I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I just purchased a T520 laptop. It seems pretty great but unfortunately I opted for the 15.6" HD (1366x768) screen.I'd love to upgrade but have no idea of the best way to go about doing this. The best option I've found is to buy the 15.6" FHD (1920x1080) screen on ebay and replace it myself. Is the T520 40 pin? Is this a good approach? Thanks for any advice!

I have a 42 inch Sharp LCD TV, and a Lenovo T500 laptop running windows 7 as my main OS. I use VGA to connect to my TV. Any attempt to display 1920 by 1080 on my TV results in my TV telling me to switch to 1600 by 1200 because the video mode is not supported. 1920 by 1080 works fine on windows XP, same machine, same TV.

Games would not run well at 1920 by 1080, so I've ignored it up till now (because I tried several times and cannot get it to work). I like 1920 by 1080 for writing code though. Any way to fix this?

A:Lenovo T500 + VGA output = 1920 by 1080 not possible?

You say it works in XP, so go into XP and check what refresh rate you have it set to at 1920 x 1080.

Go back into Win 7 and set the same refresh rate for the tv at 1920 x 1080 and see if that does the trick.

I'm hoping someone can help me.  I'm a photographer so it's really important that my images look right! When my computer had Microsoft Vista (up until last week), my HP 2311x monitor was able to display 1920x1080 pixels.  Then I upgraded it to Windows 8.1, and now the highest resolution available is 1280x1024 -- which makes my photos look all stretched out horizontally. In Device Manager, the driver is listed as HP 2311 Series LED Backlit LCD Monitor, version 2.2.0.0, dated 7/25/2013.  I'm connected by a VGA cable, which is what I've always had.  I'd be happy to answer any other questions about my setup. I've tried adjusting the resolution through the Windows desktop interface, and I've also tried the various controls that are built into the monitor.  No luck. Can you give me any suggestions, please?

Symptom(s):
Users may be unable to use the native resolution of some displays when using Intel? chipset graphics. Resolutions such as 1920x1080, 1680x1050, and 1440x900 are not available in graphics properties.

Cause:
The display's EDID is not read properly when connecting to a subset of digital flat panel displays. Display devices describe its capabilities by sending EDID (Extended Display Information Data) to the computer.

Solution:
Intel has released a graphics driver to specifically address this issue; however, there may be side effects to this solution such as longer than normal resume times from standby. This solution will only work with external displays such as DFP displays connected to the computer's VGA port. This driver is not designed to address issues with a notebook's built-in display (Local Flat Panel) or with TV’s connected to the system. This driver is provided as is. Intel has not tested, and does not guarantee, the operation of the driver for this purpose.

Currently my monitor has a max of 1680 x 1050, but I think I should be able to get 1920 x 1080...
My monitor is a 22" widescreen and my video card is a GT 430, and I'm using VGA, I think that's the problem, the VGA, I want to switch to DVI but I ran into a problem...

My two cables that are DVI that I have are outdated I think, they have this plugin on them (The DVI-D Single Link)

But then my monitor has the (DVI-D Dual Link)
And my graphics card has the (DVI-I Dual Link)

There's a picture here, which is where I got the names from, which is how I know about them.
I guess what I'm really asking is if I change to DVI can I do 1920 x 1080, and is it possible to buy a cable to fit my monitor and graphics card?

I just got a ViewSonic HD monitor to use with my Samsung notebook (using Windows XP). It says to choose the setting 1920 X 1080 and when I go to do that, I get only two choices for display.

#1 says (Multiple Monitors) on NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS -- and only goes up to 1280 X 800.

#2 says ViewSonic VX2250 SERIES on NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GS -- it DOES give an option for 1920 X 1080. However, if I choose this, it makes it a second monitor IN ADDITION to my laptop whereas all I want is for the monitor to show just what the laptop is showing. I have it set that way on my laptop (LCD + CRT clone).

