I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've recently purchased a used Lenovo T430s. The battery appears to be dead, so I purchased an EBK battery from Amazon. The EBK battery appears to work fine as long as the charger is not plugged in. Shortly after the charger is plugged in the system reboots. I've read that Lenovo laptops will not charge a 3rd party battery. Is this correct? At this point in time I can't be sure that the charging system in the laptop is functioning correctly. Is there a utility that will test the laptops charging system? Thank you,Alan

I was looking for a post for my issues could only find one from 8 yrs ago, so ere goes...  I recently purchased a Duracell 9 cell battery for my W530, worked for months without a hitch, until I performed a system flash, now I get the "Battery not supported and will not charge message", So I returned the battery believing it was faulty back to Duracell who replaced it no questions ask, Normal Service resumed, now the message is back some 5 months later, only this time I returned the third party battery and purchase a GENUINE lenovo 9 cell which was double the price of the OEM battery, however the message remained. The battery is correct the part number has been indenified as correct by Lenovo, but the message remains. The Laptop when new would have been nearly $3,000 (2,500) when new, but now the warranty has expired. The machine works fine which its 2TB SSD and 32 GIG of ram running Windows 10 Pro. Laptop is just 4 year old would be a real shame to scrap it over a battery..., very sad! Can Anyone throw some light on this issue, and keep the conversation on track

I have tried calibrating the laptop using the hard drive test and the manual way, but it still shuts down with the battery after discharging 1000mAh.This battery I bought is a 11.1V 8800mAh battery. At 15% on the battery meter, the remaining capacity is 7890mAh.Here is a picture of the HP Battery Check: So I shuts down even when the battery is not empty. With this so far, I can say that either...1. The battery is sh*t quality.2. The battery is not fully compatible.3. The laptop can't take something with a larger capacity. Can someone help me with this issue? And if it is indeed a sh*t battery, where should I be ordering a 'legit' good quality repacement battery?

Hi,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga is displaying a message stating ?Genuine Lenovo Battery Not Attached?.

I would suggest you to perform Flee Power ? remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer. Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect the battery and AC adapter to turn ON the computer.
Get into BIOS and load defaults, save and exit.

Open Device Manager and under Battery Look for Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control method Battery, right Click on it and uninstall it, Restart after uninstallation.

Please let me know the happenings!

Best regards,
Mithun.

Hi Guys,
I have a dell L421X with a dead battery. Called up Dell and they said they didnt have stock for this battery anymore.
Thought to myself, I will just get a 3rd party battery and call it a day. The system boots but says that the battery cannot be identified. In windows it says plugged in , not charging. 63%.
As I understand it Dell deliberately denies 3rd party batteries from charging. But if they cannot even provide me a replacement, what choice do I have? Throw away a good laptop that is 5 years old?
Things I have tried:
Bios update to A16.Remove battery and drain any remaining battery (20 Seconds on Power Button)2 Different 3rd Party Batteries.AC adapter is Original and is fine as per BIOS reading.
So having said all of this is there anyone that knows of a Fix for 3rd party Batteries?
Tried a vhbw battery and a "Genuine" Dell batteries from ebay.

Hi, I recently bought two 01AV427 battery Txx series for use in my T480 20L5000UUS, from an eBay third party seller for. I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

This is  not genuine.  The 9C5 would mean the battery was manufactured in March, 2009.  And Dell's labels don't have the date posted as 2017/07/27.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

Ever since yesterday I've had this problem, I tried several solutions and none of them worked. Basically the problem is: The laptop only works on battery now. When the battery is at 0% the laptop turns off even if the AC is plugged in. To make matters worse, when the laptop is on I get this message "plugged, not charging". So basically the AC no longer works by itself and only charges the battery when the laptop is off. Here is what I tried so far:- Changing the settings on the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool- Uninstalling the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool - Taking off the battery and AC, pushing the power button for 30 seconds, putting them back in and turning on the laptop.- Starting the laptop on safe mode- Praying to God None of these things worked. I recently purchased an x230 and everything is perfect but the battery fit.  It moves up and down slightly.  I know there are many posts in the lenovo forums for all different models that the battery fits lose in "x" model and solutions of putting paper / foam / tape to make the battery fit tighter.   What I'm wondering is if anyone has actually had the problem fixed by lenovo.  I've read a few posts where a user has had the base piece of the case replaced (where the battery fit's into) and that has solved the problem.  I'm still within my return period on my x230 and am awaiting a call back from tech support to see if there is anything they will do but I don't think I will keep it if they can't fix it.   I'm just curious has anyone actually had luck by replacing the base piece.  From what i've read a replacement battery hasn't worked for anyone.  Also, I know everyone says its by design for thermal purposes but I haven't actually seen any official confirmation of this from lenovo.   Thanks.

