot enable a wireless connection. Before i upgraded i was wi-fi capable (wifi was built in when i bought the laptop) but now nothing shows up on my network connections. The wifi switch is on but no possible connections show up on the network connectoins menu. I need help.

Preferred Solution: Windows cannot detect my wireless card

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Windows cannot detect my wireless card

You may have to disable the onboard wireless card...

Check your userguide on how to do this.

I have an older Medion akoya p6618 laptop running W7 x86. The option for wireless in windows has vanished, like the pc doesn't have a wireless card, just as it would appear on a normal desktop pc - only LAN. It works fine with cable. Device manager shows no wireless option either. I have tried system restore, then formatting and dl'ing wlan and lan drivers from the medion website. Same problem. When i try to enable wifi using the Fn keyboard shortcut, nothing happens. The little led does not turn on.

At this point I'm feeling like card is just broken and that it is a hardware issue. What do you think? I'm considering buying a dongle like this one (TP-LINK TL-WN725N Netv?rksadapter USB 2.0 | Model: TL-WN725N | pc-lager.dk). Would this thing enable me to have wifi?

Any help is appreciated.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I did a system restore it worked temporarily and I had internet access, but after a restart it stopped working. In the past it was hit or miss whether or not it would work, so again I'm leaning towards a hardware issue. Maybe there are some things I missed, though.

I am having an issue connecting to any wireless network. Problem's existed for 2 days for unknown reason. I have uninstalled and installed and then updated drivers. I also disabled and enabled the respective services from "services.msc" but no go.

Hello all. I came across this website and forum through searching for this problem. I've come across similar problems but they all either end with the person taking their computer to a shop or it goes unsolved.

Here is the issue:
My computer (Dell Vostro 1500 with Windows XP) will not detect the wireless network we have here at home. The wireless card is an Intel Pro Wireless 3945ABG. The laptop has a light that shows if WiFi is on or not. Whenever I turn on the laptop, the light is usually on but not detecting any wireless network (either ours or someone else's).

-This started happening about three weeks ago. There was no damage to the computer. I reformatted the laptop and reinstalled all the drivers but the problem persisted.
-Turns out one of our cats had thrown up on the router we had at the time so I figured that was the problem and waited until we got another one.
-The new one came yesterday and everything was working fine. A couple hours later the problem resurfaced.

I rolled back the driver thinking maybe that was the issue but apparently it wasn't. I tried uninstalling the wireless card and reinstalling. The only thing that accomplished was deleting the profile I had on there. I've tried the simple repair option but that hasn't worked.

I know the router is broadcasting a signal because everyone else in the house is getting the connection.

Here is what is displayed when I do the IPCONFIG/ALL in CMD:

I bought an Acer 2301 laptop a few months ago. It has an Acer IPN 2220 wireless LAN card. A few days ago I visited my brother who has a wireless network set up in his house ? DLINK ADSL broadband router. He uses the wireless network for 1 Pc and 2 laptops. As I had my laptop I tried to connect to this network but couldn?t. I tried finding wireless networks and it said there were no wireless networks found in range. I disabled and re-enabled the LAN card. I uninstalled and re-installed it. I disabled my firewall. All to no avail. The network is not running encrypted and my brother said he had no trouble connecting all his wireless cards. Can anyone explain why my wireless LAN card couldn?t find anything?

A:Wireless Lan Card Cant Detect Network

there could be several reasons for this, the card could have simply had its "radio" turned off. Most internal cards have a switch function to turn on and off their ability to detect networks. This is usually either a special button or a key combo. Check the BIOS, the card may have to be enabled in there as well as in device manager. Some systems I've encountered come with wireless disabled in the BIOS as default. Also, are you sure your brother's router was "broadcasting" its SSID. Most routers have the ability to turn this off. This causes you to have to know the SSID and config the card manually.

I recently purchased a used laptop from a local school district and I have been trying to access the wireless internet connection I have at home - but I can't.

