I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I bought Yoga C930-13IKB a month ago. I have 3 Apple Thunderbolt Display on my university and home. I tried to plug Thunderbolt 3 (on laptop-side) to Thundebolt 2 (Apple display) adapter, laptop can recognize this display but i can't use(firstly I heard device connection sound after 5 seconds the disconnect sound heard) (I think its about thunderbolt security level). In Intel forum same problem is also showed yoga 920 users, Intel says you need to contact with your manufacturer. Briefly I can't use my thunderbolt future on my laptop. I tried my colleagues different brand laptops with thunderbolt 3 connection they are worked. Has anyone managed to use a display port to USB-C cable to connect to a 4k monitor on a 920? If so which one? I haven't managed to connect my monitor over a display port connection. So far I've only had success with an HDMI to USB-C connector, which gives me 30Hz refresh rate

Hi, I think I'm having some problem with my Yoga 920's thunderbolt port. I bought a StarTech thunderbolt 3 dock. When I first time plug in the dock, everything works fine the thunderbolt software pops up and ask me the authorized the new dock. And I click always trust this device. Then the windows crushed with a blue screen and a QR code on it. After 920 restarted, and I tried the dock again, it was identified as USB 3.1 hub but no USB connection. And when I tried to open the thunderbolt software, it shows me the following warning.I tried to update the driver, but the installer said it was all ready. And then I downloaded HWINFO64 to check, I could not find the thunderbolt 3 controller under the PCI-Express X4 BUS. Is that means my thunderbolt 3 port is broken? What should I do with this? Btw, when I plug in the thunderbolt 3 dock, the powersupply is also connected, and the dock also provide the power, two power supply input at the same time, will that be a reason of the crash which also burn the thunderbolt 3 controller? Thank you.

I'm using the thunderbolt port for a single connection to a Dell usb-c dock (power in, KVM out, speakers, network, etc.).  The 720 charges real slow and the battery status message (in Lenovo Settings app) states that the "AC adapter cannot provide enough power for normal operation of your computer".  The Dell usb-c docks are powered with a 180w power supply that provides 60w of power to the computer, which is more than the 45w power supply that comes with the 720.  I have tried 3 different Dell docks, including a Dell thunderbolt 3 dock with a 240w power supply. I have to believe this is an issue with the Thunderbolt 3 driver on the 720 or something BIOS related.  BTW, the 720 has Windows 10 pro loaded (updated from the home version loaded by default) and Bitlocker enabled.  Don't think these changes have anything to do with the issue. I purchased Lenovo's thinkpad usb-c dock (which states that it's universal) and hope it charges the 720.

Hello - I wish to connect my 24" Dell monitor (it has every port imaginable) to my Lenovo Yoga 720 WITHOUT using the Thunderbolt port. Is this possible? I am a Jazz musician and I with to use the external display for (1) reading complicatedf [e.g., classical piano] sheet music and (2) for use with DAWs (digital audio workstations, such as Abelton, Pro Tools, etc., where there is LOTS of info crammed in tight and a large monitor is needed). My Yoga's TB port is used for a 500 gig Samsung external hard drive.  The Samsung houses my music programs (e.g., the DAWs, Ivory piano, Easy Drummer, etc.), and I placed them there for the fast speed (this really helps eliminate the latency on the pianos).  I don't need fast speed with the monitor; my prior Lenovo G780 worked just fine with my 24" Dell monitor; the G780 had an HDMI port. I don't find a "TB dock" that has (1) HDMI, display port, etc. AND (2) another TB port.  Does such a thing exist? I've tried the crappy "USB montitors."  They (1) suck and (2) are not 24". Am I screwed here? Thanks, - Jeff Newton (Jazz saxophonist and pianist)

Sorry for language mistakes. I have Lenovo Yoga 720 15 inch + gtx 1050 (Model: 80X700A3PB ) windows 10 Home (newest bios, drivers, windows update). Two weeks ago i bought Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 40AC (price 100 $ with power supply and usb-c cable - second hand, image in attachement). This is my short two weeks experience with this docking station. Pros:- works well with two monitors 1920x1080 (one connected to display port, one to hdmi on docking station), no lags, problems ect- all usb sockets in dock work correctly with pendrive- i connect mouse receiver to docking station (plus two monitors) - no mouse lags ect - mouse work correctly Cons:- dock does not power up laptop (you need to connect the power supply to laptop)- power button on dock does nothing Pros/Cons ????:- i noticed youtube movie acceleration on chrome (every second movie accelerate on left monitor, barely noticed). This is probably not dock station problem becouse on Firefox this problem does not appear.- it happened to me (one or two times out of many times) when i disconnect and connect usb-c cable from dock , dock was not recognized. Switch off/on dock station helps.

