On both Win 7 RC and Win 7 home premium 64 bit, I have been "enjoying" the sensation of sporadic black screen shut down/restarts. I ran the RC on my previous system with no probs, but since upgrading my mobo to a Gigabyte X58 udr3, 6gb Corsair ddr 3 and Intel i7 920 processor, I seem to have joined that happy band of people who experience this frustrating occurance. As I dont get a bsod, I dont even get proper error details, and the bugcheck (which apparantly causes these events?) is 0. The only link I can make, after rummaging in the event logs, is that exactly 5 secs before every critical kernel power shutdown, the filter manager is up to something. Any MS boffins out there like to add their thoughts - love Win 7, but this is a tad frustrating!

A:Filter manager causing event 41 restarts?

Hi Swtrains,

I would like to suggest you update the BIOS, hardware drivers and Windows first.

If it reoccurs, you may try the following steps.

1.    Click Start, right click Computer and click Properties.
2.    Click Advanced system settings and click Settings under Startup and Recovery.
3.    Uncheck the box for Automatically restart and click OK.

What’s the result?

If it still cannot work, I also would like to suggest you test the issue in Clean Boot.Arthur Li - MSFT

Not sure when this started but I wanted to check out a problem on this system and when I went to do some filtering on the event logs the Event Sources section was empty. I can filter by event level, I can filter by Event IDs but if I try any of the drop
downs, Event sources or Keywords the lists are blank.

Any suggestions?

Alright, started getting the 1001 BugCheck crash with Event 41 Kernel-Power BSOD a few times not long ago, widely spaced out incidents (it will lock up, make a very weird repetitive noise through my stereo speakers and will also get black and white bars across the screen before the blue screen turns up and asks for restart option choice). And Event 4 k57nd60a has been ongoing for as long as I can remember.

Any ideas?

Memory exception but we need to examine the DMP files to find out why.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb ... Read more

The 7a in this string "X64_0x7a_c0000185" means that you've had a BlueScreen STOP error 0x7a - whose symbolic name is Kernel Data Inpage Error
More info on that here: http://www.carrona.org/bsodindx.html#0x0000007A

The c0000185 error is an NT Status message which means "The I/O device reported an I/O error.
Most often the I/O device refers to your hard drive.
Note that the Usual Causes section of the 7a error also refers to hard drive.
As such, while waiting for a reply to your uploads, I'd suggest running these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html
Please start with the hard drive diagnostics as that's the most likely cause here.

Hi,

My PC restarts for 3 times daily in a period of 8-9 hours. I am using windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Kindly suggest me a solution. Attach please find the dump file.

A:Blue Screen event

Quote:
"It's not a true crash, in the sense that the bluescreen was initiated only because the combination of video driver and video hardware was being unresponsive, and not because of any synchronous processing exception".

Since Vista, the "Timeout Detection and Recovery" (TDR) components of the OS video subsystem have been capable of doing some truly impressive things to try to recover from issues which would have caused earlier OSs like XP to crash.

As a last resort, the TDR subsystem sends the video driver a "please restart yourself now!" command and waits a few seconds.

If there's no response, the OS concludes that the video driver/hardware combo has truly collapsed in a heap, and it fires off that stop 0x116 BSOD.

If playing with video driver versions hasn't helped, make sure the box is not overheating.

Try removing a side panel and aiming a big mains fan straight at the motherboard and GPU.

Run it like that for a few hours or days - long enough to ascertain whether cooler temperatures make a difference.

If so, it might be as simple as dust buildup and subsequently inadequate cooling.

I would download cpu-z and gpu-z (both free) and keep an eye on the video temps

Problem event name: Blue screen
for details read a minidump file.
I've uploaded the minidump file here.

someone help me to fix this problem.

A:Problem event name: Blue screen..... plz help

before we go too far into this is it ok if you boot into safemode? If it is it may just be a corrupt driver which is easy to find and sort.