It can connect to the internet through the ethernet cable. It came with "IBM Access Connections", a connections managing program that lets me switch between the default "USD XXX Wireless" network (The school district's default wireless connection), "Out of District" (also came when I bought the computer) and "My House", the network I created to connect the laptop to the internet at home (that I'm forced to use an ethernet cable with).

In the Control Panel, an icon "Wireless LAN Settings" is available, that gives me the message "Unable to Connect to the Wireless NetCard. Is it inserted?".

All of these clues of wireless connections that once were lead me to believe that the 'NetCard' that allows for wireless connections was removed before the laptop was given to me. Is there somewhere I can check to see if this hardware exists or is configured correctly?

I have a Inspiron 1520 with a Dell Wireless 1390 WLAN mini Card. Lately I noticed that if I left the laptop on (or maybe just restart, not sure, don't want to test it right now) and let it go to sleep and then turn it back on, it won't detect any wireless networks. I have to wait 10-15 minutes before it can detect networks again, I don't know what to do. I know its not the router, since it can't detect other networks either which there are a few around. I have this laptop for almost a year now. It worked just fine till recently. I think it is the network card, the driver or the hardware, I don't know, but while it just start up, it takes forever for the wireless to start detecting again. Anyone know why and what can I do about it. (BTW, I reformatted in hope it will fix it, it didn't).

My building has a free wifi service. There are routers on each floor. My computer has built in wireless lan. It will recognize signals from those who have installed ATT's 2wire system, but not a single signal from and othe routers in the building. I am now using a usb wifi adapter which has detected all the signals. I have reinstalled the drivers and tried to connect the wireless lan but it has been unsuccessful. The windows connection software will not work. It seems strange to be able to detect the ATT connections but not any of the buildings signals.

Hi, here is an e-mail I sent to Belkin tech support ... but I haven't heard back so I thought I'd try here. Can anyone help me?

Hi, I'm trying to set up a Belkin F5D6020 ver2 wireless adapter on my IBM 233mhz laptop running WIN98se. I want to connect to my existing wired network. I have a cable modem connected to my Belkin F5D6231-4 router. I have 2 PCs connected to the router via ethernet cable. The wired part of the network is working beautifully. All wired PCs can talk to each other. When I have my wired network adapter installed on the laptop, it works great too.

I installed the installation software on the laptop using the EASY option. I plug in the adapter card when prompted and Windows installs the drivers. My computer doesn’t ask me to restart so I restart manually. The monitor utility comes up and, after a minute, a warning message displays ‘The access point you are attempting to access does not appear to exist. Please select the new one’. The prompts on the utility screen read:

Profile name: Default
Operating mode: infrastructure
Channel = 3 (greyed out)
Tx Rate = Auto
MAC address = 00-30-BD-D2-BF-06
status = scanning

There is no signal strength or link quality. I click on the site survey tab and there is nothing listed. I click rescan and still nothing. The green link LED on the card is flashing. The WLAN light on the router is solid green.

On my PC web browser I go to to access the router set up utility.

I'm hoping you guys can help...

I upgraded my mobo, cpu, ram and video card today. I kept my HDD, optical drives, and my wireless adapter (Edimax EW-7128g)

In my zeal to install my new components I had forgotten to uninstall the drivers of the edimax, which I was going to keep, and my old ATI radeon, which I was replacing.

After installing the new components, every thing started up fine, except the edimax wireless adapter would refuse to connect, or even detect any wireless networks. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers countless times, swapped the wireless card around in the different pci slots, but still came up with the same problem.

I noticed that when I checked the network adapters in control panel, it would keep calling the Edimax "wireless adapter (2)" or "wireless adapter (3)" depending on which pci slot I put it in. I would try renaming it to simply "wireless adapter" but it would state that an adapter by that name already exists. I'm guessing this is some holdover from being connected to the old motherboard.

In short, new mobo recognizes the card, latest drivers for windows 7 are installed, but windows keeps telling me there's an error with the drivers, and every time I try and search for wireless connections, it won't even search...it will just say "no connections available." Was this whole issue precipitated by forgetting to uninstall the drivers and the card itself before upgrading my mobo?

