Q: Laptop Repair (from warranty) failed but now the laptop is out of warranty.

Hello, Earlier this year I had my laptop repaired due to issues with the touchscreen and mouse. My warranty then expired in the middle of this year. Now the hinges/cover that were removed to replace the screen are failing. (I also noticed that the cover clips were significantly damaged during the repair when it popped off) Do I have any options here to get this repaired? This was something they had to touch to do the earlier repair and something I could not touch under normal circumstances. Does anyone have any experiance with this? I can't find a good way to contact the warranty department due to my warrenty being expired.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

a year ago i my warranty was almost over and i had a defect on the audiojack. as Lenovo reinstalls the factory image ( to test the audio, makes sense) , i bought  a usb audio replacement to avoid the repair, (couple of weeks ) and restoring the windows image from a backup ( 20 euro's for the audio usb versus much more time to gain repair. in the end, my hard drive also gave some issues , so the warranty was settled. i got the laptop back and an unlucky mistake during repair caused a defect laptop returned so i got the second warranty  for that mistake ( no sarcasme here, it can happen to the best.) when i got the laptop back the bios reported invalid errors , as did software which is used to test GPU's. turns out that i  got the laptop back without the AMD chipsset in it. as i have a spare laptop , i did not notice this right away and y the time that i did, the warranty was of course expired. moreover the laptop was running windows 10 insider preview and so i got the response that it was a driver mistake and i should revert to windows 8.1  and then all was fine. except for it was not. and still is not. i have tried every possible AMD solution ( DDU, manually updating , deinstalling Intel and AMD software and  reverting to 8.1 but the AMD is not in the system..) ergo: i bought the laptop as it had 2 GPU's ( not for gaming but just for a bit more power) and now i am stuck with just one GPU. i am still hoping that someone will point m... Where do I send the laptop if it is not working? My husband had the computer in Ecuador for a few months and said it had never worked properly and had been showing signs of a faulty drive. Hello. About a month ago I had my Y70-70t repaired under warranty for flickering/black screen problems. The service centre replaced the screen assembly and it was fine for a couple days the few times I used it until the same issue resurfaced. I took it back and they refused to accept it without me paying a fee for them to diagnose the problem. This was the day the original factory warranty expired, which perplexed me as the repair they made that should have fixed the same issue not even a month prior did not fix the problem. What is the warranty period on repairs? Its pretty annoying the service centre won't accept it back without a charge even tho the repairs they made failed to correct the issue.

Motherboard was overheating and replaced by onsite.It developed problems a week after installation:Black screen, frozen machine, CPU at 100% with only a few processes running. Replaced palmrest also. Within a week, the touchpad and mouse buttons regularly unresponsie. No action or click when pressed. Cannot move cursor with touchpad. Another Yoga 900 also had palmrest repaired and that repair part came DOA said on-site repair tech. Are USED or DEFECTIVE parts being used in onsite repairs? Can I check on this by using the serial number or part number?I have photos of the parts taken out and of those installed.  Also, this  repair took months to happen.  When I first called Warranty Support about my issue, they said someone would call within 3 business days. Phone call recorded. No phone call or followuup.  Called back 10 days later. I heard someone would be calling me back. Still nothing happened.  Case was escalated. Still no contact from Lenovo.  When I checked back, Lenovo said the escalated case had been closed because of lack of information. A huge lie. Still no action or repair.  Case was escalated again. STILL no call back from Lenovo.  So, then I had to get corporate's attention.  Repair finally happened. Take time to review coverage and limitation :

On my end, I tried using the model as some may not be marketed on some regions using the international warranty look up page.  Listed location would include UK and you can call in Lenovo UK 0333-777-3991 for details .

Hey Lenovo, I don't wanna say this but I am having a worst experience with Lenovo Product. There's a saying, first impression is the last impression and lenovo failed it in. Ok let's take a look at my problem and please help me. 2 months ago I buy a Lenovo Ideapad Y700-26ISK from local shop in Pakistan with 1 Year International Warranty. After 1 month my screen start flickering and It end up continuously flickering when I press the power button. See the screenshot below.???I take my laptop to the shop from where I bought it, He says it's the ram problem you have to change the ram. After paying $40 for the single 8GB ram my laptop just work fine for 2 days and then it's start doing that flickering again and after 4 to 5 hours I reopen my laptop, it's just boot for 2 second and then reboot that loop continuously again and again even I cannot see the lenovo logo. Then I take it to the same shop and he says you have claim your warranty and according to him I have to send my laptop from Pakistan to USA for claiming and repairing process which will be $150 and in which he cannot do anything. All I am worry about, is there any service center in Pakistan so i can take my laptop to there to solve my issue because when I buy a laptop I paid additional $50 for 1 Year International warranty. I can say that Dell and HP are the best company who produces best products and I am one of the user of Dell and HP and I never have a problem with their products and they also op... I would prefer that one. Page 19 Manual  Not many online sellers are ready to send it to Spain. 4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery 740715-001 : Ebay , Ebay 3rd party Spain3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery 746641-001  Using 3rd party battery is not recommended, but if it good company I would go with it considering no other online sellers are ready to send genuine HP part to your place.   Regards Visruth

