Q: Software to adjust Mp3 files volume?

I would like to increase an normalize songs volume on my Sony mp3 player. Apparently "Mp3gain" is the best, but it's not compatible with Windows 10. Any suggestions for a free alternative ?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So I installed some new Windows updates today (whatever was available via Windows Update). I restarted my computer to enable the updates. When it came back on, my task bar was white for some reason. I solved that problem using the first solution I found here: [SOLVED] Taskbar is white

Well I didn't change my volume before doing that, so I don't know if it worked before I followed that solution. I do know that after following that solution, my volume meter no longer shows up when I change the volume via the keys for it on my keyboard. This is pretty annoying because it was convenient to always see my audio level when I adjusted the volume.

I am on a HP Pavilion dv7-6c95dx with beats audio, running Windows 7 64-bit. When I changed my volume, the beats audio logo with a volume meter under it would pop up, but it no longer shows up. I haven't noticed any change in the quality of my sound, and I can still actually adjust the volume level. The problem is the volume meter no longer displays to show me the volume level.

If anyone has any clue as to why this happened, that would be great!

A:Volume meter no longer displays when I adjust volume level

Try rolling back any keyboard driver updates, or go to the keyboard manufacturers website and download most up to date driver(s) from there.

Hey guys,

I posted this earlier in the Multimedia thread but was told to post it here.

I have been having trouble with my sound this past week. Is stays at 100%. I try to slide my volume, but it quickly goes back to 100%. I don't know what the problem is. I have ran dxdiag and it says there are no problems found. My speakers are Conexant High Definition SmartAudio. I have tried pretty much everything: googling it, but no answers there.

I do believe my roommate has something to do with it. He went to high school for technology, and after a dispute over my music being too loud he said he would start to control my volume. Some time during the week, I had found my computer had mysteriously restarted. So this has led me to believe that he has installed a program, which allows him to control my volume. I want to make sure he's doing this, so he can face the consequences. I just need your help. Is there something installed in my computer? What can I do to get rid of it?

There's also another strange thing that occurred. After posting this in the Multimedia thread, my volume somehow became adjustable again. Weird. I now have a feeling he can see what I do on my computer, and realized I posted this? I am so confused. I just would like answers.

Thanks so much beforehand. My operating system is Windows Vista and I have an HP Notebook PC, if that helps.

I don't know how it happened, but recently, the sound has gotten all screwed up. It seems to be set to an unbearably low volume at maximum. I can hear the asterisk system sound, but the others must be too quiet to hear. I can hear my MP3s and some other sound files, but they are so soft I can't hear them well at all. even when WinAmp is set to 100% volume. Turning the knob on my speakers has no effect at all.

I can hear sounds online (such as the Crazy Frog movie: http://dd0s.org/~wooolf/crazyfrog/ ), but the volume is rather quiet.

Using the Volume Control, I find that nothing is muted, and everything is at maximum. I can lower the volume to make it even quieter, but I can't make it louder (since it's at maximum).

I am currently using NVIDIA nForce drivers (the most recent ones)...in fact, I just installed these new ones, hoping it would fix my problem, to no avail.

What can I do?

Have you given it a try by plunning headphones into the jack? Try to bypass all external amplification, it may be your speakers.

(Windows XP Home) When I attempt to adjust the volume using the slider on the Volume tab of the Sounds and Audio Devices section of the control panel, the volume gets louder as I drag the slider over, and then (without even releasing the mouse button), the volume automatically decreases as the slider moves to it's lowest position. It's as if the volume is pegged "low" elsewhere in the system, and the slider must reflect that value despite my trying to adjust it. TIA for any assistance.

you may need to reinstall your sound card drivers
go to control panel, then Sounds and Audio devices

and under Sound Playback, see if there's anything listed there
if not, chances are you need to reinstall those drivers

This may be an HP problem. I'm not sure. When I open the speaker settings, the display shows the volume set at 100%, yet, I can barely hear the soundtrack of a DVD I am watching just inches away. I have tried using the sliding volume at the top of the keyboard as well as the volume control in the media player, which will only increase volume to 50% in Windows Media Player. Still too low for me. I can lower (from 50%) or mute the volume- just not increase it. Has anyone else had this problem? I would love to know how to fix this. Thanks!

