Solved: Changing the names of the modules in Project Explorer

Q: Solved: Changing the names of the modules in Project Explorer

Hi there

I'm working with Excel 2000. Is there a way to change the names of the Modules in the project explorer window. The names that show up are generic in nature (module1, module2 etc.). I want to make the names of the modules more meaningful to me.

Preferred Solution: Solved: Changing the names of the modules in Project Explorer

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Solved: Changing the names of the modules in Project Explorer

Do you see the Properties Window on the left side of your screen when you select a module? If not, do the following....

1. Click "View"
2. Click "Properties Window"

Once you have the properties window displaying, you can select the module. In the properties window you will see a field like "(Name)". Out to the right, enter the name of the module you would like to see.

In Windows 8 Explorer ( have they changed the name of it ) you know, the file manager. In the left side, the top of the "tree" you have Desktop, Downloads, etc ....

I created a folder when the pc was new called Jack's Stuff. Later, much later, I decided I didn't like the name with "stuff" ... so I changed it to Jack's Place. Instead of the typical My(fill in the blank). So it changed there. But following through the tree to it's origin down finding it through USERS>Jack ... etc. It's still in all cases called Jack's Stuff. Now this is not typical for XP and before that. I jumped right from XP to Windows 8.

Why didn't the name change everywhere and not just at the top of the tree? Is there a way to insure the name changes everywhere if you rename a folder. Oh, I tried going through USERS>Jack and changing it but I forget right now but it didn't work out completely kosher.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Jack ":-D

SOLUTION BELOW! Sorry, I clicked solution here and don't know how to undo it.

A:Changing folder names in Win 8 Explorer. Easy right?

Well, seems after trial before writing this question I could not get it. Just after posting it I figured it out. You have to rename it in Documents further down the tree, and even possibly check the properties and find the location and change the name there. That did it and it's changed in USERS>Jack too.

A couple of yearsago, I bought a larger hard drive and had it installed, along with the old one, by a technician. Gradually, everything slowed down until I decided to reinstall Windows, which I did. Something happened, I don't remember what but whatever, I decided to reformat the drive. I had to go into the bios, etc so the machine would boot from the Cd drive. ok, so far but after the format was done, the newer, larger drive was listed as "D" and the old one was now "C", I thought, "Ok, no problem" but a lot of the defaults are for C and I'd like to change back to the way the technician had it with the bootable drive being C. I've googled changing names, etc but the advive I found was about installing a NEW drive, etc. I could take the machine back to the technician but I'd like to do it myself if I can. Can you tell me what to do next?

I noticed recently that my system and other folder names have changed on their own! What the -h- happened? I have never seen anything like this before. These folders appear on all of my drives c:, d:, g: and they are random. It looks like they are of another language, maybe? Actually, the wording makes no sense at all...> It looks like most of these folders previously existed.

Things I have done: Ran Anti-V program + Ewido Suite = No viruses, trojans, malware, etc. Ran three adware programs (ad-aware, spywareblaster, spyware doctor) = Clear. Checked all running processes and startup tab in mscofig = no peculiar programs detected. Ran regseeker = Phenominal amount of invalid keys, etc. (3,000+) very unusual to the norm!!!

Hi everybody,

I really didn't know how to call this question, but I will try to make it clear.

I got an Excel sheet which contains in total over 1000 names and adresses. These adresses contain a lastname, surname and adresse etc.

Cell b10 contains for example, "Klaasen, P"
Cell c10 contains the adress of this person.

Now I would like to get the content of the b10 cell to "P, Klaasen" instead of "Klaasen, P"

Is this possible in any way? I can't find any options in Excel for doing this and I can't find anything on the internet.

Thanks in advance!

When using NERO BURN and FEURIO! to extract audio tracks to WAV files from my CD's, how do I change the default file name (e.g., Track 01) to a typed-in song title? I must be missing something because I don't seem to have this option with these two programs. (I know how to do this using Easy CD Creator, but I would rather use NERO and FEURIO!)

Thank you,

The Notebook has two memory modules with 512 MB each module. I have received a used 1 GB module.

Can I remove one of the 512 MB modules and install the 1 GB module to get total 1,5 GB RAM or need both modules the same memory size?

A:Changing memory modules in Satellite M30X-165

According notebook specification you can upgrade your machine up to 2GB of RAM so you can use one 1GB RAM and one module with 512MB. Important is that you use 100% compatible memory modules.
Just for your info: compatible PC2700 1GB memory module has part number PA3313U-1M1G.

Make upgrade, test it and post some feedback.

I'm working in Project 2000.

