Lenovo Yoga 12 freezing problem

Q: Lenovo Yoga 12 freezing problem

Just booted up my old Lenovo Yoga 12 from a few years ago. I erased all partitions and installed Windows 10 from an ISO file on a USB flash drive and it's been freezing constantly. Sometimes to the point that it's unusable. I've wiped and reinstalled 4-5 times and still keeps freezing so I wiped and reinstalled Windows 8.1 from and ISO file and it still freezes. Once it freezes, everything locks except for the cursor. I can't open or close anything or even use CTRL-ALT-DEL to pull up task manager. Anyone with any thoughts on this? At first I suspected it was the OS but now trying 2 different OS's and still freezing I suspect it could be a hardware issue? Totally lost and don't know where to proceed with this.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Dears, I purchased the Lenovo Yoga 720 15.6` and first time that I turned it on I had a problem. The computer restarts every 3 minutes without reasion. The screen freezes and restarts. follow exactly the problem in the picture attached. ps. work normaly on Safe Mode ...  the main problem, that Lenovo dont accept warranty in Brazil for this model and also they dont accept to receive it if is not inside USA. So, I have no options.. I spend a lot of money in one laptop that I cant use and also cant sent to warranty. So, I am trying to do everything to fix it by myself..  I am really disappointed with Lenovo and support.

I've been experiencing a lot of weird quirks with my Yoga 2, and I'm not sure whether Windows 8.1, my specific combination or drivers, or a hardware issue is to blame.  The most consistent, and annoying issue, is the laptop constantly freezes after putting it to sleep.  It is almost transparent -- I never see the blue screen, because I've already closed the laptop.  I just open it up, the Lenovo logo pops up, and it turns out my computer has rebooted.  The windows event log confirms that a critical error has occurred. I've performed a factory reset and it still occurs.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

A:Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro Freezing after sleep

Hi,I have the same problem with my yoga 2 pro. I've tried to find solutions but none of them work for me. My best guess is that the new hardware have compatibility issues with windows 8.1. My spec is i7 4500 8GB RAM 256GB SSDBTW, you can avoid this frustration by disable Sleep mode. I use Hybernate mode for both my power botton and lid-close actions. Setting are in Power Options.I hope Lenovo take this seriously, it's a shame that we have to experience all this. Don't they care about branding?

I have Recently purchased a Lenovo Yoga 2. 11.6 inch screen Laptop. With N 3530 processor. I am having problems with it freezing up and it makes a horrible loud buzzing sound. No buttons respond, mouse won't function and touch screen does not respond. In the end I have to press and hold power button to get it to switch off then turn on again. The problem mainly happens when watching videos. Using Netflix app is the worst.  The buzzing sound seems to be coming from speakers. I have checked error logs and the main errors showing are one about display can't tell brightness settings and another about Netflix app.  I have tried to uninstall netfix app and reinstall but it makes no difference. Also problem is not just with netfix. I have been to Lenovo website and have updated some drivers. I updated bios but this did not improve things. I have tried to update display drivers as one of errors happening a lot recently is about the display. I downloaded correct drivers for my laptop from Lenovo website But it won't let me install them. I get a error message saying customised manufacturer drivers installed so can't install. Contact manufacture for correct drivers. What is wrong is there any way to fix or will I have to return laptop. Also keyboard and touch pad do  not disable in tent or stand mode. Making stand mode in particular impossible to use. why is this and again is it possible to fix this. I ... Hi at all,I got a brandnew Lenovo 910 Yoga with newest i7 core and 16GB for christmas. Now I am a bit in doubt about this laptop because it keeps freezing and lagging a lot when I browse a little in Chrome. When I open 4-5 tabs and stream BBC radio at the same time or load a page with lots of gifs like Tumblr- it hangs up. Mouse freezes, laptop does not respond to commands anymore, takes up to 30 seconds to go back to normal.I had task manager open to check the pressure on the system but there's nothing going on... CPU running between 5 and 20%, RAM being up to 45% ... so I really dont see a problem here that would cause such a strong laptop to crash....? I updated BIOS and used companion to check for and install all possible updates there are, but it didnt really help much.  My old Carbon X1 who had only 8GB RAM and an old i7 4th generation core was totally able to deal with my browsing-behaviour, despite being less powerful, so I dont understand what's going on. Anybody having an idea on where to look for the problem? I am running out of diagnose-ideas.  Thanks and happy new year,Lisa

