Dreaded Win10 WiFi Issue: Can't enable WiFi after Upgrade

Q: Dreaded Win10 WiFi Issue: Can't enable WiFi after Upgrade

I upgraded my friends HP laptop to Windows 10. The issue now is I can't enable Wifi. The card is recognized correctly in Device manager and no issues is found with it. It looks like it is fine. However in the Network Settings WLAN is set to "Off" and when I try to turn it on it always jumps right back to off. eg. I can't enable it.

HP is now help as they clearly state any laptop bought prior to specific date in 2013 will not get any driver updates from their side for windows 10. (Guys, never buy HP again please...). And updating through device manager only tells me it's the newest driver available.

The Wifi card i Broadcom 4313GN card. I searched for win 10 drivers but did not find anything. They only offer linux drivers on their homepage...

So can anyone either provide a solution to the issue or link to a win 1' driver for this wifi card?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I had a similar issue were I was stuck in Aeroplane mode on a cleanly installed W10. Turned out I had to uninstall it from the HID's in Device manager. It's worth checking that he's not stuck in it too. Search for drivers in Windows 7, from the HP website and you'll most likely resolve the issue.

I upgraded a few days ago on my ACER Aspire 605G from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and I lost wifi capability.  After upgrading numerous drivers, The Qualcomm Atheros Wireless LA Driver gave a message that said, "The device may not be present or could have been ejected/unplugged from the system.  Insert or reinsert now."  Is that the root of the problem. How do I fix the wifi access?  Thanks for your help.

Basicly I have tried so many possible fixes that I have given upon Windows OSes...

One day after harmless windows upgrade window popping up, asking me to download the latest and the best Win10 version ( I already had win10 at that point) everything went downhill. I didnt think that I was gonna spend extra 20 hours looking for ways on the internet on how to get back my wifi working again. What it happens is that every 10-30 minutes Wifi disconnects itself and I have to manually reconnect. A lot of times I need extra waiting time to reconnect and plenty of tries. I do not need to reboot however.
I have tried: updating/reinstalling wireless driver: no success
firewall allowing no apps/all apps: no success
unchecking power mode on/off in wireless driver settings: no success
reverting my win10 to previous version: no success
disabling all wifi sense options: no success
troubleshooting: no success
-on other devices using this wifi everything runs smoothly-

about other things i tried I have forgot but those are the main that coulda fix it

OS Version: Microsoft Windows 10 Home, 64 bit

Hi all,

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

I have an issue with the above machine that i believe is down to the OS as opposed to the actual machine itself (although i could be wrong). When ever i boot my machine it takes a good 10 minutes before it connects to my home wifi and sometimes, like this morning for instance i have to 'forget' my connection and establish a brand new one. I also have a Dell machine running Win7 and numerous tablets and they are all perfectly fine. It is ONLY with my Win10 machine that i have this problem.

What do you guys think it could be down to because i am stumped?

Thanx for taking the time to read my post.

kind regards

Richard.

In other words, I cannot connect to the wifi and the wifi switch is greyed out and slide back to "off position" when I go in wifi setting.I have tried all the options below (nothing worked). I know the problem is, I don't have the updated wifi driver for my HP machine for windows 10 OS.- I already upgraded my wifi adapter in PC setting.- I called the manufacturer "HP" tech support they asked me to contact the wifi adapter manufacturer Intel; raytheon as  an example. I have issues connecting my Laptop to the Wifi router in my house, however, there are no issues connecting to other routers? You would therefore assume that the issue lies with the router at my house. However, every other device and laptop connects to the router at my house with no issues at all. So it seems to be specific to the combination of my laptop and the router at my house. I have been having these issues ever since I downloaded Windows 10. I fixed it initially by downloading an old driver for the Wifi on my laptop. This fix lasted for about 3 months but since the latest windows update, the issue has come back. The issue is intermittent wifi where it shows I am connected to the Wifi but then the internet doesn't work. It says "DNS probe cannot be found" when running troubleshooter and then it resets the wifi on my laptop. This can temporalily fix it, sometimes for 2 seconds. Sometimes for 2 hours. But then the issue comes back. Does anyone have any clue what the issue might be or how I might fix it? Sometimes, when I run the troubleshooter, it says that I have missing protocols. But then this doesn't happen every time. I have tried a variety of fixes that I have read up on in forums but none seem to work permantly. One thing I haven't tried is a clean install of windows 10 which is something I am very reluctant to do and also, have my doubts as to whether it would actually resolve the issue.
Many thanks,
Joe

A:Wifi issue specific to my laptop and home wifi

It all depends on location, location, location. Some Gateways are just garbage. If you are not getting a strong enough signal, get an Access Point. Also you need to make sure that you are not on a congested channel, which is usually Channels 6 & 11 for 2.4 Ghz units.

