Hello all, it's been a long while since I've posted here because thankfully I've been (mostly) problem-free for the last few years. Much thanks to those who assisted me back then.

Lately though, I've been having an issue I would describe as "consistently annoying" or "annoyingly consistent". This is a Dell laptop and every once in a while (feels like every two weeks roughly), I'll wake it from sleep mode and my Google Chrome browser will immediately close out. I will open it again and it will within 10-15 seconds close out again while trying to "restore" my session. Repeated attempts will also close down without fail, but in quicker intervals (sometimes 3-5 seconds).

This has happened three times and each time I didn't know what it was. I tried a quick scan and nothing came up. I checked my add/remove program list and didn't see anything out of the ordinary that might be a culprit. Instead, to resolve the problem I merely did a system restore. All three times I've resorted to this and so far, all three times it has worked, except for the problem eventually coming back within two weeks or so.

Any idea what could be causing this? I'm thinking it must be malware, but I suppose anything is possible. I have not tested any other web browser which I should have done last time but didn't think of it. I would not call this a serious issue, just annoying. Regardless, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Preferred Solution: Something constantly forcing my browser (Chrome) to close?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

hi All,

I am using an old laptop purchased in Jan 2010 with Windows 7 home basic installed on it. It was functioning properly about 2 months back and i then noticed that the browser started taking more time to load. Later the browser started hanging intermittently and now even my usual routine items take time to respond and function (opening folders/playing videos etc)

my antivirus is a legal copy and its up to date. can anyone please help me in digging through the issue? This may be happening because my laptop is just old enough but I dont want to conclude that without enough debugging.

thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

regards,
Vishal

Hi everyone,
I'm quite certain that this is not just happening to me.

I always have some programs open that don't require saving etc. such as Opera browser or M$ Outlook 2007 or even desktop itself.

When opera and outlook or any other program incl. explorer windows are open when I choose to turn the pc off, win7 always asks me if I want to force to close 'the following' programs (including win explorer!) and even before I manage to do anything, the question disappears and the programs are forced to be closed.
Afterwards when I open outlook it tells me that outlook wasn't shut properly and that PST file needs repairing. When I open opera it also tells me it wasn't shut properly and asks me what I want to do next... Icons on desktop are often disorganized...
This is really annoying because at the moment I have to manually close all programs before I shut down the pc.

Today for example my outlook crashed. The profile exactly. Nothing to do with PST file or outlook itself, but profile was corrupted. Everytime I wanted to open outlook it said that the window can't be open.

Anyways, is there a solution for my issue? More timeout or something? My friends also have this issue.

A:Win7 shutting down issue - forcing programs to close

Hello zYx.

It would be better for Windows and other programs and applications to close everything before you shutdown Windows 7, as you can see it causes many problems and may eventually disable the OS.

Have a look at the tutorial at the link below; be sure to post back to keep us informed.

I am working on a computer which had the PC defender virus. I cleaned the machine using MalwareBytes twice, and scanned using Avast! in a boot-time scan to try to knock out the rest. MalwareBytes seems to find and clean the same three infections and then the system pops up a Data Execution Prevention on Generic Host Process for win32 and then an alert about AXWIN Frame Window: svchost.exe pops up. Close those, and the system does a NT/Authority reboot message with 45 seconds to save your work. Avast! said it cleaned 147 files, but these popups remain.

Also, Internet Explorer is being redirected when I try to search resolutions on that computer, so I downloaded Firefox. After the next reboot, it now redirects all of my requests.

I know it is viral activity, but I am afraid to go any further without consulting the experts. Any assistance you can give me will be much appreciated.

Hi,

I have a Hewlett Packard Vectra desktop pc
Pentium 3, 930 Mhz, 128MB ram
Windows XP home edition upgrade
This is a very strange problem, it may have to do with my registry.
After running a registry scan and fixing errors, I noticed that all
my software programs that display any kind of html, such as
Outlook Express, my html editor, my keyword research tool, and
my webpage design software, will no longer display, but instead,
a windows screen pops up prompting me to either open the file
in my browser or save it, thus, rendering my software programs
useless. I have no idea how to fix this and I don't have the technical
knowledge for this type of problem. If need be, I will reformat
the hard drive and just start over, but would rather fix the problem.
I scanned the registry twice (mistake), so I don't think I can go back to the way it was.

Any ideas? Thanks.

Hi, I have an Asus M51Sn running Vista 32bit and have had this problem for a long time. As soon as I boot up the fan runs almost constantly and the area right of the mouse-pad gets warm to the point that it becomes uncomfortable when working. I sent it back to ASUS last year and I`m convinced they did not nothing with it as it's still the same. It was gone for a month so I'm not going down that road again plus it's out of warranty now.
I did a complete system restore to get rid of adware and speed up my system but this hasn't resolved the overheating issue. As I type this with just Chrome open my CPU usage is below 5%. I have swiched off all start up programs so there is nothing running in the background and it gets hot within a few minutes of startup regardless of what programs are running - I don't game or use heavy programs. I keep the laptop on a flat wooden surface normally and the underside temperature is not a problem. I'm out of ideas! Please, no solutions about wet towels and I know about the coolers but they don't fix the problem.

