Acer Aspire 6930G Stereo Mix Disappeared After Realtek Audio Chip Error

Q: Acer Aspire 6930G Stereo Mix Disappeared After Realtek Audio Chip Error

Hi folks!

I had an error reading "Notification tool for Realtek Audio Chip has stopped working". I looked on Google for this error and Yahoo Answers came up with this: Acer. Notification tool for RealTek audio chip has stopped working. After nvidia driver update help? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

Jeezers replies with "device manager > sound video, game controller > uninstall realtek > restart your comp and let windows reload the drivers"

I followed these instructions, but it appears to have killed my stereo mix function. Does anyone know how I could get it back please? I have hunted for it all through my system but just can't find it anymore! I also have all devices shown, hidden and unused ones alike.

Many thanks!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi !
Problems with bsod in the last 2-3 days.
Anyone can help?thank you

A:bsod acer aspire 6930g

Looks pretty straightforward: your network adapter. I suggest removing the drivers in Device Manager, and installing a fresh copy.

If you can find an updated version on the computer manufacturer's site, use it.

Sometimes when i "wake" my computer from hibernation(I think thats what it is called in english) I get a bluescreen saying Driver_power_state_failure and I have to restart my computer. Is there a way to solve this?
I?m attaching the TSF_Vista_Support zip file which I have generated. It?s in Swedish but I hope you will understand.

Your Xtreme N Gigabit Router doesn't have drivers installed (?I didn't even think that they needed drivers - and don't have one on mine?) Are you having any troubles with yours?

The BSOD's point to NETw5s32.sys - a component of your Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN adaptor. Please do the following:
- download the latest Win7 driver for your Intel wireless device from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Default.aspx
- uninstall the current wireless drivers from your system using Control Panel...Programs...Uninstall a program
- install the freshly downloaded drivers
- wait for another BSOD

Also, Please update or remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager. Please use the following instructions to locate the most current drivers:

How To Find Updated Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

- some driver links are on this page: http://www.carrona.org/drvrdown.html

Here's the older drivers:

My son has an Acer Aspire 6930g running on xp.
Upto a couple of weeks ago he was happily running his blu rays using cyberlink 10 powerdvd when he announce that they no longer played. No disc found. Normal Dvds continue to run ok.
I have tried uninstalling the programme and reinstalling but that didnt seem to work.
Before i conclude that maybe the blu ray sensor has gone is there anything else i could try (- yes i have also tried cleaning the sensor and blowing away any possible dust) Do get suspicious that it all happens as the promotions for powerdvd13 flood in each time we open powerdvd lol.
Any suggestions welcome    ty for your time

Hi, (first post in any forum so far)

I got this notebook (Acer Aspire 6930G - the version with the dvd-drive) for around 7 years now and I am happy that I chose to buy it.
For about a year ago it started shutting down, when putting it under some workingload (games). I found out pretty quickly that the reason was due to heat. So I simply opened it (since the warranty already expired) and cleaned it up and the problem was solved.
A few weeks later however the problem started again. To my surprise however it seemed to shut down without any reason. The only connection I was able to detect was the fact that it only happens while playing games.
But I did not care about my laptop anymore, because I saved up enouth money to build myself a desktop.
Long story short. I need it again to play some games
The Laptops hardware is pretty much the same. I only added a SSD in the second HDD-slot and installed Windows 10 on it.
Now what I actually want to ask:
I am pretty sure, that this problem is caused by my nVidia Geforce 9600m GT.

I have a Gigabyte GA-EP45T-UD3LR with realtek ALC888 audio and current driver of I can only get 2.1 through my optical out with the exception of dvd's or the test under sound / properties / supported formats and the test in media center. I think the problem is under playback devices for the realtek digital output the configure button is grayed out so I cannot change the speaker arrangement. I have tried numerous drivers with no luck installed and uninstalled the realtek hd audio manager and or run without it and no change. Windows media or VLC both give me the same result, 2.1 on any video and 5.1 off of dvd's. Anybody got any help or ideas?

I have a Realtek HDA ALC883 audio chip.

I have looked at many posts, and saw that many people with Realtek cards have no 5.1 audio on Windows Vista and 7.

- My Headphones port is also my SPDIF port
- I have internal speakers that switch off whenever something goes into the port
- When I plug in Optical or Headphones, it says Analog Headphones, which is weird because I plugged in Optical and expect Digital..
- Digital is a black circle in my Realtek CPL
- I have no speaker fill option

Any assistance?