Morning,I purchased a Lenovo B50-50 Laptop from a supermarket back in November of last year.  Now, my laptop will not turn out, has no power whatsoever and so I assumed this may be an issue with the charger.  So I then purchased a new charger... nothing.  After hours of looking in to what may be happening, I have a feeling there is a hardware issue within the motherboard.   ANYWAY, I went on to the Lenovo website to check my warranty, and find that it has expired (and started in February last year).  How can this be possible when I purchased the laptop in November and was not second hand?  It was purchased from a Tesco supermarket.  Now, I need my laptop for work, and I have a feeling it may cost a lot of money to have it repaired for a new motherboard (if needed), and may as well buy a laptop.  I just can't see how this is fair considering it's only a new laptop and turns out to be a bit of a waste of money?  Has anyone else experienced this before?  Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I bought this laptop on ebay new for my mother and had kept it in my closet for a few months. I gave it to her as a gift and a few months later i was watching her use it and noticed she was repeatedly shutting down the laptop and turning it back on, i asked why? She said the internet wouldnt work unless she did that multiple times. So i had a look at it and made sure all of the drivers were installed (they were) and counldnt find out why it was doing it other than a hardware issue (possibly) So i asked her where the warranty was tried to see if i could get hp to take it back, but the warranty said it has expired. She didnt use this thing for a year, i kept it in my closet for months..is there some way hp takes in certain cases and looks past the warranty date?  I cant really afford to buy her another nor can she and she is stuck with this thing. The laptop is still in very good condition we just need the internet to work on it. Is there anything that can be done?

While ordering the T470, I made the mistake of not checking the prices of warranty upgrades and was just casually checking the configuration to see that the prices weren't high at all. . I'd love to get onsite:  Is there any way that I could contact Lenovo and have them add / upgrade the warranty? It's been exactly one month since the laptop was delivered. Could have called them directly but wanted to hear your thoughts and the best course of action. Any comments would be highly appreciated. You can extend a warranty at any time while it's in force. So I don't see why you wouldn't be able to upgrade a warranty during that same period. I would call Lenovo and ask them how to proceed to get on-site.

By mistakely some water spilled on my HP Laptop (Pavilion G6) and now it is showing water on screen and looks like screen is damaged. I immediately turn it off and havent check yet so I dont know other things are working properly or not.  My laptop is new in warranty period so does HP provides water damage protection in warranty period? Buy your plan at the same time you purchase your HP product to get the most coverage and value. Because accidents are unavoidable, and the costs associated with them can really add up." It looks like it can be purchased during the standard warranty and would cover incidents of damage while the coverage is in place, or damage that happens after you purchase the extra coverage.  This might be good information for your next purchase.Thanks,

How can Dell not consider a serious overheating problem with my Inspiron 17 7778 2-in-1 a replacement option. I have less than 40 hours on it have been on the phone with tech support multiple times and it is currently in the "repair" cycle and I have been without my business computer for over 2 weeks while they authorized / sent the return box, entered in the system and diagnosed it. How does one contact someone at Dell with a level of authority to do something other than state that they do not really warrant their product they just give customers the run around.

I have a 7779 for about a month and so far, no problems.  If it is getting hot, where is it getting hot?  If on the bottom, what area of the bottom?  Do you hear the fan running and is it constant or changing?
Latest Bios?  Did it ever not get hot since you have had it?
My System threw three BSODs the first hour due to a product registration utility, but stopped after the initial problem.
Have you checked your Processor speed/utilization and drive usage to see if it is being overworked?  Anything showing in Task Manger showing high CPU usage?

Apparently, my HP Pavilion 15t is having issues charging.  Every time I want to charge it fully, I have to perform the trick of uninstalling the battery driver, removing the battery, holding the power button for 1 minute, and recharging the battery. My laptop is out of warranty.  Now, ever since the warranty expired, I upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 16GB.  This leads me to my question - will HP still service my laptop for a fee?  If so, is there a possibility that the second 8GB stick of RAM might be removed by HP?