A:Battery Loose / Battery wiggle in x230 and LENOVO ...

As a follow up, I'm just curious if this is a widespread issue?  Anyone have loose battery in their x230 / x220?  I'm not talking about it falling out...but just a few millimeters of wiggle room.  Basically when i pick mine up or place it down, I can feel / hear the battery move.  I'm just trying to get an idea if this is a real problem or thats just how every thinkpad is.  I called support and they are sending someone to replace the base panel and we'll see if that fixes it.  I'll update this post when it get's replaced.   Edit* I also asked the lenovo support rep if they had heard of this issue and they said no, never.  I don't see how this is possible as if you do a google search for thinkpad loose battery there are many results.

Hi everyone! Is it ppossible to buy NEW battery form my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13 Notebook? It uses the L12M4P21. I looked at many places but all the batteries are made in 2003 or 2004. As I know they loose their performance if they sit on the shelf for many years... Is it possible to find really newly made original Lenovo battery for my laptop?

A:I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro 13, I need a new battery... but NEW, not battery that was made in 2004!

Hi Moksa,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

It may be hard to say as because of the age of the model but you can try calling in EMEA parts sales desk for your region (Hungary 30 722-37-91). On the battery sticker is also the battery manufacturer which you can try but I am not as optimistic for newer manufactured battery.

I would say that as long as they provide the standard battery one year warranty, then it would be a good option to go.

I hope this helps answer your query.

But today, while I was out, I inserted it (while the laptop was off) and I received the following error message: "Battery 2: A battery error has occurred. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery." I've had this laptop for only a year, and everything is up to date. I only take out and put in the battery when the laptop is turned off. According to the battery percentage, it's stuck at 49% and says it's not charging. 49% Not ChargingBattery 1: 100% and fully chargedBattery 2: 0% and not charging I tried checking the battery in Lenovo Vantage, but it just keeps showing the loading animation, but with no info. Does this really mean the battery needs to be replaced (already)? Could it be a software issue? Thanks.

Hopefully I get a solution to this question but my Lenovo Y50 has not been charging even after I thought it was my laptop charger was broken I bought a new one of the same exact type and It still didn't work and did the exact same thing as it did with my old charger. (i had this laptop for a year) What did the laptop exactly do? Well my laptop when I plugged it in it didn't work unless I set it up in a certain way to where I wiggled the charger tip around untill it finally said It was charging and I had to hold it into that position like a statue or else it would unplug if it moved an inch. That's not even the worst part! My chargers also heat at the tip. By heat I mean it literally gets so hot I burn myself on touching the plastic part and the metal part was very hot, when this happened on my new charger I made sure to unplug it right away to avoid doing any damage to it. Solutions I have already tried:Went into my control panel -> device manager -> Uninstalled both of the battery things like the ac adapter and the other thing I don't remember what it was called -> reinstalled -> Worked for a bit but not 100% gauranteed and after a while it didn't work Can't do a battery gauge reset because charger always unplugs Already tried BIOS does nothing. Don't even tell me to restart my laptop lol. Summary:Y50 won't charge, Have to have charger at certain angle to chargeTip over heatsdid everything in device manager to fix itno driver up... But yes 3rd parties are not that bad. I have seen many posts of other users buying many different parts and saying the work just fine. I buy 3rd party parts for the PC's I fix for people, especially for laptop power cords.