Did you right-click on the audio settings. The master volume may be maxed but all the other volumes lowered (this has happened to me before). If that's not the case, use the device manager to uninstall the speakers and then reboot (the speaker should reinstall)

Hi Photosky,
After going through the above mentioned thread’s link and also after you mentioned that you have reinstalled the drivers, lets perform another step here and I hope this helps.

Plug your headphone jack in the audio in port.
Right Click on the volume speaker icon on the bottom right hand side on the desktop..
Select Playback devices
Then right click on your headphone icon
Select properties
Go to the levels tab and set the volume as per your wish.
Click Apply / Ok

Now unplug the headphone and plug it back in and check if this helps. Awaiting for your response.

I'm running Windows XP Professional with Realtek HD Audio. In my Master Volume mixer when I go to "Options" and then "Properties" Realtek HD Audio Output is selected as the Mixer device and "Playback" is ticked. "Recording" is shaded. When I bring the volume adjusters up there's all the sliders and under each slider is a box marked "Mute". If I change the Mixer device to Realtek HD Audio input "Recording" is ticked and "Playback" is shaded. When I bring up the volume adjusters for recording there's the sliders, each with a box marked "Mute" underneath, except all of the sliders, except "Recording" are shaded out. "CD Volume" "Mic Volume" "Line Volume" and "Stereo Mix" are all shaded.

In Realtek's Mixer those devices don't even HAVE sliders.

Any ideas why I can't adjust my levels?

A:Not Able to Adjust Volume Levels in Mixer.

I'm not following you entirely, but have you tried (R) clicking on the "mute box" selection when it appears? Does the speaker icon in the task bar have a red "X" on it? Have you gone to "system" in the control panel...than selected 'hardware' to get a look at 'device manager' and what see what it's saying? On your sound mixer click on everything that has a red "x" on it. I'm not meaning to oversimplify, but I think you will discover an easy way out of this problem once you know how to handle the Window mixer console.

Can not access sndvol.exe to create a shortcut to allow keyboard to control volume.

I am using a Standard PS2 wired keyboard for my HP Elite 8000 system. Details in my signature.

I discovered the following and wish to implement with my basic keyboard:

1) click your start menu. Type ?sndvol? in the search box at the bottom
2) Right-click-drag the sndvol program icon to your desktop and select the ?Create shortcuts here? option
3) Right click on the new shortcut and hit properties
4) Go to the shortcut tab, and click inside the ?shortcut key? box.
5) Make your shortcut key combo. For example I use ALT + F12. Hit apply and OK to close the dialogue box.

Although I am Administrator, I am being blocked from shortcut key which indicated "None" at the moment, to make create a shortcut to do what is suggested in the above instructions.

Can anyone advise a way to unblock (allow) me; or a workaround to adjust my volume and add a mute button shortcut from my keyboard (preferably from the up/ down arrows on the numeric pad) without going to a third party software or a purchasing new keyboard?

Thanks in advance.

I couldn't find the exact drivers, except for a page here: http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SO...gmatel-STAC-92XX-Audio-Drivers-006-5682.shtml

If it is an addon sound card just search and download from the manufacture

This has been annoying me for quite some time now.. Whenever I plug in headphone to my Lenovo Yoga 500-14IBD, the Realtek Audio Manager does pop-up an annoying message that I connected headphones, but it does not adjust the volume accordingly. It's slowly driving me insane that I cannot find a solution to it. To my knowledge it has been default since a few years that laptops recognise and memorise different volumes for the headphone-jack or the internal speakers. I have found several topics on this, dating back to 2013 already even (like here), where this was possible with a single click in the Realtek Audio Manager. But then, years later, in this topic of 2018 it seems it is not possible anymore? I cannot find any of the suggested settings in the Realtek Audio Manager, nor in the Sound or Device settings. Under "Device advanced settings" I do have an option to separate the inputs as different devices, indicating to me that it is possible for the outputs as well! Does anyone know how to solve this once and for all?

