Windows StartUp Command Prompt error

Q: Windows StartUp Command Prompt error

Everytime when I start my computer a Command Prompt Screen appears and tells "The system cannot find the file specified."
So I run "msconfig.exe" and "Autostart program viewer (Sysinternals - www.sysinternals.com)" to find recent suspicious startup entry, but found nothing new.
Here's what I found :-
Malwarebytes Anti Malware removes folder :- "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\2308189059"
OS :- Windows XP SP3
Process :- cmd.exe (1292) | Parent :- <Non-existent Process>(1096)
Command line Argument :-
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe  /K for  /F %i in ('dir /b /a:h-d /w "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\2308189059\*"') do start /b regsvr32.exe /s /n /i:"" "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\2308189059\%i"
I want to know what is in that Folder - "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\2308189059\" and which process wants to execute its files?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello abz, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Check in your startup locations in the tutorial below to see if you have that file listed. If you do, then you could either disable or remove it to stop it from running at startup.

When I log into Windows 10 on my P50, as the desktop comes into view a command prompt window alway opens and closes in a fraction of a second; much too fast to read or capture. This has been happening since the day I bought my P50 so I imagine it's the manifestation of a Lenovo service or scheduled task but I can't figure out which. Can anyone shed light on the matter?

My computer is getting stuk on the loadin screen, and it just loads forever. I have tried safe mode and last known good configuration and neither work. In safe mode it loads the windows files all the way up to '/crcdisk.sys' and then freezes. If I open 'edit boot options' instead of choosing a boot option (by tapping f10) it has an editable area that says '[ /noexecute=optin. (tons of spaces). ]' Should I edit this to something to fix it? I called support and they said to do a system restore which I cannot do because my disk drive is broken and I do not have a hidden partition, so I am hoping one of you will be able to help me fix this. Thank for any help you can give.

Now, for your solution: There is nothing wrong with your hard disk, there technically isn't anything wrong with Vista either. The system, believe or not, didn't freeze on crcdisk.sys. Hi,

After booting up my laptop (Dell studio 7 running Windows 7 Premium 64) today, two strange "Command Prompt Error" message appeared. They had something like "Hidden Startup" as the window title (I might not have remembered this completely accurately as I didn't think to take a screenshot or save them at the time).
I haven't seen these messages before, and since rebooting they haven't returned.
Is there a way of viewing them again so I can work out what they are and what might have caused them to appear? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There may be others that know how to review the messages but before that
run an anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan with malwarebytes
Run a full scan with eset online.

A:How do i remove startup command prompt message at startup

Hello Wilson, and welcome to Eight Forums.

Check your startup programs to see if one of them may be for this. If it doesn't stand out, you could temporarily disable a startup program and test to see if it stops or not. If not, then you could enable the startup program again if you like.

Since a while, I see that there is this command prompt on my startup. I can barely catch it, but once i could take a screenshot of it and see what it is.
I see that others had this vbc.exe problem before, but i haven't seen anyone with it existing in the Temp file.

I assume it's a virus because it's not where it should be, though VirusTotal says it can be totally trusted.

Hello everyone

Recently a problem has arisen with my system.

Previously I have been doing work that requires me to unplug my network connection and I need to check my IP address each time I plug it in again. I guess it's not set for static IP.
Anyways to do this I usually go into Command Prompt and type 'ipconfig'

Now however I just get "'ipconfig' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file".

The directory is the same as its always been, I can change it but it doesn't seem to matter what it is.

I've checked many other posts and is there something possibly wrong with my PATH variable? I used the command 'echo %PATH%' and it works, the list it gives is very garbled however.

I'm not sure what might have made this problem arise, but I would greatly appreciate any help.

Thanks!

A:Startup and accessing command prompt

Keep tapping F8 as soon as you turn on the PC, this should give you the
"Advanced Startup Options" screen. This gives you the following options:

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt
Enable Boot Logging
Enable VGA mode
Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)
Debugging Mode
Start Windows Normally
Reboot

Using the up/down arrow keys you can then highlight which you want and press <Enter> to execute that option.

Hi, Just the question there in the title:"Anyone know the exact Command Prompt formula to add an OS to startup?"What ever I put together never works.I've found: BCDEdit /create {ntldr} /d "Earlier Windows OS Loader" as the general generic formula to add earlier OSs but not the exact formula.I think: "BCDEdit /create {ntldr} /" is exactly the first part of the command?I am not sure what is suppose to go in the place of: " /d "Earlier Windows OS Loader" "?My guesses have been: " /F: /(or\)boot.ini " (representing the partition that the XP OS is on?), or " /C: \boot.ini " (to make an .ini file on the partition with the Vista OS on?).The second suggestion is the closest thing that I can come up with that I think is right but it doesn't work." BCDEdit /create /d "Windows Vista" " is the generic formula for adding Vista. Again I'm not sure what goes in the place of " /d "Windows Vista" ".So, does anyone know the exact Command Prompt for adding an OS to a Vista startup? Thanks,John PS I've tried the program from this site that someone offered as a solution but I don't seem to be able to get it to work:http://www.vistabootpro.org/

A:Startup Os Command Prompt Formula?