What can I do to just have the monitor show what's on the laptop, but still go to the 1920 X 1080 setting?

THANKS for your help!

Hi,I have a T540P onto which I recently installed a fresh copy of Win8.1 So far, mostly so good, but there is one nagging problem. The laptop is docked and hooked up to a Samsung 23" monitor and when I right click on the desktop and choose 'screen resolution,' the highest resolution that it will let me choose is 1280x1024. I want to set the resolution to 1920x1080. According to the device manager the display adapter is 'Intel(R) HD Grpahics 4600'. I tried updating that driver and the update was successful but it didn't seem to make any difference. I also downloaded and installed the Nvidia driver from the Lenovo support site but that also didn't help. Actually, though there were no errors, I still see the Intel HD Graphics driver in device manager so I'm no even sure if the NVidia driver was installed.Anyway, can anyone point me in the right direction here? Thanks!

I am looking for a new 24" lcd monitor. I never watch DVD or Blu Ray on my computer.

Is there any advantages to having the 1920x1080 over the 1900x1200 standard for computing and photography work?

I currently use 1900x1200 and have been very satisfied with it so far.

Many thanks,

A:1920 x 1080 vs 1900 x 1200 lcd

Heh in many cases there is a MAJOR advantage to monitors that do 1920x1200 instead of 1920x1080

The 1080 "monitors" are actually using LCD TV panels . Much lower quality, color acuracy, etc (generally matched by much lower prices).

So I'd stick to a decent 1920x1200 monitor. One that was for sure made to work for computer imaging and has the full color range LCD panels.

A:Is it possible to run game at 1920*1080 resolution in 18.5 inch LED

LCD monitors have a fixed pitch also know as their native resolution. To get the best picture quality you need to run an LCD monitor at its native/recommended resolution. Anything else is likely to cause distortion. A larger LCD monitor usually has more pixels per inch and thus will have a higher resolution. That Dell monitor you linked to runs at 1366 X 768 at 60Hz. I wouldn't try to run it at 1920 X 1080. For that resolution I'd look for a monitor that supports 1080P.
I run an LG E2242T-BN Flat Panel on my Media center PC and it's 1080P. You'll likely need a 21 or 22 inch screen.

I've searched for all other similar issues but they are not relative to this one.
I installed Windows 7 x64 on my new pc. It has an i7 930 and an Gigabyte ATI HD5670, and I'm using and LED-TV LG monitor (23'', E2350V). My problem is that the monitor's maximum resolution is 1920 x 1080, and when I visit settings the maximum I can set is 1600 x 1200. I went to the Catalyst Center and set the maximum value to 1920 x 1080 but nothing happened. I installed all new drivers (the drivers for the monitor don't work with Windows 7 x64 but LG says it's plug and play and no drivers are needed).
I also connect the monitor with a VGA cable, cause the case has a weird configuration and all my HDMI cables are too big. Is that why? Please help.

Hi guys, I have a little netbook, a Gateway LT Series. 2 GB RAM, and an Intel 3100 GMA Graphic Cards. Plus a Samsung SyncMaster 2494 @ FHD.

The problem is the following: I get to see how the picture on my monitor (the Samsung's) gets distorted at any resolution, except when is as low as 800 x 600.

When I talk about distorted I mean, that image shakes badly giving some white and black strips all over the screen.

How I don't get the image distorted:
- When I unisntall the graphic card drivers, and only install the VGA one (Giving me at top, 1600 x 1200 res.)
- When I do an extended display, (It doesn't matter which monitor I chose as primarly).

What can actually be the problem?
I've re-installed the drivers with the Intel's and Gateway's (which both are the same), and get the same result.

Thanks for the help.

P.S: It is not the cable, since I've tried with my Xbox 360 using the VGA via the same cable and it worked perfectly.... IMO it seems that the Video Card is giving problems...

