BSOD and CTD, error 119 and 133 , exception c0000005

Q: BSOD and CTD, error 119 and 133 , exception c0000005

Hello all, I'm new to the forums here as I can normally troubleshoot and problems myself, but I've been having a hard time resolving this issue.

I've recently upgraded my motherboard, processor and RAM to an ASUS Z87-K, Intel i5-4670K, and Corsair XMS3 1x8GB, and ever since I have been experiencing what appear to be video card related crashes. I am using a Zotac Geforce GTX 560 AMP, and a Corsair 750w PSU and did not have issues before the upgrade. The computer will crash to desktop while playing high performance games, sometimes almost immediately, sometimes after an hour or two. This results in an event log message like this:

This is bad enough, but I have also been receiving BSOD in more sever cases. My dump files are zipped and attached here.

In my troubleshooting to date I have:
- started upgrade from clean Windows 8.1 install
- checked all my power supply settings,
- checked all internal connections
- made sure the RAM was running at the appropriate frequency and power settings
- updated my BIOS and all my drivers manually, included several clean driver installs for my graphics card
- conducted Windows Repair
- checked the temperature: CPU less than 40C, GPU a fair bit higher in mid 70's
- tested memory for damage, came back clean
- ran dskchk, came back clean
- ran dxdiag, says there are no problems

*Note: I've been using Shogun 2 to run tests, but it happens on every game I've tried (Arma 3 and Planetside 2 through Steam, and FarCry 3 through Uplay)

My next step will most likely be another complete format and reinstall, and then if it still remains I would have to assume my video card is shot, a horrible coincidence that it happened right when I upgraded everything else. But before I take these next steps I'd thought I'd try to post here, in hopes that someone could perhaps catch something I missed. Thanks in advance, any insight would be appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I have highlighted the drivers which need to be updated or removed ASAP. I suspect that the Western Digital Driver is at fault as it is the 2008 version and it has BSOD issues with Windows systems. Furthermore, please clean up the Asus Bloatware you can find in your system ASAP.

Also, one of the dump files point to WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR which means there is a possible cause of CPU Failure as the Processor 1 Bank 1 reported "DCACHEL0_WR_ERR" which means the L0 Cache is corrupt. But, before we begin the hardware diagnostics, we need to make sure that there is no Software related problem.

Furthermore, if you are having errors related to video drivers, did you try downgrading your driver a few versions? Also, does this issue happen if you take out your GPU and use your inbuilt chipset GPU?

I keep seeing this crash to desktop c0000005 code after the logo credits. After a clean install of WIN7 to resolve another problem i'm getting this error now. Lol I know for a fact it has nothing to do with my video card or drivers.

Games installed since Win7-reload that work:
METAL GEAR SOLID 2 SUBSTANCE
Minecraft
EDuke32/mapster32
Counterstrike:Source
Deadisland:Riptide

A:Non BSOD, APPCRASH:DKII.exe, Exception Code:c0000005

Does DKII.exe belong to Dungeon Keeper II? There's quite a few threads on other forums, suggesting the game isn't compatible with Windows 7.

Hello. I'm trying to set up a new vista system with SLI, dual NVidia GeForce 7900gs cards. However every time I try and run the provided installation CD for the driver, I encounter this cryptic error on installer autorun.

The autorun works on other CD's except for this one. Any way I can make this thing work? The cards work with the default Vista drivers, but I want to configure SLI and all the other goodies and I need the software I think.

A:Exception code c0000005

I'm not really sure what's up with that at all -- the exception just points to a resource conflict of some kind.

Why not go to the card vendor's site and download the latest drivers from there and run the setup off the hard drive?

Nix131,

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

1.After fiddling with some probably virus infected files, lots of programs close with the c0000005 exception error. This is most likely caused by a virus I presume, but its affecting lots of program exes. I assume it is a hacked windows dll causing a buffer overrun, but i'm still very new to assembly and dont know how this would react. I'll post some example errors below.

2.Any program that requires access to the internet is not getting through : I noticed firefox would no longer open any addresses. If I typed in an address that was valid, nothing would happen. If I typed in something invalid, firefox returned a "xxx" could not be found. Any applications wishing access to the internet are not working, I assume my outgoing or incoming UDP has been blocked as well

I appreciate any help on the above problems.

