My Bluetooth disappeared - Intel Bluetooth drivers corrupted

Q: My Bluetooth disappeared - Intel Bluetooth drivers corrupted

My bluetooth functionality and even the icon disappeaered from my laptop. The HP Service Assistant tried to do a network diagnostic and couldn't find a problem. It said to go to the HP support site and load latest Bluetooth drivers. The only drivers shown were for a Broadcom Bluetooth. Not thinking I had a different Bluetoth system I downloaded and installed the Broadcom drivers. Then I went to the device manager and saw that I did not have a Broadcom system, but an Intel system. (I should have done this earlier I know). The device manager showed that the drivers were probably corrupted and it couldn't validate the digital signature for the drivers that were there. (Code 52) I revisited the device manager and looked at the properties tab of the drivers and the events tab under that. It said there that Device USB/VID-8087&PID etc. needed further installation. Now I am confused and frustrated. I don't want to try to instal this device if it is not the correct Intel device, but rather the Broadcom device. In other words, I don't want to screw things up even more. Can someone please tell me what to do?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have a Sony Vaio Pro 13 SVP1321M2EB and upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1 when I bought the laptop about 8 months ago. I had no problems with it until a month ago ? after an automatic upgrade of 8.1 my Bluetooth adaptor disabled itself automatically and then uninstalled itself. I reinstalled a Bluetooth adaptor and had no problem for a week or so. Then the wifi connection would come and go and I would have to troubleshoot every 5 mins to get it working again ? I thought it was due to our internet because it?s satellite and very slow. Then both the Bluetooth and the wifi adaptors disappeared. I have reinstalled Intel Proset Wireless but my computer won?t recognise it even though it appears in Control Panel and now they don?t even appear as Hidden Items on the Device Manager. I have uninstalled and reinstalled both adaptors both through the Sony support site and directly through Intel numerous times and still nothing! I tried to go back to Windows 8 using the reset/refresh through the Assist button but I am told ?the drive where Windows is installed is locked?. I don?t know if it?s a hardware problem or a software problem?I have searched and searched everywhere online and done what has been suggested but still nothing! Advice please - thank you!

Hello Every once in a while, my Microsoft bluetooth mouse stops working. Then I check the bluetooth device in the Windows device manager and it is no longer there, as if my laptop didn't have bluetooth at all. The only work-arround is to reboot. Then it works for a while, can be days or sometimes maybe even weeks before it stops working again. I found this article https://support.lenovo.com/ca/en/solutions/ht506394 which seems to describe my problem. Unfortunately, the proposed solution doesn't work as my driver is already up to date (20.100.0.4) Any idea?

installed intel ac-3160 dual band + blue tooth in a Sony notebook system wont allow blue tooth to start.
also there is no interface available to connect any hardware to it, i know it has something to do with some Vaio software on the system.
it allows me to use dual band mode and it shows that blue tooth is present but disables it claiming interference with 2.4 GHz band.
now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.
any input would be appreciated.

Hey guys,

So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.

default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off

and repeat.

I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)

Windows 8 was able to install all my Function Keys so I'm going to assume this will be the case for others. Good luck

I have been using my laptop with a bluetooth mouse for a few years but the mouse suddenly 'disconnected' this morning and now the bluetooth settings on my laptop do not seem to work and have disappeared from the control panel.

When the mouse has disconnected in the past I usually reconnected from the bluetooth icon on the notification toolbar in the bottom right corner of the screen but this icon has disappeared.

I have managed to get access to the bluetooth settings by going into control panel>hardware and sound>view devices and printers then right clicking on my PC and selecting bluetooth settings but when I try to check the 'show bluetooth icon in notification area' box this message appears:

'An error occurred while Windows was saving your settings. The Bluetooth device might be unplugged. The following settings were not saved: Discoverability settings, Connection settings'

Does anyone know how I can get my bluetooth up and running again?

Thanks

(the bluetooth mouse has disappeared from the devices and printers section of the control panel and my computer performed an update earlier this morning)

Bluetooth has disappeared from my computer. I had it installed when I bought the computer, and have uploaded pictures from my cell to the computer many times. Now I cannot find it anywhere.
I have done a system restore, but it made no difference.
When I boot, the computer shows my cell phone in the dropdown, but when I approach it, it disappears.
Should I download Bluetooth software from Dell?
I would appreciate any suggestions.

Hello Pinamaraj, and welcome to Vista Forums.

You might see if restarting the computer may allow it to return if it is listed in your startup programs. If not, then check in the installed software for the bluetooth device to see it has an option in the settings to show a icon in the notification area.

Hope this helps,

OK, this problem has me perplexed. Bluetooth seems to have completely vanished from my computer. I've reinstalled the driver to no effect. The only thing I can think of is that I usually kept the adapter disabled, and that I deleted the HP program which toggled that adapter on and off. Other than that, I've got nothing.

Has my bluetooth adapter gone bad? Has it gotten disconnected inside my laptop? Is there a piece of software I need to install to make my computer recognize it? How much would a new adapter cost? Is there a way to get a new bluetooth adapter for my computer?

Thanks,
AA

A:Bluetooth has Simply Disappeared

It would help if you provided the model of the HP computer.

The fact that you deleted the utility that HP provided to toggle the BlueTooth device on/off seems to me to be the key. I would go to the HP website and see if I could download and reinstall that utility.

It's also possible that the BlueTooth device has failed. If that's the case, you might be able to find a replacement someplace like Ebay by searching for the model number of the device. You also could buy a small USB BlueTooth dongle, I have one on this netbook I'm using now, it works well and was pretty cheap too.

