Event ID: 10009 DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <computer name>

Q: Event ID: 10009 DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <computer name>

I have someone who is experiencing random connection problems on the clients such as slow or no connections to mapped network shares. Event id 10009 keeps being recorded in the domain controller logs.

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer MARK-PC.pmc.local using any of the configured protocols.

It has a range of different computer names within the same events. As far as DCOM is configured it's only setup to use TCP-IP.

Server - Windows Server 2008 Standard FE
System type: 64-bit Operating System

24 XP Pro
2 Vista Pro
2 Vista Home (should they be using home in an environment like this?)

I have attached the last 256 logs from Application & System as of yesterday evening at around 5pm'ish. I've checked again this morning and looks like the same error has already been re-occurring.

Can anyone give me any suggestion as to where to go with this?

Preferred Solution: Event ID: 10009 DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <computer name>

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Extra Info

Sorry I forgot to also mention that the server is acting as a DHCP server and that there router has had DHCP disabled. Client PC'S are set to local static IP'S and are not actually set to obtain if this has any variance.

Thanks, David

Good Morning,

I'm receiving a System log occurrence every thirty seconds.

Event ID - 1009 (Distributed COM)

DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer <Machine Name> using any of the configured protocols.

I'm currently unable to locate what the source of this call is.

- I have to stop the source of the call on the client.
- I cannot enable remote access.
- I cannot disable DCOM events in the log.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

A:DCOM - Unable to Communicate

Try the suggestions here: http://www.eventid.net/display.asp?e...e=dcom&phase=1

Otherwise, try using Process Monitor (free here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/s.../bb896645.aspx ) and have it make a log file around the time that the DCOM error occurs.

FWIW - these logs are HUGE, so it's best if you can figure out how to generate the error. Also, the last time I used it it filled my hard drive with the log file - and I had to use a PE mode disk to delete enough to get back into Windows. BE CAREFUL!!! and backup your stuff (both data and registry) before proceeding.

1. When double clicking on the 'my computer' icon, the window pops up, but then the window goes blank and the flashlight starts going back and forth. After around 45 seconds or so, everything comes up and works fine. If I double click on c: drive it comes right up. I don't have any more problems with going through different files or folders unless I close the window. If I double click on 'my computer' again, it does the same thing. It also creates a DCOM 10010 error in the event viewer.

2. If I go to the start menu and click on search, the start menu disappears, but nothing else happens. I don't know if it is related, but if I am saving a file, it doesn't auto fill/complete the file name if it already exists in the folder. It used to do this and would be helpful to have back.

3. I have 2 printers attached to my computer. One is a color laser and works fine. The other is an all-in-one printer/scanner/fax, but I only use it for scanning. When I click on scanners & cameras, it also takes about 45 seconds before it comes up with the window, which does have any devices listed in it. I believe it creates a DCOM 10010 error in the event viewer. Again, it used to scan just fine. We currently have it plugged into a different computer and it works on that computer just fine.

I know some places say to disable Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service to fix the 'my computer' problem. It didn't seem to change anything when I tried disabling ... Read more

Every time I restart it is extremely slow and I believe caused by the following 2 errors that appear in the System Event Log as event ID 10000:

I believe they are Intel drivers but have failed to find a remedy to this problem.
Other than a real slow startup there appears to be no other problem.
Am I the only one with this problem and anybody know the cure?

A:Satellite P200HD-1DV: Event error on startup -Unable to start a DCOM Server

So, you figured out where the problem is but why didn?t you installed another intel graphics drivers? I mean, you know where the problem is and you can resolve it.

Otherwise, if a reinstall does not help it would be better to completely recover your system to eliminate the problem.

