Unable to load drivers for Multi Media Audio Controller

Q: Unable to load drivers for Multi Media Audio Controller

Hi. Following a previous thread (resolved). Device Manager now shows a need for a driver for the multi media audio controller and another pci device. The properties tab elicits 'there are no drivers loaded'. The usual windows software update procedure is unable to find the software either in the pc or via the 'net. (The speakers and headphone are working: does that indicate that the mmac is not being used in the current sound system?) J

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Need a driver for my sound :

Motherboard: Intel Micro ATX / D845 EPI / D845 GVSR
Multi-Media Controller: Intel 82801 DB ICH 4, AC 97 Integrated audio, Ver. 5.121.25, Realtek *ALC 202A, Analog codec

Been trying to find a driver to download but just cannot connect. Tried Intel support....but I'm missing something somewhere. I downloaded a "XP Codec Pack" and installed it and everything went well but I still see the yellow " ! " in device manager. After I installed the xp pack, the "Multi-media Controller" moved down to "Sound, Video and game controller" menu from under the menu "Other devices"

Second question: What is "SM Bus Controller". It has a yellow " ! " also. I want to take out all the yellow notices from my device manager. I want to install the driver for this also

Help and direction from y'all would really be appreciated. I would also add, everyone is so helpful and I learn alot from everyone.

Hi, my PC has suddenly decided to find new hardware from out of the blue. It is telling me it's found a Multi-Media Audio Controller and I don't know what to do about this.

I have an Audigy Soundblaster 2zs soundcard and I uninstalled/re-installed the software to try to solve this dillema.

It didn't.

There has also been numerous Blue screens.

I discovered that this blue screen shutdown only happened in my account so I removed my account and created a new one which doesn't crash.

I had all sorts of trouble uninstalling the creative software and it took ages to do, finally I rebooted in safemode and did it via the hidden admin account.

I also can't reboot in safe mode the F8 way, had to do it via msconfig>boot option.

The Welcome to the Found New Hardware Wizard keeps opening whenever someone logs into their account and I'm stumped.

I looked in the device manager and there is a yellow question mark and I don't know why all of a sudden this has happened...I haven't installed any hardware at all lately???

Please can someone help me here?

Thanks in advance...

I received this muli-media cd and I am unable to view the mulit-media files on the cd. This is a original (not a copied cd) multimedia cd. I did some re-search and found this about the cd.
The big problem is that this CD-ROM was released in 1996, and due to some idiocy (Microsoft suddenly changed all their Windows95 multimedia drivers the day this CD came out) it takes a skilled user or a few tricks to access this CD-ROM part at all. If you're tryin to do so, I recommend to use the software "ISO-Buster" that is able to 1) access the CD-ROM content, copy the files to your computers HD and there you go. Difficult, but worth the try
I am not able to see the muli-media files when I open the cd in disc drive and look at the folder. I tried and sucessfully download this ISO Buster software. Using this software I am able to see the files. However the software will not copy the files to the hardrive.
Does anyone have suggestions of software that will do this for me.

I can't get my sound to work, and all I hear is an annoying beep everytime my computer does something it thinks is significant (getting messages, alerts, pressing the X key when nothing on my desktop starts with a X)

the sound chip I have is called "AC'97 Audio Controller" or something similar to that.

I won't go into detail about why I reformatted my hard drive because it doesn't really matter. I have reformatted my hard drive several times, and this problem about my sound drivers always arises and somehow each time Windows' "Add New Hardware Wizard" works and I never remember how I fix it, but it won't work this time. I've installed what I THINK are the drivers, but they didn't work.

A:AC'97 Audio Controller sound drivers!

You may find a Realtek AC97 driver on your motherboard CD. Failing that, if you go to Windows Update it will probably offer you one as an optional hardware update. Personally, I don't use any hardware update offered by Windows and you'll get the real McCoy if, instead, you can go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download it from there.
The motherboard CD usually warns that Direct X should be installed before the sound drivers are.

A:Multimedia audio controller Drivers

Somehow I have a feeling that based on the age of that card and that the last driver update that it received was almost 10 years ago (with the card coming out it 1998), I think it is safe to say that you aren't going to have much luck finding anything. In fact that card despite its name isn't even a Sound Blaster but a renamed Ensoniq (from back when Creative bought them out),

Sound Blaster - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The card may still work on a supported operating system, but I have a feeling that most onboard sound from the last few years will have more features and sound better than it does.