OK, I've gotten Vista Boot Pro to work and it recognizes the 3 OSs on my PC, 2 Vista (which I can access with no problem) and the 1 XP OS (which I can not access). The XP OS shows up "Red" on the VistaBootPro meaning that something is a miss. The XP also shows on start up but when trying to access it an error shows saying insert the OS dick and run repair. Well, I've done that even and I keep coming up against the administrator's pass word which I don't even think I made one so I can't get access the repair from the OS Instillation disk even. The boot.ini file seems to be there in the XP program but nothing is working. So, does anyone know how to make the XP accessible on start up?Please,John

My computer was recently infected with a pretty deep-rooted virus.  I had it cleaned at my local computer technician but I'm not covinced it is 100% clean - especially since until recently command prompt kept opening and then closing itself several times over at startup.
Some background - until recently I was applying for jobs via a number of job websites.  Unfortunately, I was sent a bogus offer of employment by a phisher, clicked on a link and all hell was let loose.  As mentioned I got my computer cleaned out although the technician would not reveal exactly what it was that infected my computer as he stated he did not want to simultaneously reveal the in-house anti-malware programme the store used... - nevertheless I started receiving phisihing attempts by the dozen to my email address some of which were highly sophisiticated and after being caught out again, then having my computer cleaned again and then receiving even ore bogus offers of employment I purchased Eset security suite to get some top-of-the-line protection.  I have enlisted ESET remote support to double-check my computer and the technician seemed pretty certain it was clean.  However, the definitive cause as to why command prompt continued to open and close at startup could not be ascertained.  I have trawled the internet for advice on causes and solutions and have tried numerous suggestions.  Unfortunately the problem I have now is although I seemed to have stopped command ... Hey, I wasn't entirely sure where to post this, so I hope this is a good section.

My brother made a .bat file that logs-off the computer and put it on the start up. So when we logon, about 15 seconds in Command Prompt opens, and logs us off of the computer.

I'm not that good with the actual processes of a computer and all that, so I tired going into CCleaner and removing it from the startup menu, but it wasn't there. I tried to roll the computer back, but it logs-off well before I get the chance.

We tried to start the computer in Safe Mode but it brings us to a screen saying something along the lines of "Sorry for the inconvenience, Windows cannot start-up" (if this is particularly important let me know and I will quote it). So we can't start the computer in Safe Mode, and I'm not sure if the other options are of any relevance.

If anyone could help us that would be great. Preferrably we'd be able to keep all of the files on the computer, seeing as our Mom is going for aninterview and has a copy of her CV and all of the details on the computer, but not on any external drive.

Thanks a lot,

Ash

Hi and thank you in advance for your help. A few weeks ago I noticed the command prompt would pop up at start up, at the location: C:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.050727\vbc.exe

I can close the command prompt and use the PC, but I have noticed a decline in eprformance and most recently, I noticed that the task manager is not working the way it is supposed to. Task manager lists programs, but does not have the the processes tab or the other tabs that give you the ability to see individual prgrams running in the background. Task Manager also now does not display the resources being allocated to the programs that it does display. I googled the vbc.exe and saw other posts that it is some kind of malware.

Any assistance you can provide is much appreciated!!

Then goes to the system32 folder.

If I close the DOS window before the start-up finishes, then OS does not complete starting up. If I wait until start-up finishes, then the window just stays open and the system works normally, I can close window without errors.

How can I find out what is trying to open and causing this? Sure would like to reinstall whatever is going wrong.

Unfortunately my hard drive crashed awhile back. I just got 2 new 1TB Western Digital hard drives installed on my computer and restored the system with my recovery disks. Everything went wonderful!

The ominous task of updating is where things went wrong. After one of my windows vista updates, the command prompt box opened when my desktop was loading and said

Windows\system32\cmd.exe
Error: Access is Denied
Error: Access is Denied

Then a sentence appears too fast for me to read and the entire thing closes before you can blink.

It does this every time the desktop is loading the start up programs. I had just got done doing 3 things when it began showing up. I had just installed Norton 360, some Windows Updates from 2007 and 2008, and I had just deleted the free trial software for Microsoft Office 2007.

I'm running Windows Vista on a Gateway 32 bit, model gm5632e.

There seems to be no other hiccup in the system, and the errors don't seem to be hurting anything. Everything appears to be running smoothly and efficiently. However, since I just purchased 2 new hard drives I'd like to keep it that way and stop these errors from showing up.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Okay, so my friend had the FBI MoneyPack virus. I couldn't log in under safe mode-the computer just restarted in each safe mode-modes (safe mode, safe mode with networking, and with command prompt). I was able to create a HitMan Pro USB, and found an EXE that was bad.

Now the problem: when I start windows (safe mode or not) a command prompt opens and says that (the .exe that Hitman Pro deleted)
"1c54cad4.exe is not a recognized as an internal operable program or batch file".

How can I stop this error? Can I find it manually in the computer somewhere and stop the computer from looking for this file? Is the virus still partially there? i ran AVG, Spybot, Avast anti-rootkit, fixed MBR through Avast, ran a disc check, yet nothing will stop that from popping up.