When I close Chrome it stays in memory. How do I make it close completely? IE and FF close when you close them. I don't need Google snooping in my computer while it's software is hidden in the background.

I went into advanced settings and the only box that seems to indicate it would close Chrome completely when unchecked is not check and yet Chrome persists in my task manager.

When I close chrome.exe, I get this error:

Force browser processes to close
If a tab, window, or extension is not working properly, you can use the task manager in either Chrome or Windows to force it to close. Chrome uses a "multiple processes architecture", which means its processes are designed to work independent of one another. So issues in one tab shouldn’t affect the performance of other tabs or the overall responsiveness of the browser.

In many ways, the task manager is like a hospital monitor: you can use it to track the performance of its internal processes. If the browser seems to be sluggish, open the task manager to find details about each active process and close the one that seems to be using up a lot of resources.

Using Chrome’s task manager

Follow these steps to open the task manager:

Click the Chrome menu on the browser toolbar.
Select Tools.

I recently installed Chrome for the use of Google cloud print system on my phone.

I am running Windows XP with service pack 3 and Google Chrome ver. 46.0.2490.80. Say I have clicked on the Chrome icon on my desktop 3 times to search the internet and then decide to shutdown windows. A box pops up stating end program...chrome.exe, the program is not responding, etc. If I click end now, the box disappears, followed a second or two later by another pop up box with the same message. If I click on end now 3 times (or however many times I clicked on the Chrome icon on my desktop) windows will shutdown. This is a pain in the neck if I have accessed Chrome many times before shutting down Windows. I have deleted and reinstalled Chrome, but the problem remains. How can I get this to stop?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Okay so this has happened several times now and I can't find an solution, I just got finished installking several extensions and changed some settings to Google Chrome, but when I close it, it like resets the browser to default every time and none of them are saved? This is the only web browser this is happening on and its strange, anyone got an solution?

Browser crashing

Check the above thread. Not exactly the same problem, but similar.

Try to reinstall Chrome with the latest stable version. Many have problems with Chrome automatically updating. More simple sometimes just to uninstall and reinstall. You are still able to save your Favs and Extensions, etc.

Hey everyone. I have a problem with Google Chrome. I am running the latest version of Google Chrome, by the way. Anyway, I have tried several different sharing extensions for Chrome and I have the same problem with each one. These sharing extensions are designed to open a window so I can share a website with Facebook. Once I share the website with Facebook, the window is supposed to automatically close. However, the window fails to automatically close and then I have to manually close the window. Does anyone know of a way to fix this?

I am running Vista 64bit on and HP-DV9700T laptop.

There are 2 processes running on my machine that I cannot "End". More specifically, there are 2 instances of a file named "Ywplubzaeb.exe" running simultanously as shown in the attached screen capture of Windows Task Manager. These processes are identified as Google Chrome and the executable and other associated files are located at C:\Users\jmruperto\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\robuyfpfvyr\Dbfjjbhb\Ywplubzaeb.exe.

When I select 'End Process" from the Task Manager, the process ends momentarily then starts right back up. I removed Google Chrome completely using the Control Panel / Programs and Features, however this does not remove the Subject executable. I tried to delete the file, but I get an "Access Denied/ Need Permission" message. I tried internet searches for all of the various folder names and the Subject file as shown in the path above, but I get no hits for any of these. I am running Norton IS 2014 and scanned the system for virus' etc. but also no indication of a problem with this particular executable.

I have 4GB RAM and these processses use only about 65MB of ram, however recently I have noticed some unusual behavior of the system when I searching the internet (animated spinning blue circle indicating that the computer is busy with running a process in the background). Upon checking the Task manager I found these processes.

Does anyone know what this process is and how I can re... Read more

That is not a valid process but more than likely a virus. I suggest that you scan your computer with your antivirus scanner and run malwarebytes. https://www.malwarebytes.org/

So the tabs not loading part has been going on for some time now, but I've been living with it. When I type in a URL or search for something through address bar there's a 20%-25% chance that it will sit there with the spinning circle, but not do anything. The only way to fix it is to close the tab and open a new on and try again.

Well recently I've been getting the message that the tab had stopped responding so I decided to reinstall Chrome. Now after the new install Chrome will crash every single time it's opened. I've even tried a portable version of Chrome via PortableApps.com. This can only mean that there's something wrong with the OS right?

