Preferred Solution: What kind of Wi-Fi card compatible thinkcentre m900 tiny?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi everyone,I am the happy owner of a TinkCentre 'Tiny' M900 desktop with 32Gb RAM and an i5 CPU (Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz).I've been looking for a way to add more horsepower and since some of the M900 tiny desktops were sold with core i7 cpus, I've been wondering if the following upgrades would work:Current CPU: i5-6500T CPU @ 2.50GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 530, 35W, DMI 3.0). (6th Gen)Candidate #1: i7-6700T CPU @ 2.80GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 530, 35W, DMI 3.0). (6th Gen)Candidate #2: i7-7700T CPU @ 2.90GHz, LGA 1151 Intel HD 630, 35W, DMI 3.0). This one is a 7th Gen (KabyLake).Candidate #3: Xeon E3-1268L V5, LGA 1151, Intel P530, 35W, DMI 3.0 (Same Gen, it seems). Some people seem to have been successful with Xeons and the M900 Tiny. All of these chips feature an LGA1151 socket, 35W TDP. I'd be curious if people would recommend either candidate for replacing the original cpu..Thanks,Vincent

I would like to add/install a wireless card to the M900 Tiny. How can I do this?

A:How to install wireless card on M900 Tiny

The M900 Tiny has no PCI expansion slots due to is size, so adding an internal WiFi card is not an option, but you could add an external USB WiFi adapter if desired. The M900 Tiny should already have an built in 802.11ac dual-band WiFi adapter, so you really should not need anything other than the correct driver to use the WiFi function.     Is there some reason you cannot use the built in WiFi?

For all of our desktops we have the display set to turn off after 1 hour of inactivity to save power and extend the life of the monitor.  With the Tiny-In-One 24 & M700 Tiny, once the monitor turns off, it won't wake back up by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard.  The Tiny is still running just fine I can remote to it from another machine but even remoting to it and logging in does not wake the screen.  This is with the TIO running in AIO mode.  The only way to wake the screen is to use the user controls on the front of the monitor to switch to DP mode and back to AIO mode.

Is this a know bug?  Running Windows 7 and I've already reinstalled all drivers and ran the lenovo system update utility and everything is up-to-date.  I also set the display to turn off after only a minute to do more testing and about 1 in every 10 tries, the monitor will wake up normally.  The rest of the time I have to use the user controls on the front of the monitor.

In addition to the same exact thing that Banner has, (well I wake it by pressing the power button, it goes off, then press again, it comes on, then move mouse to wake) but in addition to that quite a few of our clients mention that when they sit down at the computer (without touching anything) it immediately goes black, shows AIO Mode in the top left corner and goes back to the normal screen.

I have an M900 Tiny that has a intermittent problem with dropping brightness on the displayport out. I'm not setting it anywhere. Sometimes when coming out of sleep (windows 7 x64 Pro) it just won't send video. I can swap the DP cable to another monitor and the problem is the same. A hard reboot solves it, leading me to think it's definitely something WRT the sleep/video configuration. I've had it running in Maximum Performance power mode with no OS sleep settings, just 'turn off the monitor after 6 minutes'. The video driver version is: 20.19.15.4474 This is a somewhat recent problem, as it hasn't always done this. Anyone run into a similar situation? And found an actual fix/solution? Not just guesses, please.

Different Intel chipset implies a different motherboard.   Providing processor, memory, storage is the same speed, I would suspect that the performance is the same or similar.

Hi,

I just bought the M910X tiny desktop and 2 identical Lenovo ThinkCentre monitors. I installed the desktop into one of the monitors, which works fine. How do I connect the second monitor to the PC? It seems like the DisplayPort showing on the back of the monitor is only for plugging a separate device into the screen, not video out to a second monitor from the PC. Is that right?

Sorry if this is a stupid question!

When you say "installed into a monitor", it's a Tiny-in-One monitor?  It would help to know which model.  Pretty sure you would need to connect the 2nd monitor direct to the Tiny itself, is there a way to do that with it installed in the monitor?