A:Upgraded motherboard & cpu, now wireless card won't detect networks

have you re-installed the software and chipset drivers etc - or are you hoping the Harddrive with the software on works ?

Normally you would re-install the windows software onto the new hardware - as you may get a few issues

can you do this

{Device Manager}
Post back the results in device manager
Start > control Panel {Vista set to classic view}> system > {Vista, device manager on left hand side} {XP hardware Tab, device manager button} >
windows 7
start > control panel> System and Security> Device Manager

network adaptors, click on the + > post back the devices listed there
are there any ! ? or X
post a screen shot of the device manager - network adapters

To post a screen shot of the active window, hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
To upload it to the forum, open the full reply window and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here

i suspect the best way is to remove the wireless adapter from device manager and re-install - lets see the above

I just installed a M2 card.....the Samsung 950 Pro and installed windows 8.1 on it. The M2 card is in the M2 slot of the Sabertooth x99 motherboard. When I am booted into windows 8.1/M2 card, I can see my SSD that has windows 7 on it.

But when I boot into windows 7 I can not see the M2 card, I can see other internal hard drives I use for storage, but I cant seem to get it to see the M2 card. I will say that I have also on another SSD that has windows 10 on it and when I boot into windows 10 I can see the M2 card and the SSD that windows 7 is on.

I have installed the Drivers for the M2 card the best I can, but since windows 7 cant see the M2 device, I cant really install the drivers properly.

Any ideas? I am using ACHI and installed windows 7 with GPT UEFI. And I can also boot into each SSD OS with no problems, strangely the boot manager doesn't see windows 7, but does allow me to multi boot with windows 10 and 8.1

For the past few weeks I have been having problems with my HP laptop.

For starters my laptop will not restart. I try to restart it and it shuts down, but won't reboot all of the way. It gets stuck on the black screen you get just before the HP sceens comes up. So I have to press the power button ( after which I do, I get a loud POP sound before the computer shuts off ) and then turn it on again myself.
Also, if my computer goes in to sleep mode due to inactivity, it will not wake up. I have to press the power button to turn it off, and then start it up again.

After this happens, my laptop cannot detect any networks. I have to unplug the charger, and then I have to take out the battery and put it back in before it detects networks.

I took it to best buy ( where I bought the computer and have a warranty at ) and they did a diagnostic test and determined that I had several viruses causing the problems. After paying 200 bucks they ''fixed'' my computer and I brought it home, only to have the same exact problems I was having before.

This computer isn't even a year old... What could be wrong?

Hi guys~ this is my first post, I just joined the club!

Thanks in advance for all the help you can provide.

I've been having pbs with my wireless recently. It worked fine at home until I went to visit some friends in England and couldn't detect their own network in their house (I had used it in the past so Windows should've detected it automatically).

I opened the DELL Wireless Utility, which I didn't even know existed, and it could detect their network as well as their neighbours! I tried to disable Windows and let DELL configure my wireless, tried to add, connect to network etc, but nada. I re-enabled the Windows utility and now that I'm back home it's doing the same... It won't detect any networks! (DELL utility still does by the way)

What I did:

- I restarted Wireless Zero configuration: No change.
- I disabled Windows Firewall (I thought it might help?): No change either.
- I tried to update the driver: apparently it's working fine.
- I did the simplest (most stupid?) thing... switched the Wireless button off and on and off and on again....: It's working but still no network.
- I tried to set up a new wireless network with the wizard but since my Wireless is work
- ESET Smart Security says I've no viruses.
- Malwarebytes says I've no malwares.

Everything looks OK...but I'm still not getting connected with wireless and have to use a cable plugged directly into the internet box.

