HP Stream book computer not turning on.

Q: HP Stream book computer not turning on.

My laptop is not turning on. I tried holding the power button for 30 seconds as mentioned on some of the earlier posts. Tried plugging the laptop to a power source. Still no avail. No signs of life are shown. No light even when it is connected to a power source. Battery is not user removable hence could not try that.Appreciate if someone can help.

Preferred Solution: HP Stream book computer not turning on.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Mikenothappy Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums! Hey, I can see why you're "not happy" with a new PC -- especially with problems this soon. You paid for free HP Tech Support as part of the warranty coverage, so you might as well make use of it.While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about troubleshooting and repairing your machine remotely.I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs. If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while! If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836Good Luck

A:HP Stream Notebook not turning on.

Do any lights stay on when the screen goes blank or does everything go dark?  It sounds like the screen stays on when you are in the BIOS since you were able to run the diagnostics.  You might try restoring Windows back if that is what is not working using the F11 system recovery option.

Is there any way to do this? its driving the insane...it gives me more mistakes because I just want to type--I don't want to have to jump up to the screen during a word to pick a number, and it also makes typing word/number combinations almost impossible. If I make a mistake and backspace to edit a word, it treats it as a new word. Simply put, I have a very high WPM and can correct myself and while this feature may help a lot of people it's just not for me. When I try to change it in settings though the settings only seem to be for the onscreen keyboard. I would probably like to then off auto-correct as well.

Here is the issue, when my computer goes to sleep after it's on for a while when I move the mouse to get the screen back up it shows the backround no icons or anything to click.
Same if I turn it off and turn it back on. I have to turn it off and on many times then go to safe mode and shut down then turn it on again for it to work. Just now I had to turn it on/off 4 times for it to show the icons and task bar. Usually it is left blank with nothing to click having no choice but to turn it off.
Norton says no viruses.
My computer is HP with windows 7. I bought it in 2011.
This problem has been happening for a long time. Please help.

Hello squirrels and welcome to Seven Forums.

I think I'd start out by trying to do a startup repair. It's been suggested that the startup repair be done 3 times (regardless of what the notifications say) and the computer rebooted after each repair.

Long story short, My computer suddenly shut off, And when i pressed the power button it would attempt to turn on then just fail and shut down completely[no signal to anything, only fans]
I cleaned out the pc and cleaned out the power supply, reassembled and it turned on as per normal. i used it for about 35 minutes, set it to sleep for an hour or two, turned it on, used it for about an hour and a half then it suddenly turned off again. When this happens it either powers on for 2 seconds then powers down, or it powers up all fans and mouse led but no signal to keyboard or screen whatsoever i assumed it was the power supply so i purchased a new one today and installed it, It turned on first try, i assumed it was fixed, i used it, set it to sleep as per normal and went to turn it on again and it turned on all fans but once again no power to anything else, just fans it seems. I tried everything[I have two sticks of ram so i switched them/used them singularly tried running without fans, Oddly it didn't beep even without video card or ram but nothing made a difference. I just borrowed a single 2gb stick of ram from a friend and it successfully powered on and I am using it normally.. But i just can't imagine the problem was just the ram and i expect it to power off again soon, Can anyone help?

Hi I am working on a few ways to stream your own Private music across the LAN or Internet via VPN.
Using Winamp and a Shoutcast server... once configured then install as services so they are not visible but do use CPU. As services they are on automatic start so no interaction needed. If you need to change the playlist just stop the service and start via the normal icon (shortcut).

I have also had success using a dial up connection with a stream of 24Kbs mono.
Also works with usb wireless connections.

Have 5 separate music streams running at the same time eg channel for Wife, yourself, Kids and 2 others. you can block ip addresses so that your kids pc's cant listen to your music.
Go to a party and you supply the music.

Move your AMP and speakers outside add notebook no Wires no moving desktop computer.

It maybe possible to have more that 5 channels running at the same time off 1 pc but it will be a lot more complicated.

You can also have 2 or more pc's in sync with each other over internal network...internet its about 5 seconds out, still working on that one.

If there is any interest I may post a link to my forum if moderators approve.
I am still working out the bugs and the config options etc.
If you would like to help with the setup let me know...

Let me clarify. My brother brought his computer over for me to recable it. Simple process right? Not so much. Before I get into details, let me give you specs. Keep in mind since I did not build the system, I do not have all the information I usually would.

Windows Vista
4 GB of RAM (unknown brand)
Abit motherboard (unknown serial number)
AMD athlon 64 3.0 GHZ processor
4 250GB harddrives (In raid configuration to look like 2 hard drives @ 500GB each)
Antec 550 watt power supply
Nvidia Geforce 8600 GT Video card

Okay, so when I recabled everything and powered the system on, it would not boot at all. Everything was on and running, but the bios was not doing anything, and everything was at a standstill. Not knowing if the raid configuation and the motherboard had anything to do with it, I started swtiching the sata connections into different configurations based on what I think the individual would have done. In doing this I accidentally pulled a jumper from the motherboard. Setting it aside and not thinking it was important, I plugged everything back in and attempted to power on the computer.