Hey,

I am on a laptop with a gtx 765m. I am trying to connect a thunderbolt port to a display port monitor. My understanding is that thunderbolt is backwards compatible with display port. But, for the life of me I can not get it to work.

I am using a minidisplay port -> display port cord.

I have ended up hooking the monitor up with an hdmi cord for now. FYI the monitor is a 2560x1440 monitor if that matters.

Thanks,

Do you know for sure the video is ported through the Thunderbolt connector?

Any chance we could get your computer model number?

I've had my x1 yoga 3rd gen for about a year now, and love it. I've been using a thunderbolt 3 eGPU dock (aorus 1070 gaming box) as a dock for about the same amount of time now, since it gives me the convenience power and portability. Other than the occasional visual glitches and restarts, I haven't had any issues when I unplug my laptop from the eGPU dock, or plugging it in. However, yesterday after I unplugged my laptop from the eGPU dock, my laptop kept making a "connected USB" and "disconnected USB" sound. It looked like my Thunderbolt 3 software app kept crashing and rebooting. I also noticed that none of my usb c/thunderbolt 3 ports were working; the laptop says it's charging with nothing plugged in, and when I tried plugging in a charger, it wouldn't charge. The only solution I found was to disable Thunderbolt 3 in the BIOS, but I'm not sure if this is a software issue, or if there's a part of my motherboard that's fried. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for troubleshooting?

Hello there, I recently bought the Yoga 920 and tried to connect the HP Omen Accelerator for use as an eGPU. However, something seems to be wrong with the thunderbolt connection. When I connect the accelerator, the device connects for a split second (typical USB connection sound) and then immediately disconnects again (typical USB disconnecting sound). I tried different setups for the eGPU, I tried every possible driver I could find, I tried a different Thunderbolt cable and I followed every step on the Omen Website, nothing changed. Now, after looking at the Thunderbolt Controller Driver it tells me that the Controller-Driver-Version as well as the Networking-Driver-Version are unknown. I suspect, that there is something wrong with the thunderbolt driver/fírmware. Could it be that somehow the drivers aren't recognized? Any ideas as to where I could continue from here? Any advice is appreciated! RegardsMrKnowNothing Edit: To anyone who has the same problem. Sometimes the easiest solutions are the best. Two things could'Ve been the problem: 1. My antivirus blocking something. I uninstalled it and installed a different one, while I was working on the Omen problem, can't verify if that was the reason though. 2. I had the Thunderbolt Programm Window open when I connected the device. Not sure if I had tried that before, but it worked. So, it was probably either the antivirus or the thunderbolt software not being open before connecting.... Read more

Does anyone have the Apple Thunderbolt Display working with the Yoga 920? It should work with a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 adapter, but I can't get it to work for me. When I plug in the display it makes a little chirp and the Thunderbolt software asks me to authorize it. The device then shows up in the list of Thunderbolt devices but it is not connected. Authorizing the device again doesn't do anything. The display stays dark and any USB device plugged into it doesn't show up and doesn't even appear to be powered on. My guess is some magic has to happen to get the device to fully turn on, which seems like a driver problem but I can't find a Windows driver for it. Any suggestions would be welcome.

I have a P1 GEN2 OLED. While the internet is flooded with complaints of the OLED screen itself, the thunderbolt 3 port of my P1 GEN2 magically stopped working for no reason.  I have been using the laptop with an external display ever since I got the laptop. All went well. Suddenly from yesterday, the external display starts turning into a blue sreen with "NO SIGNAL" shown on it.  I had a windows cumulcative update (KB4532693) and windows security update (KB4524244) yesterday and I suspected that the update might be the culprit. I rolled back the OS. No change. Still NO SIGNAL.  I searched this Forum. Played with Thunderbold 3 menu in the Bios. Everything was enabled and every single option of "security level" was tried. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Intel Mangaement Engine software. It is already the latest version. Reinstalled it. Still NO SIGNAL.  I checked Nvidia driver. Latest version already.  In sum, the problem is: the thunderbolt port is still able to power the extenal display but just simply does not pass signal to the external display. HDMI port, however, still passes signal if use an HDMI cable.  I want to give it a shot here to see if anyone has experienced similar issues and how they sovled the problem before I call Lenovo technical support, the staff of which does not seem to know more than some people here on this Forum.

