Win Live Mail error(0X80004005)

Q: Win Live Mail error(0X80004005)

I have a Dell Inspiron mini with Win7 starter with 1 gig of Ram. I use Microsoft Security Essentials. I did not use it for 2 months and when I turned it on 2 days ago, 22 win updates we downloaded. Now when I try to use Win Live Mail to download E-Mail from ATT.NET, I get a 0X80004005 error message. I tried to turn off E-Mail scanning but it did no good. Any suggestions?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

go into Programs and Features and double click Windows live Essentials like you are uninstalling it, but instead it will ask you if you want to uninstall or repair. Do the repair and see if WLM gets fixed.

If not back up WLM with the tutorial on here and uninstall it and reinstall it and see if that works and fixes it

I've been getting this error message and have been unable to fix it. I am running avast as anti-virus but hadnt done any changes to that when this message came up. I've since tried the "repair" function on the Install/Uninstall for WLM but no luck. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Avast. I'm using a laptop - Dell Presario. I have Windows 2010 installed.

Really grateful for any help or advice.

Please will someone help me with this. I have no idea what to do now. I have tried every combination of settings! I do have Norton 360 which I have just installed - something I read mentioned that may cause a problem.
Thank you, Jenni

Hi,

I have been using WLM for some years. Yesterday, it stopped sending emails and now just leaves them in the Outbox. Here is most of what appears in the error box:

The message could not be sent because the server rejected the sender's email address. The sender's email address was '[email protected]'.
Subject 'Newsflash'
Server Error: 553
Server Response: 553 Sorry, over your daily relay limit.
Server: 'smtpout.secureserver.net'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC78
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 80
Secure(SSL): No

I don't send many emails and don't send emails with large attachments, so I don't know why the "over your daily relay limit" message appears.

Port 80 has worked for a long time and works (sends emails) from the other computers on the network, so it doesn't seem like I should need to select a different port number.

The "My server requires authentication" box is selected/ticked.

None of the settings have been changed for a long time.

Our ISP is GoDaddy.

Thanks for any advice.

Once the issue was identified as Mail-related, I restored the original msoe.dll files in the two Windows Mail folders. (see attached screencap.) Can someone help me get rid of an annoying pop-up window in my new Windows 7 email?

Even tho' I am auto connected to HS broadband and have no problem with my browser, when I access my Live Mail I always get a pop-up window headed "Dial-up Connection" which appears to be trying to dial. If I ignore this pop-up I get a second pop-up 20 seconds later headed "Error connecting to broadband" (even tho' I am already connected)> it then says Error 651. Behind these pop-ups my new emails are happily loading!

From my searches it appears that error 651 is a common problem.

Windows Live Mail - Error
W7 Home Premium SP1 & WLMail 2011, build 15.4.3538.0513

Each time WLM finishes searching for new messages it gives the following error window:

The error always shows up on the last email account installed. I proved this by uninstalling two accounts & reinstalling them in reverse order.

Image 3 - error shown with Gmail account removed.

If all news groups are prevented for searching for new messages the error does not occur. Of course this means that the News Groups are not updated.

Can anyone throw any light on the matter please.

I'm hoping someone can help me or point me in the right direction. I tried to open Windows Live Mail last night and suddenly got this error.

WLM could not be started. The app was unable to load the WLM message store. WLM was unable to locate it's message database. If you've moved the DB path to a new location, click OK to reset the db path to that location. Otherwise click cancel to proceed, any existing messages found will be available under orphaned accounts. (0x00000000. 2)

I click cancel and then this message pops up.
WLM could not be started. The app was unable to open WLM message store. your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. (0x80070002)

I have almost 425GB Free on the HD so I doubt that's the issue.

I'm not sure what happened. The computer did not shut down abnormally and previously about a few hours ago I opened it just fine. So I'm not sure what caused the error or how to fix it. When I go into uninstall WLM I can't find it or Windows Live program to uninstall that. Windows live came pre-installed with the computer.

I've done searches on these specific errors but they are always somewhat different with different error codes and mostly on Visa machines. So I was hoping that someone here might have an answer. I did try deleting the WLM message database to see if it would fix it, and it hasn't. I still get the same error.

Hope someone can help or point me in the right direction.

Thanks
Mel

Good job of providing the error message.

When did you download Windows Live Mail?

Which version of WLM are you using?

When did WLM last work correctly.

The problem may be with W L M.
Please see the screen shot I have attached.

Try to be patient and wait a couple of hours. The W L M server may be overloaded with requests, or the server may be on a break, for maintenance.

I am NOT suggesting that you shouldn't be concerned. I am only suggesting patience of 2 to 4 hours.

