Q: Yoga 510-14IKB - Problems with fan and speed after BIOS-Update

Hello, first of all sorry for my bad englisch.Yesterday evening I updated my BIOS from the version 2.0 to the version number 2.04.After the update I had multiple problems with the laptop. The sound didnt work anymore and the laptop was very slow and sometimes didnt even react. So I decided to use the "system recovery" on windows to see if it that would help. A few problems were solved by resetting the system but I now have problems with the fan. The volume has increased by alot. I barely could hear the fan before the problems with my laptop started. I also have the fealing that the laptop is slower in generell then it used to be, since the BIOS-Update.I hope somebody can help me. with kind regards

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, today I have updated bios of my Yoga 710-14IKB  to 2XCN38WW(V2.12) and the computer has gone crazy. It is noticeably slower (it is slow even when just watching some photos) and the ventilator starts running fast since I turn on the laptop. Windows 10 (1803 build 17134.285)Intel Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.70GHzRAM 8GB64bit Is there a way how I could provide more information about the problem?I would appreciate information on how to rollback to older BIOS or another way how to make it run as yesterday? Thank you, Tom

Hi,The other day I entered the SW updates page and saw the BIOS update 4QCN48WW(V2.12).I installed it and since then I notice than when i shutdown the PC it makes an awful noise, quite loud (it is very similar to when you plug/unplug a loud speaker to a HIFI system like a loud crack). It happens when it finishes totally to shut down.I am sure that the noise was not present before. Also I have 2 laptops of same model, the other one (i didn't upgrade) doesn't make this noise. For sure, i will not upgrade it.Am i the only one having this issue? What should i do? Is there a way to roll back the BIOS? In the page i can only see the new version of BIOS. Thanks in advance,Kind regards,

Hey. I bought my Yoga 520-14IKB (Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256gb NVMe SSD, GeForce 940MX) 2 month ago, had no problems, till last week. Now sometimes i experience such a strange behaviour. Mainly i work on my laptop in normal mode, and sometimes, during such work, it can false trigger a tablet mode for a few (2-3) seconds (notification appers), which causes the keyboard to switch off for this time, despite the fact, that it still stands as a normal laptop, not even close to position, which triggers the yoga mode. How can i fix this? System is Windows 10 April 2018 Update, have all the latest drivers and latest version of BIOS.

Hello!I am trying to find out if DisplayPort is supported on the following two models: - Yoga 710-14IKB (80V4003LMX)- Yoga 900S-12ISK (80ML000RMX) I need to drive UHD TVs (4K at 60fps) and various high resolution displays using DisplayPort (HDMI 1.4 only supports 4K at low refresh rates).  It seems to be difficult find out looking through the documentation provided by Lenovo. Hi there

This is just a quick question really. I have a client at work who has a HP laptop. He had some driver problems and sent it to HP. They then flashed the BIOS but ever since then he said the fan has been really noisy.
As i write this i have forgotten the model NO but i know its a laptop.
When i read the BIOS update description it said something about the BIOS will put the fan into a low volume state when the laptop is in use but its like that isn't working.
Does anyone know anything?. It seems to be plastered all over the web and some have cured it with Speed fan etc but they don't seem to work on his PC.
We have looked at cleaning and also adjusting the speed in the BIODS but he says there is no option and unfortunately i can see the BIOS. He said ti was called F.40 if anyone knows.
Any help would be great as we seemed to have tried a lot and other have said about the same thing so if you could suggest anything it would be brilliant.

A:HP fan speed after BIOS update

'Does anyone know anything?.'

Not a lot, really.

BUT, most Bios settings that affect temps/fan speeds are obvious and can be targetted as either AMD or Intel processor management related to heat and cpu activity accompanied with motherboard manufacturer fan control options.

Get the manual - read it.

I just got this laptop on Feb. 2016, the HP support assistant specs showed 4 GB RAM at 800 Mhz, after the BIOS update is now showing 4 GB RAM at 1600 Mhz.  The manual says the max speed is 1333 Mhz.  Can someone explain this? I want to upgrade the RAM and need to know if the OEM RAM is salvageable?

A:Confusing RAM speed after BIOS update

Hi, It runs dual channels therefore 800MHz and 1600MHz mean the same thing (800MHz dual or double = 1600MHz). But due to slower chipset, it automatically downgrade from 1600MHz to 1333MHz. (similar to driving a fast car on a speed limited road). Regards.