I recently built a pc for the first time and while it runs pretty well for the most part I have been having problems with random program crashes (including firefox, explorer.exe, games, etc) every once in a while. I initially thought it was probably a problem with the ram, and ran memtest for about 4 hours but it found no errors. I know that errors can still exist even if memtest doesn't find them, so I tried taking out a one gb stick (I have 2 gb installed) to see if the problems would persist. They did, so I switched to the other stick and still had problems so I ran memtest again with the one stick installed and got no errors again.

I just checked my Dr Watson log (which is now pretty huge) and found that all of the crashes have involved exception numbers 80000007 and c0000005 (almost all being c0000005). I know that that c0000005. If anyone has any idea what could be causing this error I would appreciate it.

Here is my setup:

Operating System: Windows XP Home (SP3)
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78GPM-DS2H
Onboard Video: ATI Radeon HD 3200
CPU: AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition overclocked to 3.0 GHz
Ram: 2 GB OCZ PC2-6400

Basically, I just bought a new great laptop (2.4ghz, 512mb RAM, 40mb HD, etc). I installed MS Office 2000, and recently noticed that most of the aps are coming up with errors now for no reason. I get errors like (according to DrWatson logs):

App: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\WINWORD.EXE (pid=160)
When: 12/11/2002 @ 19:46:22.091
Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

Full error report for the above is in a TXT file at:

http://www.planetubh.com/core/permtemp/worderror002.txt

An image of the error I see as it "crashes" is:

http://www.planetubh.com/core/permtemp/worderror001.jpg

I have so far received this type of error in: MS Works, MS Word, MS Publisher, Wordpad, and some MS Photo viewer.

Any help to solve the problem is GREATLY appreciated. I will note however that the following MS Office 2000 apps have yet to have problems: Frontpage 2000, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and MS Powerpoint.

Thanks in advance for you help!
Andrew

A:Exception number: c0000005 (access violation)

I am also getting the same error message in Publisher. One file is ok but the new file I worked on today is stuffed. I can not open it at all and lost all my work.

Before anyone asks, I saved regularly but can not open the files at ALL.

Please help me someone as I can't remember what I wrote in my hour of inspiration for my new company marketing plan!

Hey everybody (and TorrentG, I saw a bunch of threads like this that you replied to...).

So, as you can tell, I'm getting a SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION 0x3B c0000005 BSOD.

I have a custom build, with Win7 x64 Enterprise (from technet). Install at this point is less than a year old. I installed SP1 when it was publicly available, but I had the same BSOD before and after SP1.

The BSOD blames atikmdag.sys. I've got two video cards... primary card is GTX 470, secondary is ATI 5450. The BSOD didn't start (IIRC) until I installed the secondary card in order to support a 3rd monitor at times. The HDMI port died on the card once so it's already been exchanged a couple months ago, by MSI. So I'm hesitant to blame the card *again*, but I suppose it's a possibility.

I have tried:
- uninstalling Catalyst (CCC), figuring it was the cause.
- uninstalled Avira AV using Revo Uninstaller
- installed MSE
- updating Realtek (LAN + Sound) drivers and any other drivers that I found to be the least bit out of date, although I'm sure I missed something
- updating BIOS to latest revision

I'm wondering if this is something to do with the motherboard... I believe I ran across a couple places online where people had this problem with the exact same motherboard. At least one case wasn't solved until swapping out with a different video card. But I like having support for potentially 4 monitors... I guess long term I should get something not quite as bottom of the line as a 5450.

OK, so what di... Read more

Hi, shoitz, and welcome to the forum. I looked at your three most recent dumps and, indeed, they are all bugcheck 3B; usual causes are System service, Device driver, graphics driver, ?memory. All three sumps blame your video driver, atikmdag.sys, and indicate memory corruption.

There are other drivers than can conflict with your video subsystem. I suggest you start with those potential conflicts before we do anything with the video card and drivers. Out of date drivers can and do cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system, Some are quite obsolete. Update the following drivers. If there are no updates, uninstall the software or devices these drivers are associated with.

Hello and thanks for reading,

I have been having issues playing games with my PC. It does, however, seem to only happen with graphically intensive games. As far as my computer knowledge, I consider myself above average but definitely not an expert. I have read many threads and performed all of the suggested fixes to no avail. I finally decided to post my own thread. I have noticed that most, but not all, of my crashes have the c0000005 exception code. Sometimes I will just get CTD "(Program) has stopped working..."