I have a desktop computer but it definately has a wireless network card. i used to get windows updates for it and it just stopped working one day. when i look in the BIOS the only option related to booting a network card is B03 D00 Yukon PXE. no matter when i boot it i still dont get wireless signals. when i go into the boot menu and try to boot this device it says " PXE E61: media test failure please check cable" i have opened the tower and the card is securely in its slot. i thought i would workaround by getting a usb wifi card. I installed it and connected to the internet and it alternated between having a connection to the internet and being connected to the network but not the internet. even when it is connected to the internet i cannot reach any web pages. my dropbox desktop files update very slowly (7kb/s). when i am connected with the usb card the network stops working for everyone else in the house. they can no longer reach web pages or continue downloads. please help.

Hello,
I'm currently typing this with mobile thanks to messing up my computer so bad I can't connect to Internet without having to wait several minutes for it to work.

Problem: upgraded to win10 and since internet connection has been causing me gray hair. It keeps losing itself, suddenly disconnects, says "Internet protocol is missing". wifi has full coverage but it still is slow.

Computer: Lenovo, cpu 2,5GHz, 16 gt Ram, x64-bit, 1000gb + 16 gb flashdrive. Originally win8. Norton antivirus. Internet speed is supposedly 100 M, VDLS2

Troubleshooting done:
- on/off/on
- disconnecting wlan
- trouble shooting wlan and done the recommended fix (which I don't know what it was)
- rebooting(? As in re upgrading to win10) and lost the opportunity to downgrade back to win 8.1 ))
- upgrading all wireless ware
- tried connecting to different wifispot but it's worse
- I've disabled everything I can find in the settings that could eat the connection.
- usb wifi connector thing. No difference on Internet.

Problem keeps getting worse every day. I can't watch YouTube videos at all, all of my school projects are online and I can't access any of that. Sometimes Internet will seem to be fast but then t suddenly drops. Also everything is in my native language so I'm making translation mistakes.

I really don't know what to do anymore. My brothers are connected to the same wifi but their internet play well they can play online games. I can't open even one ph... Read more

But I?m having some major problems regarding drivers for wifi. Mainly, they won?t work at all. As you can see on their driver page, they have two drivers. I have tried them both to no avail. If I look in the network adapters screen I can only see the adapter for the ethernet connection, no wifi to be seen at all. I have also updated the bios and disabled and enabled wifi again. Reinstalled the drivers multiple times. Reset settings etc but nothing helps. I have even tried the  Lenovo automatic update software to do its thing but it says I have the latest drivers. I?m kinda running out of options here, surely it shouldn?t be this difficult to get it working. A weird thing is that when I try to install this driver I get a message "No appropiate driver to install " but when I try to install this I get "Realtek bluetooth suite cannot be run on this windows version". Hi everyone! I rely on your help guys... wifi has been working great for past years, whereas today all of a sudden sonething weird started happening with it after one of safe-mode with network boots (i was dealing with video_tdr_failure).  It can no longer connect. I did factory reset, and attempted driver reset and forgetting the wifi. Wlan report looks like a sequence of CXs. Majority of Xs are "given network is not available". Looking closer at them shows this event queue: 8000, 0 to 4 times 11000 and then 8002 followed by 10002 1010 10001 1009 My apologies, i cant provide files right  now as im posting from a mobile and have no cabel at hand. But let me if you need them anyway i'll try to fetch them. Connectivity tray icon looks like the driver gets restarted upon connection attempt (red icon appears for a moment and then goes away) Wifi detection works. PS: i tried using a cable to see if it's purely wlan issue, but i couldn't get it work too. Although here i'm unsure if i did it right, im gonna attempt it again

I found this card is not supported by Intel in Win10.
Bluetooth does not work at all and WiFi working but causes random BSoD:
DRIVER IPQL NOT LESS OF EQUAL (Netwlv64.sys)I found in net it is the fault of this card. And diffrent driver don't solve it.
So I want to buy a new one that will work in Windows 10.
But I found some info that BIOS in this laptop may block some WiFi card.
I want to ask You if anyone has similar experience and found that the some other card without problems in Windows 10?

And also thiis 7260 card has 2 antene contact and my actually 4965 has 3 antene contact - which I should plug in?

I would like to transfer files from my win10 desktop to my win10 phone via my home wifi (not wifi direct). I know I can use third party programs but does windows 10 have it built in? With all the bragging they're doing I figure it's gotta be in here somewhere lol.

A:Does win10 have built-in wifi transfer?

Laptops are typically equipped with Wifi; desktops not necessarily. It's not a question of whether Win 10 supports Wifi or not.
The WLAN driver should be installed by Win 10.

Why not connect your phone to your PC?

On the other hand, if you mean Wi-Fi Direct, whilst this is available on a Windows Phone, apparently, I don't know if it is in a PC build.

Hi Ruben_Palacios ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

First to make sure that Airplane mode (page 6) is not enabled, there is a hotkey on top of the keyboard with an icon of a plane.  Check if that would enable your wifi .