lenovo yoga 3 pro 1370, 10 months old, upgraded to W10 Sept 2015, installed new drivers for W10, latest BIOS (a6cn58ww), all W10 updates installed. Here is the problem: since a couple of weeks, the system freezes when I move the screen (but only pulling it towards me) when the Broadcom 802.11ac is enabled. If I disable the Broadcom Network adapter in the device manager everything is fine and can move my screen without problems. Once I enable it BOOM ! I have posted this on other forum, and was able to get some relief (for 24h...) by doing the following: 1) I uninstalled the Broadcom driver and also checked the box ?delete the driver software for this device?2) I double clicked on the latest driver (4abe02af) and followed the instructions3) BUT at a certain point during the re-installation it asked me if I wanted to ?uninstall? the driver which I found strange as I had already uninstalled it from the device manager, so I clicked yes and it said ?uninstall complete? or something similar4) Out of curiosity I launched again the installation of new driver, and this time it installed without asking me whether I would uninstall it5) Rebooted the system, the problem disappeared for about 24h, then re-surface and still on.  So I am now facing again the old problem. I have tried all of the above for a couple of time but no avail. I have been adivced to restore the system to an earlier point but this means I will have to reinstall ... Read more

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

One suggestion..... I'm wondering after you straightened out the driver problem if Windows 10 didn't automatically reinstall the problem driver back again.  Windows 10 is good for giving driver updates whether you want them or not.  Try turning off the auto driver updates, reinstall the new driver and then see if that makes a difference.  This article will explain how to stop the auto updates of drivers......

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

Hi, I have a Lenovo yoga 910.  I lost my charger, so i die buy a new one. Did't work so i got a other one. Still not working. Problems i have: 1. It won't charge (no light to the indicator)2. It won't start up (no little sound, nothing.)3. Battery is empty so i can't do anything on the laptop it self. So that's not a option. I die try the 30 to 60 seconds power button press. With and without the battery.  Also the novo button.  Still nothing. So what can i do?   Is it a option to try a other adapter (got only a weaker adapter from a tablet) or   just use a normal c USB cable in the powerknop and connecting that with the laptop to see  what the laptop does?   (Need to be sure i won't  do anything to the laptop it self.) Thanks for the help anyway!

Hello, My Lenovo yoga laptop made some weird buzzing sound, so I realised it's comming from the fan. I ordered a new fan and replaced the old one with the new one. However, the new one doesn't even start. It is not spinning at all. I checked the wiring and if the fan is spinning freely and everything seems to be ok and in good working condition. I ran the lenovo diagnostics tool and it says that there is no fan available.  Also ran a couple of other programs like speedfan and cpuid, and they both don't recognise the fan at all. Could it be a faulty fan or problems with the motherboard?

we've dealt with these problems before, unfortunately this time we cannot find the onekey recovery for this particular model.  ive scoured the net and come up null.  basically the system image and recovery image is corrupted on the msata ssd.  regular recovery media will not detect the ssd nor will the bios.  the OS partition is intact and not corrupt.  ive tried rebuilding the bcd to no avail.  normally we can generally get a system image from the manufacturer and backup files and reinstall via image, but Lenovo refuses to issue a recovery as the warranty expired on Jan 1st 2016.  So basically the customer is out a pricey computer because lenovo will not provide a recovery, even with serial and proof of purchase.  Traditional reinstall will not work either as it needs to be flashed via an image.  i find it to be ridiculous as the customer has no recourse to correct the issue.  i have verified the ssd is functioning correctly via an external adapter that I use to work with msata/m.2/mpcie etc.  Im at a loss here on what to do as Lenovo is zero help.  Does anyone here have the recovery for the yoga 2 pro please and thank you.