Hi everybody,

My problem is that I cannot adjust the volume of video clips 'normally' when using Media Player Classic. Whenever I use this program, it does not allow me to increase/decrease the volume on my default volume scale, instead, it uses a built-in volume scale and therefore forces me to use that stupid scale.

How can I disable this annoying feature of Media Player Classic so that I can adjust the volume as normally as when I use other programs.

Thanks in advance!

A:Adjust volume in Media Player Classic

1. Open Media Player Classic > View > Options > Playback > Output > Change to either your sound card name or DirectSound then apply.

2. Open up my computer

3. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\yourloginname\Application Data\

4. Delete the Media player classic folder

5. Restart.

I have been searching different forums where the speaker icon has disappeared from the notification area of the task bar, but have not found a solution to the particular problem I am experiencing. In my case the speaker icon is still visible but when I click on it, I no longer get the vertical bar which allows me to adjust the volume. I have made no recent changes to my computer and cannot understand why this has suddenly happened. I have gone to taskbar properties and tried turning the volume icon on and off but this has not cured the problem.

I have discovered the problem I am experiencing is limited to my user account only. I have one other named account and a guest account. The other user is able to adjust the volume from the speaker icon on the notification bar, and when I log into the guest account I find it is also working perfectly. However, when I log into my user acount it does not work. Somehow the file sndvol32.exe got deleted and I can no longer adjust the sound volume for anything but my speakers. This probably happened when I was trying to troubleshoot a weird echoing sound that I got when playing World of Warcraft. Now, I can't update, or even install any of my new sound drivers for Soundblaster Live! Value (PCI card) or Realtek'97 (onboard soundcard). I can't reinstall, update or repair windows due to some error that says something occured and it shutdown setup to protect my computer. Awesome.

Details:
When I try to unistall my SB LIVE drivers and use my onboard soundcard, windows starts automatically reinstalling the SBL drivers anyways. The only issue I run into using my onboard soundcard drivers is that I can't adjust sound volume for anything other than my speakers because it's missing sndvol32.exe.

Trying to update SBL is like going to hell and back. I let windows do its thing and install the drivers it currently has in my drive, then when I try to update from Creative's website, I get an error that their creative playcenter could not be found. But it clearly has installed the playcenter because it shows up in the control panel.

I'm going in circles and I'm going to go insane.

Hi Sebboh, Have You Tried Searching For The File??

...in other locations on your computer?? If you have an "I386" folder on your "C" drive, open the "I386" folder. There should be a "Sndvol32.exe" file that is backed up there.. You should be able copy and paste the Sndvol32.exe file from there to the C\Windows\System32 folder where it belongs.

If that doesn't work Try System Restore ...

or find a Windows XP CD, or find somebody with a working Windows XP and a diskette or USB drive to copy the file.

I'm trying to write a simple batch file that would mute or turn down the volume at startup. The idea is to stop the obnoxious MS startup tune when booting up in a place where I don't want attention; i.e. on a plane, in a meeting, classroom, etc. As a techie I'm way too lazy and forgetful to mute the sound before logging off everytime and would much rather write a complicated script to do this.

ps. why don't laptop makers install the old toggle volume switches?? click=on, off.. it would be such a simple solution to this..

Not only that, it's as if I'm in safe mode, because I can't connect to the Internet or adjust the volume, but I'm not in safe mode, because everything's not blown up. Can someone please help me out? I'm losing my mind.

A repair install or restore from a backup before the problem started. You have one right??

This problem has started in recent weeks (yes, too far back to do System Restore):

When I reboot, if I click on the speaker icon in the Notification Area, it tells me that Windows Audio is not running (and so no media app will produce any sound). However, if I then raise or lower the volume via my multimedia keyboard, Windows Audio starts running.

This is despite the fact that in Services, the Startup Type of Windows Audio is Automatic. So why doesn't it start on reboot?