I set up some schedules for employees that work 25% of the time on this particular project.
Therefore, when I enter a work time of 1 day, and assign one resource to it, the duration changes to 4 days.

The finish date, does not change to correspond with that 4 day duration....causing the schedule to be inaccurate. The finish date is only changing upon the date in the work column, not the duration column.

Things I have checked, double ched, and re checked:

1) Predecessor assignments
2) Finish to start task relationships
3) Fixed units and fixed durations....
4) Never hard coded dates, trying to get the program to do it for me...

Thanks so much!!!!!

This is so weird, see the screenshot.

This happened after booting up my pc today (running XP Pro SP3).

I had a malware infection days ago and removed it almost completely (apart from random tabs popping up in Firefox).

Last night I ran O&O Defrag and it finished without any problems or errors.

I shut down the pc and then this morning I hung at startup.

Safe mode hung at mup.sys and after some Googling I managed to 'fix' it by copying over the original registry (as detailed here: http://support.microsoft.com/default...;en-us;Q307545).

Obviously that got me back to how Windows was just after the original install in 2007.

So I restored the backup of the registry I made just days ago.

This fixed everything but gave me this really weird thing in Explorer.

Even though the names are wrong I can still click the C: drive and see all my files and folders.

I can enter any folder but the moment I double click a file it will open the file in the associated program and crash explorer at the same time.

I hope someone has a solution for this!

A:[SOLVED] Drive names within Explorer completely changed, crashes the moment you doubl

You can try and do a System Restore to an earlier time when this was not happening. You can also go to Start/Run and type CMD and hit enter. In the command prompt type chkdsk /f and hit enter. Then type a Y and reboot the computer. The Check Disk Utility will try and check any file errors.

I am slowly developing a rather complex number-crunching VB-6 program named BURN. When I started programming, I gave several of the forms names like BURa or BURb. Later in the development process, forms were named BURF or BURG. For consistancy, I changed the names of the forms in the Properties sub-screen with the lower case letter to match the format of the others (i.e. BURa became BURA). However, every time I start working, the VB system says there is an inconsistancy and they will use the BURA form if OK with me. Clearly, it is OK . . . but I want to stop having to OK it. I tried editing all of the files where the lower case form appears . . . but the VB program won't let the changes "stick." Can I do this? It's not the end of the world, but it is irritating!

I am running WMP 12 on Windows 7 and have a really annoying problem. For some reason WMP sees fit the amend the artist names, when I change them manaully them revert back soon afterwards.

For example... a have an album by the band "The Mission", WMP displays this as by the "The Mission UK" which is a pain as all their other albums are indexed as "The Mission". I have tried editing the artist name, meging the two bands together and amending it via the add on tag editor but to no avail. The same applies between "Siouxsie & The Banshees" and "Siouxise and the banshees"

I have done a bit of searching and have turned off all automatic updtaing in the options menu and the privacy sessions but whatever I do does not seem to stop it overwriting what I change it to! please help! Many thanks

A:WMP 12 changing artist names

This is done each time you add new songs to the library. WMP checks to ensure all files match the tag info. You can disable it, but it will then never update any songs that are added.

Hey, I've recently had a pretty tedius problem which I can't figure out. A few days ago, I figured my computer was just too old and slow to run Windows XP efficiently, so I decided to try to multi-boot Windows XP with Ubuntu. While I was partitioning my hard drive, I deleted my Windows XP partition, (which was Partition 1 and my C: drive). But for some reason, my recovery partition (Partition 2; D:) then decided to assume the role of Partition 1 C:. So now I am only able to install Windows to my D: drive as Partition 2, and I cannot delete Partition 1 (C:), because it is my factory default recovery partition (It was D: but it got switched to C: when I deleted my old Windows XP partition).

Now I have done a fair amount of research on this already, so please do not suggest going to the Disk Manager and renaming them there... As I just get this error:
"Windows cannot modify the drive letter of your system volume or boot volume"

Also, I have already tried that one method which involves going into regedit (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/MountedDevices) and renaming them there. That just locked my computer and caused me to have to reinstall again...

This wouldn't sound like a big deal at first, but as I've tried to use various applications, I'm constantly bombarded with errors saying that it cannot find the specified disk, or something to that effect.

Here are my computer specs incase you need them:
OS: Windows XP Home Ed SP2
Processor: AMD Athlon 2.08 GHz proce... Read more

A:Changing drive names

Sounds like you managed to set the partition 2 active, or the proprietary HP MBR sets that partition active when it sees that Partition 1 does not have an OS installed, or is unallocated.
Did you happen to move partition 2 using the partitioning software? Does the recovery partition now show as the first partition on the disk, or is it still the 2nd?
Did you create a new partition 1 and format it, or boot with the Windows disk and create the partition from within Windows setup?

