I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi -- I'm posting this to save you some time.  After the last Windows 10 update, I lost bluetooth on both a T530 and T430, with the standared Broadcom daughter bluetooth card.  I followed all the instructions on various forums and youtube videos and nothing worked.  (ie: I went into device manager, showed hidden devices, and deleted them; I tried to reinstall the latest bluetooth drivers from Lenovo, etc, etc,)  Nothing worked - and could no longer find or install bluetooth at all on the machines. Finally, I found the solution:  Download this file from intel:  https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/28009?v=t If the link doesn't work, the name of the file is BT_20.70.0_64_Win10.exe  (That's the 64 bit version, there's also a 32 bit version.) Run the file as administrator, wait for it to load for a few minutes, and then restart the computer.  After the restart, bluetooth will reappear in the device manager, with all the correct thinkpad broadcom drivers, and all the devices you've attached to the machine. I hope this is helpful.  It worked for me on two machines.

I've tried many times to install the latest critical BIOS update, using Lenovo System Update, and every time it attempts to, it fails after telling me in a popup that I need to turn the system off and make sure I have a fully charged battery. I rarely rely on battery power and use AC primarily, and I used Power Manager twice to do a full reset, just in case. I can't believe I would need to buy a new battery in order to install it, because the battery works just fine. I'm running Windows 7 (64-bit), and exhausted every other update or option, unless there's something else I'm not aware of. Is it just the software toying with me?

Hi all,

I'm in need of some help.

My stepdads computer stopped applying Windows updates after getting the following error: "Update Windows license and product key tokens failed with 0x80070005."

I've followed various advice and I'm now in a situation where Windows thinks it's unlicensed! I can assure you the PC has been licensed and trouble free for the past three years or so until this happened. I know the computer was taken away to a specialist and they removed some software in my absence, my step dad isn't very computer literate so getting exact information and timings is impossible.

The PC is still working, but this is a blocker to resolving another issue, so I really hope you guys can sort me out.

I've run chkdsk and scandisk, no problems there.

Thanks in advance

Hi folks,
I am working with a company (that I have actually worked with for over 10 years on a consulting basis) and we are auditing our Microsoft Windows Server and server product licenses and preparing to upgrade Windows Server products.  We have ran into a snag, where the former System Administrator left the company a few years ago, however it was understood that the information regarding the VLSC was transferred to another partner in the company.  A new Systems Administrator has taken over, and we have determined that we do not have this information, including a Microsoft account username and password to access the VLSC and our Windows Server 2008R2 product keys, license agreements, SKUs, and downloads.  Unfortunately, the situation became took a turn for the worse about three months ago when the partner that had this information passed away.  No one at the company has access to this login information.  I currently administer most of their licensing, and have access to their much of their licensing information, download, product keys, etc., but I am clearly missing some very important ones.  I called Microsoft and they were of no assistance.  Since I am an administrator on the network, I can create a mailbox that the VLSC was probably originally registered under, however the VLSC says that Microsoft account is not even valid, not even prompting for the password.
I have a mailbox on their Exchange Server for their domain to prove I am ass... Read more

Hello, For the last couple weeks my T530 has been nagging me to do a "critical system update" from Lenovo. Today I caved and ran the update. Turns out it was a bios update. After the update it said "Bios update successful" and then my screen went black. My laptop won't boot at all now the screen just stays black, no pre/post screen or anything.  I don't have access to another computer here so I can't make a recovery disk for a week or so. Any ideas on what I can do to try and resurrect this beast?  Ive tried many hard power offs to no avail.

Hello,

This machine is a very common model in my environment and I have done many fresh windows installations using the OEM license key without issue. however, on this particular machine, it reports it cannot activate because it cannot contact the KMS for activation.
Again, to clarify, this is the OEM product key that has been automatically pulled over from UEFI and NOT a MAK/KMS key.