Hey guys,

I did a clean install of Windows 7 on my desktop last night upgrading from Vista. The install went smoothly and all was working until I tried to install my wireless adapter (TrendNET TEW-424UB) and discovered that although the driver installed, it could not detect any wireless networks. My first thought was that the adapter just wasn't compatible with 7 so I went out and bought a DLink DWA-125 only to discover I'm having the same problem. So I googled this problem and discovered that a great number of people are also having trouble with Windows 7. After browsing through the forums I've been unable to find a general fix for all of this, I found something about the WLAN config utility that 7 has, I disabled it and tried uninstalling/installing the adapter drivers with no luck. And then the same thing when re-enabled it again.

*Edit* I forgot to mention, the network works perfectly without a problem. As I type this there are two other computers connected via wireless to it and when the computer had Vista installed it worked without a problem.

So my question is, has this problem been solved yet or am I stuck without an internet connection?

Thanks for your time.

Hi, I'm new here because I've been searching everywhere and I can't find an answer. Recently, I bought and downloaded The Sims 3 Supernatural, because I'm a huge fan and have all the games. Well, after I played the first time, and shut it off, my screen resolution went really big, so I adjusted that, then I noticed that my computer has been very laggy, and it recently told me it doesn't support 'Aero effects' So, I assumed it was the game, and uninstalled it. Then I re installed it, and now it is telling me that it doesn't have a graphics card to support it. I am not very intelligent when it comes to computers, and I have no idea what to do. I went to the screen to check what graphics card I has, and it says that it is unavailable.

I have an emachines T2460 that i installed a video card in a month ago after flashing the BIOS so that i could disable the onboard video. For some reason It will not detect my video card. It is an ATI Radeon 9600xt. It worked fine before so I'm not sure why it won't detect it. The new CD has SP2 and my other was SP1, which i don't care for but nothing i can see to do about that. AM37 mobo.
Any suggestions?

A:Windows won't detect my video card

by doing a "full restore" are you referring to a reformat and reinstall of windows or did you just load the new XP on top of the old one? Also did you install your video card drivers?

and I cant imagine why an install of Xp would require you to reflash your bios.

Hello dear community, I've just formatted my notebook again and installed Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The problem is that system is unable to detect my graphics card - Radeon HD 7600M, which was working fine before. Device manager is showing it as a standard VGA graphics card. My notebook is also using Intel HD graphics 4000 and it's working fine after manually instaling required drivers. When I am trying to install drivers for Radeon, two things are happening: - setup manager returns error message that installation process failed(I've even tried to edit "InstallManager.cfg" file and change "WorkaroundInstall=false" to true, setup manager installed everything(AMD catalyst, etc.), just not the driver - as soon as setup manager is trying to detect my graphics card, blue screen appears and notebook is rebooting It is pretty random which one of the above things will happen. I've tried installing few different drivers and nothing changed. I've also tried(in the device manager) to manually choose the location with the driver - Windows tells me that system knows it's the Radeon HD 7600M device, but cannot install the drivers. During the format, I deleted ALL partitions and created new ones. I remember that there was a small partition(which I left untouched during the earlier notebook format), but this time I deleted it too. Maybe this partition had some important HP data which is causing this problem now? I am also attaching a screenshot of my device... Read more

Hi: I think that HP has the wrong switchable graphics driver listed on your notebook's support page. See if this W7 AMD/Intel graphics driver works. You must only install the AMD graphics driver, which installs the drivers for both the Intel and AMD GPU's. This package provides the AMD High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver and Catalyst Control Center for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. For notebooks with switchable graphics modes, this package includes drivers for both graphics processing units (GPUs). Switchable graphics enable users to switch between a power-saving graphics mode (normally used under battery power) and a high-performance graphics mode. If high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) video output is supported, this package also installs the HDMI Audio Driver. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp58501-59000/sp58894.exe I don't understand the language shown in your screen shot. Can you translate to English what the other two devices that need drivers are? I'll take a guess and say that the PCI Device needs this driver... This package contains the driver that enables the Realtek Card Reader in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The card reader enables users to read from or write to supported removable storage cards, which are typically used in digital cameras, digital music players, and cellular phones. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp61501-... A:Windows 7 64-bit Ult does not detect my sound card

sujex, welcome to the forums.

