I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently purchased an x230 and everything is perfect but the battery fit.  It moves up and down slightly.  I know there are many posts in the lenovo forums for all different models that the battery fits lose in "x" model and solutions of putting paper / foam / tape to make the battery fit tighter.   What I'm wondering is if anyone has actually had the problem fixed by lenovo.  I've read a few posts where a user has had the base piece of the case replaced (where the battery fit's into) and that has solved the problem.  I'm still within my return period on my x230 and am awaiting a call back from tech support to see if there is anything they will do but I don't think I will keep it if they can't fix it.   I'm just curious has anyone actually had luck by replacing the base piece.  From what i've read a replacement battery hasn't worked for anyone.  Also, I know everyone says its by design for thermal purposes but I haven't actually seen any official confirmation of this from lenovo.   Thanks.

A:Battery Loose / Battery wiggle in x230 and LENOVO ...

As a follow up, I'm just curious if this is a widespread issue?  Anyone have loose battery in their x230 / x220?  I'm not talking about it falling out...but just a few millimeters of wiggle room.  Basically when i pick mine up or place it down, I can feel / hear the battery move.  I'm just trying to get an idea if this is a real problem or thats just how every thinkpad is.  I called support and they are sending someone to replace the base panel and we'll see if that fixes it.  I'll update this post when it get's replaced.   Edit* I also asked the lenovo support rep if they had heard of this issue and they said no, never.  I don't see how this is possible as if you do a google search for thinkpad loose battery there are many results.

Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

I have my lenovo x230 laptop set to sleep when I close the lid. When I close the lid the "sleep" icon on the back of the screen lights up. But the batter will not last through the night on sleep mode. Within five hours or so, the battery is completely drained and I have to plug in and boot up the system. I've never seen such poor batter performance during sleep mode on any other laptop I've ever owned.  Another thread in this forum blames the USB port that allows you to charge mobile phones/etc. during low-power states and recommends disabling the "always power on" option fo this USB port in the Bios settings. I've done so, be it doesn't seem to have helped. At least my laptop still will not make it through the night in sleep mode.  At this point, it seems my ownly option is to use sleep mode only when the laptop is plugged in and hibernation mode when on batter power, which is disappointing. I've never had to worry about this in the past with other laptops.  Perhaps/probably related is the fact that the lenovo ThinkVantage Power Manager (v. 7.16) hangs at the splash screen when I try to open it, so I've been trying to manage the power through the windows control panel power settings.

Hi i recently bought a lenovo z51, but i am disapointed in the battery life, i have taken the laptop apart and can see that there is loads of space which is not being used. After upgrading to it, my battery life is now about 3 Hours and I didn't change anything. My workload is also the same. There is also no process in the background which is killing the battery and the Intel graphic chip is working fine. I absolutly have no clue what I can do. But honestly, I don't want to reinstall, because this would take ages.

Last week my laptop was able to get through a 6 and a half hour school day and still have a little charge left over--I could still work on it for another half hour or so when I got home. Yesterday, it died at the end of my first two classes, and that's only about three and a half hours. For my last and longest class, I had to borrow paper for notes. I hadn't even opened my laptop before I got to school. Looking at a full charge now, it says it's only good for 3 hours and 20 minutes.I have no idea what's changed from last week to this one. I haven't installed any updates, and I don't use any programs that eat up a lot of CPU, especially during class. If there's anything different, the fan has been louder than usual. Can anybody shed some light on what might've happened? Edit: some useful information I forgot to add is that this laptop is less than a year old. The battery is much too young to be degrading this quickly.

Now it seems to lose the same amount of battery in a weak 140 seconds(just a little bit more than 2 minutes!). Can someone please help me find the cause and if I can fix it? I have been using this Laptop for more than a year now, and Im really disappointed with the battery life. Before that May-June 2017 Windows 10 update, Im normally getting around 3-4 hours of laptop runtime with minimal to moderate tasks, but now it was reduced to half. I already did the following:1. Battery replaced (original not oem or cheap knock-off)2. Windows 10 Reset3. Control background apps and start-up items.4. Everything was updated, even the Bios. When I complained about it, the service center mentioned something that it has something to do with being connected to a Wifi Network, even without downloading any updates. Kindly refer this to your engineering team. Also, the few minutes upon booting this laptop, the machine is somewhat laggy in terms of response, like asking someone who had just waken-up to do task that requires speed and precision. Lenovo might try to communicate with Microsoft regarding this matter as I believe that the system was not optimized for the succeding updates as of June last year.

Hi,

Since beginning 2015, I own a Toshiba Tecra Z40-A-16C.

I noticed some strange behaviour with regards to the battery life indicator. When the notebook is fully charged, the indicator shows 100% remaining. And, when I use the notebook, the percentage slowly decreases, as expected.
However, once it is somewhere around 50%, the indicator suddenly decreases and says it has only 5 or 4% left and I should plug in immediately.

Any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Regards,
Oliver

The battery may need calibrating. Recharge and discharge it completely a few times.

If it still happens, the battery may need replacing. You can check the wear level using HWMonitor from cpuid.com.

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

My Specs: i7-8650U 2560*1440 16GB RAM 512GB SSD I was suffering from a fan and overheating issue after receiving my unit. The problem has been officially confirmed by Lenovo and other users. I tried all the solutions including BIOS and drivers update, undervolting, and run the commands from Lenovo. But the problem didn't get any better. Some folks mentioned that a clean reinstall of Wins 10 from MS could solve the problem, so I did and the situation did become better. However, I was concerned if the reinstall will affect the battery life since PC manufacturers adjust Wins to maximize the battery life. A few days ago, I just got a chance to use the unit on battery. I had the battery saver on and set the brightness to 50%. I have been using this setting on my old unit that I was about to return to Lenovo for two months. Under it, Wins estimation usually showed me that the battery will last for more than 9 hours after a full charge. I never used the laptop long enough to let the battery die, but it was very sound. However, with the same setting after a clean reinstall from MS on my new laptop. The Wins estimation showed me 7 hours for most and usually just 5 hours or something. I saw the battery reduce 10 percent within 10 mins for simple web browsing and email stuff. I've restarted and charged the battery to let Wins figure out the estimation for a few times. I did feel the battery percent decreased faster now than Lenovo's factory setting Wins 10.... Read more

To all owners of X1 Carbon 2017 (5th gen).I read all of those reviews where people are impressed by 10+ hours of battery life (15,5h advertised), but I can't really figure out how....!? First time I tested was a normal working day - Firefox (a lot of Flash it must be said), Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat. Nothing really heavy, no peripherals except Bluetooth mouse. Brightness dimmed 1 level below the ideal. It lasted for about 4 hours! I windows's list of apps affecting battery life, Firefox was on 1st place with 32-35% Second attempt - same set of tasks, however less Firefox (no flash) - 7 hours. Now in the middle of a 3rd attempt (using Opera this time) - battery time remaining indication goes over 10h only when I completely stop using the laptop Not many apps running in the background either (Dropbox, Skype...) So my question - do you guys get more than 10h of battery life and HOW? Do you enable "Battery Stretch"? How actively do you use it and for what?

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

It only reaches 92 percent and light goes green and will not go further no matter if i leave it plugged in. I seem to be getting good hours on a charge but worry that unit is defective. Any help...Thx
