S940 - PowerBank

Q: S940 - PowerBank

Hi, I have the Yoga S940 and need to purchase a power bank to charge while I travel. Is anyone able to help and tell me whether either of the two below power banks will work? I think I would prefer the larger capacity but only charges at 30W while the smaller capacity power bank charges at 45W. However, obviously if I need the 45W then so be it. https://www.amazon.co.uk/PD-Power-Bank-RAVPower-USB-Black/dp/B06XTMK9H2?SubscriptionId=AKIAIR4KYOS5H... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07QKK441Y/ref=as_li_ss_tl?language=en_US&ie=UTF8&linkCode=gs4&linkId=19... Any thoughts would be great. Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys , I purchased brand new Yoga S940 2 months ago and aside of a few weeks of enjoyment n between windows updates I am having constant troubles with it. Problems I am seeing are that my computer is very, very laggy.Even when I am typing this on my Chrome browser there are lags in  between words typed and shown on the screen. When I am using mouse I often see 2 mouse currsors on the page and when pages in-browser are loading they, somehow low in sections so it looks like rendering.Similar thigs is happening when I am scrolling down the page .Sometimes mouse cursor stucks and you cant move it normally. All of this is really frustrating and computer is like half usable. It's not something that one would expect to be happening with machine worth ?2000. I have noticed that Lenovo Vantage doesn't offer me the latest drivers for the graphics card (Intel HD620), so I downloaded them from intel's website and installed myself. That seemed to work but only until the next windows update, which got be back to square one.Even after reversing updates the problem persists.Lately, I have noticed that Lenovos updates tend to fix the problem, but they reappear after windows update.  I have also try to analyze everything with Lenovos driver check software and hardware diagnostics but without success. Any advice to fix this is appreciated. THx

Purchased this otherwise great laptop. stays cool while working, no issues there. however when I close the lid and place it in my bag it heats up and drains the battery as a consequence. my computer bag sometime gets so warm i have to bring the laptop out to cool down. i don't use the laptop with any extensive applications remaining open, just the basic like Chrome, MS products and the like. already tried going on airplane mode so to stop bluetooth from actively searching for my mouse, also to stop any acccess to the web which some apps would probably try and search for such access - still same problem.  Solutions? thoughts?

I got a brand new s940 and speakers were working fine when I bought it. Then last week Windows update made a critical update and sound stopped working from speakers (still working on headphones via jack).I restored system checkpoint from before update and sound is back on speakers, which indicates that this is a software issue, not hardware. But Windows needs to update so restoring is not a solution either.Any idea what to do?

I bought the Yoga S940 (i7, Full HD, 16GB RAM) in Germany (I think it is called Ideapad S940 outside of Europe) in June 2019. Unfortunately I face two major problems with it: 1) Heat It heats up extremly fast without doing any major tasks. Simple things as Word, or browsing the web makes it turn very hot. By doing so it is throttling the CPU and so a 2k Notebook is feeling like a 300? machine. Unfortunately I have no idea to turn up the fans. The Lenovo Vantage Software is very unclear about how to tackle this issue. Currently the "intelligent cooling" is turned on and set to "high performance". However it is a miracle to me what it actually does as the other option is "cool and silent". I could not notice any differences between those modes. Is there a software update coming for that or is this a hardware problem that cannot be fixed at all? 2) Battery Life I am not sure how much the first point is affecting the battery life but heat won't do it any favour I guess. However the Full HD is being advertised with 17h of battery life (I know that this value was probably reached under extreme laboratory conditions with turned down brightness, now wifi etc.) and I do not even come close to HALF OF THAT TIME! With 50% brightness, and again doing simple tasks as writing this post (which was already difficult because the CPU was throttled that much I had a delay on the text I wrote) gave me around 6h of battery life. Furthermore the battery is... Read more

Why is it not possible to charge the notebook battery with 30W @ 20V?Why only 45 W and 65 W @ 20 V? I wanted to use this PowerBank with PD support "Anker PowerCore+ 26800mAh Powerbank with Power Delivery"  but only 30W @20V Output. So at the moment it doesn't work if the notebook is on. On standby it works and charges the battery with 30W. Why only when the notebook is off or in standby??

Hello,

recently bought a T470s, very happy with it so far. Tried out USB Type-C charging from my powerbank and it doesn't react. Is it the cable, the power bank or is it possible to charge through powerbank at all?

Powerbank 10000 mAh, 3.6 V, 36 Wh
Input 5.0 V/2.0 A
Output 5.1 V/2.1 A

Cable - random 2$ Male USB 2.0 - Male Type-C adapter

PS. If it's not possible to charge via powerbank, why would you give it a type-C port at all... Nobody is ever gonna use it for type-C AC power adapter, cause the port is on the right hand side... *palmface*

A:T470s USB Type-C charging via powerbank?

USB-C supports many voltages and there is a protocol for the power supply and the device to negotiate the requirements.  You have a laptop that needs 20V and a power bank that only outputs 5 volts.  If you look at your charger that came with your laptop, it can output 5V for your phone or 20V for your laptop.  (also 9V and 15V)  You need a better or smarter powerbank

Hi,I got and AUKEY PB-XD20 with USB PD (Power Delivery) 12V 1,5A - 18W.When I connect it to my yoga it charges it for few seconds than disconnects. Repeating the cycle over and over. The thing is - when I turned Yoga off and leave it connected to this power bank time the % of the battery is going up.When Yoga is up, after few cycles it gets crazy and hangs - forcing me to restart it. Can someone at Lenovo take a look into it and allow to charge it with some lower wattage while off? I do not want to break anything, but this cycle is probably worse than constant power delivery.

Hi,

I am planning on buying a portable wall charger/powerbank and I just want to make sure it won't reduce my phone's battery life in the long run. The phone I have is a BLU Energy XL, which came with a 9V/2A charger that plugs into the wall. However, the powerbank that I am most interested in provides 5V/4.8 or 5V/3.0A (or Qualcomm 3.0, which I am actually not sure about the tech specs) and most powerbanks in general I believe provide something like 5V maximum from USB type ports. In looking up some articles, I discovered that one should try to match the voltage of a replacement power supply (in this case, analogous to my powerbank) to the original power supply because otherwise this may impact the battery's lifetime. Is that true?

In general for my knowledge, how does one convert between something like 9V/2A and 5V/3A in terms of the impact it has on a battery? I can kind of conceptually understand the impact that current has in that it really sets an upper limit for the Amps that a power supply can find and the higher the amps for a given voltage, the faster a device will charge. Not really sure about the impact of voltage? Can one just compare the power of the different chargers like 9*2= 16 watts vs 5*3=15 watts?

Thanks in advance!!