Also, I was able to create a new user (by running explorer.exe) and that account seems to be fine. My second question is "Can I delete the old user and will the software and programs that he downloaded and installed still be in the computer?

I already have the utility automated via batch, and would like to just run one SFX app and move on to the next machine, knowing that this app will reboot the machine into safe mode w/ command prompt, run my utility, and reboot the machine back into normal mode (the standard shutdown -r -t 01 is easy enough, but there are no modal options!). Also, if this can be done, how would I then make sure that the current user logs in automatically, rather than have safe mode stop at the log-in screen?

The utility in question is a simple "Common Software Package" which includes some software such as Reader and Flash. Some of the software included cannot be installed while an antivirus is running (at least any that have tamper-protection) due to the registry editing involved, but are completely positive in nature (one such software package simply checks the current registry vs. a backup it takes on each shutdown to look for any discrepancies, adjusted for installed software, of course). The packages do not require Windows Installer service to be running, so I have found SM w/ CP to be the best option.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Proxycfg command don't exist in Vista instead you have to use netsh wihttp reset proxy command.

Hello ddadda, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if doing a system restore, at boot if needed, using a restore point dated before you had this issue may be able to fix it for you.

Hope this helps,

It used to work, but for some reason now when I click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Command Prompt (or Start, Run, cmd) I get the following error message window:

C:\WINNT\system32\cmd.exe
Only part of a ReadProcessMemory or WriteProcessMemory request was completed.

I have searched every support site that I can think of and get zero hits that are similar.

I can't get any help from Microsoft because the OS is OEM version and the computer manufacturer doesn't have a clue what the problem might be.

A:Command Prompt (cmd.exe) error

Got run and type:
command
then click ok.
Command is a command file. Sounds like you may have something attached to the exefile open procedure.

If you are comfortable with your registry editing skills. Look here first.

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command

The default value when you double click the
default key is:
"%1" %*
(this includes the quotes)
If anything else is behind this you may have a virus.

If this is windows 2000 make sure that you don't have the lovsan worm or other variants that use the RPC vulnerability.

It seems that other than the 'dir' command, every command I run from my dos prompt, I get an "Access is denied." message.  Example:
C:\Users\aagha>ipconfig
Access is denied.

I've checked my UAC settings and made sure they're set to "Never Notify".

I've also tried to run sfc.exe, but can't:
C:\Users\aagha>sfc.exe
Access is denied.

Finally, I've tried to run cmd.exe as administrator, but no luck.
The one thing I've noticed is that if I go to cmd.exe's Properties and then the Security tab, I see that TrustedInstaller has Full control, but SYSTEM, Administrators and Users have only:

Read & execute andRead
I've tried to change permissions by editing, but when I do so, I get an "Access is denied" message.
I've run out of ideas on what else to try and would appreciate the help.

(Win32) Error 5 just means "access denied".

It sounds like you've lost all the administrative account credentials? In other words, you don't know how to log on as an admin? Is that the problem?

Whenever I open up a command prompt for any reason, this is the message I get:
"An Extended Memory Manager is already installed.
XMS Driver Not Installed."
Is there a specific reason this message? I'm not really sure if it has created any problems, but it seems like it has prevented some programs from running. Is this something that will cause problems? Is there something I can do to correct the problem?

Hi,
I'm trying to install a fix for an old program to run on my computer, running XP. I get to almost the end of the instructions and am supposed to activate the fix, which I have already inserted in the program file (Fractal Painter 4). But when I go to command prompt, instead of getting the expected "C:\>" I get "C:\Documents and Settings\Owner" and cannot delete it nor get the correct insert point. When I typed in the command to activate my program fix at the end of "...\Owner" it didn't work. How do I get just "C:\>" ? Thanks for any ideas!

Good Day!

This is my first post here in bleeping computer (technically second because I dropped a 'Hello' line for the new members thread) and I would first like to thank all active members and admins for giving countless hours to help others.

Now to my problem, I have been bothered for weeks by random popping of command prompts and saying that I have encountered an error in memory something something (I forgot the exact error message, I would post a screenshot once I get the error again). Just like 'pringles' once it pop... it never stop. The only way for it to stop is to reboot, although sometimes even if I reboot.. it comes back again and again and again. So, I decided to uninstall my corrupted AVG to install the latest version... only for me to find out that I can't uninstall it because an error keeps prompting on the uninstall screen. I also found out that I am the only one who can't access AVG's website. I managed to download the latest installer through CNET but I keep on getting a failed installation error for no clear reasons.

Here is the result of my dds.scr run:

My boot record needs replacement. I have given the bootrec command from the install CD a few times now and get the disk not found error. Is this drive beyond boot repair? Would one of the tools like the NTDLeader tool or Hirens etc at least recognize the HD?

If unbootable I'd at least like to start the process of getting some data transferred using a different HD.

At the System Recover options of the installer CD, I don't get anything in the window for operating system.

These errors occurred when trying to clone one drive to another with Clonezilla, a Linux tool used to copy disks. It contains an option which I thought to refresh the boot sector. Such a command should not have effected the source disk but who knows.