A:Realtek - No audio above Stereo 2.0 on Windows 7

Here's a post from Vistax64, it might be of assistance:

I had a whole reply typed out but it seems to have disappeared, strange, anyways I'll try and recall what I said. To get 5.1 sound over spdif (Dolby Digital / DTS) you need to enable exclusive mode on your sound card. Outputting 5.1 sound requires exclusive access for the application outputting the sound. Any other application that tries to produce sound while another application is in exlcusive mode will be denied. 5.1 audio cannot be mixed, it 1 stream only. So to get 5.1 sound you will need something like ac3filter to do the passthrough. PCM audio is 2 channel and can be mixed which is why you only see the stereo option in control panel from your screen shot. Also when you use spdif passthrough (5.1) you will not be able to control the volume through your PC, the receiver will have to do that.

If the content you are playing is only 2 channel you are better off setting your receiver to virtual surround (every receiver calls it something different) and have it simulate 5.1

Hello and thank you,

I have an Asus M4A89GTD Pro mobo, winch has on-board "Realtek ALC 892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC". This is a brand new build.

I'm using a TOSLINK optical cable to connect it to a Samsung HT-TX72 receiver, set up w/ 5.1.

I've downloaded, installed and re-installed the latest Realtek driver -10/18/2011, ver.

When I open the Realtek manager, there are only two tabs: "Digital Output(Optical)" and "Digital Output" - see snip below. Thats all. Every tutorial shows 4 tabs, including "Speakers" - see snip below.

I've spent many hours searching for a solution to a problem no one else seems to have, so perhaps I'm missing something so very basic .

fwiw, I have downloaded the audio driver from ASUS as well, but it links to the same Realtek driver.

Can it be that 5.1 is not available somehow w/ S/PDIF? Seems unlikely.

Please help!

Mobo audio specs from ASUS:

-ALC 892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC
- BD Audio Layer Content Protection
- Support 192khz/24bit True BD Lossless Sound
- DTS Surround Sensation UltraPC
- Supports Jack-Detection, Multi-Streaming, and Front Panel Jack-Retasking
- Optical S/PDIF Out ports at back I/O
- ASUS Noise Filter

Additionally, I also cleaned remaining driver installation entries of the Realtek audio driver, but that hasn't solved the issue either. If, and only if this is possible, please provide me with a step by step guide. Many thanks in advance. Best regardsJ. I just realized that stereo output is inverted (L&R are swapped) on my Realtek front panel headphones connector and on my M-Audio Firewire card. Output is OK on Realtek rear main/front speakers connector.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

A:Stereo Audio Output Inverted on Realtek Front Panel and Firewire Card

The front panel Headphone switch could just be a wiring error in the front panel, since it is correct at the rear panel. Or the cable that connects the front panel to the motherboard has a wiring error (assuming the connector is properly connected). Many cases have two audio connectors for the front panel, HD Audio and AC97 audio. The HD Audio is the preferred, if you are not using that, connect it and see if that helps. If you have HD Audio connected, and you have AC97, use that.

The MAudio device is a separate issue. I have a Sonar X2 recording studio and have an MAudio Fastrack Ultra 8R interface unit (and a Roland Octa-Capture). I used to have a firewire unit, a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 and any channel swapping was done in the DAW program (e.g. Sonar).

Hey all, I'm in desperate need of some help.

I want to record vocals onto my laptop, and went out and bought a JTS NX-7s mic the other day from a well known music shop, local to me. The guy was really nice, and suggested that the above-mentioned mic was most suitable. I'm a complete novice to be fair, and he kept everything simple for me, because techy talk does not sink in...Infact, thinking about it, he didn't really say much and he was quite old!

However, even though the mic is all plugged into the right jack, I'm finding that it isn't registering on the audio recording options. Its only the Realtek mic that is available to use, but even when this disabled it's still the only mic available for me to choose. Does anyone know how I am able to "install" my JTS NX-7s onto my computer, or how I can find it to start using it...or should I take it back to the shop?

No instructions or anything came with the mic so I've even emailed JTS :-/

Please bear in mind that I am female, and of a "blonde" nature - please exclude words that may interfere with the smooth running of my mind...I'd really appreciate that!

Hey guys,

My audio disappeared and stopped working. my audio icon has a red x on it and when i click it it wants to detect problems (it doesn't work).

what should i do? how should I diagnose the audio? I feel like this is hardware problem as it just happened out of the blue. The audio board has a USB connection (which is working) so the connection from it to the mother board is fine.

installing and updating the driver did nothing.
I can't get the device manager to detect the hardware (scanning does nothing).

any help would be appreciated.

