Ideapad 110 stuck at starting windows, Windows 7

Q: Ideapad 110 stuck at starting windows, Windows 7

CaseI installed Windows 7, with a DISM USB, on a Ideapad 110. Now it can't boot windows it is stuck at the starting windows screen. I have tried to boot in safe mode with no luck it seems to get stuck on loading a driver. I was thinking of recreating the DISM image but it takes hours so hopefully there is another way. Thank you in advance. - Mads

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

FixSo after a bit of messing with the bios, which I sould have done first, I found out that pure UEFI was on. For those who don't know Windows 7 runs legacy and not UEFI, so after turning that off it started to boot normally.

EDIT: Should be aswRVRT.sys
Computer worked fine in the morning. Then I turned it off later (had windows update)
then when I came home in the afternoon to open my PC it just didnt work.
When I try to go to safe mode it just gets stuck at aswRVRT.sys.
If it helps I already ran FRST.

Hi all,

So I have a dell optiplex 755 and have windows 7 n (the euro one w/o media player) installed and for the past 2 months the following situations have been recurring:

Start windows and boots successful
-after leaving my computer on for an extended period of time and then waking it up from "sleep" it would abruptly shutdown and then restart.

After a couple times of this happening it would then repeat the same process however it would randomly go to startup repair, run start up repair which wouldn't find any solutions and then turn off the computer. I would then sometimes turn on my computer and it would run fine and I would be able to get past the starting windows screen.
Recently I have had the above process repeat several times with being able to get passed the windows starting screen only once in about 20 tries.

I called dell and the operator mentioned the "fbi virus" right away but then wanted me to pay to have it fixed by remote access however I am short on cash so that was out of the question.....

Sorry for the length of the description, if you are confused at all by the wording please don't hesitate to ask me for further description.

Any help is appreciated!

A:Getting stuck at starting windows screen, windows logo absent

Personally, I doubt that your issue is being caused by the FBI virus because you are not getting the associated FBI warning screens; yes? Wow... I wonder how Dell was able to come to that conclusion so quickly. Anyway, have you tried running the Dell diagnostics and/or does your Dell diagnostic lamps indicate what the cause of the failure might be when your rig hangs on boot?

Our 64 bit desktop machine is stuck at the Starting Windows log in screen and I could use advice.

I have 4 Dell computers all using Windows 7- 1 on a single license and 3 on a 3 user license: 2 32 bit laptops and a 64 bit desktop. All 4 were upgraded within the last year from Vista. Two days ago the desktop was stuck on the Starting Windows screen. I fired up one of the laptops to troubleshoot and it had the same issue. I restarted the third computer, my son?s laptop, which was working fine, and it too had the same problem. All three were stuck at the Starting Windows screen for over 12 hours. The next day my son rebooted all 3 and the 2 laptops finally went to a log in screen, but the desktop is still stuck at Starting Windows.

I have tried System Repair and System Restore in Normal Mode. We are able to get into the system in Safe Mode with Networking and we did a virus and malware scan. I also have unplugged all external devices.

So far no luck. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.

A:Windows 7 Home Premium is stuck on the Starting Windows screen

It sounds like your network got infected.

Work through these steps for Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot.

Worst case scenario is you'll need to copy out your files to quarantine and clean reinstall the machines on which Win7 can't repair, but it's a much cleaner install than the Vista upgrade.

M installing windows 7 form an unlegit copy of windows xp (I didn't to that, friend did :(. He kinda ripped me off, anyway) we bought a good legit copy, did a custom install from xp, not from disc as it would not let us, due to some kind of virtual drive being created, when unlegit copy was installed (I think). When it went to restart, it started up, loaded a bit, than went to a black screen where it read "starting windows" except without the usual logo. We are planning to do a hard drive format to clean it up and boot off disc to fix, any other simpler solutions?

A:[SOLVED] Windows 7 install stuck on starting windows with no icon?

If you are trying to upgrade XP to Windows 7, you can't as there's no upgrade path from XP to Windows 7. Windows 7 has to be installed on to an empty partition using a full version Windows 7 DVD (ie not an upgrade version).

I hard shut it down, it get suck again same on Windows logo and same "please wait", hard shut down, choose safe mode, and the same thing happens yet again! I cannot get into the computer whatsoever and the machine was running PERFECTLY two weeks ago! It was flawless two weeks ago and now it won't get past the startup screen!