Frustrated... someone suggested that I update the BIOS on my newly acquired Tiny M900. I went to the Lenovo support page, downloaded the CD ISO, created a bootable USB, but now what? Do I just drop the ISO into the USB? Does it have to be "burned"? I tried just dropping the ISO into the bootable USB but upon reboot, my machine just went straight into Windows. I looked around in the BIOS but did not see anything (that an end user with my limited techno geek knowledge) indicated there was any issue with the boot order. Also, I'm concerned because according to the BIOS screen, my machine's current BIOS version is FTWC21a, but it looks like all the BIOS versions listed in the READ ME file start with FWKT?! Can anyone just provide clear instructions on how to create the bootable USB flash drive and update the BIOS? Thank you in advance!

Correction: The BIOS screens says the BIOS version is FTWC21A, but I see in the Lenovo Companion application that it's showing as FWKT38A. According to the READ ME file, there are 2 BIOS updates since this version.

I would download fresh copies of the audio and video drivers from the Lenovo support page, uninstall and delete (the possibly corrupt) drivers for both using the Control Panel/Device Manager page. Reboot, and install the new copies.

I am getting somewhat confused (sometimes it doesn't take much) Ok 1st:  From Lenovo's website Memory:TINY FORM FACTOR WITHOUT SACRIFICING PERFORMANCEThe ThinkCentre M900 Tiny is everything that you need in a compact size: durable, manageable, expandable, flexible ? do-able. Tiny form factor with the latest in Intel Core? processors and up to 16 GB of memory with two drive bays offer the performance and expandability you need. Here it seems to indicate 16gb of memory which seems to be what is offered under customize However here: Tiny but Flexible The ThinkCentre M900 Tiny fits just about anywhere, but is still flexible, offering one 2.5? bay or one M.2 slot for your choice of storage, and up to 16 GB of memory with expansion slots for up to 32 GB. The latest It seems to be indicating 32 gb of memory does this mean Lenovo only offers up to 16 gb but you can put in 32 if you want to toss the supplied chips, It wouldn't be to bad if they offered the 16gb as 1 chip with the other one free but it seems the only option is 2x8, this seems kind of wasteful if you think at some time in the future you may want to upgrade to 32 GB Is it possible to special order with 1 16gb chip and 1 open socket? 2nd: Drive bays The 1st clip from the website above says 2 drive bays The 2nd clip says 1 bay either a HD or SSD but not both Which is it ? From a youtube video of someone taking one apart it didn't really look like... Hello all,up to quite recently, I had been running Debian Stretch (4.4 kernel) on an Intel NUC NUC5I7RYH using two SSDs (Samsung 850 Pro and a Samsung 951) in RAID 0 array with no problems.Having used IBM/Lenovo equipment for decades, I decided to purchase a Lenovo M900 Tiny as I was impressed with the specifications and the physical size of the thing. One dark night, I decided to transfer my RAID 0 array from the NUC (see above) to the M900 (physically remove the SSDs from the NUC and insert them into the M900). Lo and behold, my Debian came up on the M900 with no problems, DMESG reported nothing untowards etc. This setup had been running for a week or so until with hindsight, I unwisely decided to upgrade the M900 BIOS. The original factory BIOS had a release date of December 2015 as far as I can remember. The new BIOS is FWKT38A and was released on 10.02.2016. Needless to say, after this upgrade, that was the end of my RAID 0 and my Debian. I have since reinstalled Debian on the M900, using the two abovementioned SSDs in a RAID 0 array - everything completes as it should, at this stage I would expect to have a bootable system - but no. On boot, no diagnostics, error messages, just a "black screen".I have run all of the Lenovo diagnostics on all hardware components (including the SSDs) with no error messages returned. If I install Debian using just one of the SSDs (Samsung 850 Pro), things work, i.e. the system comes up (boots).I am at a loss here as to why things are not wor... Welcome to the Community Forums.

As per system overview :
IO port: Memory card slot (SD/SDHC/SDXC/MMC)

Platform specification:
One microSD Card slot, supports up to 2TB

Usually there would be stickers on the box or laptop to indicate the format it also supports.
You can try to find/borrow  a spare 32GB SDXC to test first before purchase.