Else you can try to set the default of the BIOS ,
Access the BIOS by turning off the laptop and then use the Novo button (item2 page 9) on the left side next to power to turn it on. Novo menu would appear to offer BIOS set up , F9 to load defaults F10 to save and exit .

Load up windows and check if there is a wifi icon at the base of the screen.
Check also on device manager if there is any yellow mark or black down arrow  to indicate any need to reinstall drivers from the support website.

Update us how it goes.

Provided you have a WiFi adapter installed in your notebook, you will need to turn on WiFi in your notebook then sign on to an available wireless network.  I suggest downloading your user manual and reading up on this subject for more information. If you do not see any wireless networks, you may need to purchase a Wireless Router from your internet service provider.  If you do not have a WiFi card in your computer you will need to contact Lenovo directly to purchase a compatible card for your specific notebook.

Also - make sure you have a good anti virus software suite installed before you go online.

Good luck.

So last night I came home to find my PC was blue screening on startup. After a great deal of struggling and fighting, I decided to simply do a full system restore to Factory settings.

This worked wonderfully. Everything is installed that I need. Firefox, Avast!, my NVidia drivers. There is just one issue: I don't have any sound, and I can't seem to get it to even recognize my (should be) plug and play.

Speakers and Headphones don't work, forcing me to think it's just NOT picking up ANY audio devices. I've tried installing drivers (Realtek HD, AC97, the Service Pack 2 HD sound fix) and nothing seems to work.

None of my drivers or hardware is disabled (Except SiS 7018 which was added by accident from the Add Hardware menu).

Possibly relevant info?: COMM port 1 seems to be listed twice in Ports and it's having issues as well.

driver power state failure I am at a campground where internet is sporadic.  Everytime it drops and my laptop goes into sleep mode, it freezes.  Nothing will work.  I cannot get it to turn off.  I cannot do a soft reboot with control alt del.  The only way I can get it to work again is to unplug it from power and take out the battery for 30 seconds and then voila it starts and the internet is back.

Good morning,

Last night I had to do a clean install of Windows 10 Home because of some corrupted files. While in the process of setting up I selected to connect to the Internet with my 'Wifi' connection. Prior to reinstalling Win 10 I had always used my 'Ethernet' connection

My Ethernet is still wired but I can't figure out how to enable that and disable my 'wireless' connection?

Any easy to understand directions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and regards,
2harts4ever

I have a problem with a G550 laptop, running windows 7.No matter what I do, wifi will not work. When the manual switch is set to wifi on and i press fn+f5, nothing happens. The wifi card is recognized in windows, i have the latest drivers from lenovo support page and so on.I have tried literary everything, including windows reinstall and still nothing. When I run windows diagnostics it also says "wifi options (or something like that) are not enabled" and i tried with readycomm which says the same thing. Is this actually some kind of a hardware defect?

This is my first post here, so please excuse any mistakes I may make. My HP 2000 laptop isn't allowing me to enable my wifi. If I press F12, it enables and disables Airplane Mode instead of my wireless connection. I've had to do this before, and it was through the control panel I think? I'm using Windows 8 OS. Any help is appreciated,

Emily

I have a problem, normally I press Fn and F5 to bring up the window to enable/disable Wireless Lan and Bluetooth. But it's suddenly stopped working and I cannot switch on my Wireless Lan. This is on IdeaPad Y580 running Windows 7. 1. When I press Fn F5 no window opens. 2. When I press Fn F6 my track pad is enabled/disabled as normal, although I do not see the notification on screen. 3. When I press the Fn and volume or brightness controls, they work perfectly, but again I do not notification on screen, the bars showing level of volume or brightness. 4. Also the One Touch Recovery and One Key Theater buttons are not working. But the audio Mute button is working. 5. I have uninstalled the Lenovo Energy Management software and reinstalled it but no difference. 6. I have checked the BIOS and Wireless Lan is enabled. 7. I also saw that in Task Manager I cannot see utility.exe running. This is really causing me problems, can anyone suggest a fix? Thanks, Dave.

A:Cannot enable wifi using Fn and F5 keys - Y580

Finally fixed it... 1. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Lenovo Energy management Software - No difference. 2. I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the Wireless LAN - No difference. 3. I noticed that the OneKey Recovery button wasn't working, so I decided to uninstall and reinstall the OneKey Recovery software...it worked!  4. In Task Manager I can now see that utility.exe is running as below:  Now I have no idea why the OneKey Recovery software would affect the Lenovo Wireless Device Settings?  But I hope this might help someone else! All the best, Dave.

I got a new hp pavilion x360 laptop recently and it currently has windows 8.1. But when i turn it on, i can't connect to the wifi connection in our house. It isn't even an option. The only two choices i see are to connect and ethernet cable or set up a vpn connection. I went into the device manager to see if i could find the wifi adapter and enable it, but i dont even see it listed. The only things listed under network adapters are "bluetooth device(personal area network)", "bluetooth device(rfcomm protocol tdi) and "realtek family controller".