Make sure when you partition the drive that you set partition 1 as the active partition. You can use a Win98 boot floppy or CD and set it active with Fdisk, or use your partitioning software. If you used Gparted, I believe it refers to it as the Boot Flag; right click the partition, choose manage flags. Make sure only one partition has the boot flag set.

Hey guys.

This may sound not important or maybe stupid, but for someone who shops online, I'm always wary.

Basically, I made a few PowerPoint presentations with dates for my exams. I named them 'Exam Timetables'. After I check back a week later, it's 'exam timetables' with the capitals missing. Again, I know it sounds pathetic, but I just highly doubt that these file names would change so randomly on it's own accord. I really don't want to start shopping online only to have card details taken. My worst fear is that something is accessing my files, because I have some sensitive files on my computer with info I'd rather not have in the wrong hands.

Is this file name change normal or is there something on my computer? And if so, what can I do about it?

Any advice is appreciated! I am using Windows Vista.

I have installed MalwareBytes and recently it has found a few potentially unwanted programs, mainly from that MyWebSearch which I have never been on, nor can think of anyway they could have been installed.

Dont know when it happened but I can no longer change file names without losing the ability to use the file. For instance renaming an avi file will cause it to be unusable. This didnt used to be. Any help? thanx.

A:Changing File names

From the sounds of it, the setting in windows to "Hide Extentions for Known File types" has become un-checked, so now when you rename a file you are accidentally deleting the file extention and windows then won't recognize the file.
When you look at the file you want to rename does it say something like "<file name>.avi" if it does, when you rename the file you have you have to ensure that you leave the ".avi" bit or the file will become unknown.
If this is the case, then all you need to do is go back and add in the file extention for any of the files that have stopped working - eg add ".avi" back onto any AVI files that have stopped working.

Let's say you inherit a computer from someone else and it has their name and/or organization listed as the licensed owner in Windows and now, it's yours, so you want to change this. Navigate your way to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ Windows\ Current Version.

(navigate by doubleclicking each of these.) In the right pane, you'll see RegisteredOrganization and RegisteredOwner in the Name column. Right-click the one you want to change, select Modify, and on the Value Data line of the resulting dialog box, type the correct information. Click OK, repeat these steps for the other value, if desired, and close the Registry Editor

Windows NT allows for file names up to 128 characters. However, when we try to archive files onto CDs, the CDs will only allow for file names with 64 characters and truncates the file names. This in turn renders all the hyperlinks in the files useless. Is it possible to change the settings in NT to only allow file names up to 64 characters?

A:changing the file names settings in NT

I don't think so, I do believe that is part of the filesystem and the File Allocation tables. How are the filenames being entered in the first place? If it is by end users your only option would be to educate them or build an input system in Access or something that would only allow the 64 charachters for file names. There might also be the option of renaming them via batch file and create a cross referenced index to the original filename.

I recently had to reformat/reinstall Windows XP Pro. During the setup process for XP, I was asked to enter the owner's name and company, then in a later screen I was asked to enter any User names. However, once I had registered the computer to "Tim [lastName]", it wouldn't let me enter "Tim" as a user. Instead I typed in "Me", hoping I could fix it later. This is now the Admin user account. After Windows finished installing, I went into Control Panel -> User Accounts -> Change an account, and was able to change the name of the Admin user from "Me" to "Tim". Now when I start up Windows, the user is displayed as "Tim."

However, all of the user-specific directories (like "My Documents", "My Music", etc) are still found in: "C:\Documents and Settings\Me\[My Music, etc.]" When I try to change the name of the "Me" directory, I get the error message: "Me is a Windows system folder and is required for Windows to run properly. It cannot be moved or renamed."

Is there a way to change the name of this folder to "Tim"?

A:Changing System User Names

Rename Tim back to Me.
Create a new user named Tim.
Copy your documents and files to the new account.
Delete the Me account

If you've installed any user specific programs, re-install them.
If using Outook or Outlook Express for email, you'll need to export your email and contacts, then import it into the other account when you've set the program back up.

okay.... s/he is set up as a user, so to fix the documents and setting part of things go to control panels -> Users and delete him/her and add yourself... when you login as you , the documents and settings folder will have your name instead.

As for the computer and stuff, that was set up on installation, and would most likely involve registry editing, so I will leave that to someone more experienced in that area.

I have never had this happen before and I am having to edit batch files or change file names to get batch files to work. The odd thing is that when this same disk is read in Windows, the file names appear correct (with hyphens and "~1").

So I like to think that I can fix what ever I need to on my laptop but this has me stumped.

