I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Brand new laptop running windows 8.1 Touchpad works for about 30 seconds after windows boots up then stops. Tried downloading latest drivers from Toshiba site but it didn't fix the problem. Tried the touchpad function keys but that is not the issue. Called Toshiba support and they suggested sending it in for a factory reset.

I also have a problem with AMD graphics going split screen after computer goes into a sleep state. Downloaded and installed latest drivers for this on advice of Tech support but not fixed either.

I'm a bit concerned as a search shows both these problems not uncommon and iv'e spent a lot of time copying over data and installing software, don't want to lose it and lose time waiting for factory reset if I have to send ot back.

Anyone have any ideas?

Factory reset is best way to fix this but have you upgraded your machine following step-by-step instructions from http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/generic/windows8_1-message/ ?

Since updating op system to Win 8.1, I am not able to get into the Nvidea control panel. I get a message that no displays are connected. I have got the Nvidea card as my primary source for the monitor.

Help appreciated.

A:Since Win8.1 update NVIDIA control panel is not working

I guess you read the step by step instruction how to update the system from Win 8 to Win 8.1
Did you? Did you follow such instruction?

Did you update and install the essential nVidia driver for Win 8.1 which is available on Toshiba driver website?
If not, do that!

Hi there,
Prior to the 8.1 update I was able to run java fine on the desktop IE10.  For work this is essential, as I access dropbox to upload files, etc.  I'd much rather keep using IE, however since 8.1 I get an alert that some of my add-ons are not compatible
with the new enhanced security features, etc.
I turned off "Enhanced Protected Mode", toggled various settings, uninstalled/reinstalled latest java, etc.  Still nothing working.  I'd rather not get a new browser as I love IE... any solutions?
I'm running a 64bit OS & processor, high-end machine.
Many, many thanks!

Hi, I'm working on this annoying problem with n077so and with it's touchpad.First of all I had a problem with touchpad and with usb-ports.Touchpad didn't work and mouse attached to usb-port didn't work either. USB-ports did recognize mouse and  usb-memorysticks from all ports, but still mouse wouldn't work in windows.I removed all touchpad drivers and usb-drivers, but windows automaticly installed them back while re-booting. So I couldn't install any older drivers, which I knew would work. Windows10 home edition notified me about touchpad and PS/2 devices that there were some conflicts and remove other to get touchpad to work. I guess the keyboard and touchpad ps/2 drivers were in conflict. And I did some diagnostics in UEFI enviroment and mouse did work there, couldn't test touchpad there. After awhile I tired of unistalling and reinstalling touchpad drivers and reverted the windows10 to it's default settings. After resetting windows, I managed to get USB-ports to work and keyboard.THen I downloaded the latest touchpad drivers from HP supports site and installed them to get the touchpad to work. After installation both keyboard and touchpad stopped working. And now even if I have uninstalled the drivers. Windows keeps reinstalling the touchpad and this fails to keyboard from working and touchpad doesn't work either. There's something wrong with toucpad drivers which keeps screwing both keyboard and touchpad. I'm resetting win... A few days ago I formatted a drive and installed Win 8.1. Also installed all the drivers. Yesterday, when closing it downloaded some updates which it installed today. Now neither keyboard nor touchpad works. I connected a wireless keyboard but it won?t work either. Wired mouse does work.

Tried to uninstall those devices and run it again, but in vain. I don?t want to use system recovery, cause I have installed some software already and wouldn?t really enjoy going through this again.