I've run diagnostics as typically requested for this type of issue and can provide any additional information you might need. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi My T530 will not boot properly. I think that there is some software glitch on my T530 hard drive stopping it booting. It was installed with Windows 10. I tried all the blue screen functions including refresh whilst maintaining files. None worked.I also have a T470 with Windows 10 installed.I would like to download the files from the T530 hard drive before reinstalling Windows 10. I do not have an external hard drive caddy and would rather not have the expense of buying one - otherwise I would just put the drive in that and copy the files.I would like to put the SSD hard drive from the T470 into the main bay of the T530 to see whether it all works ok and if so to put the the old hard drive from the T530 in a caddy in the ultrabay to get the files off it, before then reinstalling it using a system image on a portable hard drive. Will this scheme work? Can I take the hard drive from the T470 and put it in the T530 and expect the T530 to function? Can I do any damage thereby? Thanks for your help Dan

I try to replace the module with another 4GB, which is new but without success. So, after the bios update I can use my laptop only without extra RAM modules installed.. obiuvsly it works fine before. Is a faulty motherboard\memory slot or there is something I can check? I need at least 8gb for my work... thanks in advance k.

I have a Lenovo T530 Laptop with x64 Windows 7. I ran the bios update (g4uj28us), the computer rebooted, and now when it powers up the screen just stays black. The power stays on but it does not boot, also NO BEEPS, and nothing ever comes on the screen.I have tried holding the power button for a minute.Tried unplugging battery and AC.I then detatched the Hard Drive, All Memory, Battery, CMOS Battery, and AC, let it sit over night, and put it back together and it does the same thing. I also put an external monitor on the laptop to make sure the screen is not bad.So it looks like my BIOS is messed up. Any ideas on how I can recover it? I read about using a CD with the BIOS on it but how can I boot to a CD if my screen never comes up? I put the bios bootable CD of the same version in the disc tray but it will not boot to that either, i get nothing on the screen when I power up and no beeps. Help! What should I try?  Thanks!!

There are two XP installations that have illegal copies of XP on the PCs. When the user goes to the Internet, and tries to pull down the SP2, it gives the error message, not a valid product ID # not to mention not having the Genuine XP sticker / # entered.

With that being said, I recommended they purchase 2 full XP Pro versions with SP2. My question is once we get this, how do I update the product ID# on each of the PCs?

IIRC, you'll have to contact MS and they'll walk you through it. Or, do a repair install using the new key/media.

A friend installed his copy of XP on my machine many months ago. I already had my own license for XP at that point, but as a matter of convenience at the time, we installed his copy. Now as you know, MS won't supply automatic updates anymore, because they think I have a stolen copy of XP. Technically correct, but realistically, not quite that bad. How do I tell the operating system my correct license code? Will I need to reinstall the OS, or can it be done with less fuss?

Thanks.

I have followed MSN Support's suggestions regarding security settings in Internet Explorer and get to the final step - "Authorize new computer." When I click on the button nothing happens, but it has tried to process and gives me an error in the information bar that says there was a script error in line 3538 position 9.

Again, I have followed MSN's instructions to the letter. I reported back to them that instructions didn't work and they said they would "keep working on it" - yeah, right!

Hi, and thank you for taking the time out of your day to help me with this problem. This problem has made me want to volunteer my own time to help others here (after the appropriate training) because of how much money it has cost me (in terms of time spent away from work) and because of the difficulty in tracing these issues when they become embedded. No one deserves to go through this, and I can imagine someone with a little less experience having even more of a nightmare (and I have no problem admitting how basic my knowledge really is.) Brief history, timeline is iffy, apologies: Desktop PC running Windows 7 Installation (64 bit) from previous owner. Has SSD w/ main install (and games), and another SATA HDD, partitioned w/ another Windows 7 Installation which I thought I had neutered, but perhaps not well enough, and a simple Media partition for anything I'd like to store (gameplay videos, code repos, schoolwork, etc.) My main account has administrator access which I realize is a no-no, so I do intend to fix that once I'm sure I can do so safely. Have had some random occurrences w/ PUPs and AdWare after a long history of no issues. Anticipated that it had something to do with an exploit and began updating anything I could imagine might be expressing a vulnerability. Current Symptoms: Windows does not acknowledge MWB as an AV software. I do have Windows Firewall enabled, and have for the duration of these issues, and for a period preceding it. ... Read more