Ill take a look at the .dmp file but it may be usefull if you post up a few to see if theres any common factors in the crashes , if its a hardware issue .dmp files can be a little temperamental to say the least

An unusual sequence of events led to the following BSOD error code: Stop 0x0000007B (0xF7A46528, 0xC000000E, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Here's what happened. I just built a new Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit system with Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 motherboard and AMD Phenom II X4 B60 processor. All good. I then removed the boot drive from my old (like 8 years!) Dell Dimension desktop running XP Pro and installed it on the Win7 machine using the legacy IDE connector on the Asus mb. The Win7 machine saw it fine, renamed it DRV2_VOL1 and assigned it to G: . I then copied all the files I wanted from that drive onto one of the partitions on my SATA drive on the Win7 system. Then I shut it down, removed the old Dell IDE drive and reinstalled it on the Dell system and booted that one up. BSOD with the above stop code. Of course, there was also verbiage on the screen about checking the hard drive and hard drive controllers which I can repeat if anybody thinks that would be helpful. It looks like the installation on the new system (with new motherboard and hard drive controller) modified something on the old Dell drive, rendering it unable to boot when reinstalled on the Dell. I have not found anything specific to this sequence on Microsoft's site, though this link led me to think about the hard drive controller: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314082.

Is this as simple as booting the Dell with the XP installation disks and selecting rep... Read more

I have hundreds of these errors for event id's 1026,1049 and 1059, I have searched and cannot find anything remotely associated with these errors or the cause of them:

The description for Event ID 1026 from source Internet Explorer cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

There all have the same information and event log online help does not "help" , any ideas?

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

I am hoping you guys may be able to adivse

I have owned my dell inspiron 1520 for a few years now, and have upgraded the ram to 4gb for a litle extra speed.

I have recently been getting a blue screen crash and reboot, it only flashes for a moment but it seems to be memory dump problems. I have tried changing the "automatically manage paging file size" to custom (putting in the recomended amount of 5359). This seems to work for a while but then for some reason when I checked today after the blue screen occured it had gone down to around 3000?

I am using the event viewer to try and find out what other problems may be uderlying, these are currently listed (I did reboot in safe mode so some may of been caused by this?)

OK, so, I have a Toshiba laptop that runs Windows Vista. The internet browser I use is Mozilla Firefox ( just recently downloaded a new beta version of it too and tried that, didn't fix anything). Every time when I'm on youtube, my computer shuts down and gives me a blue screen (sometimes it takes one hour, two hours, three hours, or more, it's also done it right after the computer starts, and I've tried with only youtube open, so it's not that I'm running too many things, I don't think). Hi

To be honest I never had any problems watching the videos from youtube.
You will need to have the flash player plugin and I noticed that new flash player version has been released. So check this?
Update the flash player?

Back to BSOD issue? it can happen due to hardware or software issue but in your case I think it?s software related.
If the flash update does not help, recover the unit again and test it with new fresh preinstalled OS.

These were caused byt sbapifs.sys. Sbapifs.sys is related to SBAPIFS Active Protection Driver. Mfr sunbelt

Simply, you should un-install it.

You also have a hardware problem but that may simply be becasue of the sbapifs.

OS is Win7 32 bit and Vista 32bit.

A:Detect blue screen occurance in Event Logger

There is no standard set of Event IDs for BSODs. Event ID 41 is not always related to a BSOD. 41 may appear if a Live Kernel Event occurs as well.

BSODs may not always be recorded by the Event Viewer logs if catastrophic hardware failure involved.

Sometimes, the Event Viewer logs will record 6008 -

Code:
The previous system shutdown at 9:58:56 PM on 8/31/2010 was unexpected.
Try these 2 places for additional information -

1. WERCON -
START | type view | "View all Problem Reports" | 2x-click on line item for additional crash info

2. Reliability Monitor -
START | type perfmon /rel

Hi,

I'm on Windows 7 Premium, 64 bit. Since 2 weeks, my system crash randomly when I'm on the internet.

Here's the dump attached.

Thanks a lot!!!

A:Blue Screen Event - system crash and reload

Please run the DM Log Collector again and upload a new zip, the current uploaded one misses several logs.
You could check if there are 18 .txt,
1 .nfo,
1 or more .dmp,
files present, if this is the case then all logs are present
If there are a few missing, no problem as we can get them manually if required

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your... Read more

This is a task for someone with Sherlock Holmes mentality, keeping in mind I am virginal in computers stuff.