I have a computer with windows 7. Last week, i bought a a4tech n-500f mouse and plugged into my computer. On the first day, it was working fine. But 1 day later, when i was using the computer with no special activity (just browsing the web), the pointer
won't move anymore. I plugged in an old mouse (the one that i was using before get the new mouse), and it was working fine. I went to the device manager, it says there is only one mouse plugged into my computer. I left the new mouse there, after about half
of a day, restarted my computer and when the login screen showing up, the new mouse was working again, but only for a few minutes. This problem appears everyday. I went to event viewer to check what is happening, it shows these event ID 20001 and 20003:

According to the Event log, it indicates that the driver installation and accompanied service installation is successful.
So I assume that this issue may be caused by the communication between mouse and computer. the communication is unstable or the mouse is broken.
Please contact the manufacturer for assistance.
Also, you may plug the mouse in another computer or test it in Safe Mode. Please remember to click ?Mark as Answer? on the post that helps you, and to click ?Unmark as Answer? if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I saw another user had this same issue and have learned from that I need to analyze the Event Viewer and then look at the .dmp files to acertain the posible cause of this XP server rebooting a few times a day without warning.

I have attached the .dmp file here (I cannot get windows to read it).

Can anyone analyze it to see what may be the cause?

Thanks so much!

My computer has started restarting itself several times a day... I looked in the event log and see a bunch of these errors (listed below)

Can anyone tell me how to look in the memory.dmp file? I cannot seem to get it to upload on this site, it keeps erroring out. (Perhaps a work firewall) ... I can attach it later if that would help ... can anyone help me figure out what is causing this? This computer was previously working fine. I *think* this loosely correlates with when I updated to Microsoft Office 2010, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

The problem I'm trying to solve it that it won't connect to a moniter. The computer starts up, all the fans (heatsink, video card, case) and led lights come on, yet it won't communicate with a moniter. I have tried using two different moniters and two different vga cables, plus a dvi to vga converter, and nothing works. I've also tried unplugging every cable and plugging them back in, and putting the ram cards in every possible combination (including using only one) and swithing slots to put the videocard in. Nothing seems to work. If anyone can help me with getting the computer to communicate with a moniter, that would be awesome.

A:Computer won't communicate with monitor

You have a component failure somewhere, as you already know... My guess is that the motherboard is bad... and you should get it back to NewEgg asap... it is either the motherboard or the video graphics card... I assume both are new.
We are assuming that the selected monitors work on other computers. Right. Tested? Right?
It is not uncommon to have a new motherboard arrive dead. Just look at the reviews on NewEgg... and if it is not the motherboard, then there is a high failure rate on video graphics cards as well.... Do you have a friend with whom you can test the video card in another machine.

The fact that it is dead leads me to suspect the motherboard...

You have enough experience to do this build... give yourself some credit.

I'm trying to install my printer (Lexmark Z603 Inkjet, which is plug and play) on my computer. Although I dont have the installation CD, I have downloaded the driver from Lexmark and it installed fine. However, whenever I try to print something, I get the message: Communication not Available. The printer cannot communicate with the computer.

I have used this printer before, but only on Windows XP on a different computer. This is the first time I'm installing a printer onto Vista (and on this computer). Also for some reason, the printer light keeps flashing, which never happened previously

Earlier, while trying to install it, I got the error message: Remote Procedure Call failed. However, I think I am past that problem now.

I would appreciate it if you could help me with this problem

After installing Win 8.1 on two different computers, both have the same printing problem.
The first problem that appears is "Bidirectional Support" must be enabled...  It was enabled in Win 8 prior to the upgrade...

It took awhile to figure out how to enable it, as after every attempt to check the box, the check would disappear after closing and reopening the window.
It turns out that this won't work with the printer connected. After disconnecting the printer the setting will stick, and when the printer is reconnected it stays that way...

Unfortunately this doesn't resolve the problem... Now I get the error that the computer "Can't Communicate With The Printer"

On one occasion, I was able to get a complete install, but only after doing a search through the Registry and Deleting everything that came up concerning the printer... This still didn't resolve the problem.

On one machine, after doing this, the Print Spooler would hang and run the CPU at 50% indefinitely. After playing around awhile, I found that if I turned off the Print Spooler in "Services" while it wa... Read more

Hi There,

I help people fix up their computers in my spare time. In the last few days, I have run across this same problem not once, but twice! And I'm somewhat baffled as to what might be causing it. I thought I'd throw it out there and see what you guys thought.