So I purchased a new Lenovo Yoga 730 15i 4K a week ago. and everything is working perfectly fine. Except for one very annoying little problem, which is that every period of time (I cant figure out when its happening!) the laptop acts like its a 10 years old laptop. it lags so much for a couple of minutes, like the mouse starts stuttering and freezing, and i cant figure out if its the whole computer is lagging, but i tried to play a video when it was happening, and i noticed that the whole screen was like freezing and stuttering for a couple of minutes. i have seen so many questoins about that, and none was solved.

Hello! I'm having a rotatation problem - the screen doesn't rotate itself automaticly on Win10 - I actually have to turn on and off the auto-rotate button to do the rotation - but it's not the cause right now.  After that I decided to update the BIOS in order to eliminate that problem (at least I hoped for that) - so I downloaded a file from Lenovo site (bacna0ww). It updated itself but it didn't actually turned off the computer (the closing screen turned on for a second and got back to my desktop), so I had to turn it off by myself. After that it got updated (shortly saying) and then the "boot menu" appeard with a boot device to choose - which is my SSD (nothing else). I can choose the device by clicking enter but nothing happens. Screen flickers for a moment and got back immiedietly to the same boot menu with a SSD to choose as a boot device.  I was able to boot it by setting "legacy boot" and turning off UEFI by it - but why it actually happend? Can I turn it back as it was before? I tried installing the older BIOS version (it installed with an automatic restart without a problem) but it didn't help. The "boot menu" on UEFI still appears and still holds me back, so I can't boot by simply choosing my SSD and clicking enter on it. Will you be able to help me? Moreover - the auto rotation still doesn't work.

My Yoga 730 used to be blissfully quiet but more recently the fan had become super active most of the time, even under what seemed to me normal or even minimal activity. I found out that the NVIDIA Display Container LS process was the likely culprit. If you open Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) and then scroll down until you see NVDIA Display Container LS, select it and then 'end process' the problem stops. This also improved battery life. I'm not sure what the process does but have not experienced any negative effects from ending it. NVIDIA seems to be aware of the problem https://www.windowslatest.com/2019/04/29/nvidia-driver-430-39-high-cpu-usage-on-windows-for-some-use...

Open Device Manager and uninstall the WLAN 802.11 driver "Place a check on the Delete driver software for this device ". The hit on scan for Hardware Changes.
Delete the driver again until it does not show you a check box for deleting driver software then Restart the computer.

Now install this
Intel WLAN Driver for Windows 8.1
Then try reconnecting again.

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

Hi,I have problems with my recently bought laptop - Lenovo Y700-15 i5. Sometimes it freezes - I can only move mouse, but clicking and taping on the keyboard causes nothing on Windows 10. Reinstalling Windows didn't help. I've also installed Ubuntu OS - still freezes, however from time to time I can access the HDD partition (which is empty) with mouse but can't access SSD one still. Right after rebooting OS using the Power button BIOS almost always (always on Windows, sometimes on Ubuntu) doesn't see my SSD disk. I have to restart laptop several times. What do you think - is this a software, driver issue or hardware problem?CPU: i5 6300HQGraphic: Geforce GTX960MRAM: 8GB DDR4SSD: Plextor PX-128M7VGThanks in advance!

Hey guys, strange problem, unit started freezing before it could go the desktop so I did a system restore and now can easily get to the desktop but first issue is that the owner always had to enter his password to enter windows, now that doesn''t happen, when booted the system will go straight to windows. Also rightlicking on the main folders such as My Pictures My Documents e.t.c doesn't work so I am guessing it's a permissions issue. I looked at the Folder Options but not seeing anything there regarding permissions, I want to advise the owner to backup all files first before I should proceed to do anything but since I can't copy and paste that won't work, any ideas please?

I would run a hard drive diagnostic...to deal with any questions I might have regarding the fundamental capability of the hard drive before assuming it's an O/S or other problem.  Chkdsk /r is NOT a hard drive diagnostic, it's a file system tool.