Asus laptop, Windows 7, about 6 years old, Kaspersky anti-virus. I don't really have any problems with this computer. I haven't used the computer in several weeks. I plugged it in to charge the battery and pressed the power key. The computer got stuck on the 'Starting Windows' screen for a couple hours. I left it that way because I wasn't sure if it was finishing up any type of update. But I figured that was long enough, so held down the power key 10+ seconds to do a forced shutdown. But nothing happens. The computer is just plain stuck where it is. There are no peripherals attached, no SD card, no CD/DVD in the drive. Any suggestions?

A:Windows 7 stuck on 'Starting Windows' screen and won't shutdown

Remove the battery and power source so it shuts off.

Then turn it back on.

If your system is freezing, that is not a good sign and is usually caused by hardware failure.

Check your HDD for errors, and then run a memtest.

My Ideapad 310-15IKB, with Windows 10, and bought two months ago, won't start. It had been notifying that updates were needed, but once I pressed the update the button, it would not update. Two days ago it froze, and has not started since. When I try to start it, it goes to the first screen where the Lenovo logo appears, but will not go any further. I have tried starting in safe mode, but, although it does say (behind logo) that it is getting ready to repair the system, it still does not go any further. What can I do? Will reinstalling Windows 10 by myself invalid the warranty?

I am using Windows XP Home edition on an Eee PC. I am unable to boot Windows. If I try to go into Safe Mode, I get a blue screen with "Windows is starting up..." but it never starts. Please help. The PC does not have a recovery CD...I believe I can reinstall Windows from the computer. I found this and went through the steps but don't want to lose all My Documents so I didn't follow through.

"Turn off your computer and unplug the power cord for 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back in, hit the Power On button and immediately start tapping F2 until the BIOS screen shows up.
Once it shows up, hit the F9 button. It will ask you to restore everything to default and hit ?OK?.
Go to the Boot tab and highlight Boot Booster and hit enter. Now highlight ?Disable? and then hit the enter button.
From there, scroll up one or two spaces and hit highlight the Boot Configuration and hit enter. Highlight Quiet Boot and hit enter. Disable it.
Hit F10 and enter, then immediately start tapping F9. Once you see it saying ?Loading pre-installation environment? quit tapping the F9 key. This is where you will reinstall Windows.
Once it comes up it will ask you if you?re sure you want to reinstall Windows. (Remember: you?ll lose EVERYTHING on your computer if you do this.) Hit the OK button.
From here it walks you through the Symantec Ghost reinstallation wizard."

Hi Claryfray
If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight Repair your computer, and then press Enter
When loaded Run Startup Repair

A:Stuck at "Windows is starting up"

Go to Start, Run and type msconfig. Press OK. Click on the Services tab. Check Hide all Microsoft Services. Uncheck all the remaining services. Go to the Startup tab. Uncheck all the items there. Press OK. A dialog will pop up asking if you want to restart. Press Restart.

If it works go back into msconfig and put a check mark on half the items. Reboot. If the problem still persists switch to the other half of items. Keep doing this, one by one if necessary, until you find the culprit.

Report back with your findings.

my computer has been acting up ever since before and after I fixed a virus using the forums here (see http://www.techsupportforum.com/f100...it-334618.html. for the virus stuff) My computer was working fine for a day or so but then started to boot up really slow.
I've done everything I can think of- clearing cache's, temporary files etc. defragmentation, chkdsk /r (atleast 24 times), even to the extent I re-installed windows, but then I had to re-install most of the Windows stuff again (eg. windows SP3).
My computer was so slow it would take 20 mins to boot up to be able to do anything but then after that it would be fine. Now I can't get past the 'Windows is starting up .....' page I'm at my wits end here please help me if you can if there's any information you require I'd be happy to reply.

Many thanks in advance

Unplug all other HD's and peripherals,

Boot into BIOS setup, reset to defaults, save changes. If an EFI BIOS you'll need to decide if you want UEFI BIOS vs. Legacy BIOS. If UEFI follow these special steps for Install, otherwise enable Legacy BIOS or Compatibility Support Module to proceed with normal install:

Set DVD drive first to boot, HD second, set SATA controller to AHCI, Save changes and Exit.

Then boot into Windows 7 installer DVD or flash stick burned or written using tool and latest ISO for your licensed OS version here. I would use a fresh ISO written with tool in Step 2 as yours is in question.

At first installer screen Press Shift + F10, or enter System Recovery Options to open a Command Box, type:

SELECT DISK 0 (after confirming Windows 7 target HD #)

Next click Install Now, then Custom install to Clean Install Windows 7 to the partition you created. If it fails then report back at which step and the verbatim error message.

In addition read over these steps to understand the tools and methods which work best to get and maintain a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. The steps are the same for retail.