Simple standard desktop computer. Standard printer. All of a sudden when the user tries to print, they get the following message:

Here is what I have already tried:

- I checked the "Printers and Faxes" window and the printer is definitely installed and set as the default printer.

- I checked the Device Manager for any problems with the printer driver. I uninstalled the printer and then "scanned for hardware changes" and it re-appeared back in the Device Manager. I assume that means it re-installed itself. NOTE: There is a problem with a network driver, but I'm not sure that it's related to the printing problem.

- I tried to print a test page via "properties", but nothing comes out. The error message appears again.

- The printer is turned on and has sufficient ink.

- The USB cable between the pc and the printer has been unplugged, plugged back in, even replaced in one case.

- I checked the print spooler. In one case it is running, and in 1 case it is not running. In the case where it is not running, the only dependency is the RPC, which is running. I can not get the... Read more

A:COMMUNICATION NOT AVAILABLE: The Printer Can Not Communicate With The Computer. HELP!

Is it possible to test the printer in another computer to rule out the possibility that the printer is faulty ? I would also like to know what is the model of the printer /printers.

There are few things I would try to fix this problem,
on the computer where the print spooler won't start in command prompt
sfc /scannow to check that one of these files might be corrupted
also it spooler issue could be problem with registry, unfortunately I don't
know that area too well.

The problem could also be usb drivers related, (before using this I suggest making restore point just in case)

Unplug all usb devices and boot computer to safe mode.

Go to Device manager, in the view Tab Select the Show Hidden Devices Option

Uninstall Human Interface Devices\USB Human Interface Devices and\or Composite USB
Uninstall Universal Host Controllers\USB Root Hubs
Uninstall Universal Serial Bus Controllers\USB Host Controllers
Uninstall All USB devices Printers. Scanners, Etc

Reboot computer to normal windows, it will automatically reinstall the usb controllers.
Windows might ask you to restart your computer, do that if prompted.

Open Drivers Tab and remove all drivers
Install your printer software and now plug your printer.

I have an Athlon XP 1533mhz, Win XP, 256mb ram, 40 gig HD, GeForce3 Golden Sample cpu, and last night I had to do a hard shutdown. When I attempted to reboot, the monitor simply clicked off (into standby mode) while the comptuer began booting up. I figured it wasn't a big deal so turned the monitor on to find a blank monitor check screen that the monitor displays when the monitor power is on but the CPU is not. I repeatedly tryed rebooting, each time having the monitor turn off. Somtimes, the monitor would simply slip into standby as soon as I powered on the PC, and other times the cpu boot up managed to get somewhat far before the monitor shut off. I repeatedly checked the cables and GeForce to make sure everything was plugged in. I'm still at a loss to think of what the problem is. I'm not sure wehther I have a virus, a GeForce/Driver/HD malfunction, a faulty cable, or what. I wouldn't assume it's the cable since the monitor problem is very consistant. I also don't believe it's the monitor, since it appears to be working fine until it slips into standby.

I'm not sure what has caused this problem. I have heard many different things such as it could be an unsupported refresh rate causing my monitor to turn off. I recently made my Desktop resolution higher, but it seemed to run fine for the few days before I got this problem. Download http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.
Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

I was using Winamp 5.5 help (internet based) last night and kept getting interrupted by debugger. I opened administrative tools/services, and disabled MDM, and now I'm getting stacks of DCOM errors. Is it okay to just disable DCOM? It involves a registry edit and a couple of other steps, but I thought I should ask our members about it first.

Hey Guys,

So I have this silly issue going on. My computer restarts when returning from Standby. I do have my auto-reboot turned off, so if absolutely necessary, I can write down the full blue-screen error.

I have Windows XP 32bit Home
Here is my event error.

Source: DCOM
Type: Error
Event: 10016

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Launch permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
to the user NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM SID (S-1-5-18). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

I've browsed the internet for far too long too have not figured this out, so I'm coming to you for help. I have been to my Registry and Component Services because I know that is where I need to be. But I'm definitely still lost in what to do, and exactly what is causing this.

