Q: can't connect because the sign-in requirements for your device and the network aren't compatible

Before we were going to outside, we can connect Office Wireless. But strangely, when we're back to office evening, we cannot connect Office Wireless. The error message - "can't connect because the sign-in requirements for your device and the
network aren't compatible. Contact your IT personnel". IT person is me.

So, we tried to Wireless Driver update and gpupdate /force many time. But it won't work.
But LAN is properly working fine.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I just moved from California to Tennessee. In california my computer had a LAN connection to the router ( Netgear N600 WNDR3400). Here that isn't an option (the router is in a different room and set up with a different computer).

So, when I turned on my pc and tried to connect to the wireless network i received notice that it had a red x next to my network's name and said "The capability of your network adapter does not match the requirements of this network." At first I thought maybe this had to do with the security but my network has WPA2-PSK which is, oddly enough, the same encryption that another network I can detect has. My network, it claims, has no signal while the other one I can detect has a very slight one.
First thing I tried was resetting the router. That didn't work. Then I looked at other comps in the house.
The signals I was receiving contradict the mac laptop (i know, sling all the hate on it that you want, it is a useful cross-check right now though) which gets a strong signal from my network right next to my pc while getting a very weak/no signal from the other network that my PC is detecting. Odd. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver for my network adapter (Belkin Wireless Pre-N Notebook Network Card).

Anyway, I don't know a lot about computers (and even less about wireless network setup) so any help would be fantastic. It is an odd problem I think though maybe someone has seen it before?

3) I transferred photos from my mobile phone to laptop via Bluetooth, all were "NOT SENT". I found out: I need to right click on the Bluetooth icon and then press "Receive a file". Ops, before this it is automatic.....

I have a linksys wrk54g wireless router connected to my cable modem. Off the router runs my desktop, roomates wireless laptop, my wired xbox360 and my roomates wireless ps3.

My problem is that when i play online games on my desktop, i momentarily get disconnected from the internet....for a couple seconds and drop the game I'm in whenever either the xbox or ps3 are turned on. I also get disconnected from other online programs such as aim/xfire but thats not as bad cuz i just log back in right away. It is pretty annoying and i believe it is a problem with my router somehow?

I am semi competent at computers and setup the network myself. Please if any1 has ideas or has heard of this problem before id appreciate it.

sounds like you have a duplicate IP address on one the the boxes

get a connection and make sure you can browse the Internet using google
and search for anything you like (we'll use this as a test)

Connect a device and make the browser search again (even on the same words).
If you get disconnected, then the last device connected has the conflict.

Go to that device and REMOVE any static IP address and make sure you have
Automatic DHCP for the IP and DNS addresses on that device.

I have a laptop Asus G55 with Intel Advanced 6235N Wireless Card. This laptop has been working fine all this while, but off late i started getting a weird issue.
1. This laptop started dropping wifi connections atleast once a week. All my other devices: Phone and Nexus 7 are able to connect fine.
2. I did a factory reset and installed the latest drivers but it still didnot solve the problem.
3. Tried resetting the Wifi Adapter multiple times but it didnot help.

When nothing worked, I just reset my wireless router(ActionTec from Verizon) and now I was able to connect successfully. Everything worked fine for a week and then I got this problem again. I reset my wireless router and it started working fine again.
What I dont understand is: why is it only my laptop that is facing the problem? Why dont other devices in the network(tablets, phones, other laptops) get the same issue?

Please help me out.
I have Windows 7 64bit OS.

Hello all,

My laptop is the only device that is unable to connect to the wireless internet in my new house. There are at least two other computers and three other phones (including mine) that have no problems connecting to the network. My laptop is a Dell XPS M1530 running on Windows Vista. The wireless router is a Cisco Linksys Model No: WRT310N.

I have never had a problem connecting to any wireless networks in the past, but when I try to connect to this new network it fails every time. After the first two minutes it says "Connecting to network taking longer than usual" and then it says "Connection failed" because the network timed out.