I have an XPS L702X that needs a new 150w charger and battery. I was wondering if:
Would a 3rd party battery charge with an official dell charger?
Would a 3rd party battery charge with an 3rd party charger?
Thanks

Hi,  What are the consequences of using a third party USB-C charger for the long term battery life of a ThinkPad? I have an X1 Carbon 5th Gen, which requires a 65W charger (official charger here).  What are the potential consequences of buying a third party multi device charger which supports a similar power output, for instance this one? Will it potentially just charge a little slower (if other devices are also plugged in), or could there be some unintentional degrading of the battery going on? I also have a google pixel 1st gen, which charges at 18W (official charger here). If I use my lenovo 65W charger for this phone, can the phone battery and/or the charger itself be damaged?

After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."

Shockingly none worked that I found.

Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.

A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.

To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Worked with an off brand battery also.

Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.

Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!

Hi askfault,
Do you have any information on how this fixes the battery problem? would be interested to know.

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

A:Laptop battery not charging, battery not identified, 0% battery life

It sounds likely the charge circuit on the mainboard is damaged.  Contact Dell to have the mainboard replaced under warranty.

Hi guys. I have a T470 and after the latest Windows update I encountered a battery naming issue. Before the update batteries had proper order and were named accordingly: battery 1, battery 2, no surprises here. But after the update I noticed the order has changed to battery 0, battery 1 (attached pic below) Yeah yeah, I understand arrays start at zero but what is that? I was just wondering is it just me or you guys have the same situation going on with your batteries? Is there a way to change the order back to "normal"? .

Hello everyone! Not sure if this is an issue but it's surely annoying to know, that battery N1 drains at 5% and the other stays at 100%. Is it possible for a mixed discharge between both batteries ?After all the LIFE of the first battery (while using battery only power) is shortened a lot! Is there any option in LENOVO VANTIGE that I am no aware of ?I looked everywhere and i can't find anything.. Bios latest update 1.30 Thank you very much!

A:T470s BATTERY 1 drains to 5%, BATTERY 2 stays at 100% (BATTERY PRIORITY)

Sorry  but see below post.  Basically you cant set discharge order.  The laptop checks battery wear and bases discharge order on that.  Many people including myself have asked for a BIOS switch or at least an option on discharge order but nothing has happened so far and I dont think its going to happen either.  I do not speak for Lenovo..

I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks!

I have just purchased a replacement battery for my X220 as the current 44++ battery was down to around 50% of its original charge.  However I have read quite a few posts mentioning that there are a large number of fakes out there so I just wanted to run this past the experts to see if my battery is indeed genuine or a crafty counterfeit. Mine came in a Lenovo branded box and to my eyes looks genuine. The only thing that concerns me (and lead to this research) was the fact it states "Use of another battery may present a fire or exportion".  However reading other threads this actually may be a genuine typo. Photos available at: https://1drv.ms/f/s!AvPybbu3LYv0kkBstGx2ShsHOOqE Thanks in advance! Howard

I have a new battery for my Dell Latitude E6530 because I had began receiving messages on the screen that the original battery was starting to experience decreased life.  The new battery appears nearly identical, but did not come in a Dell box.  I have been trying to search to see if there is a way to determine if this replacement is indeed an authentic Dell battery, but haven't found anything.  Does anyone know how to verify the authenticity before I install this in my laptop?

Hi,
I've bought a replacement battery from ebay recently, told to be genuine, but I've read that the 2nd block of letters and numbers show the part no., and I couldn't find anything using mine. Could you confirm it please, if it's a Dell one?
KR-049VTIP-83620-28S-CISF-A01 is the serial of it.
Thanks.

A:Is my new battery genuine?

If it was purchased from Dell, it's genuine.  Otherwise, ask the seller.  That product ID's date code indicates the battery was built 2012 -- so if it is original Dell, it's been sitting on a shelf for a while - or is used.

can anybody tell me it is original and how much backup it will give after full chrage

A:is Battery genuine?

It's a Dell part number and is genuine if purchased from Dell or a Dell authorized parts seller.  Anywhere else -- ask the seller.
6-cell in a 15.6" notebook will run anywhere from about 2 to 4 hours depending on power management settings, CPU type and screen resolution.