I have:
Ran sfc /scannow
Ran disc scan
Ran Registry cleaner
Ran driver scanner
Updated all drivers (audio, video, Bios, etc)
Rolled back video drivers to older version
Ran Malware software
Ran Antivirus scan
Tried playing with all background programs closed
Tried playing with all services except microsoft ones turned off
Removed all browser plug-ins
Tried playing with Antivirus/firewall off

And heres the craziest thing, I got so fed up that I even completely reinstalled Windows on my HD, starting new and fresh. Installed my latest game (Guild Wars 2), was able to play a few hours but then...crash. This is starting to make me think its a Hardware issue, or Nvidia's drivers are simply no good.

On the hardware side, I have:
Visually inspected all circuits and connections
Inspected CPU pins
Ran Memtest 86+ on each stick individually, then again with all 4 sticks in overnight. There were no problems detected.

Interestingly enough, when I was doing the sti... Read more

I know this sub-forum is normally used for BSOD issues, but I'm not sure if this issue fits in the other sub-forums any better than this one.

For at least a month now, various programs have been crashing with error code c0000005, and I'm not sure how to fix the issue.

I've already run Memtest86 a few times, and I received no errors from the tests I ran.

I've uploaded the latest minidump crash from a program called MusicBee (I no longer have the other minidumps), along with the rest of the files produced from DM Log Collector Tool (HOME-Fri_07_22_2016__12235_99.zip).

I've been getting this error for a couple of months, over 20 times in all. The two common situations in which it usually happens are:
1) Browsing in Chrome, particularly when there are many windows and tabs open.
2) While computer is idle.
Except for the very first time this happened, it points to file aswSnx.sys, address FFFFF8800????AD1, where the ???? can vary

I attach the SFdebug file.

All of the crashes I saw point to Avast as the culprit. Looking at the module in particular, it's up to date, but it's still the cause nonetheless.

Personally, I wouldn't use Avast. If you have to run antivirus (I don't run any) then use something that has hundreds of millions of engineering dollars behind it. Such as McAfee or Symantec. I know these comments will likely get me a lot of heat, but they're just my opinion.

If you want to post links to some full memory dumps I'd be happy to look further to see if another driver might be stepping on top of the Avast driver. As it is right now, some action in user mode invokes a call to aswSnx.sys (likely through services.exe) which results in an unrecoverable exception.

It's this instruction here that causes the bugcheck:

aswSnx+0x2cad1:

Hi, all of your minidumps point to ntkrpamp.exe which is a Windows file. Crashes in that file are usually from faulty memory. Download Mem test from the downloads section and let it run overnight. If you find errors remove one memory module at a time and run the test again to determine which module is faulty.

I have run Partition Magic for years without any problems but had one this last weekend.

While trying to resize two partitions, this message appeared. "Exception C0000005" and I do not know what it means. It did not complete resizing of the two partitions. My computer did not crash and I have it running just fine but would still like to resize the partitions.

My Partition Magic 8 program is from Powerquest and they were always available to help and provided excellent advice even when there was no problem with their program.

Symantec (new owners of Powerquest products) is a different story. Went to their web site and got no advice, no suggestions on where to look, etc. This is one of the reasons why I no longer am willing to use any Symantec program.

A Google search did not give any help either.

Any one ever have this problem who was able to find out what it means and how to cure it?

Thanks

A:Partition Magic "exception C0000005"

Do the partitions look healthy and normal now? Does PM see any problems with them?

You should always run a chkdsk from the Recovery Console (or any other way) and be sure that there are no errors on the drive before trying to partition. Try creating the PM rescue disks and booting with those. Look through the menus and get partition information. Often in this process minor errors in partition sizes, start/stop positions of the partitions, etc. are repaired by PM. Minor errors of this sort are insignificant to Windows' accessing the partitions normally, but can cause partitioning problems.

You might also download the trial of Partition Table Doctor to see if it detects any errors.

The specific error you are getting seems to be a general protection fault (though I had little luck finding anything about it, either). After thorough checking that your partitions are error-free, try partitioning again, only this time when the machine reboots, tap F8 until you get boot options and choose Safe Mode. The xmnt... program from PQ set to run as a boot-executable will still run.

The error may be caused by a firewall or AV driver that loads early in the boot sequence. See what you are able to accomplish with the "Rescue Disks".

I have already ran Windows Memory Diagnostics and no issues have been detected.

I have ran CHKDSK and no hard disk issues have been found.

The BIOS configuration is default and no overclocking or changes in configuration are made.