A:Windows Audio Service doesn't start until I adjust volume

Does Event Viewer have entries related to that service?

Does anyone have any idea on how to correct a problem I am having with my deaCentre A520? All of the sudden I can no longer use the touch buttons on the bottom of the screen. They light up when touched - HDMI, brightness, volume, etc - but they no longer work. I have been running Windows 10 for sometime now - I doubt it is a software issue with MS. Any idea on how to correct this issue? I can use the touch screen just fine - just not the control buttons on the bottom of the screen. Thanks.

I found this software called ParkControl free to download at

https://bitsum.com/about_cpu_core_parking.php

Does adjusting the setting of core parking improve performance? Does it damage the processor?

A:Software to help you adjust core parking without regedit

No it does not improve performance. If you were using those parked cores, they would not be parked to begin with. And when you do use them, they unpark without delay.

Second, can it damage the processor? Unlikely but possible. A parked core is sleeping, using very little energy and generating little heat. An unparked core will use more energy and create more heat.
Nothing more then snake oil. Fiddling around with core parking will do nothing concerning performance.

Using the laptop on battery, when I press on F11-12, the brightness meter is shown on the upper left like usual, but it won't move up or down.  Yet I think it's strange that all other places I can adjust brightness are fine, and especially strange that everything is working totally fine on AC power.
I tried uninstalling the Generic PnP monitor and reinstalling, but to no results.  Also, both my power settings on battery and on power indicate no adaptive brightness.

WAY new to win 7... think i made a damn mistake buying Windows HOME Premium .. the restrictions didnt seem to matter for my needs.. but the User Control seems way limited.

All i want to do is change the properties of a file under C:\Program Files (x86)... ( specifically.. i want to go under the Security tab.. and Deny..read and execute on it )

again.. just a fyi.. i have Windows 7 home premium ( sry im unemployed and the oem was cheap )..

i Did create the adminstrator account w/ the net use command..

Logging into the ADMIN account.. it doesnt allow me to make the change.. I want to make a change in the security tab of a file.. to DENY it to execute.

I also have the indexer turned off.. ( had superfetch off also.. ( im coming from Vista x64 ).. but turned it back on.. odd that my system almost seemed to go faster w/ it OFF..rofls )... sry side tracked.. I was logged in as admin also.. to undo the indexing flag on all the files under c:\.. that didnt work either.... granted i have disabled the index service.. so shouldnt really matter on the index attribute right?

ok back on track .. am i missing something that i need to do after i log in as admin to change this file attribute?.. is C:\Program Files (x86) a special case on rights?.. do i need to create a c:\apps and install the program there.. to allow myself to do it?.. kinda like how Worldofwarcraft wanted to be put in a completly different location in Vista for rights issues.

so just to reiterate.. this is doing thi... Read more

I'm using a Lenovo laptop with integrated intel graphics, I'm also using an Acer B223W attached as an external display. There is an issue with the monitor where there is a four inch black bar running down the right side. Basically the display is shifted four inches to the left, leaving me with four inches of unusable monitor real estate on the right. I've trouble shot it, to no avail and the monitor's display settings only allow me to shift the monitor's display an inch or so. I need something like catalyst control center that will allow me to shift the monitor's picture as much as I'd like. Any ideas?

TL;DR

I need a piece of software that will allow me to shift my monitor's display pixel by pixel. I have integrated intel graphics.

Hello. I am playing a game which uses midi files for background music. Unfortunately, the midi playback volume is ALWAYS maxed out, such that it drowns out voices. Is there a way to adjust the audio balance so that the midi volume is quieter than other sounds? I remember windows XP had a bunch of audio balance options (left/right speaker, wave, midi, etc...):

http://i.imgur.com/9BdlE.png

but win7 only has left and right balance. Help?

A:Any way to adjust MIDI playback volume? MIDI playback way to loud!

Haven't heard the term MIDI used for a long time.
Did you scroll down in the speaker volume popup? If you have more than two speakers defined, there should be a scroll bar on the right.

