I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello, I have a Lenovo g470, and I was wondering if it would be possible to get an Ivy Bridge processor. The manual says the following ones are compatible: Intel I7-2620M 2.7G 4M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I5-2540M 2.6G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I5-2520M 2.5G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I5-2410M 2.3G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU.Intel I3-2310M 2.1G 3M 2c J1 PGA processor CPU. But as it Ivy Bridge are backwards compatible with SB, I wonder if I could get a 3ª processor and put in this mobo. If not, does it worth to change from i3 2310m to anyone of these above?? i5 2540m has 200mhz higher clock on gpu and i7 has more l3 cache(4MB), or should I just leave like this?? I appreciate any help. Thank you.  (Sorry for my bad english)

I encountered the BSOD with the problem about atikmpag.sys It seems like I made a wrong choice about deleting it, (solution from internet searching)  and now the Display Adapters doesn't work anymore as you can see in the pictures  after deleting the atikmpag.sys during safe mode, It somehow resolved the problem about the BSOD and my laptop are finally starting properly now the problem is about the resolution, it's not the same anymore, it's too low and somehow the screen is blurry, as you can see at the Graphics section, the maximum resolution I can only choose is 1024 x 768, which is supposed to be 1366 x 768 (HD) if i'm not mistaken,   I need your help on how to fix this I hope i can turn it back to normal., I don't have a CD installer (if it is supposed to have one) to re-install it, and about downloading from other sites I'm a little bit concerned about that so I haven't tried it yet.. and it seems like Lenovo has its own installer... Pls help ASAP

hi jm9327,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

The G470 with a dual GPU (Intel+AMD), uses a muxless driver (this is a custom driver that switches the discrete AMD Graphics to the Intel Graphics to save power). If you have installed a different driver, this may cause system instability (including BSOD).

If you're running on Windows 7, try the following::

1. Follow this guide on how to disable automatic driver installation.
2. Install these drivers in order (reboot if necessary)
(1st)  - Intel Onboard Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit)
   (2nd)  - AMD Video Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit)

When finished, check if the yellow exclamation marks are gone under Device Manager > Display Adapters and observe the screen resolution adjustment and BSOD occurrence.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards

Which version of Windows you have shouldn't affect how your battery is charged up so it's probably just coincidence.

You may be needing a new battery. Do you have anyone nearby who can check the battery for you?

After spending an inordinate amount of time searching the internet about my problem, and then contacting Lenovo (who told me it was hardware and I needed to return all of the laptops I bought), I managed to magically find the solution to my problem.  Since it wasn't documented elsewhere on the internet, I thought I'd create a post for it here. The problem I was having was that my Lenovo G470 laptop did not display Press F2 to Enter Setup during the boot process, and because of this, no amount of hammering the F2 button would allow access to the BIOS.  I attempted all of the standard fixes, pulled the battery, held power down for 30 seconds, removed the HDD -- nothing would cause this to appear.  Since it was happening on all 3 of the G470s we just purchased, I didn't believe it was hardware.  I reached out to Lenovo Premium Support, and after about 3 minutes of discussion, "Paul" informed me that all three machines were defective and would have to be sent back in for repair, and it would take 4-6 weeks for repair and diagnosis.   As I had been noodling around with the machines for a few days, ONE of the three ended up showing the bios options during the boot process.  At that point, I had been hitting just about every single key on the keyboard during the boot process, so I couldn't identify what it was that I did that caused the options to appear.  A little more troubleshooting and I figured it out: Lenovo G470 machines equip... A:PC keep hanging without any reason...

THere are many, many things that can cause these symptoms. If you want to try to fix this, you may need to invest a significant amount of time chasing "dead ends".

First I wanna know about power. List your hardware and your Power Supply's rating. Also memory. How many sticks of what ?

Then Spy/ad/malware & viruses. List all relevant progs you are running to include firewall, if any.

History. Did something happen just before these symptoms. Add or remove hardware, software, system crash due to power outage, virus infection etc...

Do you share files via P2P ?

What O/S are you running, which Service Packs are installed and do you have all current updates ?

Run "chkdsk", you could have some errors on the HD.