I am getting at initiating the PC a blue screen with the following warning:

"A PROBLEM HAS BEEN DETECTED AND WINDOWS HAS BEEN SHUT DOWN TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPUTER AGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA."

It has shown either error +++ Stop 0x00000050 (0xE1357000, 0x00000001,0x80557819,0x00000001)

or this other one:

+++STOP:0x0000007E, (with serial number between brackets)

So far I have a week following all kind good advices I have received from kind people here in this forum. But Iīm stuck with no solution at sight. I have disconnected hardware and eliminated software recently installed. Nothing happens.

Today reviewing the MS library for "PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA I found the instruction to check for error messages in the SYSTEM LOG at EVENTS VIEWER ( Start, Control Panel, Performance and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, and then double-click at EVENT VIEWER)

In this log I found a list of ERRORS AND WARNING signals broken down by TYPE OF SIGNAL, DATE, TIME, SOURCE and EVENT CODE.

I will appreciate your help in trying to trace the origin of my blue screen through the SYSTEM LOG EVENTS and how to interrelate them to solve my problem if this is the right track.

Hi guys, my first post on your forum so please be patient. Also note my PC tech knowledge is very limited so please use "baby language" for now.

I have been experiencing shut down problems for the last month now. The strange thing is though it is only at night when I shut down. If I switch on in the morning and an hour later shut down, no problem. This is the error code I have managed to get of the PC.

I have no new programs installed and only external equip is a Samsung 500GB drive and a Canon Printer. Both however I have used for quite some time and never given problems.

Any help or advice will be appreciated.

Well, I have started in the last week or so to find that my Windows 7 64bit Self Built PC suddenly shuts down without warning, this has occurred randomly but is happening more often.
I have copied below the event logs at the time of the latest shut down in the hope you may be able to let me know what the problem may be and hopefully how to correct it.
They are all noted as the same time but I guess the last entry happened first.

Here we go:

It looks to be a hardware problem. Have you added any new hardware lately, e.g. RAM? Any overclocking?

You've also got a Norton file left over. You need to make sure all remnants of Norton are removed.

I'm using Windows 7 Pro x64. I'm trying to create a custom view in Event Viewer that will contain only resume events for unknown reasons (WakeSourceType=0).

Here's the query I'm using:

<QueryList>
  <Query Id="0" Path="System">
    <Select Path="System">
     *[System[Provider[@Name='Microsoft-Windows-Power-Troubleshooter'] and (EventID=1)]]
      and
     *[EventData[Data[@Name='WakeSourceType'] and (Data='0')]]
    </Select>
  </Query>
</QueryList>

This query needs to find all events in the System log with the "Power-Troubleshooter" source and Event ID=1 for which the "WakeSourceType" is 0.

When I use the above syntax, it finds events with Power-Troubleshooter as the source, Event ID=1, and
any WakeSourceType as long as any data value in the Event Data section is zero.

How can the Event Viewer query be restricted to WakeSourceType=0 name/value pairs?

Hello @all!

We are tracking some user activities on our Win 7 machine and the security logs are quite big. Every 20MB the Event Viewer is creating a new archive and stores it, this happens several times a day.

My problem now is how to browse those archives? As it seems, when accessing the Event Viewer, he only hands out the active part and does not search in the archives. How may I query or browse the existing archived files without loading them one by one as there are to many files?

Thanks for any hints, links or ideas!

A:How to query Event viewer *archives*?

Hm... seems to be a tough one?

I still did not found a usable way to browse more than one archive after the other... it takes a lot of time to find something. Maybe I did not understand the way it works.

Could need some ideas!
Thanks.

Something that is worrying me is how my girlfriend's name appears at times in the Workstation name. We both have our own laptops with just 1 profile, on my laptop under my name and on hers under her name.

However, her workstation is showing on mine which I do not understand. When I start up my computer there is just one user profile (mine) and I put in my password. Even when she uses my computer she is still connecting as me so I don't understand how her name would appear in workstation name. Another thing is that a lot of the times I have noticed this are times when I would have been working on my computer and she would be at work, so it is very confusing. Should I be worried about this?

Malware bytes has shown the usual malware stuff PUP.OPTIONAL.CONDUIT etc so I don't think this is the problem: Here is an example of one of the logs. I have removed her name and my IP:
