I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, this is my first post and I was hoping someone can help me... I looked on my router and seen that is supports a 5 Ghz connection, but my computer can't find it in the listed networks. I look into it a little bit and find out that my Wi-Fi Adapter does not support it. I was wondering if anyone knew any adapters that would fit my laptop, because I know some computers have different slots for them kind of things or whatever lol. I looked everywhere and I have no clue on how to figure out if there is a dual band adapter that would fit my pc.. :/ The adapter is Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi Adapter Thanks!!

Hi all,

I looked online and I'm still a bit confused whether I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchase. Can someone explain to offer a suggestion as to which one is best?

Thank you in advance.

A:dual band wifi card vs single band wifi card

I should get dual or single band wifi for a laptop that I would like to purchaseClick to expand...

do you mean a router
or as part of the laptop spec ?

what router do you have and does it work in dual band simultaneously

the advantage of the 5ghz signal is if you are in a crowded 2.4ghz environment then 5ghz helps avoid interference - also the coverage is wider - although the 5ghz router i have linksys - does not seem to be

if your current router only works in 2.4ghz , then no advantage in the short term

some routers are advertised as dual band - but you have to choose between 2.4 or 5 ghz and so ALL devices will need to support 5ghz

Hi there!

So about 2 months ago, I purchased the AC53 when I moved in to a house share.
We have Virgin Media SuperHub that does both 2.4ghz and 5ghz.
When I installed it, it worked fine and connected excellently to the 5G band, a few days ago however the 5G connection disappeared off my list and now it always connects me to the 2.4ghz band.

Tried resetting my SuperHub and re-installing the drivers and software utility for the AC53 but alas it doesn't show. My phone however can find and connect to the 5G band.

I'm a bit confused as where to go from here!

Any help would be much appreciated!

Can you run ipconfig /all and post back the results.
Click Start, in the search box type cmd, under programs right click on cmd and select "Run as Administrator".
In the command prompt window type ipconfig /all and press enter.
Next right click within the command prompt and select "Select All" press enter.

OK, this is my first time being a part of or using a tech related forum so here it goes:

I'm trying to help save a neighbor some money by fixing their wireless network.

WNDR3700 Dual band Netgear router.

2.4ghz wireless b/g/n with enabled SSID broadcast, channel=auto, mode set to 130Mbps
WPA-TKIP + WPA2-AES. wireless isolation is not enabled.

5Ghz wireless a/n enabled SSID broadcast, channel = 44, Mode is up to 300Mbps
No security encription. (i know...bad, but the lady has lots of kids and family members coming
and going from the house so she doesn't want one encripted). Video network enabled

Both Radio frequencies are enabled, fragment and CTS/RTS set to max

WPS settings = keep existing.

IPv6 not enabled, No repeating is enabled, No guest networks are enabled(however ssid broadcast is enabled for guest profile 1)
The problem, and reason for fixing the problem is that the 2.4 Ghz band light on the router is ON however the SSID is not being seen by any client in the house. the netgear interface says it is on and working. the neighbor needs the 2.4ghz band to work because the printer is wireless and will only recognize 2.4Ghz SSIDs. Also they have older nintendo DS clients they would like to use on the network.

During the day the 5 Ghz band works with very seldom (1-2) disconnects while the 2.4 Ghz band wont be visible to any device. in the evening both bands will come online, and very often will every computer get disconnected from either, the 5Ghz band wi... Read more

My Billion BiPAC 7800VDOX Dual Band Wireless VoIP ADSL2+ Router has two bands:  2.4GHz and 5GHz.  and is wirelessly connected to my laptop OMEN by HP Laptop PC  17-w007tx.  It always shows as connected via 5GHz band only.  My laptop also shows 5GHz band only in the list of available networks;  2.4GH does not show up in the list of available networks.  It is not so in my other laptop which is also connected to the same router and that laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks.  Thus, I can choose to connect to any of the two bands as per my choice. I have tested the router and it is working perfectly; there is nothing wrong with it.I wonder what can possibly be wrong in my OMEN laptop that it does not show both the bands which it should. At times, when I click to open the list of available networks, 2.4GHz may appear momentarily only and then disappears; thus I can not choose it for connection. I would appreciate any help to resolve this issue so that my OMEN laptop shows both the bands in the list of available networks so as to choose either one for connection.

N600 Wireless Dual Band Router WNDR3400.

I am trying to get a signal out in my garage at the opposite end of my router location. I am getting 1 bar and "poor" signal. I downloaded inSSIDer to analyse my signal and I notice that my "Wireless Network (5GHz a/n)" is not broadcasting anything. The checkbox for "Enable SSID Broadcast" is checked.

I have very limited knowledge of this stuff but it seems to me that if it is a dual band that I should be seeing 2 different signals, right?

All I see is this: Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n)

I have attached screenshot of my settings

Can someone help me out with this? Thanks, Joe

Hello, I just got my E560 on 9/27/16. It has windows 7, 64 pro installed. I plugged in the battery and waited an hour or so before turning the system on. Everything booted ok and I entered my hidden router for my wifi. Unfortuanly, it would not connect. I finally dug out an old ethernet cable to hook up and test the system and download some software. I then unhid my router and still was not able to find it. Everyones router in the neigborhood showed up but mine. I call tech support but they claimed that it was my routers software. I have 4 other devices working just fine on the wifi and I even set my printer up for wifi while the router was hidden with no problem. I checked the Lenovo site for updates but the system said everything was up to date. I went to the Intel site and downloaded their current driver for this card. The laptop finally noticed the router while it was unhidden and I again hid the router and rebooted my Laptop. This cured the problem. However, I was displeased with Customer service they tried to tell me it was a problem with my router and not the system and all my drivers shipped from the factory were up to date. I hope this will help anyone who has a similar problem.

I've had experience this problem for a while now on my newly built windows 10 rig. Every few hours, my Wifi simply stops working; the connection is lost. Sometimes it reconnects after a minute or so. Most of the time, I would need to manually disable/enable the wifi adapter in my Network Settings to get it back up again.

It happened with a relatively expensive adapter that I bought not to long ago - Netgear A6210 USB 3.0 dual-band wifi adapter. I found a thread about this issue here. I've not been able to resolve it with any of the tips provided (including downloading a generic 3rd party Mediatek driver). I've used this same adapter without this problem on my older Win7 machine. I thought maybe this adapter "went bad".

So I tried to replace this adapter with an older Wifi adapter made by Rosewill, using older Rosewill drivers. The same issue occurs. (Again, this Rosewill adapter worked perfectly in my Win7 system) So I have a hunch the problem is Windows 10 itself. Does it not place nicely with existing or older wifi adapters on the market? Would I need to buy a new adapter specifically certified for Windows 10?

Anyone have any insights on this would be greatly appreciated.

Hey guys...First time poster and not much time here at work. Sorry for not being able to use the search feature right now, but I don't have much time to post or browse..... So on to my questions. Thanks for being patient and answering if you can.

Anyways, just installed ultimate 64-bit and am having some internet connection issues. I have installed 2 different linksys wireless usb adapters and both have the same issue. The freeze the connection every couple of mins. This is most noticable in when I game. Both in COD4 and WoW my game will timeout for a brief 2 secs and then kick back in. I've read this issue elsewhere and have not found a solution.

My question is, does anyone know wireless adapter (usb, pci) that is fully compatible with vista 64-bit that doesn't have this issue? Every card that I have looked at so far doesn't say whether it's 64-bit compatible, but rather that it is compatible with vista.

So far I have $120 bux worth of adapters sitting on my desk and both of them preform the same way. I just want a simple card that will perform like a champ.

BTW, I have bought a Linksys WSUB54GC $40 and WSUB600N? (g+n) $70 and both have the same results.

Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a direct X9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The application will now terminate.

This is what pops up on my screen everytime I try to play my Sims 2 game on my computer. Is there any way that you can help me?

A:Problems with DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters

And i'm assuming you've got DX9.0c installed, run DxDiag and post it's version here.
Also, the issue may be the drivers with your video card, so I have a few questions:

I am wondering if you have overlooked uninstalling old video card drivers driver first before installing new drivers?

The sequence should go something like this: uninstall old driver (from Add/Remove Programs), restart, if Windows asks to install a driver, cancel, install new driver
and restart. You don't want to install a graphics driver on top of an old one. Sometimes you have to use programs like Drivercleaner to get rid of all driver files

This sounds like it is most likely an issue with the drivers on your video card. It is possible that at some point in time you installed an older version of drivers ON TOP of your newer version of drivers, then..........updated your video drivers later on.