I have used the BlueScreenView software as well to analyze the reasons and the output along with the Dump File & System Configuration (SYSDATA) can be accessed at:

I have looked up various forums for HAL.DLL related issues, I have updated all drivers, Windows 7 is upto date.

My HAL.DLL was last updated on 11/20/2010 - 10:24 PM with file version : 6.1.7601.17514

Please advise what could be an issue here?

Hi

1st post, this is a problem that is driving me nuts.

I get Memory Exception blue screen cashes and other assorted error messages regularly, i.e every session. Stating there is a 'memory exception' or similar.

I have a faint blurry band across VDU from time to time but not constant, which has led me to believe this problem could be graphics card driver related but having installed latest this doesn't appear to be the culprit.

Seems to occur when computer is playing music/video or has a sudden demand to do something graphically i.e when chrome has many tabs open and I flick. It should be noted that I have a hdmi from my graphics to my TV set up, not sure if this is causing something to crash?

I was wondering whether my CiT 650 watt PSU was to blame, considering replacing this for a Corsair 750.

Besides the crashes, performance is sluggish for the spec.

Any advice much appreciated.

Hi,
Your dump have error code :
0x3b = indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.
0x7E = usually cause by drivers.

Start with removing avast and replace it with MSE , because I see avast driver involved in the crash.

I have been having some issues with my computer for a while now and finally decided I would ask around for help.
I did a clean install of my windows 7 believing that would help, but it didn't unfortunately.

Some games that it has happened with:
Dying Light
Evolve
Red Faction

I can play other games just fine, Middle Earth Shadow of Mordor, Starcraft 2, 7 Days to die and many others so I'm not sure what it could be. The BSOD doesn't ALWAYS happen, Dying Light I'm actually not sure it is a BSOD. My screen freezes up completely, there are little rectangles all over the screen, and I can hear the game playing in the background but I can't do anything. The audio just continues. Example being if a zombie is breathing heavily, you will hear it like as if you are still there but nothing else changes.

It has also happened when updated my drivers AND when I did a "sfc.exe /scannow". I downloaded the AMD Catalyst and when it got to my display drivers, it started flickering like normal then went to BSOD. I've had my PC since last July/August and these issues only started happening about 2 months ago. I've been starting to think it could possibly be a hardware related issue at this point.
The only modification I have made in the last 2 months was changing my CPU vent/fan. I changed the stock one that came with my processor and got a bigger one (my computer would get pretty warm).

I would upload information on the BSOD, but I don't have anything about them sorry.

A:BSOD when gaming Service exception error

Please do the following:

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Driver Verifier will cause your computer to run very sluggishly - this is normal. What it is trying to do is force your system to BSOD and isolate the offending driver/s. When it does, reboot, disable driver verifier, reboot as normal and upload the new dmp file/s here.

I recommend creating a system restore point before turning on driver verifier:
System Restore Point - Create

If your system fails to boot to desktop once driver verifier is enabled, turn it off by booting into Safe Mode:
Safe Mode

This morning the machine freezes and I've also had a BSOD with 'Machine check exception' error.

It seems that both times I've managed to stall the inevitable freeze by removing the power supply and the battery for a few minutes between restarts.

For a long time now i have been getting BSOD's, pretty much all of the time from System Service Exception and KMode Exception Not Handled. Sometimes the PC never gets to the BSOD and just freezes up and restarts. This happens at any time whether im doing nothing or on the internet, sometimes it happens before the PC can load up fully. Most of the time though it happens when i am gaming. I rebuilt most of my PC but this still carried on. The parts that i have replaces are the PSU, RAM, Graphics Card and the case as well as adding in 2 extra fans. The temperature stays withing good values. The PC also often gets stuck on the post boot screen where it says "SMART Check Capable and OK" and it will take a few minutes for it to get past this stage and carry on loading, but this doesnt happen not all the time. I have tried diagnosing this myself but i have hit a wall. I ran Seatools and the HDD failed all of the tests, however after checking the fail code this was simply because it couldnt find the serial number. The HDD then passed tests from both CrystalDiskInfo and DiskCheckup. I thought that it was either the HDD or the MB as they are the only components not to be replaced. Since HDD seems to have passed its SMART tests i am inclined to believe it is the MB. PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Guys,

I'm a composer working on a deadline and have started to experience quite intermittent BSOD's.
It appears to happen at higher system loads.
I'm reasonably experienced in building custom machines (this is my third on), and so far have never experienced issues with them.
This current one is a racked i7 3930K Hexacore on a Sabertooth x79, with 32gb of Ramm and a GTX470.
I'm using Nuendo 6 in 64 bit mode (Cubase's bigger brother) with an RME Fireface 800.
The fireface runs via firewire and has its own pcie card for this.
In addition there is an external G-tech drive connected via Esata.