This is where it gets interesting. Instead of even powering on like it did last time, it powered up for MAYBE one second before shutting off. Any other attempts to power it on were futile, and resulted in nothing.

After this, I replaced the jumper where it was supposed to go, and powered on the system again. The same thing happened. I want to think the power supply is toast, but I wou... Read more

Just few hours ago I was listening to songs on Napster. Then I played some online games. I had to reboot at one point since it was going slow on me.

For some reasons unknown, my computer turns off and tried to boot itself, but kept turning off and booted itself. Somehow it did that in a loop. I tried to wipe up some dirt from inside(it may not be completely wiped up). I even tried to rearrange the cables and such. Now, if I press the power button, it only shows the power indicator, but it won't boot. I'm just puttoping it to rest right now hoping that it would back up tomorrow when I turn it on.

I have Velocity Micro with Windows XP SP3 (update progression). Motherboard: ASUS. I posted this using my laptop. I appreciate any help or input.

I'm not entire sure which thread this post goes in, so I'm posting here.

I'm wondering how I'd be able to (if there is a way) stream what's on my Insignia television set to my Acer laptop.

Basically, I'm trying to record myself playing games on the NES, and instead of using a webcam or camcorder to record the television, have the TV stream it's feed straight to the laptop.

I'm not sure if this is entirely possible, and if it's not, I was thinking about purchasing a nice camcorder to stream the TV into the computer.

If that is what it comes to, I was wondering if there are any cameras or camcorders (besides webcams) that allow you to stream what it views (without necessarily recording) into the computer. E.g. a camcorder that streams live via firewire (for sites such as ustream.tv and livestream.com)
Any help is greatly appreciated!

A:Stream TV to Computer

You might be able to get a video capture card for the laptop
and hook the nes to that.
Then connect the external laptop video connector to the TV
to use as a monitor.
I doubt the TV has video out.

I have a netflix account and am looking into buying the roku box that allows wireless streaming of netflix video to your TV. This sounds good, however I regularly use sites like hulu and fancast to watch new episodes of current seasons of shows. Is there another type of wireless box that will stream everything I see on my computer to my tv so that I can just use the netflix instant watch website, and sites like fancast and hulu to watch video on my computer?

Would be using a 2 month old mac desktop (24"), and 2 month old macbook pro (15") if that makes a difference.

A:Stream Computer video to TV?

That should work...

Another option... is just use a video OUT cable from the computer to the TV set, but that means having your computers close to the TV.

But what I think is important and very USEFUL are the devices that take ANY video from your computer (Streamed form netflix, HULU and your own video files) and photos.

Ideally the "content streaming" solution will be compatible with Multiple Operating Systems.

Hi guys,

Two weeks ago I took the plunge and build my first system. Despite a few hiccups, I had the machine running well until about 3 days ago, when it started crashing arbitrarily while watching video streamed from various websites (ustream, livestream, youtube). What happens is the video and sound freeze, and sometimes I'll get a brief BSOD before it reboots or shuts down.

As far as I can tell, it shouldn't be an overheating issue. I've using an antec 900 and aftermarket cooler, but this still happens even though the computer is at all stock speeds and not running anything particularly intensive.

The processor is an AMD Phenom II x4 955, gpu is HIS radeon HD5850, ram is OCZ AMD BE 2x2, and the motherboard is ASUS M4A890GTD PRO/USB3, with Windows 7.

Is there any type of diagnostic tool I can run to pinpoint where the issue is coming from? I've read various forums and topics, but there's so much information that I don't know where to start, and am quite frankly frustrated by the whole thing.

Thanks for any help.

Hey guys,
First off, great forum, I've learned alot from this place.

Now, I have a problem I cant seem to solve or find in the archives.

My computer will just randomly lock up after being on the internet. Sometimes it happens after a few minutes, somtimes after 20. It can be really frustrating because it's so random. There doesn't seem to be a method to what's happeneing. I'll go to load a page or something and my computer will just freeze and have the hourglass turning constantly. When I go down to the taskbar it will turn back into the arrow, but I can't click anything. And I can't Ctl-alt-delete to get to the task manager, so I just have to unplug the computer.

It seems to come and go. There's no parrellel I can see in the sites or what I'm doing, they're not heavy pages or intense flash/video or anything. Just checking email and googling stuff and it just happens.

I've ran a norton virus check multiple times and turned up nothing... and I'm lost. Please help!

Here's my tech specs, if they'll help:
- Windows xp
- multiple browsers (tried out with explorer, firefox, opera)
- pentium 4 2.52ghz, 1gb ram, 120gb hd
- Adelphia cable internet through a cisco wireless cable router (I have another computer that I've plugged into the cable internet and never ran into the problem.. so I think it's gotta be something software or hardware related.)