In device manager, I can see my keyboard with a following error:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)

Highlighted mouse shows:

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Any idea how to solve this problem?
Cheers

P.S. Almost forgot, i'm using notebook Acer V3-571G

Since upgrading my HP laptop to Windows 10 my touchpad has completely stopped working. I currently use a USB mouse but this isnt a solution.  First of all, when I unplug my USB mouse the pointer disappears completely. If I go into device manager in the 'mouse and other poiinting devices' section there doesnt seem to be an option for a touchpad. I have installed the most up to date drivers for the touch pad off your website countless times. I have tried reinstalling Windows 3 times and nothing has changed. I have had an on going conversation with Windows support for about 5 months and nothing has been resolved. I am incredibly disappointed with both HP and Windows for the lack of support and solutions to an update which was supposed to impove my computer experience. Here is the link to my conversation with Windows regarding this matter. I'm attaching it for reference so you can read it and perhaps suggest alternative options which haven't already been suggested to me. http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_10-hardware/trackpad-no-longer-working-does...

Hello Everyone! So here's the situation. I updated my m6-1045dx to Windows 8 Fresh Install. Among those that I applied was sp58572.exe found here which I will refer to as "patch". However, for some reason, the updater quit and now, my touchpad DOES NOT WORK. I think it's a firmware issue in the sense that I've already reinstalled Windows 8 TWICE and yet it still does not work. I think what needs to be done is to update the driver correctly and then use the patch to correct the firmware. The problem is that I tried restarting, shutting down multiple times, reinstalling the driver (both the one provided by HP for my model and the one on the synaptics website) to no avail.Everytime, I try to run the patch, I only get the error message "A synaptics pointing device driver is required for reflasing. Please install a synaptics driver version 15.1.6.0 or newer".The problem is that it doesn't work EVEN if I install a newer device driver. Any help you can give will be much appreciated. Thank you.

Hello. I upgraded my laptop Toshiba satellite S50D B100 to Windows 10. And everything is perfect the only problem I've had since I updated the touchpad is not working at all or to the left or right click. My ELAN touchpad is smart pad 15.8.3.2_X64_WHQL version. I searched all over the internet and can not find a solution valid. From what I understand the problem is to update this driver. I went to the ELAN own page and can not find the update, but it says I have to go to the computer manufacturer. I went to the page and neither toshiba meeting and nose to do this and the truth esque driving me crazy because I can not use my laptop and I need it urgently. I appreciate a prompt solution. Thank you.

A:Satellite S50D-B - TouchPad is not working after update to Windows 10

Hello

after two full days looking for a solution to this problem validates I found in a Microsoft forum page to download the driver and achieve ELAN touchpad solve the problem or I think because so far not returned to give me problems.

What I did was this link between this

http://support.toshiba.com/drivers locate the driver called ELAN touchpad was published on 07.08.2015. After my toshiba I went to settings, devices, mouse and touchpad, extra mouse options, Hardware, properties, General, change settings, controller and revert to the previous driver, restart the PC and then install the driver to download toshiba page back to restart the PC.

But I discovered that the update had launched ELAN Microsfot not go away so I went back to reverse the upgrade I had done with the downloaded driver, restart and install Microsoft had released early and then went back to restart the PC.

At the end the whole process I did not need to reinstall the driver unloaded and everything works perfectly so far.

I hope you like because I really suffered much to find an effective solution and that I did not lose the functions of the touchpad.

A greeting.

Hi,

Just bought a Satellite S50D-B last week. Comfortable with technology. Updated to Windows 10 (3rd machine I have done this on). New laptop is the only one giving problems. Tried enabling in the Settings - seems Win 10 auto disables the device which is strange. Indeed this (kinda) works except for the left and right buttons. Tried reinstalling Elan software but no change. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Hello,

I recently received an update to my ASUS Vivobook laptop which was running windows 10, quite flawlessly I might add. After the update, my touch pad stopped accepting multi-touch and my USB ports stopped recognizing any devices including my mouse. It would not even give a "device not recognized" notification. It just is not detecting the devices.

I first tried to fix my touch-pad by unistalling the SmartGesture driver and reinstalling. Nothing changed. The touchpad only accepts one finger operations so it does not allow for two finger scrolling etc. I read a post that said you don't need SmartGesture because Win10 comes with its own drivers to allow the touch-pad to do those multi-touch things but its still not working.