In the last week I've been having 1-3 bsod's a day..a real productivity killer and I hope someone can help me out. I've used Whocrashed to at least get an indication of what it might be, but I don't have much experience with minidumps.

The only thing that I have noticed is that Windows is attempting a surface scan during startup, which fails due to a 'recently installed software package' I have no idea what that might be.
I've not been able to do a diskchk on C:
Regardless, C: seems to work fine and I've not noticed any issues.

Drivers are pretty much up to date.

I'm attaching a dump, would someone mind having a look and giving me a clue? Thanks in advance!

Joe

Hi

I keep getting this error every time I try to log in to my laptop. Currently I'm running it in safe mode with networking. The issue started a day after I got a windows update and after chatting with 5 Microsoft customer service representatives they told me to give my laptop for repair to manufacturer.

I really want to solve this issue and I've tried almost everything like sfc /scannow, chkdsk /r /f, DISM, system restore point, refresh PC, factory reset, updating graphic drivers (which just sends me to that screen instantly), disabling all non-Microsoft services using msconfig and start up programs in task manager. Still can't fix the issue. I tried Media creation tool to get a windows 10 bootable usb and tried downloading iso file to burn on a cd but even that shows error code 0x8007043C - 0x90016(which I think is because I'm in safe mode but I don't have access to another computer to make a bootable usb).

Open an admin command promptCopy/paste "sfc/scannow" (without quotes) and press enterWhen it finished reboot your systemOpen again an admin command promptEnter sfc/scannow again
If sfc/scannow says "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them" after the second SFC, please upload the cbs.log file located at {windows partition}\Windows\Logs\CBS\, if the file is too large try a 3rd party uploader like dropbox, onedrive, google drive, mediafire etc.
System File Check(SFC a.k.a. Windows Resource Protection) needs to have your system rebooted in order for sfc to try to fix the problems that it finds.

Please try following command in admin command prompt

Code:
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
If there are problems with RestoreHealth, please follow step 6 or 7 (depending on the file you have from the download) from the tutorial DISM - Repair Windows 10 Image - Tutorial

Hi,
I'm attempting to fix my father's computer but am in (slightly) over my head. I just restored it to the factory state, thinking that it was some sort of software conflict, but no dice. Any ideas?

A:Seemingly Random BSOD (System Exception Error)

There are several things that need fixing. All of them can be done be you. All of these crashes were related to a 3 year old video driver named igdkmd64.sys. Go to Intel and download the newest version available. Install it using this method.
When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver.

In order to do that we recommend using
Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

Please remove the software Related to dtsoftbus01.sys Virtual Bus Driver from DT Soft Ltd

Dont bother updating the McAfee it is problematic. Follow JMH's suggestions to switch to MSE.

Other old drivers

Code:
WDMirror.sys 6/17/2008 2:37:30 AM
Mpfp.sys 4/9/2009 2:22:13 PM

CHDRT64.sys 6/15/2009 1:47:22 PM

How To Find Drivers:

Quote:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).

I am running a program on two seprate datasets which calls a script in a .exe format. The crash only happens when I try to run on the larger of the two. I have read through many of the c0000005 posts and have run the memory checker (no problems) scannow (no problems) and restored to a point when I thought it last worked. Is this just an out of memory crash? The smaller of the datasets runs just fine. I have not had this error in any other capacity on this machine.

Thank you

On system running XP problem with various applications not starting up (AOL, roadmap software etc.) with display of above error. Have not installed new software. Error occurs as soon as system attempts to start the program. Also it is not possible to uninstall or reinstall AOL (for instance).
Going back to system status as of a week previous allowed at least reloading of AOL. But then then the same problem recurred.

Any ideas for the not very computer literate?
Is it worth trying out one of these services, which purport to find dll errors and fix them?

Any help appreciated.