A:sony z11 audio disappeared from device manager (realtek)

What exactly do you have for audio? From your mention of USB I would assume you have an external USB connected sound device of some sort???? Or is the USB mention not really related to your sound and you have the typical internal (on the motherboard) sound device (and you mention RealTek which is internal).

More distinct info on what you have is needed. Also, please fill in the "My System Specs" as that helps someone to try and assist you.

However, two things to start with. (1) if this is a recent problem, use the System Restore function and restore the PC to an earlier available system restore point when it did work. (2) If the system restore does not fix it, reinstall the Sony supplied driver.

Hi, I am hoping someone here can help me. I have been using my Acer Aspire Z5600's ethernet connection to access the internet, until last night when my power tripped out. Looking in device manager, there is no sign of any Ethernet adapter. I've managed to download what I think is the most up to date updater, but running it shows no drivers need to be updated. Has anyone heard of this problem before, and if so how did you reinstate the ethernet adapter, please? Thanks, Clive

Realtek HD Audio Drivers randomly failed after about a month of perfect operation.
The icon for Realtek has vanished, and the audio manager is nowhere to be found in the control panel. Realtek is no longer seen in Device Manager as well. Playback Devices menu shows nothing related to Realtek like it previously did.

Now my front and back audio ports do not detect anything. Only the HDMI audio is working via my monitor speakers. All other peripherals are working fine as well (I don't have anything to test the mic ports).

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers multiple times, from both the version given on the Realtek site and Gigabyte site. The HD Manager is still nowhere to be found.

I tried manually installing the driver to the device manager via the "Install Legacy Driver" and receive "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" as the device status. I have NVIDIA High Definition Audio also installed and working perfectly. I tried uninstalling all of my audio drivers (including the High Definition Audio Controllers in the System Devices categories) only for it to reinstall my NVIDIA drivers that I believe supply the HDMI sound.

I am under the impression that Realtek is supposed to install to both Program Files and Program Files (x86)? It is only installing to the latter every time I try to uninstall and reinstall. A search for RAVCpl64.exe yields nothing.

I am currently running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

A:Realtek HD Audio Driver Randomly Stopped Working and Disappeared

First question what is displayed in the Device Manager, Sound Section? (All entries - post a screenshot).

HDMI sound and PC sound are separate as the HDMI sound is generated by a sound chip on the video board.

If the sound chip is working and not having a conflict, if the RealTek will not install the generic Windows installed HD Audio Driver will be used. If this is not installing either (after uninstalling the Realtek and rebooting) it does sound like a potential hardware problem.

Try this, go to the Device Manager, RIGHT click on the entry for the RealTek sound (even if it has the error code), then Left click "Uninstall" and check the box to also uninstall the drivers (if it gives you that option). Then restart the PC and watch to see if Windows detects the sound and installs the HD Audio Driver. If it does, that says the sound chip is OK. If not, either its bad or it has not been identified and you need to reinstall the Intel motherboard chipset drivers (one of the chipset functions is it identifies all the devices on the motherboard).

I recently purchased an ACER Aspire V3-572PG computer and when hooking it up to my receiver, or TV, via HDMI I cannot get audio to play.

I have tried going into Control Panel >> Sounds and setting HDMI as default but it seems that the system does not even recognize that the HDMI is plugged in. .. at least not the audio component, as the video is working fine.
It seems that I have all the latest drivers (Windows High Definition Audio Device; 6.3.9600.16384; 8/22/2013 ... Realtek High Definition Audio; 7/22/2014), with the relevant driver apparently being the Windows High Def Audio Device driver. I have downloaded more recent drivers from Windows Update Catalog but when I try to update them (via Device Manager) I get the message "the most recent driver is already installed."

The HDMI cable does not appear to be an issue, as it was working with the previous laptop and both cables have the same problem.

Any viable solution would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try playing audio via the headphone jack but the HDMI port is preferred, to minimize the # of cables.

i told windows to update the driver and rebooted. no change.  uninstalled and booted, not fixed.  i ran the dell install package,Audio_Driver_DDG39_WN32_6.0.1.6111_A06.EXE, and it executed but after reboot, no change.  same thing with the realtek driver package.
i used hdwwiz and pointed to a folder in the extracted  dell package that contained the .inf files and the install fails.  from looking on google it seems there are lots of problems with win 10 and realtek.
i don't want to reinstall windows, it would take a lot of time to get my laptop back to where it is now and it could just end up the same way.
anybody have any suggestions?  thank you.