I have a similar issue with my Samsung 2233SW: Sometimes when my system boots up, my screen resolution is wrong (It defaults to "Non-Pnp VGA Monitor" or something similar) and the highest resolution I can choose, even in advanced/list all modes is usually 1600 x 1200, which just looks weird in widescreen. If I reboot once or twice it will suddenly "fix" itself and recognize the Samsung properly.

When I first installed Windows 7, I did not install the driver from the Samsung disk, because it already correctly recognized it and all of its supported display modes. However, when I first had this problem, I decided to go ahead and install the driver from the disk and it helped... for about a week, then started doing it again. I also do not have CCC installed, but when I installed it, it didn't seem to help, since it will not allow me to select modes that it thinks are not supported by my "VGA" monitor.

So.... is there a way to FORCE my system to use 1920 x 1080 x 32 @60Hz, even if it thinks my monitor can not support it?

Thanks in advance!
Russell

p.s. I even re-installed Windows 7 because I thought that would get rid of the problem, but it soon re-appeared. It seemed to start after one of the updates, but I don't know which one (You can imagine how many megabytes of updates got downloaded upon a fresh install of Windows 7!). Probably the ATI update?

A:way to FORCE my system to use 1920 x 1080 x 32 @60Hz

You need to look at two things here - video card drivers and monitor drivers. Please make sure you have the latest drivers for both.

You can get the latest video card drivers for your card here - ATI Video Card Drivers

Samsung monitor drivers here - Samsung

Also according to this the native resolution of that monitor is 1920 x 1080 so it should be defaulting at that res - http://www.samsung.com/us/system/con..._Final_908.pdf

Why won't my laptop boot with the RAM upgrade?

Mate, the difference between a 18 inch monitor and a 21 inch monitor, is quite literally, 3 inches. What resolution a monitor will support is not the same as how big it is.

You cannot run 1920x1080 on that monitor, because your monitor only supports 1366x768, it has nothing to do with your pc configuration.

I have a Samsung Series 6 LED TV 46-inch, which fully supports 1080p. So, I am trying to output my laptop (system specs) at 1080p via HDMI. The TV recognizes my computer, and displays it. When I go to 'Screen Resolution' and select 1080p for my TV, it outputs, but it outputs a bigger screen than I can see. Meaning, a sizable portion of the taskbar and gadget space (right side of the screen) is cutoff. But, the full screen is being used so... Well, I'm just stuck. Help would be appreciated as I want to watch movies via HDMI on my TV.

Thanks,
Slasher

A:Output 1920 x 1080 resolution to Samsung Series 6 LED TV

That's the "overscan" area being cut off..

Some TVs allow you to turn off overscan, but then on normal TV you will see the Closed Captioning data and other tweaky stuff...

So the preferred way is to have the video driver "shrink" the image area. Ususualy there is a page on the video card control panel for "sizing" the display. What it does is lower the actual display resolution by a few pixels on all sides but still outputs the full 1080P to the monitor, that way you can fit the entire screen on the TV.

So hopefully you have at least one of those options to work with.

Any recommendations on PCI video cards that support 1920 x 1080 resolution? Got a 22 inch full HD 1080p monitor but have an older machine (only has PCI slots). Running Windows XP.

I can't get my W540 to output more than 1080 x 1920. It has a K1100M in it, it is driving teh external monitor accrding to the Nvidia Control Panel. I am trying to connect to a Samsung 4K TV.One active adapter from Startech works, but it seems to be limited to 1080 x 1920. The Nvidia Control Panel only shows drop down choices up to 1080 x 1920  at 60 Hz. I tried 2 other adapters that claim to be able to go to 4K at 60 Hz, but when I hot plug them into the W540 the screen goes black and starts blinking on and off. If I start it up with the adapter connected, the flashing black screen starts as soon as I log on.Any ideas?

A:Upgrading my Lenovo B51-80 1366 X 768 screen to a ...

Hi Ashish,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

The B51-80 supports a Full HD display. You can order the necessary parts from Lenovo.