Hello everyone.
Since I have gotten a new computer, with Windows 8 64x, when problems come up, I don't know how to fix them.
Being a constant user of Chrome, I had gotten accustomed to using the browser, and for the first two days, it worked fine. After that, the computer randomly reboots, often when I'm on Chrome. Running the Windows Debugger, I decided to have a snoop at the Dump file. Apart from complaining about kernels, and wrong resolution, it had come to the conclusion that the file: mcupdate_AuthenticAMD.dll was the potential culprit. The recommended tool in the stickied post has had complaints from IE, so I'd rather not download it at such a state.

From what I've researched, it is a normal file, probably coming from the online AMD Catalyst drivers, though I don't know if it has come from the CD. I had used it in vain, to try to install initial drivers, and after the motherboard's drivers failing, the AMD ones actually worked, to my surprise.

There is no BSOD when it restarts, just a sudden black screen, no input, then back to boot. I would really appreciate any help.

This is the computer I am using. Apologies for the lack of information on their website, and being unable to check myself, I'm afraid to look inside, for it may void the warranty.

Thanks,
Josh

I have IE6 and WinXP. My screen resolution is 1600x1200. When I have two Windows of IE open and filling the screen (i.e., two 800x1200 Windows), web pages do not "fit" inside of the Windows. This just recently started happening. Before, when I loaded a web page it would automatically fit itself into the open browser window, now I have to scroll to the right to see the entire web page. Is there anyway to "force" IE to fit the web page to the browser window?

Thanks!

I got infected some time ago with some kind of root kit not sure which but it was one of those that says your system is infected even thought it's not and tells you to run it's software. I ran Spyobot, Anti Malware and Mcafee amongst others, never got rid of it, it was also hiding desktop icons and programs as well and and I ran Unhide to get them back, anyhow now after running all the anti virus and anti malware programs, I still have problems, both Sea Monkey and Chrome will stop surfing, when I close them the process continues to run in Task Manager and will not close no matter what I do.

Hi,

Since three days both internet browsers installed on my PC won't start (IE and Chrome). Or rather close immediately after I start them. (I am entering this thread from my office PC)
I didn't install any programs in between when they worked and stopped working (did copy files from a CD-ROM).

Some things I tried:
- logging in as my wife (we have got two users installed) - same problem
- clearing the user settings of Chrome (i.e. deleting the folder). After doing this the browser works for about 30 secs. and then the same problem occurs (either using it to browse or not using it gives the same result)
- scanned the PC for viruses (Windows anti-virus) and malware (Spybot) ? nothing found
- start IE with extensions off
- I also installed HijackThis. Couldn?t find anything that looked fishy, but did not have an expert look at it
- Using either WLAN or LAN doesn?t make a difference (tried it just in case ? never know ?)

Both programs are the latest version.

Any ideas?

Best regards,
Roy

A:Internet browsers (IE & Chrome) close immediately after opening ???

Hi,

Tried some more:
- de-installed Google Chrome
- de-installed Java
- de-installed IE Google toobar add-in
Didn't work yet
- run a registry cleaner

After restart IE works again. Typing this message from there.

Seems problem is solved although I have no idea what caused it. Didn't like Chrome anyway though because it crashed on me several times a day. Installed it because IE was becoming very slow. But that's another story.

So for now: problem solved.

Roy

In my volume mixer there are two Google Chrome levels shown. One is always there, whether I have chrome open or not, and it always shows that it is playing sound. When I click to unmute it, it will automatically mute itself again but I will hear music or an ad playing for a brief moment before it mutes.

What is this? How do I make it stop? I just noticed this today, but I also have noticed that since yesterday chrome has been triggering my Norton's "high cpu usage" warning.

Here is a puush of the two sound levels.

The one on the left is the actual browser. The one on the right is always there and doesn't go away even when I close the browser.

EDIT: Also, Norton keeps popping up with two files saying they are safe: libEGL.dll and libGLESv2.dll
What are these? Why does my computer keep redownloading them?

Please forgive me that I do not understand a lot about these types of things!  I have been reading other posts with similar situations, but do not understand what I read -as I don't know what a log is or even understand some of the steps.  If you can, please speak in "Crayola" for me!  I was able to follow the directions I found for creating the DDS and attach files (thanks to through instructions even though I don't know what they are!).   So here's my problem.

My computer (Dell -Windows 7 Home Premium -64 bit) started running really slow suddenly.  I opened up the task manager and saw that there were 12 instances of the same thing running -the image name was: vlvfbmxlyv.exe *32  - The description said:  Google Chrome.  The memory column for all of these said anywhere between 25,000 and 140,000.  I had Google Chrome installed, but we never use it (I use mostly IE 11.0 and sometimes Firefox as required by my son's homeschool).  I tried closing the processes and after a couple of them, more would generate so it was impossible.  I knew enough to know this sounds like a virus. I typed in the image name in a search but not a thing came up. I went and uninstalled Google Chrome (just in case it was something else) -restarted the computer and checked, but they were still there.  I ran a full scan with Microsoft Security Essentials (my only virus protection as it has worked for ...