Hi! I was working last Tuesday in the morning with my lap. In this moment, the audio was working. I left, and then at night it wasn't working. It says that there's no audio device installed. A friend of mine was checking it and he thinks it might be lacking UAA drivers. What can I do?

Acer Aspire V5-131-2680 computer.  Realtek High Definition Audio Default Device duel audio jack does not respond correctly when to you plug in an adapter cable to split between playback (earphone) and recorder input.  Earphone appears to work fine but record appears to continue to default to the computer mike.  This is not acceptable.  I am a ham radio operator and I have applications that required the record input to the computer from a radio.  Due to this problem some time back I finally purchased a USB audio device which works fine but it takes up a USB port that is much needed.  This was a Windows 7 computer up until recently when I upgraded to Windows 10 and hoped it might resolve that problem but it did not.  What is the solution?  Bad driver?  Bad audio plug?

A:Acer V5-131-2680 Realtek audio jack problem

Hi Are you sure that the adapter is good?I mean I hope you did not make the same mistake as herehttp://community.acer.com/t5/V-and-VN-Series-Laptops/My-ASPIRE-V5-561-doesn-t-recognize-my-external-... If the adapter is OK, when you plug in the headset do you select headset from the realtek pop-up menu? Or headphone? Since you plug in a headset you should check headset.Or do you have any popup at all?

I was trying to fix a problem, and then I removed some programs, and I think i accidentally removed a file that is needed for the dolby. Now I can?t open it, and when I try it says that I could re-install it. But how?

A:Dolby advanced audio disappeared from my acer v5 notebook

If you have an available System Restore point that is BEFORE whatever you did, that should get it back (the "problem" will also be back after the system restore).

If you don't have a system restore point (and you should), check the PC vendor's downloads, in this case Acer, and get what you need.

Hello all.

I am posting here on behalf of my uncle, a man who is not tech savvy and in need of assistance.

He has received from his older brother an Acer Aspire m5100 PC, which the brother himself got from a neighbor who was going to toss it out. The PC initially came with Windows 8 installed. My uncle like many users was completely disoriented by the Metro UI of Windows 8, so we set him up yesterday with a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 installation. The OS itself works fine, but we are having serious audio issues.

Any system sounds, online video, and local audio simply does not play on the machine. Instead, a deafening popping and crackling static can be heard.

To try to alleviate the issue I have of course searched through these and many other forums and databases. So far I have tried using the last official driver release on the Acer support page for this model in Vista compatibility mode. I have also tried the most recent Realtek drivers, 2.71 or whatever the number is at the top of this forum. Neither driver has given any improvement.

Here are the specifications of the PC as given by Acer. All of the other components besides the OS have been untouched.
Acer Support: Aspire M5100 Specifications

I might also add that I tried booting an Ubuntu install through a USB drive on the front of the machine. I was able to hear the audio perfectly fine through that method, so I am assuming the problem isn't necessarily one of the hardware or any interference. If that is incorrect... Read more

Sounds was also fine in Windows 8?

Never worked right in 7 at all, after fresh install?

I am puzzled, since a Linux Live disc showed it working fine.

What's the audio listed as in Device Manager under Sound...

You uninstalled the audio driver and installed the 2.71 drivers via update from Device Manager's device list?

Hi, I'm having problems with my laptop having installed Windows 7 on it recently (I've previously been using Windows XP).

The laptop's an Acer Aspire 1520.

Now when I'm playing music through any media player (from both MP3s on the hard drive and CDs) there are frequent stutters, crackles and little skips every 10 to 20 seconds which is absolutely doing my head in! I listen to most of my music through headphones so it's really noticeable

It's got:
AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3000+ 1.8GHz
1.25GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5700
Vinyl AC'97 Codec Combo Driver (WDM)
I'm not the most technologically minded of folk so I'm really stuck as to what I can do to fix this and apologise for all the necessary detail I've probably left out! I'm gutted it's not working as music's what I use my laptop for about 75% of the time!

When I first fired Windows 7 up there was no sound at all but that seemed to fix itself after a short while? I still had the CD that came with the laptop and reinstalled what drivers I could off that, I've also tried going to the Acer website to download the sound driver thingy from there but it's made no difference. I read on another thread to try disabling it via 'device manager', restart the computer, then enable it again but that's not changed anything either.

I don't recall there ever being a problem with the sound on XP and if someone out there has an idea how to sort this I'd be very (very) grateful!