A:Event Viewer Dcom Error

Hello ozghost,If you still require assistance, please post a new HijackThis log and go here and download Silent Runners.vbs (use IE to download it) to a new folder on your drive and run it. It generates a log too. It takes a minute or two and it will notify you with a popup when your log is ready (it will be in the new folder you created). Please post the information back in this thread. If your AV queries the script, allow it to run. It's not malicious.

I've been seeing the following DCOM errors in my system log since day one:

The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application with CLSID
to the user NT AUTHORITY\LOCAL SERVICE SID (S-1-5-19) from address LocalHost (Using LRPC) running in the application container Unavailable SID (Unavailable). This security permission can be modified using the Component Services administrative tool.

The server {DDCFD26B-FEED-44CD-B71D-79487D2E5E5A} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

I looked around but couldn't find anything satisfactory. Does anyone know how this issue can be fixed?

A:dcom issues in the system event log

Have you installed any other software besides Windows? These are usually related to a poor configuration by third party app installations. If all your software is working, they may simply be things related to a specific application that you cannot solve (they need to be fixed by the application author)

Having problems last several days running backup, and all programs are taking minutes to start if at all. On the "Console Root - Event Viewer (local) - System" log for this week, I have dozens of DCOM Event 10010 error messages saying "The server {D61A27C6-8F53-11D0-BFA0-00A024151983} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout" (mentioning 5 or six different servers between the {}). Then, when I go to "Console Root - Component Services" and try to open "Computers" the "Console Root - Component Services" application shuts down.

Appreciate any thoughts on what's going on and how to fix it.

Thanks, Scott

I'm having trouble trying to figure out how to correct a persisent Event ID 10016 error that keeps showing up in Event Viewer. I've actually found a couple of guides on how to fix this...change the launch permissions for the app that's causing the problem (IPbusEnum) but wheen I try to change the launch permissions using dcomcnfg none of the options on the properties/securties tab are available (grayed out).

My user has administrator permissions, I've tried launching dcomcnfg.exe by right click/click on "run as administrator" but no go.

Can anyone give me the right magic spell to allow me to edit the launch permissions?

Hi everyone,
I recently rebuilt my computer and prior to doing this i had no issues, but now, whilst running my computer will freeze and black screen and then proceed to restart in around the space of a minute. It also sometimes boots incorrectly. I had a look through Event Viewer and one persistent error that i found was Kernel-PnP (219) saying "The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device SWD\WPDBUSENUM\_??_USBSTOR#Disk&Ven_Generic&Prod_Flash_Disk&Rev_8.07#E2CDB041&0#{53f56307-b6bf-11d0-94f2-00a0c91efb8b}" I don't know how to troubleshoot this and i have done searching online and have not found any fix for this issue. Also in event viewer are critical DCOM issues but i dont know if these are relevant to my computer crashing.

Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Matt

Hey guys, I'm new. This is really stressing me out and I have no idea what to do. I'm a noob at things like this.

Every time I turn my computer on, a little window pops up saying that's there something wrong with DCOM and it needs to restart in 60 seconds. At first, I thought it was the W32.Blaster worm but I don't think so - I've scanned my computer. (I have Avira)

About a month ago I think I got a virus. All of a sudden my Windows security center blew up and wanted me to download a malware defense program, added some icons on my desktop and turned off my symantic security and windows security. Suspecting it was a virus I ended the installing process, which started on it's own, and ran an adaware scan. Adaware removed the thing that was trying to install, the "malware defense program", and returned my computer to relative normalcy. However, recently when I have logged on to my computer it says windows defender is not working, windows explorer has stopped working and must restart constantly, and DCOM server process launcher service is terminated and my computer restarts. Right now it DCOM server process problem has stopped. I ran a Hijackthis log and a scan. Here are my results. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'd love to get my baby back to proper form.

I am trying to open a schedule through Internet Explorer and Java. I have the most recent update for Java. When I open the schedule, I continue to get this error message " unable to initiate tubesock. unable to communicate applet after 5 attempts". I have uninstalled, reinstalled Java, restarted my computer, set Java Security as I have been instructed, and I am still getting this message. That message used to display when the Java wasn't compatible but I am being told that the Java I have should work. What else can I do? What else could be wrong?