I have Norton Antivirus, and have disabled the both the Norton and Windows firewalls. And I tried to find a driver to download, but I couldn't find any that were compatible with my computer and the router.

I have run out of options and am close to just buying a new router. I would appreciate any help you all are able to provide.

Thank you in advanced!!

Is your wireless security enabled?
if so - log into the router and remove the wireless security - now see if it will connect.
if it does - log back into the router and try with the wireless security enabled again

I'm trying to determine what is different with Windows 7 Embedded (32-bit) and network devices. I have a network device on and I can ping it just fine, but the third party software refuses to see it. If I use either Windows XP, Windows
7 Professional, or Windows 7 Enterprise, then I can connect to the device just fine. Unfortunately, you cannot get new PCs with anything except Windows 7 Embedded or Windows 10.

I've tried many network settings, turned off Windows Firewall, disabled IPv6, etc. So I am looking for suggestions on what else to try. My understanding is that Windows 7 Embedded installs less than other Editions by default, so I suspect that some software
layer needs to get installed.

I recently upgraded my wireless router from D-Link DIR-615 to D-Link DIR-685. Before the changeover, all of my devices were connecting to the router, although I had several problems with dropped connections, etc. The devices in use were:
- Desktop computer
- Laptop computer
- All-in-one touchscreen computer
- Netbook
- iPhone (original model)
- HP TouchPad tablet
- Sony Blu-Ray player
- Two internet radios (Aluratek and Livio)
- Wii

ALL of these devices were connected wirelessly to the network. When I set up the new router, I used a different network name/SSID, but kept the same security key/password. All of the router settings were kept the same (e.g., WPA-2, etc.). After the new router was up and running, every single one of the devices listed above connected (after an initial setup with the new network name, of course) EXCEPT the All-in-one/touchscreen computer. I've tried over and over, and it refuses to accept the security key/password. (The desktop, laptop, and touchscreen are all running Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium.)

After doing some research, I tried some suggested solutions, but nothing seems to work. Nothing on the problem computer has changed since it was last connected to the old router. I checked the "Properties" of the network device on both the Desktop (which has no problems connecting) and the Touchscreen, and they are identical: WPA-2, AES, etc. And I'm 100% positive I'm entering the security key correctly. I have a friend's laptop (Toshiba Satellite L645D-S4040) that she recently got and I can't get the wifi on this thing to work. The built-in wifi card shows fine in Device Manager, but, if I attempt to use it in a network, I get a vague error about driver issues. She got a USB wifi adapter, as well, and the same thing is happening with it. I've installed the drivers from the Toshiba website and made sure they were up to date with Windows for the built-in card and used the CD that came with the on networks wifi adapter to install that driver. Neither adapter shows up in ipconfig /all, either.

Might anyone know where to go next? I could reinstall Windows, but I fear there's something simpler I'm missing.

I have an HP G71 Notebook PC. Recently, some of my USB devices haven't been connecting because the drivers fail to download. It says they can't be found. I've tried to uninstall the driver in the Device Manager and plug it back in again to install it, and it does the same thing. Next to the drivers in the Device manager it has yellow caution signs saying something is wrong. It does this for my iPod Classic Generation 8 160GB and my WD My Passport 500GB External Hard Drive. It also is saying my CD driver has an error, and that won't work when I put a CD in it. Yet my mouse, printer and Gigaware 16GB pen drive work fine and there's nothing wrong with their drivers. I used them before this started happening, so i figured anything I used before now will continue to work, but anything new won't because the driver won't download. The devices work, I've tried them on another computer. Updating the drivers doesn't work either, I get the same error. I've also tried finding the drivers myself but I haven't had any luck. Any advice would be great, thank you!

A:Why aren't my USB Device Divers not working on my laptop?

Hi Mista Monroe,

Welcome onboard.

The infcache.1 in C:Windows/System32/DriverStore might have been corrupted. Deleteing it and allowing Windows rebuild it may resolve the issue.