I need a program that will allow me to boost the volume of songs I am creating by recording off the mic/line in (going from cassette to mp3 - eventually). Right now I get a wav file with volume too low. Prefer a shareware/freeware software booster so ignore the external $25 headphone amplifiers.

Hello,

I have always wanted a piece of software that when I change the volume via the keyboard it gives me a notification above the volume Icon on the task bar. (see pictures below)

An example of this would be on a mac, When you change the volume or the screen brightness it brings an overlay with that information on it. below is a link to what I am talking about.

Today when I muted my volume it came up with a bar notifying me the volume was muted and it is something exactly like what I would want to see when changing the volume. here is a link of the notification. (I don't know why it came up today, I didn't change anything and I use my mute button on my keyboard all the time)

Do you know of any programs to do this? and what is what I am looking for commonly called?

And in general does anyone know of a program that does this for more then just volume, such as screen brightness.

Please if you have anything let me know!!!

Nathan

I think this would be comparable to dell quickset? - This is all the information I have found on it.

Is there any software with that purpose?

I already know how to increase the volume and all that, i just want to know if there's any software that can boost the volume beyond the max.

Thanks

A:Software to boost volume

some media players, for example vlc, allow you to set the volume up to 400%, but only for playing back audio and video.

i'm unaware of anything that will boost the volumes of games, or the windows sounds - this would probably just introduce unwanted distortion anyway.

all i can suggest for these is a hardware solution - a bigger amplifier or louder speakers.

I have recently, over the last year or so, made a documentary that now is competing in national level contest. I've made some final adjustments to it, as the judges asked, but I've run into a problem. Some of the volume is not equal with the rest. Is there any software that I can get that will automatically adjust that problem for me? I really hate Pinnacle Studios 14 so I'm trying to avoid using that forsaken program. If need be I might have to bite the bullet and do it. If you know of any software please leave directions on how to do it. Thanks.

A:Software to Equalize all Volume?

You have to break it off as a .wav file or aiff and run it through Levelator and then add it back to the video to really get a good job of it done. I've used it on audio with a variance of at least 30dB and it makes it all very "listenable" without wanting to strangle yourself.

Two ways maybe to get the audio only from Pinnacle 14. First try loading the video as normal and in Make Movie choose Audio as file type and WAV 48kHz preset...and see if you get a WAV file only. If that doesn't work right maybe try dragging the video down to the audio track, if all goes well the video should then be gone and you only get the audio (again output as audio WAV file).

Then run that file through Levelator and take the results and lay it back in on the audio track with the video, pull the audio level that's still attached to the video down to zero and adjust the audio track for overall level. Hopefully by aligning the video and audio track to the far left it will still be a perfect match so you don't have to try to make any micro adjustments to get the video and audio in sync. Then make the video into a new video to join the updated audio and you should have it.

If you remember when "Musicmatch" was still around.

They had a feature with in their software that would allow you to level the volume on your library so that when one song is playing you wouldn't have to crank it up to hear it while when the next song is playing your not having to break your neck to turn the volume back down.

Well I am sure you know when Yahoo took them over that feature went in the garbage can.

And when that happened I quit dealing with Yahoo. Since then I have been buying my songs from itunes though even then some songs the volume is real low while others its through the roof.

Is there something out there that I can either download or order. Because the local chain stores (Best buy, and circuit city) apparently don't stock software of this nature, because they didn't know what I was looking for.

A:Volume Leveling Software.

most audio playback programs can do some form of normalization (iTunes does WMP does). It won't change your file any but will help when listening to it on your comp. The only program I've seen mentioned on here with any regularity for fixing volume issues on MP3's is MP3Gain, which as it happens is an open source program you can get for free.

Is there any software to show (on screen, in the middle bottom or right bottom for example) if the volume is changing, and maybe also could show the number in the tray between 0-100, whatever the volume is?

Is there any mute command in Windows that I can use to create a dll for Logitech G930 Wireless Headset?
(I don't know why, this wireless headset has no mute button. Why do you think they didn't put that button? Can there be a technical reason, or is it just not to change the design or something?)