If you haven't got them already, you should download and install:

AVG
Ad Aware
Spybot
High Jack This !

Install & run all. Post a HJT log here in your next post. Do not try to "fix" any of your entries. Some may be bad, some may be critical to your machine's operation.

Do as many of these as you can, then post back with results and any questions.

Hi all. Man I hate these kinds of issues....

I had to replace my hard disc afer it went on my 1 year old pc. I installed vista on the new drive and got it back up and running again. However, I noticed that it is now doing something that it has never done before....
When you wake up the pc from sleep mode, and jump into an app like Firefox, you get the occasional hang. The pc just freezes for about 10 to 20 seconds, and then continues as if nothing has happened. Tonight I was playing a youtube vid on one firefox window, and typing en email on another, and the song stopped.....I looked and I was no longer typing anything on screen.......20 seconds later, song continues, and I am typing again.....What gives..?
There seems to be no record of the hand, except a spike in the cpu usage history, but then you get that every time you bring that up and watch it....

I am at a loss on this one.

Hey, I'm not sure if I'm posting in the right section 'cause I'm not sure whether or not this is a security issue...overnight, it seems like my computer has gotten....slow. It starts up slow, much slower (all the startup items are the as they were before.) and there is a new step added to startup; on a completely black screen, at the bottom, there's a grayish white bar, that kind of fills up, and then it progresses the normal way, but much slower. The bar at the bottom (it kind of looks like the bar the fills up during safe mode startup) Also, starting in safe mode did not help, it's still much slower than normal. It's not constantly slow, I mean as I'm posting this message there's absolutely nothing wrong, but I know if I use it for another half an hour, the computer will hang for a few seconds completely without responding, at least 5 times. I'm sorry if what I've told you does not help with the diagnosis....but I'm totally confused...I deleted all temp files, checked all my processes in the task manager...defragmented.....everything seems normal. I haven't installed any new software either.
Any suggestions? Because, at this point, ANY help would be much appreciated, I'm lost.
Thank you.

I have an older x220 thinkpad; when running backup it gave me an error message that there was not enough room (but there was plenty of room on the external drive!).  I made the mistake of deleting the backups from the external drive manually.  Now, it hangs up.  I thought perhaps deleting the backups showing in the system would force it to start over with a brand new backup instead of looking for the old ones; however when I try to delete the backups from the list in lenovo backup, it also hangs up.  I would like to find a way to clear all of the history out of the backup system so that it will start over with a new image (and work, of course).  Any ideas?

Hi Nawaid,1. Does your systems have other symptoms? Such as slowing down, application crashing, etc.?2. You may try to perform a memory scan to see if there is any issue on the RAM.

I purchased a Lenovo Thinkpad 310-15KB in MArch 2017. It has worked ok since. It is much slower than touted otherwise it works. This morning I started it up as usual and I found the screen is broken. It has been on this table since March with no problems and on shutdown yesterday everything was fine. I contacted NewEgg and they gave me the Lenovo number. First of all, the lenovo people tried to claim my warranty stops this month on the 26th! Then after asking me if I had the receipt in hand (I can get it if I need it) they told me the physical damage was not covered. When I ponted out that nothing odd has happened except normal opening and closing of the lid which means it had a manufacturing defect. The person asked me why I did not contact them in March!? when I explained the defect only showed up this morning they repeated the "it is not covered" script. They went round like this interspersed with questions phishing me for more personal information and recommendations that I send it to their shop. I just hung up on them. Now I have found the link below which shows it is a problem that Lenovo has. I have no idea why it would show up except that opening the cover this morning finally caused the defect to show itself. There has been no rough or harsh treatment of the machine which I am using right now with an add on monitor.Any help people?https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-P-Y-and-Z-series/Ideapad-Z480-Screen-cracked-for-no-reason/td-p/...

Hello all,

About a week ago my Lenovo v570 began acting up. Long story short, as a last resort (last meaning I was pricing replacement hard drives), I wiped my entire hard drive, hidden partitions and all. I have spent countless hours working to get this thing back in working order and I may, after 30+ hours, be on the right track.