Your card is one of the few Creative cards that I know very little about,or what it really is. Could you pull the card and post back the model number that is on it, will look something SBxxxx. With that number I will be able to track down whether your SOL, or if there is possibly a modded driver set that will work with it in 7.

This is a problem I have only just discovered, my laptop cant detect my SD card from my camera. My laptop is from the Acer Aspire 3630 range, (quite old, I know. ) I know this is a WinXP problem because when I use Ubuntu or the same SD card on any other Windows machine it works fine.

Any help or comments you can give me regarding this problem will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,

Hi! I am sorry if I have mistaken the topic!
I installed windows 7 ultimate x64 on my Asus x555ld-xx142d today. I was aware from the start of how difficult it will be to find the right drivers since the laptop is made to run on a windows 8.1 operating system. After hours of trying, I think I have made a big mess because almost everything seems to be working fine besides the WiFi. There is no WiFi icon in the systray and when I try to configure it, I get the message "Windows cannot detect any wireless network interfaces". PLUS, my desktop brightness is changing per minute by itself from low luminosity to bright.

Here are some attachments that I think might give you an idea about the problem:

I would really appreciate your help. Thanks!

I've got an X55, running 10TP on it.
BUT it was sold like yours as W8,
However it was originally setup by Asus as W7, and moved to 8 by them.

ALL of the drivers are available via asus support/drivers.

I installed a microsoft mouse and when I did the restart my wireless
completely dissapered. I can get a conection using a cable, and the wire
less signal is there because I am on in now (android) So... I`ll list every
thing I've already tried so not to waste anyones time.
After the Complete system restore...which I saw the wireless stuff reinstall
I thought I was gtg..but sadly not even that worked.
I looked up the drivers and tried installing, that failed. When you look
in the device manager there is no wireless adapter
It's an Acer Aspire 5253, win 7/64
I have spent days reading and trying to find the solution
hopefully someone that knows can give me some help

You might try using System Restore to go back to a point in time before the mouse drivers were installed.

If you can use the wired connection it may be worth while to check if Windows updates has anything for you.

1 week ago, my HP desktop decided that it couldn't find the wireless connection anymore. I didn't install anything new. I may have defragmented the system around that time. I did the trouble shoot and the wired connection works fine with the ethernet cable. Also other computers in the house can connect to the wireless router no problem.
Under Manage wireless networks, when I try to add a network it tells me "windows cannot detect any wireless network interfaces"
Not sure what else to try.
Under Network adaptors, I see Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller, it says the device is working properly and I have also updated the driver. Any other thoughts on why it shut off suddenly? Did I somehow delete the wireless adaptor or is the Realtek adaptor for wireless as well.
Thank you.

A:Windows cannot detect any Wireless network interfaces

Welcome to Seven Forums,

Can you please post your Device Manager, expand Network Adapters so that we can see if you have the Wi-Fi Adapter? Here's a general Tutorial on how you may access Device Manager?

If your Wi-Fi adapter is missing, you may download the driver from HP site. The link that I gave you will also give you a step by step guide on how to install the driver.

An update will be appreciated.

Hello guys

When i bought my comuter it was without any operating system to save some money, because i had my own windows 7 32 bit. I installed it and everything worked, except that the computer could not detect any wireless network adapter. Luckily i had a friend who's brother could help me. Unfortunately i do not know how or what he did, but some how he managed to make it work.

But a few months later i wanted to upgrade my 32 bit to 64, since i could only use 3,16 GB ram, and my computer has 8GB. So i bought a win 7 home premium 64 bit and installed it. Now i face the same problem, my computer can not detect any wireless network adapter, though i'm 99% sure that my computer has one.

I hope you guys can help me, because this is really freaking me out. Especially because this is my school computer and without any internet acces i can't participate in class.