Do the following:
Disconnect all USB devices except the keyboard and mouse. (Desktop only) (Remove all USB devices in a Laptop)
Locate the INFCACHE.1 file in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore , right click on it, and then click Properties.
In the INFCACHE.1 Properties dialog box, click the Security tab, and then click Edit.
In the User Account Control dialog box, click Continue.
In the Permissions for INFCACHE.1 dialog box under the Group or user names section, click Add.
In the Select Users or Groups dialog box in the Enter the object names to select text box, type Administrators, (plural) not just Administrator. Click OK.
In the Permissions for INFCACHE.1 dialog box in the Permissions for Administrators section, select to allow Full Control, and then click OK.
In the INFCACHE.1 Properties dialog box, click OK.
In the Windows Explorer window, delete INFCACHE.1 (Instead of deleteing you can rename it as INFCACHE.1bak and keep it as a backup, just in case you need to go back.)
Connect a USB device other than the one or all that Windows had trouble detecting. (That means that it has to be one that had not been connected to it earlier anytime.) This forces Windows to rebuild the INFCACHE.1 file.

I'm trying to remove my wireless network and install a wired one. In the
wireless version I connected to the internet via one PC and the other PCs
connected to that one wirelessly.

I've removed the original modem and tried to remove the wireless adapter
from all PCs. However, on the PC that connected to the Internet everything
seems to have gone pear shaped. (The others have all connected perfectly to
the new ethernet router/modem system).

In Device Manager (or looking under Network Connections) there appears to be
a single instance of the Wireless Network Connection (labeled Wireless
Network Connection 5). However, if under Network Connections I select Network
Troubleshooter and perform a scan I can see 3 instances of "Instant Wireless
USB Network Adapter ver 2.6". These "ghost" adapters are causing a problem
because their default IP Gateway address is the same as the address on my
router/modem and my PC can't connect to the new modem because of the
conflicts. (They also appear under Accessories - System Tools - System Information-
Components - Network - Adapters but no driver name is given).

My question - how do I remove these entries? They aren't in Device Manager
and they aren't seen under Network Connections, so the usual methods don't
apply. It's got to be easy - I just don't know how!

A:Network Adapters - That Aren't There

Have you looked for these in the USB section of Device Manager? If they're listed there, right click and "Uninstall" or "Disable" should be available.

Hi Lori,
This issue usually occurs on wireless network connections. I suggest that you turn off any security feature of wireless. Please click Start->Control Panel, double-click Network Connections, right click on the wireless adapter and select Properties. From there choose Wireless Networks, click on your wireless network name and choose properties. Under Network Authentication choose Open to turn off the wireless security. Please try to connect.
If the issue persists, I suggest that you delete the connection, and recreate the wireless network connections. The following website may help you on creating the wireless connection.

A:"computer settings does not match the network requirements

You don't want to use those settings No authentication or encryption won't work.

When in doubt create a new wireless profile and make sure that the routers wireless settings match the ones you are using which should be WPA-2 security and AES encryption. It may even require that you reset the router then redo the wireless settings like set up the SSID "name of network" encryption type and password etc.

After this, if you are still having problems please post a screen shot of the ipconfig/all from this machine.

So, everything was working just fine. Then this message popped up one day on 3/4 laptops connected to the network. All of which are using Win7.

I went to network and sharing and 'forgot' the network. Turned off the router (TP-Link TL-WR740N), turned it back on and all was well for about 24 hours. Then it happened again, so this time I restored the router back to the factory settings, set it all up again (although I did use the same SSID and password). Forgot the network and it was all fine again.

Now the same problem is happening daily and has happened 5/6 times today. I repeat the first process, turn off and on, forget the network connect again, But it keeps happening. We're using WPA2 encryption.

Any ideas? It's truly frustrating me now and I work online so this is really beginning to eat away into my working hours!