After doing a lot of research and reading a lot of threads, this is where I'm at:

As I mentioned, I completely wiped the hard drive, I created a 100GB partition to install Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit (which is the same OS that was pre-loaded) and have left the other 650GB unallocated for now. I formatted the new partition and began to install Windows, which, after all the trouble I've gone through, even getting to this point was a huge step.

Well, as the title suggests, the install hangs at 0% at step 1 of the installation process. I have tried both DVDs as well as using a flash drive (that is already formatted to NTFS) which I used the Windows 7 Download Tool to create. I have gone to the BIOS and mixed and matched nearly every plausible option, without luck. I disabled USB legacy at times, switched from ACHI to Compatibility, disabled the wireless option via BIOS, unplugged all USB devices (unless using the USB install method) and everything else I could possibly think of.

Even before I was forced to completely wipe the hard drive and was trying to salvage my information, I did an install which made it further along (before ultimately gett... Read more

Enter BIOS setup to see if there are any listings to indicate you have an EFI mobo. If so, you'll need to follow special steps to reinstall: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums

If not we need to first confirm the installer. Where did you get Win7? Is this a known-good DVD which has installed before? If not confirm the installer ISO or download another from the official download link given in these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7 Factory OEM.

If a confirmed ISO DVD burned with MS tool or ImgBurn at 4x speed fails, next write to flash stick using MS tool or Universal USB Installer with Win7 in dropdown menu. Boot using one-time BIOS Boot menu key under USB, Removable or HD's.

If it fails, unplug the DVD drive as well as all other HD's and peripherals to try again.

Next check the Lenovo Support Downloads webpage for your model for newer BIOS version update. Read the download info or the Read Me file in download to see if it might apply. If not, reset BIOS to defaults: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS. While in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI to try install, then IDE mode if it fails.

Next test your RAM and HD from these troubleshooting steps.

Report back results for more steps, including possible installing in another machine to moved HD: SysPrep to move HD to another computer

Hallo. Two months back we have purchased a Lenovo 110 with Windows 10 and configured it. The initial setup and configuration took a long time (3 to 4 hours) and when it was done, we have been experiencing a lot of issues. Basic programs keep getting frozen and take a long time to start. Programs like MS Excel or MS Edge (for browsing) freeze the whole system and we need to press the power button to restart the laptop. System bootup can be really fast or at times get hung up for hours it the message "Windows being configured..."  We have taken it to Saturn, where we bought the laptop, but their customer care says everything is fine and have sent us the laptop back after just having reverted the system to factory settings.  We are highly dissatisfied and inconvenienced with this product, especially after having given away a lot of money for it, when basic lower end laptops work much smoother. Expecting a solution for this problem. Thank you.

Hello everyone. I have a Lenovo G470 laptop, i'm having few problems with wireless connection. Some months ago I was using normally my laptop and then I had a internet problem, so I tried to disable my adapter in network connections and then it has dissapeared from my connections.. Then I tried to look on Device Manager in Network Connections tab, my driver was gone.. I already tried everything.. Actually, I'm using Usb wi-fi for using internet on it and Lan cable. 1. Tried to reinstall my wi-fi driver.2. Tried to enable on bios.3. Installed Fn+f5 thing, ps: It only shows up Bluetooth... Also in Windows Mobility Center has no wi-fi to enable.4. Turned on wireless key in left side of laptop, no results.. 5. And last thing, reinstalled windows like 2-3 times, and still no wi-fi..  I really don't know what is happening with my wi-fi, I'm tired to search in a million sites for fixes and no one worked.. So I'm posting this if someone could help with this problem. PS: Sorry for bad english, my main lang is portuguese

Hi!I'm having this problem.. mi G470 is showing video without almost any bright. I thought that the LED display was wrong so I replaced it, but the problem persists. Somewhere I read that there is a fuse on the motherboard that gives power to the display. Is this correct? Does anyone knows anything about this? (Windows starts normally, ?I can even login...)Any clue will help! Thanks!!

From what I understand  your notebook works fine when using English keyboard layout, but does not work as expected if you change to Spanish keyboard layout.

Check your BIOS for a language or region setting and adjust as needed.  Also - look in control panel for keyboard settings and install additional keboard layout for Spanish.

Good luck.