Hi MichaelG4,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

There is only one port available to accommodate storage on this model.
Storage specification: M.2 slot,  2.5-inch, NGFF, 128 GB / 256 GB, SATA II/SATA III (Lenovo YOGA 710-14ISK/Lenovo YOGA 710-14IKB) (page 6 on the hardware manual)

On this model, an external USB SSD storage drive can be the most practical and useful tool for added files which is would also allow transferability to different work PC.

Hope this help answer your query.

Hey, guys!
Not sure, if this is right section.. But when ever I turn on my pc I get messige saying that I need bios update in order to use CPU at full speed. Problem is that I already have the newest version of BIOS that there is for my motherboard.
So I wanted to ask - is there a way to still use my cpu full speed without update (bypassing that error messige or what ever is it supposed to be; manualy add driver for cpu or what ever is needed to run it at full speed; or something else).

I bought new CPU cause my old one was slow. But now because of BIOS runing it on safe mode - my new cpu feels even slower..

A:BIOS Update required to run CPU at full speed?..

Can you list you mother board & processor?
I'm going gt take an educated guess & say your motherboard does not fully support your CPU.

I scanned my system on the Dell site and it was recommended that I do a bios update. I flashed the bios, as per the directions on the site (or rather, let the site do it since I am not really computer savvy), and the laptop runs much better than before except that the fan runs at nearly high speed most of the time. I read somewhere on the net that settings get changed when you upgrade a bios and you need to go into the bios (I think, that's what it was) at start-up and reconfigure that but I'm not sure exactly what had to be done or how to do it, and unfortunately, I didn't bookmark the site and can't find it now. Any suggestions on how to do this? I don't think there is anything wrong with my fan because this problem only started after I flashed the bios. Also, I didn't realize that when I flashed the bios that my anti-virus program (Avast) was running. Does this make a difference or would windows just suspend that while the bios was being flashed? I'm running Win 7. Thanks for any info.

Hey everyone! Recently I'm thinking about how to use two operating systems on my Yoga without the need of dualboot. After some research I found out that many mainboards aren't able to boot from USB 3.0 or upwards. Since USB2 is way too slow for a decent performance, I'd like to refrain from that as an option. Been checking the UEFI and have only seen the option boot from USB, which does not specify if it's able to boot from USB3.0 (that has often to be differentiated). Now, I don't own a external ssd with USB 3, so I cannot test that myself. So, does the Yoga 510-14IKB support booting from USB 3.0 devices? Kind regards,kazumo P.S.: Does anyone know the technical aspect to why booting from USB 3.0 is not available everywhere? Been trying to figure it out and so far I don't see a reason why, since USB 3.0 has two lanes, one of which is equal to a USB 2.0

Hello,  I have a lenovo yoga 520 14IKB, 120 GB SSD, 8 GB ram and NO HDD. As I recently had Wifi connection issues, I opened the computer to fix that (the cable popped out after a pretty rough plane ride). While in there, I saw that I had a SSD, as stated before. but I also saw that i have a unused space to put in another HDD/SSD. I believe that the SSD used in my system is a m.2 sata SSD (I am not  really sure as I am not really familiar with computer hardware), and it is located directly behind the connector for the 2.5 inch drive bay thing. The question now is wether or not I can simply install an HDD into that bay, and use it alongside the boot SSD to use it to store photos, documents etc. I should probably also mention that in sopace of a harddrive or 2.5 inch ssd, there was a "ciuya hdd dummy brk" in the drive bay. I hope to get quick answers, Thanks.

Hello, I came here to ask Lenovo Staff for any feedback. Week ago I've bought Yoga 710. After few days of use its front left corner went up, it became unstable on flat surface. Pads aren't the problem and everything is fine if notebook is closed. I left it open with some book to keep it flat over night to see if it helps, it did but only for a while. I've search through this forum if anyone had such issue and Lenovo Support members claimed several times that it should be returned as this is covered by warranty. Sides are stiff and solid but the whole front is pretty much flexible. I could flex it myself but this can damage internal parts which I'd like to avoid. So I took pictures, contacted local Lenovo Support (Poland) about it. Surprisingly they've refused to help by claiming that this is "cosmetic defect". I've asked twice, told them about statements here and I don't blame them, but there's clearly some misunderstanding. Here's the picture of how it looks like. It would be great if someone could clarify why I can't receive warranty service while I read here others did.  I still have week to return it to store but this model (with Kaby Lake) isn't available anymore so they can't replace it for me and yet it's not their fault. I'd like to keep it, stay fair and have my issue resolved. Best Regards, Simon. o/
