I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system
It's worked out well for many of us in the past.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Dear everyone, To not waste anyone's time I'll try to formulate my question as clear and direct as possible. Additional information that may be important will then be given. In short my question is the following: Is my particular system (HP Elitebook 8570w Mobile Work station, a notebook) compatible with the NVIDIA Quadro K1000M driver for Linux (x64)? The following background information may be useful to see where I'm coming from and to be able to answer my question. Background info:In the past I have installed Linux Ubuntu next to the pre-installed Windows 7 on this machine. Everything worked well except for the video card (dragging windows around the screen wasn't smooth which is very irritating). I assumed that I had to install the correct driver for the video card which is also compatible with Linux. Having done a little searching on the internet I tried both a `default' Linux driver as well as a driver form NVIDIA that was supposed to work with a Linux (x64) system. However the problem was not solved and actually became worse as time progessed. Finally I abandoned the Linux system and went back to Windows altoghether. Now I want to give it another try so I have looked up the driver that is supposed to work with my video card and a Linux (x64) system. At the tab `additional information' however it says the following: Note that the list of supported GPU products is provided to... Read moreRead other answers
Ok so i recently bought a GeForce 8800 GTS and i was wondering if anyone knew of any good drivers. I just have the feeling that my card could make my games look better than this and city of heroes says it doesn't even recognize it.

Hi guys, I have a problem with my videocard drivers or operating system. i'm not really sure.
The problem is when I'm moving a folders they have tail following them. just like with computers without any videocard drivers. but not so slow. the tail shows up and disappears faster than computers without videocard drivers but still this tail is very noticeable and annoying.
I hope you guys understood..
I installed newest driver for my videocard available on ati.amd.com support site.
also i installed newest drivers for my motherboard from asus support site.
nor of them didnt help.
I have a ASUS P5P800 motherboard and a radeon 9600 videocard.
running computer with ubuntu 9.4 doesnt have these problems.
what could be the reason for such computer behavior? please help me out..
I'd like to update the drivers of the videocard: evga engtx260. Should I get the drivers from nvidia or from evga? And if there are many versions, which one is the best?
I also noticed this update from windows updates: "nVidia - Display - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260". Is this another driver a have to install?
Always and only from nvidia site.
If you want the last best 0.4% performance out of the card, search some enthusiast forums for benchmarks comparing different driver versions, if you're happy with a well working driver, just go to http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us and choose your card, choose your OS and hit search.
My soundcard: Soundmax integrated Digital audio ver. 18.104.22.16850

Can anyone provide me a link to dl updates for these drivers?

It don't seem like this is correct keyboard drivers on my laptop. Is there something missing because the Esc, Enter, some of the F#, Fn, some of the letters and windows key just quit working one day. I've tried acer support and basically they just want money. Tried windows tips, uninstall and reboot and even did a complete reinstall of os. still dont work. On screen keyboard works fine, but annoying to use.
That looks like the correct drivers. The problem is the keyboard. Replace the keyboard. I had to do that on an Acer laptop a couple of years ago. Not too big of a job.Read other 1 answers
Hi, I have question. I have installed Windows 8.1 on second PC and it already had installed lot of drivers. But most of these drivers are from Microsoft and from year 2006 i think. For example, when I have actually installed by default "High Definition Audio" (Windows provided driver), it is Realtek High Definition audio but driver is outdated. Then I downloaded from Realtek webpage driver, and what should I do now?
1. Is better to uninstall this old driver inside device manager and then open downloaded setup.exe then reboot
2. When I just open setup.exe to install driver?
Which method is correct?
I also want to ask about one thing, when I was installing Windows. When I created new partition with full size of HDD, it has maximum size. But when I format that partition it has like 0.3gb less.
I just install the newer manufacturer supplied drivers over the existing Windows default driver. It hasn't caused me any issues that I know of. The default drivers will likely just automatically reinstall anyway after a reboot etc.
You'll lose some space to the file system when you format the drive.
I had to reinstall XP, I believe my soundcard is SigmaTel STAC9750/51 so I downloaded the right drivers but when I try to install I get a message saying "Device object not found". It's very frustrating and I really hope someone can help! Thanks.