Hello everyone. I installed W10 in a G470 Laptop (Lenovo) - Machine Type 4328. After 10 days it shows a blue screen, error 0xc00000034. I cannot even turn on the computer now. I have files inside that I don´t want to lose. Is this a common issue with W10? What should I do? Thank you all. Maria

That BSOD stop code usually points to a problem with the Hard Drvie (HD) that is preventing it from booting.   If you have another computer running Windows 7, 8.1 or 10, you could Create a System Repair Disk that you can use to boot your laptop, and from the tools on the CD, run a chkdsk of the hard drive.   You can also use another computer to create download the Windows 10 install media directly from Microsoft, and use it to boot your system and attempt a repair, but if your HD is actually going bad, attempting any sort of repair may just make the chance of recovering your important data less likely. If you have data on the existing HD that you simply cannot bear losing, I would leave it off, and take the system to a good local computer shop and have them try to recover your data off the HD before attempting any sort of repair.    A good PC repair shop will be able remove the HD from your laptop, attach it to another computer, and attempt backing up your data off the old drive for you.    How to create a Windows System Repair DiscInsert a blank writable CD or DVD into your CD/DVD driveSelect  Start >> Run and type:  recdisc  and press enter.Select "Create Disk"Good Luck,

Good evening,

I own an ACER Extensa 5620
2 GB of RAM

OP Is Windows 7 Home Premium
x64 bit
the original installed OS on the system was Vista
full retail version?

I purchased this laptop from EBAY. It was cheap and I am starting to figure out why. It was working fine for a while, minus the CD Rom not working. All of a sudden a BSOD keeps on interupting me when I am working on line, or on word, when ever it feels like. I brought the laptop to a PC repair place and they installed a new version of windows 7 on my laptop. They said that should fix the problem with the screen. However this did not work. He did say to bring it back and he would look at it again, I am trying to fix the problem myself because I can not leave my laptop for more than a few days unless it is necessary. Attached is the reports that Sevenforum asked my to do. Please help with this problem.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi,

When I click on 'Start' - 'Settings' - 'control panel', a blank window opens and hangs for about 5 seconds before the contents appear. This is true for a lot of windows. Sometimes when I browse 'My documents', say I double click a folder it will open blank and take up to 10 seconds for the contents to appear.

Any suggestions?
Henry

have you defragmented your harddrive recently ?? sounds like your system is having to find the data on your harddrive perhaps....might be helpful to get you a utility like system mechanic or one I like a lot ,,,Tuneup Utilities,,,,,it will check your Programs structure for errors, registry for errors, including check your harddrive for major Fragmentation ...and has a fix it button at the end after it scans for problems and corrects them. did it start happening after a hardware or software change? how much ram do you have and speed or your processor?

Hi,

I was recommended to this thread from another one:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f10/...ng-372694.html

I've downloaded dds.scr, but when I double click it it asks me which program I would like to use to open it. I am not aware of any script blockers, I have never intentionally installed something like that.

Thanks,
Henry.

Hello.I have a ( now ) ancient Lenovo 3000 N100.I don't like throwing things away and if I can get it restarted I would be pleased. Basically, it won't boot up.   I get a message: STOP: 0x000000ED (0x89B16858,0xC0000006,0x00000000,0x0000000000 ) Is there any SIMPLE way to just go to a factory reset ? .   I see posts saying 'press the Lenovo care button'  but where is that ?  what does it look like ?Others say stick a pin in a hole   ~but I cannot see any pin stickable hole anywhere ...... So what to do ?  I doubt if it is worth spending money on.

Hi jonblane1,1. May I know what Windows are you using? 2. You may try to access Lenovo System Recovery by pressing F11.3. If Step 2 does not work, you may refer to this link.

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

I hope this is the correct place to post - did not see a E series in the ThinkPad Board... I am getting an error when trying to update to Lenovo System Update version 5.07.0065.I recently upgraded the computer form Windows 7 to Windows 10. Trying to make sure my drivers were up-to-date I ran across the newer version of the System Update app. When I tried to install, it gave me this error:The old version is now none existant in Programs and Features. Any ideas? All are appreciated!  Thanks.