Hi , The OS was initially select "Windows 7 pro downgrade from Windows 10" from delivery. I created the recovery CD/DVDs immediately after I have the machine, then I installed my newly purchased M.2 SSD (SATA), removed the stock HDD, trying to use the external DVD drive with the recovery CD/DVD to recovery the system. The boot was success, and I select the language, click agree, then it shows "Recoevery fail" in window "Product recovery". Trying to do some configuration in BIOS, such as switching the boot option from UEFI first to Legancy first, and vise versa. Hi, Happy New Year to all. Please help resolve the fan noise or rather, fan going full speed even with 0% CPU usage after SSD upgrade. My M900 was configured with i7 CPU, 8 GB RAM and 128 GB stock Samsung SSD. I remembered that when I first opened the box, I was quite impressed by its high quality materials and solid construction. I placed the Tiny in the All-in-one 24 in monitor. The whole combo worked as well as advertised. Everything was going great until the SSD was upgraded to 1TB Crucial MX 300. (Acronis was used to migrate OS from Samsung to Crucial SSD). The new Curcial SSD booted up fine but shortly after logging into the Win 10, the fan started going full speed although the CPU usage was less than 20%. The fan slowed down after a while but whould pick up the speed intermittently.  To resolve the problem, I installed the updated BIOS (FWKT63A) and partitioned the 1 TB SSD drive into two 500 GB drives. It worked well. The fan became quiet! Not to leave good enough alone, I decided to intall a Samsung PCIe NVMe 500 GB (Samsung 960 EVO Series - 500GB PCIe NVMe - M.2 Internal SSD (MZ-V6E500BW)) in the M.2 slot. What a mistake! The fan has been going full blast ever since, even after the Samaung NVMe drive was removed. To be sure, I even replaced the Crucial 1 TB drive with the stock Samsung 128 GB SSD that came with the computer. Still, the fan noise continued to be unrelenting.  I then thought it could be the m... Read more

I suggest a 'clear CMOS', otherwise known as a CMOS reset.   Refer to this thread:  M900x & Tiny: Recover from failed BIOS update (CMOS jumper)   Skip the connect CD step, leave it powered up for 5min with the jumper removed.

Do it with the stock components, and ensure the fan is working normally.   Try the all mods again, if the fan runs at high again, try a clear CMOS with the mods in place, and see if it fixes it.

That card you ordered definitely is not right.

I think this StarTech PCIe card is more what you need.

Supports PCIe M.2 SSDs
The adapter supports PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe (M Key) and PCIe-AHCI M.2 SSDs including 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 drives. The expansion slot adapter supports the most common drive sizes including 110 mm, 80 mm, 60 mm and 42 mm.

Mod:  created a new thread for this problem, as the M900 Tiny uses a different motherboard (to SFF) and has no VGA

Yours are M900 Tiny (vs. SFF above.)   You may have already tried this:   Take a monitor and cable from a working M900, and use that on each of (both) the DP ports on the 20 that have no display.

I have a M900 Tiny with three display ports. This unit will only display to my acer display on the top port. The other two it wont. I took it to work and hooked it up to a 4k monitor and each port worked fine. I tried another long DP cable at home and it didnt work. Is it the cable length of the Display port cable? If so is there a "for sure" workable 15 to 20 foot display port cable out there I can buy. Confused and tired.

Hi ,

The OS was initially select "Windows 7 pro downgrade from Windows 10" from delivery.

Make sure the secure boot has been selected to disabled, change the boot sequence, but none of them works.

I also have a 2.5" SATA SSD, so I install it in 2.5" slot, removed the M.2 one, trying use the receovery disc, it shows "Recovery fail" at exactly the same position.

Just for curious, I removed all the harddisk, and use recovery disc to take a try, it shows the exactly same error message at same step, so I assume the R&R can't find my SSD properly, but my SSD was shown in BIOS as well as the boot sequence menu.

To make sure that my recovery disc is functional, I put back the original stock HDD back, and use disc to boot the system, and it successfully passed the roadblock, so it works!

No I am totally confusing, since the same BIOS option was selected, same procedure has been followed, how comes the R&R disc can only works on the original hard drive?

A:M900 Tiny - Recovery fail after SSD upgrade

After spend more than 50 Man-Hours on this issue, now I finally solved it out. Here is the way I made it: Go get a copy of Acronis True Image 2016, I was using the edition 19.0.6571, use the disk edition to boot the machine, then select the original disk as source disk, use the newly added SSD as destination disk. Click process, then mess around for a while till it shows up "finish". Remove the external disk drive, the original HDD, leave the SSD inside. Start up, and everything you need is there. And, for unknown reason, once you finish all above, then press F11 during system boot, the R&R works perfect. PS.I didn't try the R&R disk at this moment, probably it still won't works. Anyway, thanks to the amazing Acronis True Image, now the issue has been solved. Cheers!