So, I now tried to update the device driver on Win7. After dealing with a blue screen of death and getting that all back to normal, I decided that it can't be my machine because it's happening to all the other machines on the network. It's gotta be the router. So I did a factory restore again, but this time I changed the SSID and password for something new. It's online now, but for how long? I'll keep you posted.

I frequently notice that there is the little green arrow in the right below corner of the screen as if a USB device is connected, while it is not. Then I notice my mouse arrow moves a little by itself. As soon as I click on the green arrow and "remove USB device" it disappears and mouse arrow stops moving by itself. Could this be a sign of spyware or anything? I have done a Hijackthis register scan, but nothing dangerous has been detected. Thanks for your advice!

Our Win 7 computers do not show image thumbnails while user browses folders on a network drive. Instead the default thumbnail icon is shown for all pictures. This seems to be the default behaviour for at least jpg images?? If same folders are moved to local
drive the images thumbnails seems to display normally.
Is it possible to enable thumbnails for network localtions also? We have a gigabit LAN so bandwith is not an issue. It just takes a long time to find anything if thumbnails are not used.

A:Image thumbnails aren't displayed while browsing network drives?

You may take the following steps to check if the issue persists.
Enable Thumbnail display on Network folders via group policy:
Note: Group Policy is just for Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate edition.
1. Click Start, type gpedit.msc and press ENTER
2. Go to the following branch:
User Configuration->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Windows Explorer
3. Double-click the “Turn off the display of thumbnails and only display icons on network folders” option and set it to Disable;
4. Click OK.
If you enable this policy, Windows Explorer will only display icons and never display thumbnails on network folders.
If your system is other Windows 7 edition, you may change it from Registry:
1. Launch regedit from Start Search box.
2. Find the following branch:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
3. Check if there is a key named “DisableThumbnailsOnNetworkFolders”. If not, you may create it with the following value:
Value Name : DisableThumbnailsOnNetworkFolders
Value Data : 1 or 0 (0 is to enable the display of thumbnails on network folders; 1 is to disable it.)
Value Type : REG_DWORD
4. Reboot the computer to check if the issue persists.

On this computer I cannot connect to hotmail or iMesh, doesn't seem that the iMesh forum can solve my problem so I'm posting everything I'm having problems with on the internet here for help... When I enter my password and sign into hotmail it gives me a screen saying cannot find server. Also Windows Media Player cannot connect to the internet. I've disabled the XP internet firewall, and downloaded ZoneAlarm. Zonealarm has asked for permission for all three (IE, iMesh, and Windows Media Player) to access the internet, and I chose yes, but they still don't connect. I just found that I cannot access my bank account online either, might be secure sights that I cannot access, but my security settings are at the default "medium" level and there are no restricted sights. I've used adaware as well as spybot. My laptop using the same ISP can connect to all three programs. Please help, tell me if I need to post any more information, I've tried to think of as much as I can refering to other posts with similar problems, but it seems they all differ in some ways. I've used hijackthis and here are the results:

i have a big problem. It has made me reformat 4 times now. Here's the problem:
I bought new components and installed Vista Business 64bit, and everything worked fine, but then all of a sudden my browsers stop connecting (IE7 says "waiting for reply from www.google.com"), MSN messenger and Xfire can't sign in, none of my programs can update (including Windows Update), also, uTorrent can seed, but cannot update trackers. Oh, and i can ping any IP or site i want. Also, immediatly after Windows starts, i get a couple of seconds of everything working (Messenger and Xfire sign in, browser works,..., so it seems like whatever is causing my problem has to load itself and it doesn't do it while Windows is booting. One more thing, if i go into Safe Mode with networking, my connection works fine.
Please help if you can.

A:Browsers don't connect, Messenger can't sign in...

nevermind, it was utorrent that was causing all of this.

I just read an older post from 2005 and I'm having the same EXACT problem on the same EXACT game! I bought Neverwinter Nights 2 and after I installed the thing 5 times, it still says "No compatible Direct 3D device found" when I try to play it. I don't know what's going on. I have the latest ActiveX 10 on my computer. I have Windows Vista. Should that be a problem? The other person on the forum with my problem had Windows Vista also. I figured that all those types of problems wouldn't happen because my dad has installed it on his computer. His has Windows XP though. Anyone have any ideas??? I really want to play my game!!!