This creates an unstable driver base for your card. I would recommend creating a file on your desktop and downloading the latest drivers.

Then, un-install your video card and restart your computer. On the restart, your computer will say "new hardware found'. It will search for drivers, then you may install the latest CLEAN version of drivers.

I hope this solves your issue.

Can someone explain in layman's terms how a dual band wireless router works? I've spent months reading various articles and websites, and I still just don't get it. I read on one site (can't remember which) that dual band routers require special wireless adapters, but I've never seen a dual band wireless adapter, so I doubt the validity of that. Is a dual band wireless router good for splitting video streaming from regular web surfing?

If someone knows of a good website that offers a clear and accurate explanation, please post a link. Don't post links from random Google searches. I've read most of them. If they helped, I wouldn't be posting here.

i installed the sims2 no problem, but when i try to open the game this message comes up:
"Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure you have a DirectX9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer..."

I have DirectX 9.0c installed on my computer, as well as Windows XP Service Pack 2. I am on a 2005 toshiba tecra laptop. i noticed that soooo many *angry* people have had this problem yet there is no solution (believe me, i have tried all of them that are posted on random boards) here are my system specs:

A:HELP! SIMS2 CANT FIND DIRECTX 9.0c COMPATIBLE GRAPHICS ADAPTERS!

The Sims 2 has fairly high DirectX 9.0c requirements hence why so many people are confused. You need more than just DirectX 9.0c installed- you must also have a 3d card that supports the minimum levels of DirectX 9.0 acceleration/features used by the game.

The Sims2 absolutely requires:
- HW Acceleration
- HW T&L (Transform & Lighting)

If you have old, obsolete drivers for your 6200, this can cause it to misreport it's features. More likely though is the "TE" version of the card may be a stripped down version of the 6-series, stripping out T&L and other hardware requirements for the game.

Hit this link here:

Select "The Sims 2" and try both the minimum AND recommended. See what flags this test seems to feel you miss. From there, it may simply be you are unable to play it.. especially if you have updated your drivers from NVIDIA's website.

We recently went though a big electrical storm, and our D Link router shorted out. We replaced it with a Netgear N Dual Band router. Our two desktops had D Link PCI Adapters. Since the router change, the desktops won't pick up any signal. Our PS3 and my laptop work fine.

My question is, are D Link adapters compatible with Netgear routers?

Yes.

Make sure you have the latest drivers for the adapters.

Start "simple"--make sure the router is using the 'g' band (alone or in combination) and is unsecured or using an encryption that is supported by your adapters/drivers.

I got a new d-link wireless N router the other day which solved most of my slow internet problems. It is a dual band router and supports 5ghz but my current network card is only 2.4ghz. I'm in an apartment complex so I figure if I run it on the 5ghz band I will get much less interference from other people's wifi. Only problem is I cant really find a dual band pci card??? The only one i've found is a Linksys WMP600N. I was hoping there were some more options out there. Anyone have any suggestions?

A:Looking for a wireless N dual band PCI card.

Linksys by Cisco Wireless-N PCI Adapter with Dual-Band WMP600N

Sorry, but like you this is the only one that I could find with a PCI interface. They are a reputable manufacturer though.

I have a Linksys WRT600N router connected to my XP computer, and a Linksys WMP600N PCI adapter in my Windows 7 computer, and both are enabled with Dual-Band. I can connect to my 2.4GHz and my 5GHz connections just fine on my Windows 7 computer. My question is, can I connect to both at the same time to speed up my connection, and how?

A:Simultaneous Dual-Band operation

I dont believe you can connect to both at the same time. Your computer should just connect to the best available connection. Why do you ask, are you not getting good connection speed from the wrt600n or just curious.

I am needing to replace the Realtek wireless card that came in these systems with an Intel Wireless card that will support dual band.  Is there a place I can find what I can install in the following models Lenovo L530Lenovo L540

A:Dual Band wireless for L Series

Good day.

For the L530: https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/l530_fru_list_20130819b.xlsx.pdf
See the ADAPTERS AND SUBCARDS section.

For the L540: https://download.lenovo.com/parts/ThinkPad/l540_fru_bom_20140807.pdf
See the WIRELESS AND SUBCARDS section.

In both cases, you should be able to use the FRU P/Ns to determine your options.

Hope this helps.
Regards.