I see some of the right drivers there but you definitely need this one for video: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48275.exe This one for wired ethernet: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp49501-50000/sp49521.exe To figure out which wifi you have we are going to need to check the device ID in device manager but the wired driver above will at least get you on the internet.Read other 2 answers

I then went to the Compaq website, found the original drivers, but when trying to install them there is a pop-up that says I need the Microsoft Bus Driver.
And even before the installation begins it says I must have the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Bus Driver before I can install the Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers. I was wondering if any of the “free PC scan” type advertisements are worth bothering with, or if they are all just scams to get you to purchase their software.
I am only really interested in the ones that claim to find hardware device drivers. I have installed a couple of these in the past without much satisfaction. The idea of this magic wand approach appeals to me though, as I have always struggled to get the drivers I need (for windows xp).
I have a Dell Latitude 1501 and have visited the Dell website where I enter my service tag and get shown a list of recommended software (http://support.dell.com/support/dow...bIndex=&scanSupported=False&scanConsent=False).
I have installed some of them, but they do not address the problems outlined in the device manager. I simply don’t know what to install for each of the problematic devices: Base System Device, Ethernet Controller, Network Controller and SM Bus Controller.
Could you suggest what I should do please?

Hello and welcome to the forum!
Is this system inside the US?
In vista i used to go into safe mode , add remove nvidia drivers and reboot into normal mode it would install the standard vga drivers. However with windows 7 when you reboot into normal mode it installs these wddm(?) drivers and reboots.
Have the old nvidia drivers been uninstalled? and can i just install any previous beta's or new betas over the top?
EDIT : Just installed over the top of the default windows 7 nvidia drivers on uninstalled reboot, seems to work fine so i'll see how it goes!.
You can have 2 option:
- Download the newest driver for your nVIDIA card, use the Un-install feature of the soft to remove the current driver then re-install.
- Use a clearly uninstall program, I suggest to use Your Uninstaller Pro 2008. You can find this software at 9down.com.
I have use these way for my nVIDIA 8600M GT and also my Ati Radeon Mobility 3670, both working well. Hope it good for you too.
I just reloaded windows 7 and checked for updates but it said the laptop is up to date but I am seeing 2 problems, the dvd video looks choppy and I can access the net with a wired connecttion and not seeing any wireless option but in the DM it shows that the Network Controller driver is not installed so I am guessing that's why I am not seeing a wireless option? I am looking here but there are too many drivers listed, can anyone tell me exactly whic drivers I should try for the video and wireless please?http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?LegacyDocID..

Hello, I've often had this problem in the past where I will format my hard-drive or custom-build a new computer, only to find out months later, that one or more of my device drivers are not up-to-date or compatible with their current driver software...
When starting from scratch, what's the best way to ensure all your device drivers are updated/compatible? Like, for example, how do you personally ensure all your device drivers are up-to-date and compatible when starting anew? Go to the manufacturer's website for every driver? Or what? Are there any software tools out there that can help in this process?
Just curious, because I've always just kind of methodically and tediously gone to every manufacturer's website but I always seem to end up down the road with driver conflict problems...
Any advice here would be useful.
The best option as you have already surmised is to go to the manufacturers websites.
Commonly there aren't a great deal of driver updates to check, but the ones that should be updated, especially if you are planning on migrating to Windows 7 are:
Motherboard manufacturer for:
Chipset driver, LAN driver, audio driver (if onboard), video driver (if onboard).
Video card driver (if discrete/seperate):
nVidia : from manufacturer preferably if GeForce 7xxx series or earlier, or direct from nVidia if unavailable, or 8xxx series or later.
ATI Radeon: Direct from ATI
Soundcard (if discrete/seperate) from manufacturer, also peripherals (printers, camera's, (some) keyboards and mice, scanners, copiers etc.)
To minimize driver conflicts I would only download one driver per component and use the correct procedure for updating drivers (i.e. close down all other applications before installing).
BEFORE updating drivers I would strongly recommend that you create a System Restore point and check for the drivers functionality, and repeat the process for each driver.
If you are unsure then please post back with your system information.
I would not recommend any all-in-one driver solutions at all.
I heard about Everest Ultimate from a friend and I love it.
It tells me everything about my computer, the name of the hardware, and much more.
After looking up my hardware, i google search the latest drivers using the information from Everest.
Is anybody familiar with this program? How accurate is the information it provides?
Is there a better way?
I've looked up drivers in the past and there were so many options to choose from sometimes, i didn't even know where to begin to look to figure it out.
Any feedback or tips would be appreciated.
I don't know, seems like most of the info is already available with device manager and system properties. However, for a similar program to Everest Ultimate, I prefer Belarc Advisor which is easier to read and free (no 30 day trial).Read other 9 answers

Just got my system ack up and running, and now i have run into a bit of an issue, preventing me from validating my windows and doing most things.
I made a total restart, and have only stock windows 7 HoPr installed. When i tried to install a missing screen driver, i noticed that i was unable to go to the internet. I apparently have missing Ethernet and network controller drivers. Obviously, one would normally hit the update driver button, but since i do not have any means of getting the computer connected to the internet. i cannot.
So put it simple: I need to know how and where to download the missing drivers. And if there are any specific procedures, i will need some kind of tutoring, as i am kinda new to most of these things.
Additional info: It is a Desktop pc. The green flashing light where the cable goes is not flashy, at all. its solid green.
Go to the Support Downloads webpage for your model to download the ethernet or LAN driver to stick or CD, install as Admin on the PC.
Then go directly to Windows Updates to do all of your Important and Optional Updates which should deliver any newer drivers.
If any drivers are missing after all Updates are done, import them also from the Support Downloads webpage for the PC or Device model.
All of this is in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.
I've aquired this older computer AMD 333mHz, 64mb RAM, 4MB Diamond Stealth II S220 video, Aurora Vision (Shinho) SM583B Monitor, d-link 10/100 nic. I cloned a hard drive I had currently (HDD was clean upon arrival). (Running win98se) I Installed a CD-ROM drive, downloaded and installed the video driver, downloaded and installed the Monitor driver. The software for the video driver is running, the display settings show that I can change the screen area all the way up to 1600x1200, and Show that I can adjust the color to 32 bit. Whenever I try and adjust these, windows tells me it will take a few seconds, the screen may flicker and then informs me that my desktop has been changed, do I want to keep the settings? The thing is, everything is still the same. I already unistalled/installed the video card, switched PCI slots, restated windows several times after changing the settings, switched between large/small fonts. What to try next? The max this display will give me is 640X480, 256 colors...
When you change the settings, before you click ok (I think) you should see a change in the little preview window'
Do you see that change?
PS you should also see a little dialog box that says do you want to save (keep?) these changes. If you don't say yes it defaults back to old settings.

HP publishes updates to Pavilion Desktop software and drivers. If no updates are available, you already have the latest software and drivers from HP on your system.
HP Pavilion systems with Windows XP do not come with recovery CDs. Use the following steps to restore a software application or driver in Windows XP:
Click Start, All Programs, HP Tools, and then Application Recovery.
In the Recovery window, select either Drivers or Applications as desired and click Next.
Select the software driver or application that is to be reinstalled and click Next.
The driver or application will automatically be installed. Some programs will take longer to install than others.
You may also obtain updated software and drivers from the manufacturer of the specific software or hardware, or by using Windows Update .
Since you have installed a new HD and, I assume an OS, you will have lost HP Tools and Application recovery. Try windows update

been removed. I have a new install of xp on it and internet explorier is has very slow
scrolling. The machine also downloadd webpages very slow. I add an internet card to
get the thing connected to DSL but it is slow. The DLS plug on the motherboard
will not work at all.
The dell site has so many drivers on it I don't know which ones to down load without
a service tag number.
I've been having a heck of a time getting the correct chipset drivers for a Gateway NE522. The machine originally came installed with Windows 8 and of course I want windows 7 on it. I cant seem to find the right chipset drivers and SM Bus drivers so that the laptop will see the touchpad. Everything else works fine but for some reason it doesn't recognize the touchpad. Help!!
Hi Looking at the Getway Website ... It seems they do not provide Chipset Drivers .. For a lot of their Models ..
It could be included in one of the Applications ..
I think the Chipset you need is the AMD A68M Fusion
I have a Dell Latitude, D630 [old now, I know but, perfect for what i'm using it for] I've exchanged the HDD for an SSD, Added extra RAM, Got hold of a Genuine Intel Extreme, X9000, Duo Core CPU, And installed Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium..
It runs like a dream, fast, furious, perfect but,
Trying to find the correct drivers is sometimes a pain in the backside and as a result my DVD writer no longer burns cd's or dvd's , although it still plays well.
Most drivers i've found pretty easy, just by serching for them individually on the Dell driver support site, but some seem to be hard to get hold of because the dell support site recognizes my Dell Latitude D630 but does not recognize the changes i've made. The OS, for example, shows up as XP and there's no option to change it to win764, the only options go up to vista64bit but no higher ??!!??
Any help and advice would be great especially since there will be drivers i don't know the name of, therefor, can't do an individual search.
Like I said most of it works well, better than well but i'm having a few teething problems.
Thank you All, hope to hear something soon, Cheers Comrades!
Dell Latitude D630 has not been tested for Windows 7 operating system. However you can use the Windows vista operating system driver and install it on compatibility mode.
Any DVD drive on the Windows has a native driver from the operating system. please follow the instructions in the link below to fix the issue with the DVD drive.
If the Fixit tool does not fix the issue then please perform the manual steps under Resolution 3: Manually fix corrupted registry entries in the link.
In addition, I would like to know the ‘Hardware ID’ any hardware with exclamation mark or unknown device.. Please follow the steps mentioned below to find the ‘Hardware ID’ in device manager.
Open Device manager.
Right click on the ‘Unknown device’ and select ‘Properties’.
Click on ‘Details’ tab.
Under ‘Property’ there should be drop down.
Please select ‘Hardware IDs’ from the drop down.
Please give us the details you find under values.
Hi, my issues are two-fold.
After asking the guys at the shop who put my computer together to partition the hard drive, they must've forgotten.
I'm a full-time student heading toward a level 6 diploma in ICT, just started learning diskpart, etc. So it's good practice for me to make right what they didn't do.
Have read many forums trying to work out what to do because I can only shrink this Western Digital (WD5000AAKS) 500GB to half it's size (when what I really want is Windows 7 on C drive at only 50GB's).
Have tried a custom install but it asks me for SATA drivers which I cannot for the life of me find to download.
Any help is very much appreciated.
P.S: The second part of the problem is RAM related, should I fix that first before doing the fresh install, or? I purchased 4GB of RAM but right clicking computer properties shows Installed memory (RAM): 2.00 GB. Right-clicking on my-PC and choosing properties does show 2 yellow warnings with exclamation marks. The first one is PCI Simple Communications Controller but clicking the update driver part comes back with "Windows was unable to install your..." Windows could not find driver software for your device. It doesn't have any driver provider details (Unkown) so not sure how to go about fixing that?
And the second exclamation mark says Unkown Device (could that be the missing RAM?)
1. What kind of motherboard do you have? You'll have to go to their site and get the SATA/RAID drivers for your board.
2. 32 or 64 bit? 32 bit will only recognize up to 3.0 or 3.5 GB of RAM.
I had been having problems with Windows XP Professional- blue screen crashes. So I decided to do a fresh install of Windows XP Pro. First I updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest, 23. Next I booted, hit F4 & entered the RAID setup. Previously I had RAID 0, but I deleted the RAID, did a low level format of both hard drives from the RAID setup, & then created a RAID 1(mirrowing). In my motherboard BIOS, the Hard disk priority is set to "on chip SATA RAID". My serial hard drives are connected to SATA 3 & 4 on the motherboard.
Next I rebooted with my WindowsXP Professional CD loaded, and came to Windows Setup, pressed F6, then "S" when prompted and loaded VIA Destination version 310E SATA drivers (which I downloaded fron VIA's web site). At the Windows Professional Setup screen, "To Set Up Windows Now, Press Enter" which I did. "Setup did not find any Hard Drives in your computer " is what I got. In the BIOS, there are no hard drives listed.
Can anyone advise so that I can load my OS & get my system running again? Did I use the correct RAID drivers? Am I correctly set in the motherboard BIOS at Hard disk priority to "on chip SATA RAID"?
On the original CD that came with the motherboard there are HPT 374 & HPT 372 drivers on the CD. Does SATA RAID ports 3 & 4 use Highpoint or the VIA SATA drivers?
Thanks so much. I am about to start kicking the dog!