Hi,Recently my copy of Windows became corrupted. I bought this computer used, and it didn't come with any Windows CD. Just put up with not having access to Windows and used only Linux (I dual boot) for a while, got a system recovery toolkit from computerrepairathome.com and that didn't help, so then I just purchased a copy of Windows 7 Professional and did a fresh install. Little did I know that the drivers for several hardware items, including the drivers for both wireless and wired Internet devices, were missing. What do I do? Will I be okay if I download drivers from this website (from my working Internet connection here on Linux) and copy them over to my Windows partition, and where should I copy them to? Thanks in advance for help with this!Jeff

A:T530 reinstalling Windows missing drivers

Hello and welcome,

It should be fine to go to SUPPORT (above) and download the Win 7 drivers you need.  They are exe files that launch the actual installers, so it doesn't really matter where you put them.  The installers will default to unpack locations that are appropriate, and the drivers themselves will end up where they belong.

You might find it easiest to first grab the network driver you prefer to use initially - wifi or LAN - and get that installed.  After that you can do the rest from Windows.  I'd suggest grabbing System Update and installing that after getting networking up.  When you run it post-install it should offer drivers appropriate for your machine and do the scut work of downloading and installing.

Since upgrading to Windows 10 (or at least very shortly thereafter) in late 2015, my programs, including Office 2016, have all dsplayed Dark Red as the default (in Office, automatic) font color. I've clean installed W10 3 times now, the most recent one today, with files backed up and then everything wiped off the C drive. Clean install from online resulted yet again in Dark Red text. Has anyone here heard of a problem like this? All I can think at this point is that my Lenovo installation is buggy or corrupt. But I don't know enough to do more than speculate. Thoughts/suggestions welcome. - JudithT530running Windows 10 Pro

Dears,I have Lenovo T530After upgrading to Windows 10 I noticed that fonts are not being rendered correctly or as expectedThey're pixelated and somehow blurry(P.S.: Graphics Card Driver is installed correctly) So if anyone can support I would be really grateful Thanks.

A:[ T530 ] Windows 10 Font Rendering Issue

Hey. My Yoga 2 13 had the same problem. Just found this fix two years after purchase. I show you how to turn on proper scaling of mmc and installer programs with two registry entries. Clear fonts without exception. https://youtu.be/3w6SaeuCJ_o If you're already comfortable with the registry, go to HKCU>Control Panel>Desktop and change the Win8 scaling key to "1" and add a new key "LogPixels" with a value 78 (which changes the windows default of 96 pixels to 120 pixels). You shouldn't need all of the compatibility fix stuff after this. Crystal clear across the board for the first time!! Cheers!

Hello, My T530 Laptop gets hung up on a black screen with a moveable cursor when I try to boot it up. It seems like for seem reason it just refuses to load the background graphics, only the cursor. This occurs after the windows logo but logging in to my user. I have never had an issue on Safe Mode and Safe Mode with Networking; only regular start up.  Based on my research, I believe the issue is with the display adapter but I am not entirely sure. Usually after I try various combinations of fixes (system restore, delete display adapter, redownload display adapters, etc.) it will eventually "catch" and load the user log in screen. Once in, the laptop works as normal as long as I only let it go into sleep mode. If I fully restart or if it dies from low battery, I almost always hit the black screen problem. My current stretch I've gone without being able to get past the screen on normal mode and I am not sure what else to try. It has been happening for months and I am yet to find a permanent fix. Any help is appreciated. My computer is running 64 bit windows 7; usually when operational it says I use the Intel HD 4000 card but I have also tried using all other combinations of the windows 7 cards downloaded from the support.lenovo website. Thanks again for any assistance.