I recently just bought the lg 38cb99-w - https://www.lg.com/us/business/commercial-display/products/desktop-monitors/lg-38CB99-W - to connect to my X1 Yoga Gen 3 laptop thinking that one USB-C port for power and display would be very convenient. However this monitor won't stay connected to my laptop.  Whenever I plug the monitor in Windows 10 plays it's "new connection sound", my screen goes black and a couple seconds later my screen is displayed on this 38" beauty. However every 15-30 seconds afterwards the display will flash black for a few seconds as my laptop disconnects and then reconnects. It doesn't matter if my laptop is open or closed, the constant disconnects occur (although when my laptop is closed the frequency drops to every few minutes).  Either way, it renders this monitor so frustrating that it's uselses and am figuring out which product I need to return.  Any advice or suggestions are recommended So far I have used lenovo vantage to upgrade all firmware. My buddy also plugged his Dell laptop into the monitor and had no issues whatsoever. So I'm leaning torwards this being a Lenovo issue and not LG. Thanks,

I am trying to connect my Yoga 720-15IKB laptop via Thunderbolt 3 directly to an LG display that supports 5120x2160 resolution. I have confirmed that the LG display works at this resolution via Thunderbolt 3 with my MacBook Pro. However the Yoga 720 laptop does not allow me to exceed 3840x2160 resolution. I have updated to the latest drivers (Intel Graphics 26.21.14.3086, Nvidia Geforce 430.86). I did some research and found that the Intel HD Graphics 630 onboard adapter cannot exceed 4K resolution, but the nVidia Geforce GTX 1050 can go to much higher resolutions. I have tried to get the nVidia GPU to activate by going to the nVidia control panel and setting it to be the default adapter for 3D rendering and PhysX etc. However so far it has not worked. Also the BIOS does not provide a discrete-GPU-only option. So I have 2 questions: 1) Can I display 5120x2160 resolution from my Yoga 720-15IKB laptop via Thunderbolt 3?2) Is there a way of forcing the computer to use the nVidia GPU only? And will this potentially allow me to exceed the 4k resolution limitation of the Intel HD Graphics 630 GPU?

Hi,
I myself own an XPS 15 9550 and noticed that I was not getting the full Thunderbolt 3 speedover it's Thunderbolt 3 port. I expected speeds around 2700MB/s, because of the overhead withthe theoretical gross speed of 3870MB/s, but I only ever got 1400MB/s out of it.
I did some digging and found out that none of the XPS notebooks with Thunderbolt 3 are evenable to achieve the full TB3 speeds, because they are only connected with two PCI Express lanes (x2.3).You can read more about this on the following links:Dell Subreddit PostChipset Digging on Forum

Thunderbolt 3 and the promised speeds were the MAIN REASON I even bought this notebook.I feel very cheated here.

I have an odd issue with my mini port that connects to monitors and big screen TVs: It won't work. Sometimes it works fine. I turn on the monitor or TV and connect the mini port adaptor (I have one for HDMI and one for Display Port) and the screen appears on the monitor or TV. Other times it simply DOES NOT WORK. Then, several days later, I boot up and connect to the port and it works as if nothing was ever wrong. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to why this happens. When it does not work, I have tried everything and it refuses to recongize and identify the external display, which does not show in Display Properties. I have rebooted. I have tried connecting to the port in every order there is, before I turn on the Y 900, after. I have tried turning on the monitor before and after, or connecting the adatptor the monitor before and after booting up, etc. NOTHING WORKS. And it happens with all monitors and various cables and adaptors. There are times when I need it to be able to see my work (video editing, audio editing, Photoshop) because the native screen on the Y 900 is just too small. Why does this happen?  How can I get it work when I need it to work but it isn't working? Thank you.