Since I installed Win7 Pro about 18 months ago I have had email problems, my browser is Chrome and I use Windows Live Mail, my ISP is Tiscali my email address is @tiscali.co.uk as the tiscali mail has never worked well and mail sticks on the server so I use Google Mail to receive my mail and for the last 6 months it has worked very well, unfortunately my probs have come back and while I have deleted and remade the accounts several times varying the parameters using ports 25- 465 ?110 - 993 but whichever account I use the mail sticks in the Out-box, or if I get it to send there is a time out before it or any mail will come back, the error number is 0X800ccc19
As my email address is @tiscali, I am not quite sure if it should be my tiscali email address in the Gmail properties box or the @gmail.com but I have used both without success so I don't think that is part of the problem.
In my research I have found there is a file which can be deleted it is pop3uidl.dbx but I can not find it as win7 is useless at searching the PC files and always comes back with ?No items match your search? can anyone advise? Regards Robert.

Hi again
After two days and making many new accounts etc etc, the mail started to flow again and was ok all day sending and receiving as it should, then the day after it suddenly stopped again, later that night I started up the PC and everything was working and mail came into the inbox and I could send mail out, so I am wondering if it is a glitch with the ISP who are keeping quiet, whatever its been ok since, so I am putting solved on the thread. Hi, since microsoft has no real answer about this issue, I'll share the best way to bypass this error.
Many people will tell you to check in your internet option and blablabla but this is a fix for "Error ID: 0x80048849" and not for the "Error ID: 0x80048820".
Most of the support team don't take care of the two last number this is why there is no solution.
Now Follow the next step there will be the Bypass.
---------
1) Open Live Mail
2) delete the existing account.
3) add new account, and check the "manually configure" option
4) set the connection settings to:
Incoming server name: pop3.live.com
Incoming server port: 995
Outgoing server name: smtp.live.com
Outgoing server port: 25
Requires SSL Yes
Requires outgoing authentication Yes
---------
Now your mail should sync without any error.
If I'm not wrong by now the POP service is enable by default and can't be Disable on Hotmail option but you can allow the program to control your mailbox just like the previous automatic setup was doing.
Have an nice day!

I wonder if the problem has to do with setting the "Connect with https" option on the web
https://account.live.com/ManageSSL:
"Using HTTPS will help keep your account secure from hackers-especially if you commonly use public computers or unsecure wireless connections.

Important note: Turning on HTTPS will work for Hotmail over the web, but it will cause errors if you try to access Hotmail through programs like: The Windows Live application for Windows Mobile and Nokia
MSN Explorer"
http://www.groovypost.com/howto/howto/enable-https-in-hotmail-by-default/
"Note:
Enabling HTTPS over Hotmail will mess up pre-existing Windows Live Mail accounts."

When I am on a website and want to send an email--Windows Live box shows up, I type in my password and the email screen comes up. After I type in my message and click on send, it says--Some errors occured while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details.
This has happened a few times and each time there are no errors listed. I can't send emails this way and I need to for job applications. Any help would be appreciated.

I recently got a new computer with windows seven. I tried windows live mail and it opened with no problems. I then used windows easy transfer to move my files mail etc from my old computer which was using XP but I was already using windows live mail on that computer.

The transfer seemed to go fine however when I tried to open windows live mail I was greeted with the following message:

"Windows live mail could not be started. The application was unable to open the windows live mail message store. Your windows live mailbox data is currently being used by another program, such as a virus scanner. Close the program or wait for it to complete its operation, then open windows live mail again. (0x800c0155, 2)".

The only option on this error is to press OK and then there is no further information.

I first decided to remove mcafee and norton trials that where on my computer but this had no effect.

I then reinstalled windows live mail onto the new computer which, had no effect.

I have used task manager to look for and stop any processes that look a bit suspect however, this didnt work although I may be missing something.

I have tried running windows live mail as administrator but again no effect.

I am convinced this may be cause by the 'easy transfer' however, I am not sure how. If somebody could show me a way of removing the files that were transfered I might give this a go.

Thanks in advance!

Danny

Suddenly, after working perfectly for some time, Windows Live Mail doesn't open on Start up. I get a message saying:
Windows Live Mail could not be started. Make sure that your disk is not full or that you are not out of memory. (0x80041161)

I can open it if I click the icon on the Toolbar when it opens without any trouble. My disk is not full and I'm not out of memory. Having Googled it extensively, I've done two Windows repairs, successfully I'm told, but still this problem remains. Is there an easy solution without having to uninstall then reinstall? That's a real hassle.

The message above states that it MAY be a server problem, which you can do nothing about, only your ISP can.

Servers have been know to have hiccups just like any desktop or laptop.

If the email access is there most of the time, then it is a server error or your connection to that server is not being made at THAT time. Waite a while and try again.