Hi all, I've replaced my old R60 by a T530 and also bought a T430 for my wife.T430 : Windows 7 x64 Pro (provided with the used T430 laptop)T530 : Windows x64 Ultimate (installed by myself) I have the same issue on both laptops : After booting, the sound is OK (windows sound at start), but after some minutes I lose the sound.I usually never use sound, but when I need to watch a youtube video after some minutes working, I have no sound.... To get the sound back again, I need to type Fn-F4 to place the laptop in sleep mode, and exiting from sleep mode immediately and the sound is back ! I've installed last audio drivers from Lenovo Partslookup website by selecting myu laptop serial number, so I'm quite sure I've got the right driver. Any idea about this annoying issue ?? Thanks

A:Clean install of Windows 10..Need Internet Driver for T530

Hi,

I'm not sure what you mean by "internet driver".  Are you looking for a driver for the wired network controller?

Since Microsoft so cordially invited me I upgraded to Windows 10 Pro on my T530 2394-SXU. One of the "oh by the way" caveats to use my free copy of Windows 10 was the G4ETA5WW 2.65 BIOS upgrade on the T530. This Lenovo supplied BIOS ask for a password even though there isn't one and does not recognize the Lenovo SK-8825 external keyboard when attached via the 4338 dock or plugged directly into the T530. After booting I must re-plug the keyboard before it is recognized. To bypass the useless BIOS password I just press enter. Once in BIOS setup I cannot change any of the keyboard related parameters. I did a clean install for Windows 10 and so far everything else is working. Anyone have any suggestions? Can I install release 2.64 BIOS? This T530 was at 2.53. TIA for your help.Bob Helms

I (someone else had already had the problem and documented a fix) found a solution. Uncheck "Turn On Fast Startup" in the "Shutdown Settings" located in the "Define Power Buttons" section in control panel "Power Options". Control Panel>Power Options>Choose what the power button does>Shutdown Settings>Uncheck Turn On Fast Startup. This insures that all USB ports get poked correctly, fast start up evidently does not. I could not tell any difference in my start up times.

Hello, Community! I'm about to do a clean install of Windows 7 Pro SP1 64-bit on a T530 (BIOS v2.68) with an SSD. My issue is I'm new to UEFI and have never done an install with UEFI. I suspect that my apporpriate install BIOS Setup should be:UEFI/Legacy Boot: UEFI OnlyCSM Support: YesDoes the T530 support a UEFI boot interface similar to pressing F1 and getting into BIOS? Then after I install Windows 7 then install all the T530 HW drivers, I should set the BIOS settings to:UEFI/Legacy Boot: BothUEFI/Legacy Boot Priority: UEFI FirstCSM Support: Yes Does my above configuration plan make sense? I have two requirements once Win7 is installed - first, I must be able to boot from an external USB when needed. Second I must be able to boot into either BIOS or some UEFI graphical interface (I see on this forum that when some people set UEFI they lose that ability).. Will my above plan achieve this for me? Thank you!

A:Clean Install of Windows 7 Pro on a Lenovo T530 with an SSD - UEFI Issue?

Hello and welcome,

I've moved your post to the T-series forum.

A couple of quick thoughts.  Others will probably have more suggest.

Boot your installer via the USB 2.0 ports.  Clean '7 won't have USB 3.0 drivers and the installer will fall over.

If booting the installer from a flash drive you'll have to modify the it for UEFI booting. Don't know about a DVD.

F12 will get you the boot menu and on current UEFI machines there will be a tab for BIOS access.  Not sure about the 530.
Depending on what you're going to be booting via USB in the future UEFI-only may be fine.  Doesn't really matter if you leave at "both" but occasionally something will boot in the "other" mode and produce unexpected results.  I'm inclined to leave it at whatever the OS install mode is and toggle as necessary - but whatever floats your boat.

Hi
I am running Win8.1 Home on my laptop.  I have access to a Win8.1 Pro (volume license) through my university.

My question is - how do I do the upgrade, keeping all my data and system settings intact?
(I have looked at the info online, and the closest I have come to an answer is 'you need media, this cannot be done through the online Store'.  I have an <Win8.1-Pro-x64 .ISO> disc, is this sufficient?)

Thanks for any pointers.