When I first got my HP ENVY, back in 2014, I saw in the settings that their was bluetooth available and I thought that it was a cool feature but at the time I didn't have anything bluetooth to connect to it. I was running Windows 8 at that time but when I updated to Windows 8.1 my bluetooth setting was gone. I didn't think anything of it until recently (still running Windows 8.1 because I didn't like the Windows 10 layout) when the only things I have are bluetooth. Wireless bluetooth headphones, speakers, even my phone only transfers data through bluetooth. I was wondering where my bluetooth has gone. It couldn't have just disappeared because it was there when I got the computer. Would upgrading it to Windows 10 help? Do I need to install a driver that might have not been in the Windows 8.1 update? I would like to enjoy this feature so any help would be appreciated.

I also have this problem, I use a bluetooth mouse and minimum once a day the mouse stops working, every time the bluetooth disappeared from the devices. I either wait a couple of seconds and click the mouse and it works again or I activate the touchpad and it starts working then. Sometimes it takes a while to reappear and I would love to have a solution for this nuisance.

My laptop used to have Bluetooth, but it seems to have disappeared. When I go to the Settings > Devices > Bluetooth and Other Devices, it has the "add a bluetooth device option, but there is no longer a switch to turn the Bluetooth on. I checked Services and made sure all the Bluetooth services were running. Some were not, so I turned them on, but it did not help.

There is a Bluetooth section in the Device Manager, though it's "events" tab says it migrated and requested an install (I have no idea what that means, but I've attached some images). When I run the Windows Troubleshooter for the Bluetooth, it says this device is not bluetooth capable. I know it used to be! Plus, if it were not, why would there be Bluetooth stuff in the device manager?

Does anyone have any idea what could have happened, and how I can fix this?

This is the second time this happened - the first time it has fixed miraculously itsself after a few hours of me reading up and trying everything...........when I gave up, in some time it just resumed.

Hello, I have a problem with Windows 8.1 .
I turned on Bluetooth this morning, and as it sometimes does, I got a BSOD, because of my phone trying to read some music on pc via Bluetooth.
After my PC restarted, Action Center asked me to check for solutions to some unsolved problems but couldn't send informations to Microsoft because I was in Flight mode.
And then in Device manager, there was a yellow warning near Bluetooth module, under the Bluetooth Section, and the Device Manager stopped this device, because of some detected issues...
Under PC settings, the Bluetooth section had disappeared...
I tried to update the drivers, but Windows couldn't correctly install the ones it detected online because of some errors :/
I restarted several times my PC, but nothing changed, so I decided to uninstall the Bluetooth module, for it to be automatically reinstalled once I restart my PC...
But now it is gone, even in Hidden devices, and Windows doesn't detect any Bluetooth Card or anything...
The option isn't naturally even showing in PC Settings ...

Could you help me please, having the Bluetooth module back in the Device Manager, and in PC settings, for me to be able to use it ?
I already downloaded and re-installed the Bluetooth Suite by Asus (with the drivers and every thing), but it did not change anything :/

Thank you very much guys !!

I have bought a HP envy 15 and upon using it a couple of times I turned it on again and Bluetooth had DISAPPEARED it was non existent in any settings or the Control Panel or anything except in Device Manager. After excessive clicking around I found that it had been turned off so I turned it back on.
I have used it for a while since until I turned it on today and found it to be again completely disappeared, I have tried everything within my knowledge to fix it and right now I have re-remembered how utterly worthless HP are at making hardware. I cannot find how to turn it back on again if it is the same error, but I do not think it is.
If I go into my device manager now (see image) it has the exclamation mark through it which means what exactly?? Clicking to update the driver does nothing, restarting does nothing, I can't see how uninstalling or disabling it will do anything. Please advise how I can fix this.

Not much help, but I had to comment. How the heck did they get to install windows 8?

I was using an envy 15 at the time of the release of Windows 8. It just refused to accept an install, stopping halfway with an error . I tried every trick known and, in the end, HP advised that there was no solution and the laptop was incompatible!! I sold the machine finally.

Just curious.

Hello,
Try running the sfc /scannow command in an elevated command prompt to repair damaged system files, and try to open PC settings again to see if it solved.

Hi guys, Bluetooth disappeared after win 10 install and still missing even I replaced back to my win7 hdd that I use for six years. I have a bad feeling win 10 changed something in the firmware permanently but I don't have any proof atm. I tried BIOS CMOS settings reset and it did not help. Can you please help me? Thank you.

I have an HP Elitebook 840 G2 that Windows 10 had loaded a Generic Bluetooth Driver for.   The performance was a little spotty, flaky keyboard respnse,  so went to HP's site and found an Intel  WIndows 10 Bluetooth Driver.  Before I could download the driver, it disappeared from the available downloads.   I notice it has also disappeared from the Elitebook 740 G2 Windows 10 downloads as well.  The driver was version 18.1.1539.2349 Rev.K dated 12/08/15. This was the link:  http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?sp4ts.oid=7343205&swItemId=ob_166429_1&swEnvOid=419...  I really want to find this driver because generally loading the specific OEM Driver will correct these types of Bluetooth performance issues described above.   Is HP updating the WIndows 10 Bluetooth Drivers on the Support site, were there issues with the driver, can I download the driver directly from Intel?  I did find the link below on Intel's site, driver version 18.16.1 but not sure if it would be the same driver available for the Elitebook 840 G2.     This is the Intel link:https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/25838/Intel-PROSet-Wireless-Software-for-Bluetooth-technol... Please advise.  Thank You.Regards