Hello forum,
So I just updated my Nvidea graphics card, and for some reason after restarting my laptop, in order to install these files to the system, the "System Thread Exception Not Handled" Blue screen error flashed on my screen, and later redirected me to an automatic repair screen, which attempted to fix this issue.
I ended up restarting the laptop on safe mode, uninstall my Nvidea graphics card and completely reinstall it from scratch.
But for some reason it keeps giving me the same error each time I restart my laptop.
After some research online, apparently there's an issue with Avast and Nvidea?
You will find attached the SF Diagnostic Tool grab all option files needed to view the issue at hand.
Any help would greatly be helpful.
Many are saying that I've not been installing the corrent drivers, but that's not possible, as it's directly from the MSI website (GT70 0NE) linked to the official Nvidea website, saying that the driver includes my graphics card (680M).
While other people are saying that maybe Avast is causing some issue towards the graphics card?
I have the Avast 2014 Professional Antivirus.
Laptop Specs:
Windows 8.1
MSI Dragon Edition 2, GT70 0NE, Intel Core i7-3630QM CPU @ 2.40 GHz 64 bit
NVIDIA GeForce GTX680M
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Any help would greatly be appreciated, I'm currently running my laptop without the nVidea Graphics Card Drivers, and seems to be fine so far.
Regards,
Ic3d

Hi,

my girlfriend's got a problem with having WiFi connection in Win10. WiFi option has completely disapperead in Settings. No sign of detected wireless network adapter in Device Manager at all. Sometimes it drops BSOD described in title (apparently independently of running applications). She has an HP J7T91EA notebook.
What I've already tried:
checking RAM - no error
checking HDD - no bad sectors
installing latest drivers
overwriting rtbth.sys file
removed latest Windows update from last week - nothing's changed
restore from a system restore point - no result

Any ideas? May it be software or motherboard problem?
Thanky you for all the answers.

Best wishes,
Chris

Hi Double0Seven,

Welcome to the 10forums.

You have ran the built-in feature, MemTest86 or MemTest86+? How many passes if MemTest86(+)?
It is recommended to do MemTest86+

Diagnostic Test

 RAM TEST

Run MemTest86+ to analyse your RAM. MemTest86+ - Test RAM - Windows 10 Forums

   Note

MemTest86+ needs to be run for at least 8 passes for conclusive results. Set it running before you go to bed and leave it overnight. We're looking for zero errors here. Even a single error will indicate RAM failure.

Diagnostic Test

 DRIVER VERIFIER

   Warning
Please make a backup of your important files and get your rescue media or create one.
Please create a restore point.
Please follow this tutorial to run driver verifier.

Some windows drivers are blamed in a few crashes, but that usually means that a 3rd party driver is actually the cause.
Driver verifier stresses your drivers and will crash your pc if any driver fails due to a violation.

Driver verifier should be performed for a max of 48 hours, or when you have a bluescreen, whatever comes first.

If driver verifier has found a violation and you can't get back into windows normally, try to boot into safe mode and reset in safe mode driver verifier, or in the troubleshooting options open command prompt and type verifier /reset.

   Note
Your system will act very sluggishly while driver verifier is enabled, this is normal as your drivers will be bein... Read more

A:BSOD error messages : system service exception and irql less not equal

Memory corruption probably caused by a driver.
Please run these two tests

1-Memtest.

Download a copy of Memtest86 and burn the ISO to a CD using Iso Recorder or another ISO burning program.

Boot from the CD, and leave it running for at least 5 or 6 passes.

Just remember, any time Memtest reports errors, it can be either bad RAM or a bad motherboard slot.

Test the sticks individually, and if you find a good one, test it in all slots.

I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"

Hello, I have tried to troubleshoot this machine via remote from my XP system.
The affected system's specs are:

AsRock N68-S3 UCC Mainboard Athlon II X2 250 / 3GHz CPU
2 GB DDR3-1333 Team Value CL 9 RAM

The box was built by a small retail store, OEM Windows Home Premium SP1 POLISH installed by myself.

The system is two weeks old. BSODs have been have been appearing from the outset, 1-2 times a day, with no apparent trigger. I ran the debugger and it reports this:

BugCheck 1000008E, {c0000005, 82d0ebcb, 97653b66, 0}
Probably caused by : ntkrpamp.exe ( nt!SMKM_STORE::SmStWorkItemQueue+de )

I don't really know what to make of it. I'm including the files as per the instructions. Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS. Apologies for the system health report being in Polish, I included it anyway. I am alsoadding the Debug report I made myself.

Hi skbryan.

Configure minidump recording. Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.