A:Windows can not detect wireless network adapter

Go to 'device manager' right click the missing driver, select properties, click the details tab, Select Hardware IDs from the property drop down, right click on the first value, select copy and post it here, should look something like this: PCI\VEN_10EC&DEV_8168&SUBSYS_84321043&REV_06

Hello guys, I have a intel motherboard dh61w. i have sound card from a local company something called PCI add-on ESS. i have problem loading the driver in windows 7 64 bit, it works fine for win 7 32-bit. i have attached the screen shot...please if some one can help me out from this..

thanx in advance

A:Unable to detect the sound card in windows 7 64-bit

I have a recording studio with several 32 bit audio drivers. Usually not a problem to have 32 bit devices or drivers in Win 7 64 bit.

I would suspect a problem with the sound card more than the drivers. PCI suggests old hardware. The motherboard you have is a new board and the PCI sockets on most new boards of this type are actually "bridged" from the PCIe bus and not a true PCI slot. This can cause problems with some PCI devices.

Hey guys,

A:windows 7 wont detect my sound card

danneth, welcome to the forums.

First thing that comes to mind is have you installed any motherboard/chipset drivers? Windows 7 has a fairly good inventory of drivers, but depending on the age of the hardware it may be not much more than enough to provide basic functionality, and take actual drivers from the hardware manufacturer to get full function out of it.

Hey guys,
This is an important post for me as its regarding my Graphics Card (as i use it a lot). I have a Lenovo G400 laptop with intel i5 3230m , Windows 8.1 and Switchable Graphics(Intel HD 4000 and AMD Radeon HD 8750m). Recently this morning i kept my laptop for an download and went away from it for a while.Later when i returned i saw that my laptop was on lock screen. I unlocked it to see for the download and it said that could not detect hardware or hardware drivers for my AMD Graphics card. Later i saw it could not even detect my intel graphics card. I managed to download and install intel graphics card and it could detect it but when i tried to install amd grahpics drivers it failed.
It cant even detect the AMD Graphics Card.I tried a system restore and it didnt work. According to me it was due to an windows update recently(so i did a system restore).
This is pretty Important for me , so please reply all the suggestions you have

So yeah, i just got Windows 7 Ultimate x64, and now there is no sound at all.
When i holding the mouse over the sound logo next to the clock it says: "No audio outout device is installed."
And whenever i try to install new drivers it says: There is no device installed on your computer that support this.
But the soundcard is in there, it worked fine untill i changed to Windows 7 Ultimate x64.

And i?ve tried almost every driver possible for my soundcard, and nothing works, just the same error message.
I?ve also tried taking the card out from its place and putting it back in again. Still nothing.

Any help here?

I uninstalled my nvidia graphics card via device manager because I was having annoying freezes and nothing I tried fixed it. But when I restarted windows, the graphics cards didn't appear any more and I couldn't install the drivers back. Since it's a laptop I can't just unplug it and plug it in again. How do I get it back?

A:Uninstalled graphics card. Windows cannot detect it now

Do not try to install it through Device Manager.

I just did mine less than an hour ago. So maybe this will help.

After reboot W7 will load but have poor resolution. Go to where the Nvidia driver is downloaded (mine was in the Download folder) double click the Nvidia driver download and follow the prompts to install.

It may show it did not install the driver but don't worry just reboot when it is finished installing or says it didn't install properly.
That is what mine did and after a reboot all was installed properly.

Also after reboot the Monitor will show in Device Manager.

I have bought a secondhand computer but having set it up I am unable to connect to the internet.
I get the following message
"Windows could not detect any wired or wireless network cards installed on your machine. If you are connecting to the Internet through your phone line using a dial-up connection you will need to contact your internet service provider. Otherwise please make sure that the network card drivers are installed properly or contact the manufacturer of your personal computer for further assistance"
I have looked in device manager and cannot see network adapters as a heading.anywhere
The Computers brand is Gigabyte Technology.co.ltd
Model: 7VKMP
Serial 1.X
I have installed a piece of software which detects what hardware is installed. It says it has a Network Adapter 1 Voyager 220V usb remote NDIS device installed.
I would be grateful for any advice please. I hope I have given you enough information