I had a boyfriend (who was soon after an ex) get rid of a virus on my laptop. He thought it was funny to change my profile name. While I've gotten it kinda back to the way it was suppose to be, the author on documents is still coming up "boobies".

I go into Configure advanced user profile properties and the name comes up as MATTEO\boobies.

I don't know how to make this go away and I'm afraid to send documents to people because I don't know if this is going to show up.

I've tried everything I can think of to try to change it, but I'm coming up short. PLEASE HELP ME!

A:Changing Advanced User Profile Names

Sending documents to people should not come up that way with that on there, as you can change the author name under office or openoffice for example.

Have you tried changing it under Control panel-user accounts and family safety, user accounts?

You could also make a new administrator account, and copy your data to the new profile and delete the old one.

By the way, apologies for my gender. Men are sometimes stupid.

See tutorials:

This might help to change the name:

If that does not work, create a new account, copy your data to the other account, and then delete the old profile:

How can I change the display name of an email in Outlook 2003 inbox? So, for example, if "[email protected]" sends me an email, my inbox may display, in the "from" column, "Joe Smith". But, with the same email address, it might display just "Joe". Same issue with non-AOL emails. One of my main clients has both an AOL and non-AOL address he uses, and his two email addresses show up as five different people in my inbox, in various forms ("joe", "joe smith", "[email protected]", etc.).

I'd like to change the display names of the two email addresses so they are the same (e.g., "Joe Smith"), and thus would sort and group together when I choose to sort by "from".

Thanks in advance for any assistance...

Hi johnbrowning

Welcome to Tech Support Guy Forums!

Did you try changing the Display Name field in the Contacts window?
You can add several e-mail addresses in one Contact window.

I have a set of three workbooks, and would like to copy particular columns (that always remain at the same location) from these workbooks to a new workbook.

The PROBLEM here is that the names of the workbook are never the same. Is there a way to copy data from such workbooks?

Also can it be done with the (offending) workbooks closed? (This might be asking a lot, and im fine with doing this while they're open, but it would be better if they were closed.)

I probably should mention that I want a macro to help me do this (which is why the changing workbook names where I copy from are a problem). The columns copied are always the same however, like I mention above.

Hope someone can help me with this.

Thanks again.

Hi, I recently ripped music from a few of my CD's and all the file names are in this format "various artist song" I would like to get rid of the word various before all the artist and song information, but would not like to go through renaming hundreds of songs. If anyone has any utilities or other means of changing this, I would be very pleased.

Hello all ... does anyone know of an easy way of changing the name of a number of different files or folders at the same time? For example, I have a CD Rip (legally obtained of course!!) and the MP3 file names all are in this format: (band_name)_(album_Title)_(TrackNumber)_(Name_of_the_Track).mp3. Can I change the MP3 File names to this format: (TrackNumber) - (Name of The Track).mp3 without going in to change each file name individually? I.E., I would like to eliminate the Band & Album name from the file names, and change the underlines (_) to spaces ( ). I'd like to do the same to a number fo folder titles at once.

Is that kind of "batch" utility available?

As always, Thanks!!

Get Mp3/Tag Studio a freeware Mp3 tag editor (although it does have a nag screen). Use the direct rename files option.

I picked up an older Compaq computer running XP from a friend and am trying to change the windows system file located in C:documentsand settings from his name to mine.  I have already renamed the registered owner using regedit.  Any ideas how I can rename this folder?

A:Changing Windows Systems File Names

System file? You mean the profile folder I presume. I don't think that's possible or feasible.
You just need to create your own profile and then delete his. Here's how...
Open Control Panel, User Account and create a new account. Make it an administrator account.
Log off his account and log into yours.
Go back to User Accounts and delete his account. If I'm remembering correctly it will ask you if you want to preserve his profile files. You should just nuke it all but the choice is yours.

Dear Forum Users
Kindly help. I just bought a Samsung ATIV Pro with Windows 8. There was a default user Alison Brown. I changed the user name to my daughter's name as the Administrator.
We took some pictures using the Camera in the Camera Roll.
However suddenly (a day after this), the machine simply rebooted and it reverted back to Alison Brown. Cant understand what happened. All files saved earlier with the changed name seem lost. Cant find them anywhere.
Any ideas what happened and how I can get these files back?

Thank you for any help in this!

Somewhere along the way, I fiddled with a setting and now the only folder that is ever created on my camera is 100K7430. It use to be that I would get 101K7430, 102K7430, ect. So now once I transfer in the photos, and delete from the camera, a new folder is created, 100K7430. I've checked out the Kodak EasyShare help files, on line as well, checked my settings in the software and still, nothing.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!