I tried to fix the USB ports by first changing the power management to not turn off the ports in power saving mode. Didn't work. Then I tried reinstalling the drivers using the Device Manager. Didn't work. Then I tried to uninstall all the USB drivers within Device Manager and restart my laptop and let it reinstall itself. Didn't work. The ports are not faulty because they were all working before the update and I know that my mouse is working and that all the cords and flash drives I plug in are working because I tested them on another PC.

I need help.

And do you have any system restore points that might be useful?
Or a Win 10 System Image?
Or disk images?

Howver, I can share my road to success:

In Win 8.1 - uninstall the ELAN package. The touchpad will continue to work, at least basic pointer-move and click.
Upgrade to Win10
In Win 10, reinstall the Win 8.1 ELAN driver.

That worked for me.

Just got a brand new laptop, Dell Inspiron 11 3137, and updated to windows 8.1. The touchpad does not work properly now; gestures/scrolling/pointer not working. I've spent over 16 hours getting windows 8.1 installed and then troubleshooting this issue. I've contacted Dell; updated the driver from Dell, even tried installing the latest driver from Synaptic. I even tried setting the Synaptic app to run under the windows 8 version.

Hi,
SO, You're having problems with 8.1 and the Synaptics Dell Touchpad!? I wish I could say I've never seen this before. I won't open up with "Have you tried this?" Instead, I'm confident this will "fix what ails ya"  There have been a wealth of problems with touchpads (Alps included) and not just on Dell systems, during the transition from windows 8 to 8.1 (I still can't figure out why they didn't just call it SP1) IN ANY EVENT> give this a go and please get back to me after you've done it so I can share with others who are experiencing the same problem. I'll explain WHY these steps at the end...Go ahead peek ...I won't tell anyone!
Locate the current driver for your touchpad from  Dell Support by entering your service tag number here:
http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriversHome/ShowProductSelector?fkey=Drivers_PS
SAVE the download to somewhere convenient like your desktop (you can put it somewhere else later)
1) From the control panel under Programs / Uninstall a Program locate the Synaptics Pointing Device Driver and completely uninstall the software.  but DO NOT RESTART if prompted. Instead select the restart later option.
2) From the control panel under Hardware and Sound locate the Device Manager in the Devices and Printers category and click on it (device manager may require admin permission.)

Hi,

This 64GB internal card was working fine on win8.0 Acer v5, laptop.

Tried four different SD cards, win8.1 could not see any.
I have checked with SFC and DISM no problems.
Hardware Diagnostic tool does not find the SD.
Updated drivers from Acer. No help.
Have Auto Play set to use for everything.
Tried 8GB and 32GB SD cards, nothing.
If I plug the SD cards into a USB adapter they all work fine.

This sucks big time as the SD is my daily back up drive.

Any help?

Thanks

A:SD Card Gone after win8.0 update to win8.1

OK, problem solved. Win8.1 kept seeing the SD card slot and installing the "Standard SD card slot drivers.

Acer's Support for this model V5 showed the card reader as an Alcom or something close to that and I was pretty sure that was wrong. I reinstalled an older backup image of win8 and Device manager showed the SD card reader as Broadcom SD SCSI drivers.

I reinstated the win8.1 in place of the win8 backup and then I went back to the Acer V5 models then looked through until I found a card reader that had Broadcom drivers. Downloaded that and installed and all is well with the world again.

Who was at fault? Beats me, but the card reader is obviously telling win8.1 that it is just a vanilla slot. Acer got it wrong for not listing a Broadcom card reader driver with this model. On many of their models they list two or three different drivers, but for mine there was only one and it was the wrong one for what was actually in the laptop.

The original win8.0 worked fine as the Broadcom drives were installed at the Acer factory.

I have seen reports of people able to install drivers that allow you to use the touchpad on your laptop to function like the gestures that are part of WIN8. I have an older Dell Studio 1555, and the synaptic drivers I have installed do not do this.