First off, I did scan through some of the forums, but couldn't find anything that looked like the problem I was having. So I apologize if this has been a topic of massive discussions and I just missed it. This problem has become a particular thorn in my side and extremely frustrating one at that. All I want to do is watch videos off the external drive to the PS3 or blu ray players with the family and then MicrosoftFixit ruins everything. Color me sad...and frustrated. One can only watch so much Wheel of Fortune...
I was changing to a larger TB external drive for streaming throughout the house. Everything used to stream fine through WMP. The devices never showed up in Media Streaming options, but everything worked and updated without incident. Once I changed to the larger external drive, no media folders showed up on any device in the house. The WMP icon was there from Folders>Videos> but then, no files anymore.
I saw that my Windows Firewall had a big red box on it and thought that might be the culprit eventhough I had been using Bitdefender Total Security with no problems. I used Microsoft Fixit to fix the "Windows Firewall can't change some of your settings error code 0x80070" and to try and get network devices to show up in Media Streaming Options.
After using it, my devices showed up in Media streaming options and my Windows Firewall went from the red to the correct looking green blocks screen. Restart. Then IT happened. Nary a Media Serv... Read more

Hello everyone - I am a new member of the forum and hope that someone reading this might be able to help me with a problem I have with my computer.

In recent weeks the computer screen keeps freezing with the cursor being replaced by the hour glass symbol. This usually happens after several hours' computer usage - but sometimes it occurs soon after the computer is turned on.

When this happens, I am unable to log off; the computer on/off button does not work when the screen freezes and I have to turn the computer off at the mains.

In order to be able to log back into my broadband internet connection I have to turn the computer and and off twice and then on again .

Sometimes when the computer screen image freezes a message box appears always saying "End programme" (i.e. "End programme - CiceroUIWndFrame" or "End programme - mixer").

My computer runs on the Windows XP operating system.

I changed from Internet Explorer browser 6 to 7 yesterday but the problem of the computer screen freezing persists.

Any helpful advice on this would be much appreciated.

Since I don't use AOL, I know very little about it. I have searched on the internet and just haven't found a good solution. I rebuilt an older computer for a friend and took it to her Mon. She uses AOL. She had a very old computer that didn't have a CD burner, so I brought it home to try and get AOL address book off and put it on a disk to take back to her. I also have a disk of her documents, photos etc. I seem to be stumped on how to do this. Any help is very much appreciated. She is using AOL 9.1

A:How to move AOL address book from one to another computer

When you or someone installs the AOL software onto the computer (I'm assuming by "rebuilt the computer" you also meant you did a full clean install and have to reinstall all the old programs...) you will be offered a number of choices which will include a transfer of the account to a new computer and then sign on as an existing customer.

AOL Favorites and Address Book is saved online for you, along with all the current mail in the AOL locations, INbox, etc those will all still show when the owner is signed into AOL.

You or whoever does the AOL reinstalling will have to know her username and password (AOL calls it a screen name...and, you need the main, or primary, screen name,---- the one that was original, first, main, responsible for paying AOL)

Your mail box will transfer, too, together with your address book.

What will not be transferred are saved emails, pictures, etc unless the owner downloaded those to My Documents, My Pictures, etc. and you put them on a disk and transfer them back to the new install....

Look around this page, lots of help for AOL email etc here

Good luck

I am moving programs and files from XP Home computer to another XP Home. AOL is installed on both computers. I have copied the AOL Organize file from 1st computer to a CD. Then I went to C drive, Program files, AOL on the 2nd computer. I then copied/ pasted the Organize file from the CD to the 2nd computer. When I try AOL, nothing is in the address book, favorites, etc.

I think this is how I did it in the past, but I must be messing up somewhere. Thanks for the help in advance!!

Hope anyone can help me.

I got a My Book 1140 (2TB), when I connect it to my computer (also tried on 2 other laptops),

1. Appears listed on the hard drive, but does not load. The bar that determines the space of the used or free disk does not appear. And if I click on it, tells me the perimeter is incorrect so cannot access to the WD My Book

2. Also on the COMPUTER MANAGEMENT, doesn't appear under volume but it does under disk management is the one call Disco 1, but cannot open it.

I also use the WD Data LifeGuard Diagnostics, told me have some bad sector, so I fix them, unplug and plug the USB and same error, wont load, sometimes wont even appear or the computer tells me need to format, I click on format (don't want to erased) and tells me the WD My Book is not connect it

Any Ideas?

Welcome to the forum.
Bad sector and / or bad block is a bad signal.
Is it new? Do you have data on it?

I am not sure if its a hardware issue or software issue., but when i turn my pc on after about 3-5 seconds it turns itself off then turns itself on again and keeps doing this..
anyone know why this may be?

A:computer keeps turning on and off

I had a similar issue recently and it was the Power Supply.
I would be checking the PSU first.