When trying to dial in to MSN, I receive the following error msg:

"We are unable to connect to our sign-in server. Please check that your computer's date and time are set correctly, because this is needed to transmit your password."

The machine stays connected and I am able to browse, but cannot access email.

Obviously I checked and verified the date and time are correct. There was a significant spyware infection on the machine that I fixed, but the problem pre-dated removing the spyware. The only other issue I saw was the computer had a corrupted copy of Norton AV 2000 installed (this is a win98 machine).

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

And when it doesn't sign in, many problems occure such as the right click mouse doesn't work in folders, mail doesn't work properly, windows update doesn't work and so on. No error given any where.
Any idea how can I check what is wrong with my system.

PS.: when it does sign in the system is perfect.

I will attempt to outline my problem as clearly as possible below. Yesterday my Notebook was connecting to my home WiFi perfectly, automatically. In the evening, I created a new Microsoft account (@outlook.com) in order to access the Store (you can't download any apps without such an account). All seemed fine at the time. Today, I opened my Notebook and it is not connected to WiFi. So I click on the Wifi icon and tell it to connect to my usual WiFi connection. Upon doing so a dialogue box opens which is called Windows Security. It asks for a username and a passwork. Below the input fields it says "Domain:" and yet there is no domain listed. It's simply blank. Here is the box:  This is what I hate about Windows. It makes a change without educating the user about how to use the new feature. So, I make the presumption that I should input my address and password for the @outlook.com address I created yesterday. When I enter those details the box simply clears itself and immediately comes back. At other times it clears but then Windows tries to connect to the WiFi and is indefinitely stuck and says "checking network requirements." I then put in the short username for the @outlook.com and password, rather than the whole address. This will also not work. It is not possible that I am entering the incorrect username or password. It would have to be this. I can only assume that Windows has created the necessity for a username and passw... Read more

Hi all,

i need your advise pls.

I have a Samsung series 7 laptop with 2 usb3 ports and 2 usb 2.0 ports. On the device manager i can see the installed driver Intel usb 3.0 root hub and intel usb 3.0 extensive host controller.

I also have purchased a Samsung 64GB sdxc card SDXC UHS (I), that according to manufacturer it can reach speeds "Transfer Speed: Up to 80 MB/s Read and up to 40 MB/s Write". I have enclosed this in a USPEED USB3 card reader, so that I use this as a 64Gb usb3 flash drive.

My problem is that everytime I connet this flash drive to my laptop's usb 3 ports, I get the message "This device can perform faster if you connect it to a superspeed usb 3 port" (!!) so I dont get it! What is wrong??

Actual writing speeds, when i copy large files (eg movie) this is done at 28 - 30 MB/s while speeds when copying many small files (folder with many smaller images) is done at 10 - 11.5 Mb/s.

I also have a usb 3.0 Seagate hard drive but I dont see this message everytime I connect it. Also, the exact same test (with the exact same files beeing transferred) are: Large files (eg movie) at 90 - 95 MB/s while smaller files (folder with many smaller images) is done at 34 - 37.5 Mb/s

I know that the Samsung SD card can't achieve the same speeds, but I am mostly curious why this message comes up "This device can perform faster if you connect it to a superspeed usb 3 port" . Is my flash drive operating at usb 3.0?

Thank you for your h... Read more

A:Your device can perform faster when you connect it to a usb3 device

Hi Dionisis , I have a couple of USB 3.0 flash sticks that give me the same message even though I have them in a USB 3.0 port.
In your case it may be due to the fact that an SDXC card isn't really a USB device, I'm not sure on this. someone else may have a better explanation.

You can run comparisons using the same files and copying in the 2.0 and the 3.0 ports to see any difference.