Quick summary: SATA Controllers on motherboard are not working. Ordered and installed a PCI-E SATA Controller Card. Connected Hard Drive & DVD Drive to new card ports. Upon attempting to boot installed windows 7, it spontaneously restarts before loading. It seems that I need to get the Controller Card's drivers installed. i try startup repair mode, and I can load the driver and see the Windows 7 installation after that, but then I don't know how to permanantly add the drivers for this installation.

Any help? Or do I need to reformat and re-install? Thanks

A:New SATA Controller Card, Windows wont boot, how to load drivers?

Win7 should not need SATA drivers as it has most of them. There is likely another issue.

Is HD set to boot after DVD drive in BIOS?

Is Startup Repair autostarting from the HD, or are you booting DVD to access Repair console on second screen? If not, try that to run Startup Repair a few times, making sure Win7 or its 100mb boot partition (preferred) are marked Active: Partition - Mark as Active (Method Two) .

If it's autostarting from HD then the change in SATA controller may be too much for your extant Win7 to start. This requires running Paragon Adaptive Restore CD on the installation from boot, or clean Reinstalling Windows 7.

I formatted my computer, which has an Asus motherboard, the P5S - SE, and i installed Windows 7 32.
I have managed to install all the drivers except the Multimedia Audio Controller drivers.
I searched the official site of Asus but it does not give any Win7 drivers. I tried the ones for Vista but they did not work.
I tried some other suggestions from sites, but nothing.
I installed a program which can find and fix such issues but they request money. Even if i pay the money, which is a considerable amount, how can i be sure it will work?
Can anyone help me? Thanks
George S.

A:ASUS P5S - MX SE Multimedia Audio Controller drivers

If the ASUS is in a Lenovo PC, you need to be looking at Lenovo, first, for drivers. In most cases (all that I've seen) the Vista drivers work in Windows 7. There are several versions of the P5S-SE, the exact motherboard model is needed, if the Lenovo drivers do not work.

What audio device do you have? e.g. Sigmatel/IDT? RealTek?, etc.

The pay sites should be avoided. Many times they will list updates that do not exist or want to sell you an incompatible driver.

I recently had to replace my motherboard and after doing so, I now have the following problems that I can't figure out how to fix. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on what to try next:

1. The front speaker ports on my computer no longer are working. I've checked the connection on the motherboard to ensure I have it connected properly. When looking at the pins I see only one way it could be plugged in so I don't think I have it backwards or anything like that. However, when I plug speakers into that audio port, nothing comes out. On my old motherboard, when I plugged them in, the audio automatically switched channels but it doesn't do that now. I've swapped speakers with known good ones and tried a headset as well. Not sure it helps but audio ports on the back of the computer seem to work fine.

2. While digging into the audio issue, I noticed that Device Manager doesn't have drivers for SM Bus Controller. Would that be causing the audio issue? Regardless, I can't seem to find drivers for this. I have the setup CD that came with the motherboard. I don't see any specific options to install this driver when I run that. I've had Device Manager try to find the drivers off that CD and it doesn't find any. I've also tried searching my Win7 OS CD and same issue. Any advice on how to get these drivers?

A:SM Bus Controller Drivers needed and audio issue

Hi and welcome,

Install the chipset drivers for your motherboard to get the SM Bis controller drivers.

What case do you have? Some older cases may not be compatible with all audio connections.

What motherboard did you have previously?

It is not always necessary to update the driver as long as your system is working properly.

You should only download your drivers from the Dell Drives site for your model. The Realtek driver is not the Audio driver for your model #computer.
Go to the Device Manager, any devices with yellow flags need to have drivers installed.
Go to the Dell site and type in your Service Tag# or find your make and model# or use this link: Support for OptiPlex GX520 | Dell US Download the Chipset driver and install this first. I recently pulled my wireless adapter card out of my notebook before stopping the service. Ever since then I have lost my sound on the laptop. I have 2 devices that I can't seem to find drivers for on this old laptop. It is a Dell Laptop (Inspiron 7000) C336LT. The sound card is integrated on the motherboard. I went to dell and reinstalled the bios and the only other drivers they have listed is a network adapter driver. When I look at the system informations to try and find who makes the motherboard it says not available. Imagine that . My question is this. Is there anywhere that I can find drivers for this integrated sound card or do I need to find the drivers for the motherboard? I believe the sound card is a ESS Maestro2. I have searched everywhere I know and then some to find drivers. the only drivers I have found so far have been for a PCI ESS Maestro2 card. A:Multimedia Audio Controller unable to find driver updates

Follow the below mentioned steps in order which could fix the issue:

Click "Start". Right-click the "My Computer? icon. Choose "Properties," "Hardware" and "Device Manager."

