Disable dead battery alert (x131e)?

Q: Disable dead battery alert (x131e)?

My Lenovo Thinkpad x131e is now used only to record TV shows off an antenna and is always plugged in. The battery died from old age a while back and I get a Lenono warning message in Windows 10 every time I boot the computer. The messaye is that the battery is dead due to normal use and cannot be charged (or something like that). Does anyone know how I can disable that message. It's not a huge deal as it only pops up once evey time the system is booted. But it would be nice to disable it as it will never again be used off the battery so it's nopt worth replacing itas I now use an x270 for those needs. Thanks for any help on this.Russell

Preferred Solution: Disable dead battery alert (x131e)?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

We have 280 X131e and X140e (AMD) notebooks that are 4 years old.  The Lenovo batteries in the units needed to be replaced.  Lenovo batteries cost approximately 36% more than the BTI batteries.  We order two specimen BTI batteries before placing an order.  The specimen batteries were tested over the course of a week to 10 days in the X131e and X140e systems running Windows 7.  There were no "not charging" messages during the testing.  In August of 2017, we started school with 260+ batteries installed in the X131e and X140e systems.  All appeared to be going fine until approximately 2-3 weeks in to the school year.  Each day approximately 3-5 students using the BTI batteries appeared and indicate that they charged their notebook overnight (or all weekend) but the BTI battery was still dead within the first hour of school or less.  So on any given day approximately 240 batteries are charging without issue overnight. The student notebooks that appear have the following symptoms: 1.  The BTI battery has a charge of 0-8% or less based on the information reported in both Lenovo Power Manager and Windows Power manager.2.  The units indicate in both the Lenovo and Windows power management applications that the charger and battery are present but that the battery is "not charging."3.  Known good systems, chargers and batteries have been used for all testing.  BTI has confirmed that 20 of the batteries sen... hi.

I want to disable this message :

Press F5 to Diagnose
I don't want to solve it but I want to disable alert message and system boot up without pressing F1.

A:Disable Alert message

There is no way to "disable" that messaging in the BIOS. What hardware changes did you make to the OptiPlex 9020 PRIOR to this boot message? Have you powered off, opened the case and reseated every cable?

when I turn on my computer I turn on my servers and then my desktop computer. Of course my desktop computer is faster so Windows Explorer always tells me it could not reconnect to the network drives (later they do connect) is there anyway I can turn that alert off?

Thanks.

A:Disable Network Alert?

I don't know how to disable the notification and I may have looked for this back in the Windows XP days and never found a solution. However I have an easy work around if your user name and passwords are the same on your server as the workstation.

Make short cuts to the mapped drives on your desktop, you can move them to your a place of your liking later. Open a command prompt and type:

Code:
net use * /d <enter>
net use /p:no <enter>
The code will remove your mapped drives and stop the machine from re-mapping them every time you log on. When you click on your shortcuts you will re-map the drive(s). Note: This will only work if the server is up and running, if the server is off or the server has not fully booted it will not work.

So, I thought I had this fixed when I managed to find a tweak for Windows 8 to disable the sticky corners. You set MouseClippingLength from 6 to 0. Seemed to the job. But it turns out, that didn't solve my problem completely. Along the right edge of the screen, there is an area that your cursor can fall into that is outside your full screen windows. It does not span the entire length of the right side, just the top 2/3, and it's 1-3 pixels in width. (I think 2.)

I've been googling all over the place and editing a lot of registry values to see if I can guess at it, but no luck. This ticks me off a great deal because I'm used to swinging my cursor all the way to the right to grab a hold of a scroll bar or close a window. I want it gone.

If anyone knows how to disable it, please let me know.
Edit: As it turns out, my second monitor (an HDTV that's turned off) wasn't working correctly, and I didn't even realize Windows 8 was trying to automatically use both monitors. My bad.

When I woke up this morning the full charge capacity was sitting 12.74 Wh and the battery only lasts 20mins. I've turned off battery charge thresholed and performed another guage reset but the battery full charge capacity has since declined to ~8 WH and is now down to 1.57 Wh. Can I recover from this or is the battery dead?

I own two new Dell Laptops, one a Precision workstation and the other an everyday Latitude, both running Win 7 Pro. Both have new batteries, so that's not an issue. Please do not suggest I check my battery. My system power settings are correct for both AC power and on battery, so that's not a problem either.
I replaced a Dell XP machine and an older Compaq machine running a Win 7 32 bit upgrade from Vista. Both of the older machines, upon reaching the preset low power settings limits, would open a pop up window on my desktop and alert me to either save my work and shut down or plug in the power cord. It would supersede and open on top of any work windows I had open. Both of the two new machines have no such pop open alert window and my computer often hibernates unexpectedly. Not a crisis, but a real pain when in the middle of work. I know that there are taskbar icon notifications and audible alert tones, but neither is useful for me. I must keep my computer muted when working and my taskbar is set to extreme hi-res with small icons, so you can't really notice the taskbar alert when concentrating on your work. Is the desktop pop open alert window gone forever, just turned off somehow, or what? Some one please advise. Thank you.