As per the Hardware maintenance manual below are the Full HD lcd part numbers:

FHD FRu - 5D10H15380
FHD FRu - 5D10J45879
FHD FRu - 18201585

If you could able to do it yourself then it?d void your warranty.Maybe consider sending it back and re-ordering it with a FHD panel? Hence, for better hardware assistance, please visit the nearest service center

Let us know how you get on.
Regards,
Shashi

I am considering to buy 5th generation Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Intel Core i7-7500U-processor (20HR002MMD). Currently the following displays are available: A. 14.0" FHD (1920 x 1080) 300 nitsB. 14.0" WQHD IPS (2560 x 1440) 300 nits available in Summer 2017 Questions:1. Is there a noticeable difference between display A and B in practice?2. If I buy display A (1920 x 1080) is it then possible to have a screen resolution of (2560 x 1440) on my external UHD Monitor? Thank you in advance.

I have a brand new ThinkCentre M720T (i3-8300) connected to a new LG 29WK600-W via DP->HDMI cable. The ideal resolution for this monitor is 2560x1080 but both the generic Win10 graphics control panel and the Intel UHD graphics control panel are topping out at 1920x1080 (even when using the custom resolution option). The spec sheet for this machine found in the "Specifications" section at the bottom of this pagehttps://psref.lenovo.com/Product/ThinkCentre/ThinkCentre_M720_Towerindicates it supports resolutions up to "4096x2304 (DP)@60Hz; 2048x1536 (VGA)@50H." The graphics driver on this machine is currently 24.20.100.6287. I have run Lenovo's update (indicated this was the latest driver) and have attempted to update to DCH 25.20.100.6519 using the .exe file from Intel's website. The latter errors out with a message along the lines that my PC manufacturer does not support / recommend this driver so it fails to install. What do I need to do to get my machine to output resolution at 2560x1080?!

A:M720T w/ UHD630: Can't update to latest driver, resolution tops out at only 1920 x 1080

What is the make, model number, and the specs of the DP->HDMI cable?  Is it capable of more than 1920x1080?

Hello Everyone, This Forum was very helpful when I was setting up a docking station for 3 external monitors - thank you. In the end, the T430s continues to work well, where using the DisplayPort outputs (+ VGA?) on my docking station, I can get 3 external monitors to run at 1920 x 1080. I am now interested in higher resolution, however - at least 2560 x 1440 or if possible, 4K.  (My understanding is that higher than 1920 x 1080 will limit me to 2 external monitors vs 3 but that's OK.) Here is where I need help: Using 28" Samsung 4K monitors, I am able to drive 2 external monitors at 2560 x 1440, using 2 DisplayPorts (on dock) to DisplayPort connections on the monitors. Experimenting with a bigger, 55" 4K screen however does not work : ( Becauser the bigger screen has only HDMI and no DisplayPort.    (I tried a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter, but it did not work either - apparently the adapter constrains the display to 1920 x 1080)  Can anyone please help?  Is there an active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter that will pass 2560 x 1440 or higher? Can I somehow use the DVI ports on the dock to drive 2560 x 1440?  Could the new X1 with a 2560 x 1440 native resolution do a better job? In summary, 1) I want to use at least 2 and possibly 3, 55" 4K screens, which have HDMI inputs only 2) Display at least 2560 x 1440 - hopefully with future ability to 4K 3) Would rathe... A:T430s / Nvidia - Higher Resolution than 1920 x 1080? With 2-3 External Monitors and HDMI

your external monitor requires HDMI 1.4 port to drive the 4K resolution, as far as i know there is no Displayport to HDMI 1.4 converter on the market. The DVI ports on the dock is single link only, so it can't drive the 2560x1440 resolution you require. The new X1 Carbon Gen 2 has HDMI 1.4 and can drive the screen at 4K. But it has only one HDMI 1.4 port, so you are limited to driving one 4K LCD at this resolution.