Click "Sound, video and game controllers". Right-click the multimedia audio controller and choose "Update Driver". Click "Next". Allow Windows to search its driver database for updated drivers.

Go to the sound card, motherboard or computer manufacturer website. Go to the download section and check for updated sound card drivers. Download the drivers to your computer if you find an update.

Double-click the downloaded file. Follow the on-screen instructions to go through the driver installation. Generally you choose an installation location, agree to the license agreement and click "Next" until the installation is complete. Restart your computer.

Interesting nugget of information I recieved today: The Win2K driver model is based on Win98, and NOT NT4. So, if there are no Win2K drivers, try the Win98 drivers. They have a better chance of working then the NT4 drivers.

I have been trying for several days to install a webcam and a wireless dongle on my Windows 8 PC. I know I have the software and drivers for both - I have the disks and/or updates from Manufacturers sites. When I install I get the message that Windows is unable to find the drivers. When I "point" windows in the right direction I generally get the message "The configuration registry database is corrupt". At the beginning of my attempts to load the hardware I did get a message that windows could not load the drivers because windows update was set not to install driver updates. I haven't seen this message since. I have googled and read lots of advice but so far nothing that helps.
I would be grateful for any help.

A:Unable to load drivers for new hardware

In many cases drivers wont load because windows was not ready for them, do the windows updates first and either windows will load the drivers automatically or will lay the foundation for your drivers via chipset updates or other means..

I just put together a new computer using an ASUS B150M-A D3 motherboard. After getting everything connected, and loading the Windows 7 OS (the original version of Windows 7, not the SP1 version) I proceeded to insert the DVD that came with the motherboard to load all of the drivers. When the installation procedure was complete, I found that all of the drivers had loaded except the Realtek HD Audio driver. I tried to install it again a couple of more times, but each time the install got to 99% and then quit with the message that the installation had failed.
I went out to the ASUS web site and found that they had two drivers for this device, one a little older than the other, so I downloaded both of them and installed the newest one. I got a message that the installation had completed successfully.
I rebooted and then checked the speaker icon in the System Tray and it had a red "X" through it. Hovering the mouse over it showed the following message: "No Audio Output Device is installed."
I went into the Device Manager to Sound, Video, and Game Controllers. Two devices were listed: High Definition Audio Device and Intel Display Audio. A quick check of the Intel device showed me that the device was working correctly.
I double clicked the High Definition Audio Device and under the General tab it showed: "No drivers are installed for this device". I clicked the Driver tab and then clicked the Update Drivers button. Windows worked on it for a few se... Read more

On one of my notebooks, I cannot load any drivers and the mouse (usb and mousepad) is not working. I also suspect the system is infected with a virus or malware due to continued attempts to update the hosts file and other requested system changes.

Compaq Presario r3000
Windows XP Home with SP3

I have tried a virus scan (Avast) and also Malwarebytes, however I cannot update the library since the mouse is not working(Page not available without a mouse). I have also tried removing the drivers, and the system does identify the hardware on boot, but will not load any drivers. I have also noticed that I cannot run regedit.

The system does also have winpatrol and I can send a hijack report if requested.

Life without a moue is hard, please help.

I'm hoping someone can help me. I have a Gateway laptop running Windows XP Pro - SP2. My laptop was infected with some sort of Adware that took control over my homepage and blasted me with spyware popups. I already had downloaded "Super AntiSpyware" to my computer so I ran it. It cleaned up the the problem files and asked to reboot the computer. I selected the option to reboot and went through the restart operation. As the computer was coming up, it went to a blue screen and restarted the reboot and paused at the recovery screen. I selected "restart in last known good configuration" and the computer came up fine with the exception being I lost my internet connection options. When I went to view my device manager files, both my Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller and my Broadcom 802.11g Network Adaptors had the caution signs over them with the error code stating "The device is not working because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. Code 31". here's what I've done to try to correct the issue;Unload the drivers and reload the hardware.Unload the drivers and reboot the system to let it find the devicesLoaded new updated drivers (via stickdrive from another computer)Used every option in the troubleshooterPerformed all of the above in both Safe and Normal ModesDo a System Restore to a date prior to the problem. - Didn't help as System Restore was disabled. Lesson learned.None of the above resolved the proble... Read more