Weird thing is, that the synaptic web page displays information about this, but provides no download link
http://www.synaptics.com/solutions/technology/windows8/

This is not something I can't live without, more a curiosity to see what it would be like using the gestures on a non-touch screen device.

I have done some internet searches, but have not yet found an answer, or a solution for this Dell.

Thanks for any help.

A:how to get WIN8 gestures to work on laptop touchpad

The drivers/software are located under the Resources tab on the Synaptics website, here's the link: http://www.synaptics.com/resources/drivers
Those features should be part of the driver/software now but they only work on certain Synaptics Touchpads.

Hello, I tried to upgrade to windows 8 and found that the touchpad became super sensitive and jumpy. Reading online I found a firmware that claimed to fix the issue and found it on HPs Support site. Mid install, it reported that it failed and forced a reboot on the laptop. When it was back up and running I found that the touchpad no longer worked. Its exactly the same issue as in these links: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Touchpad-Not-Working-After-Faile... http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Touchpad-Firmware-Failed/td-p/23... I've tried to reflash and to get new drivers but they are not able to go through. The drivers install but don't fix anything. The flashing will quit saying I need drivers first even though I have them.  I've even reformated and put the factory windows 7 image back on but it still will not work. The solutions posted in the above links didnt work for me.  Does anyone have any idea on how I can fix this?

"One drive shows script err" and can't even go to Store to down load it say "Your PC isn't connect to internet..."  but my internet access and all the program is working just slow. Now what can I do? Go back to old Bios version? How? or you have any suggestion to upgrade to windows 8.1 or windows 10?Any help would be much appreciated. Stanley

Trying to download these updates. Have left computer on for hours to allow them to complete. It never does. Now I read in another post don't update for updating's sake. If that is the case, how can i tell the HP Support assistant (down in the right hand corner) to ignore these?

As you can see there are multiple problems that have come up in this notebook. I recently reinstalled windows 10 to solve some other problems. The installation went perfect and afterward everything seemed to work fine. When my wife turned it on the blue BIOS screen came on (as it did before the installation) and I was unable to use the touchpad, mouse or arrow keys to move the selection. I rebooted and it started up fine only the keyboard did not work. I had to use the onscreen keyboard to log in. Once inside, sometimes the keyboard works and sometimes it doesn't. I've tried using the f6 to toggle the touchpad on but it didn't work. The keyboard is touch and go and now the blue screen BIOS sometimes comes up when the computer is started. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I've searched for solutions and haven't been able to find anything that works to solve these problems. I've uninstalled the drivers and rebooted for a fresh re-install of the drivers but that only temporarily fixes the problem. Thank you.

Hello,
I'm using win8. When I'm trying to update my Qualcomm Atheros AR9287 driver, it just tells me that the newest driver is already installed, which is not true. I downloaded and unpacked the driver, but even if I navigate there, win8 will not recognize that driver and just tell me that the newest is installed, effectivly blocking any driver update.

I tried to delete the old drivers manually from system32, but he still won't recognize the new one. If I deinstall the drivers via manager, the whole adapter disappears; when checking for changed hardware, he will reappear and instantly reinstall the old driver, even if it has been deleted from system32 (no idea where he gets the old file from). I'm not at all a pro, and also new here. Any constructive feedback to the problem is welcome. If this post is wrong here, could someone push it where it belongs or tell me to move it please?

Thanks for your time.

A:Win8 won't let me update drivers

I never use the device manager to update drivers, I go directly to the vendors website and download drivers from there.
Where did you download the new driver from? If you could list your system specs via your profile page, that would be a big help.

I have a fake registered Win8. can I actually use the "Click to get win 8.1" button at the top right of MUSIC window to get the update without register problems? or it finds out that my windows is not original and doesn't let me do it?

A:Win8 Update LOOP HELP!

i think you have downloaded and installed incomplete or corrupted updates and softwares because of shutting down the pc while it is being installed.
can you get it to the startup repair screen.
try the system restore option.