Thanks in advance

A:Audio skipping on an Acer Aspire 1520

These cases of audio doing this are very difficult to pinpoint the cause of.

Since Vista's remodeling of the way audio works, it could be so many causes.

The best thing for now that you can do is ensure you are using the latest (and correct!) drivers straight from the manufacturers for your devices, including audio. Check everything you can no matter how much you think it's unrelated.

Start with audio driver.

Also, generally make sure your pc is optimized best as possible. Defragment hard drives. Disable anything not really needed that boots with Windows. Disable services that aren't needed. Be careful with that if you don't know.

Check your Windows Update history. If it installed any drivers, use the one from manufacturer instead.

I once fixed a laptop with this problem by going into the bios. I forget now what was wrong, but there was something not directly related to audio.

I am having trouble with the sound on my computer, as in I have none!

The computer type is an Acer Aspire T180.

I used to have sound and then suddenly one day I didn't and I'm not sure how I lost it. But when I went into the system I had an error message saying that I did not have the correct software to install 'Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus' with a yellow exclamation mark.

I came on here and saw that I needed to download the correct drive, so I went to the Acer website and downloaded the Audio Drive, which in turn downloaded 'Realtek HD Audio Manager.'

When I went back to the system the 'Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus' has gone. I have tried all possible solutions on Windows help but nothing!

Please help! I have been trying to solve this problem for hours and am ready to give up! Any suggestions?

Someone asked me to install Windows XP on this Laptop for them. I never boote to Vista, and I doubt they use it before giving it to me.

So I install XP Professional and performed all the driver installs and updates all the way up to SP3. The laptop has an issue where the main speakers don't produce sound, just external speakers and headphones.

Someone even advised me to do a clean install and Leave it at SP2 , still the same issue.

Could this be speaker hardware failure? I didn't get any "error installing realtek" messages the whole time.

Another thing is, in the Device Manager -> System Devices , "system speaker" says no drivers are loaded for this device.

Any help, as always is much appreciated guys!

Whenever I start playing an audio file on my Acer Aspire One laptop (OS Windows XP SP3, Atom 1,6 with 1gb ram), it starts to skip and glitch on the sound.

And sometimes, it will even crash (Blue Screen) when it's playing something, and I have to reboot.

I can't figure out what's happening.

I tried to update the bios drivers, the soundcard drivers. I verified the system with chkdsk and others utilities to repair possible errors in system, but I cannot resolve the problem.

I reinstalled the Windows Media Player, XP Codec Pack, Realplayer, and the problem persists.

So, anyone know how I can fix this?

A:Acer Aspire One Problem with Audio: Crash

you have updated the drivers using the manufacturers website - correct

have you tried playing the music files in other devices - ie Itunes, real player etc ....
is it all players or just windows media player

I had this problem (still have ) with video files MP4 - they play fine in quicktime - but dont play in realplayer - jerky and jumpy...

I have acer aspire 4520, with win XP installed. After reinstalling the windows the audio is not working, i have installed the realtek audio driver(Audio_Realtek_5.10.0.5423_XP) but their is no symbol of audio in system tray and no sound eighter in speakers or from external source (eg: heads).
Installed the driver numerous times also after uninstalling the (Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for High Definition Audio) but still same problem, all the other functions are working properly. ?

A:Audio problem in acer aspire 4520.

Have you installed Service Pack 3 for XP? It updates the Microsoft UAA driver and you need to do that before installing the Realtek drivers.

You can also try installing the drivers from the Realtek site: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false
Use this one: "Windows 2000, Windows XP/2003(32/64 bits) Driver only (Executable file)"

I have an Acer Aspire One D270 that has had latency issues ever since I bought it. I have tried reinstalling Windows, disabling devices, and seeing the latency on a fresh install with only the drivers Windows found. There was still latency. Sometimes, it will go away for a bit then come back. The audio crackles/pops and is not enjoyable to listen to. This also happens on multiple songs. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. At least one detected problem appears to be network related. In case you are using a WLAN adapter, try disabling it to get better results. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. It seems as though the sound on my Acer Aspire 6290 is not working.

I've been encountering the same problem in ubuntu 9.04. Windows 7 registers an unknown device. Unfortunately, I don't remember the specifications on the sound card, but here's what windows says about the unkown device:

problem code: 0000001C
Physical Device Object Name: \Device\USBPDO-7
Location: Port_#0002.Hub_#0002

I don't know if any of this is useful. I just want my sound working. Any ideas for what I can do to make it work? What should I do?