A:No Desktop Pop Up Alert for Low Battery

PS - I should explain. When I write "concentrating on my work", I mean that I create complex 3D solid models for expensive tooling and manufacturing businesses in a program which often is on top of the taskbar for screen optimization. They require my full attention and, as the result, the taskbar low power notification is pretty much useless for me. The desktop pop up window, which doesn't now open, worked great.

A:Dead Dell Battery

Yes, it happens. It depends on the battery, and whether you cycle it from full to dead often or not. The e1505 is also a budget model that eats battery life. If you want battery life, I would suggest that you get get an ultralight, not a low-end dell. =/

Sometimes freezing the battery will help... but make sure it's in a sealed bag with no moisture if you try it. You don't want to short it.

Hi guys, i need sone help with my battery....
I left my laptop on hibernation mode for 3 moths because i had to travel and i forgot to shut it down...
When I returned and used it again the battery said that is 0% connected and charging, but it isnt charging actually.
I try a few things I saw on youtube like:
Uninstalling the baterry drivers and turn it on again.
Unplugging the battery and plug it again.
Freezing the battery for 1 one covered in a plastic bag.
Nothing has worked yet and i dont want to buy a new one because i am sure i can save it .
My laptop is hp-dv6 and I am running windows 7.
I hope you can help me....thanks.

A:Dead battery mu06 hp

I would imagine that the battery is really dead. The firmware inside it does not like it going that flat.
The only thing I can think of is to keep trying it unplugging and re-plugging and hope to force enough charge to wake up the firmware, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Freezing will actually do it more harm than good - that trick only works for disks where the bearings have different expansion rates.

Hi everyone, Just wanted to report a problem I've been having with my Thinkpad Yoga 460 (core i5 6200U, 8 GB RAM - 20EMCTO1WW). After only 3 days of light use and a BIOS update to v1.40, I found that the laptop would only start when connected to the charger. In Windows 10, the battery gauge would show "99%, not charging" permanently. Importantly, the system does not seem to recognize that the charger is connected and thinks it is on battery. If I pull the charger, the laptop dies instantly. Also when I plug it back in, the charge indicator light flashes orange a couple of times for ca. half a second and then stays off, even when the laptop is on. First I suspected a software fault, and tried a lot of different permutations of uninstalling, re-installing and disabling the battery driver in the system manager, as well as the different Lenovo-branded system programs. The Lenovo Solutions app does always seem to display the same information about the battery, importantly with the charge cycle counter unchanged. None of it seemed to help. Growing desperate, I tried a different power supply (no difference). I also unscrewed the back plate and unhooked the battery cable. While then the system did not recognize the battery anymore, everything was back to the old, unrecognized state after it was hooked back in. I tried resetting the battery as recommended in this thread, but to no avail. I tried to downgrade to the BIOS version 1.18 (the one the laptop had bee... Read more

I've replaced them before. Depending on what you paid for the unit, it may be more cost effective to buy a new one. I took mine into a Batteries Plus type of a place, and they even installed it for me My APC UPS 650 was around $35 I think.

If it's still under warranty, APC will ship you a new unit, and you just put that one back in the box and return it to them. I did that a few years ago as well..not sure what their policy is currently.

One-year-old Dell laptop, Vostro 1500. Have always used it on AC adapter power. Today I decided to run the laptop from battery power so I could work in a different room. Only peripheral connected was a USB wifi card. Using Firefox 3 and Photoshop CS3, no other programs running. The battery died in about an hour. Moreover, although my power settings are supposed to have the system warn me when the battery reaches 30% and shut down when it reaches 15%, I received no notifications at all except for a beep immediately preceding total system shutdown. On retrieving the AC adapter, the computer did not exhibit any additional problems.

I changed the power settings to alert at 35% and hibernate at 25%.

I'm pretty sure this "never been used" battery was supposed to last a few hours at least, I mean after all, this is a "business" notebook.

Why on Earth did it die so fast? Is it time to buy a new battery (or whine to Dell's warranty department)?

Just bought the Elitebook Folio 1040 G2 from a Govt Resales shop. One year old, but looks unused - absolutely scratch free, the plastic is still on the touchpad and there's still a plastic NFC tag on it as well. Turned it on at home with the power cord in it, and noticed that the Battery wasn't charging.Looked at and followed all the Support advice:  ie. uninstalled the Microsoft battery software, took out the physical battery, pressed for a minute on the Power button, reinstalled battery, and rebooted, but still no charging. Checked the HP Support Assistant, which ran its test and said the battery was kaput and needed replacing. Two questions: 1) Is there any other solution?   2) Is this a common problem?  If so, then what the heck HP? I spent about five hours trying various permutations of the above.  That included having to buy a Torx T8 screwdriver and then having to remove 17 screws to take off just to remove the battery (11 to take off the back and 6 to take out the battery). The laptop is probably just out of warranty, but even so, the battery dying after one year of probably light use, with the resultant impost of an expensive new battery seems nuts, as does 17 screws to remove the battery.   Maybe I've just got a Friday model, but even so, the number of screws for the battery seems design madness.

The most common MB battery is a CR-2032 Lithium. Usually found at most Drug stores, WalMart, etc. Arround $2. That would be a cheap test to try first.

But also double check all your other power connections, but it could be the PSU failure , also.