After install you can adjust partition size or Create new partitions for data, etc. in Disk Mgmt. You are creating the partition here for the purpose of wiping the HD and marking Active which overcomes certain install failu... Read more

Many of the threads I have found on here regarding being stuck on the starting windows screen did not cover my issue. My computer was running very slow yesterday while I was playing a game, and my internet browsing was also slow. I started to shut it down for a quick restart and nothing really wanted to shut down, so I forced it down manually. Ever since then, the computer does not want to move past the starting windows screen.

It prompts me to either run the system repair or start normally. System repair takes me to a black screen, no cursor, and just sits there. Starting normally makes me stay stuck on the starting windows screen. No amount of time makes it move forward. I cannot get into my system to run an OS repair from the disk, I can't access Safe Mode, I can't log in to get administrator rights, I can't do ANYTHING. No amount of time letting it sit unused will make it "cool down" - I thought maybe my fans running a little hot and loud was a problem.

Can someone help?

Wanted to add as well - being as how I'm not very computer savvy when it comes to these things, I can't give you a good idea of what I'm running in the system. I built it through iBuyPower a few years back, and since I can't access anything on my system, I can't do any sort of diagnostic or system analysis to post that kind of information.

A:Stuck on Starting Windows screen

This is a very basic answer but a cure for your problems. If you have backed up your important files e.g. music, videos etc. then use your operating system disk to reinstall the entire system. You had your computer built for you, they would have sent a recovery disk or disks to reinstall the system with the computer (in most cases this is done with custom builds).

Find the first disk in the set (there maybe only one disk) pop it into the disk drive, force the computer to power down (hold the power button in for 5 seconds). Then power on the computer. When the boot screen appears press the key that allows you to choose which device to boot from and choose the disk drive. The boot screen will show the keys to press for just a few seconds. Like F12 for boot device. Not all BIOS versions use the same keys. Just look and note the keys that are referred to your boot screen. It may sneak by you the first time but once you have noted the correct key to press, you'll be all set for the next boot-up.

If you do not have that option then you need to enter BIOS by pressing whatever key will allow you to enter Setup or BIOS. Once you're in the BIOS chip (screen) you can change the boot order so the disk drive (optical drive) is in the first position. When you power on the computer the machine will look at your disk drive first and see the recovery disk. Once the disk information loads you'll be prompted with a few questions. My advise is always perform a new installation.

recently my computer cant boot up and is stuck at starting windows, sometimes it even gets stuck at boot splash screen too(when this happens I turn off pc power and hold power button for a few seconds then it can again get past splash but gets stuck at starting windows).

When this happens I have to do a system restore, it will work again then a few days later the same thing happens.

I thought maybe the motherboard bios is corrupted or something, but after doing restore the pc works so I guess I can rule that out?

I think the culprit is a windows update because this started happening after a windows update was installed, also when I restore the pc to prior to the update it will boot up.

why is this happening? I'm using windows 7 professional, motherboard is gigabyte Z68ap D3 (or something like that -_-

Change your Windows Updates setting to check for updates but let me choose whether to install them.
Here is a tutorial by Brink that explains WU settings:

Then install updates one at a time to find which one(s) are causing your issue.
If you find specific update(s) causing your issue post back with specific KBs.

The laptop reaches the starting windows screen and won't progress farther. I've left it for around forty five minutes without any result. Start up repair failed to solve it and two different system restores did nothing.I tried to start it in safe mode, but it stopped loading once it passed "CLASSPNP.SYS".Some other fourm posts described simliar Issues, and they were suggesting to uninstall some programs they'd deemed bloat ware. (One mentions: Verisure, Live essentials, iMesh programs, Activex programs and boot enhancer)Though I'm not sure how I could uninstall anything currently; and I'm not comfortable uninstalling programs without a clear idea of what they are, or if it's truly necessary to remove them.

I have narrowed it down to hot the HDD or memory. I've put another HDD with Windows 7 on it, getting the same results. The MemTest 86+ cd actually loads and runs, came up 100% with no errors.
Other suggestions that I have found use bootable CDs that want to start Windows first. The Windows 7 CD, Windows Defender Offline, Windows Recovery disk all get stuck at the same place as the HDD, the Starting Windows screen.

I'm at a loss, so any help would be appreciated...

I like to ask for help as well,

the pc I'm trying to fix gets stuck on the Starting Windows text right before the 4 color dot animation. I have one week old clone of the installed drive (for back up) it booted without problems once, and then on second boot it hangs exactly the same as the original drive.
Both were removed and scanned with antivirus software in another system, no infections found.
both drives checked with Chkdsk no problems found

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Just tried this youtube help, but the original on hard drive it did not help and one the cloned drive it booted once without problem, used the PC for 30min or so then I re-booted and the problem is back

So my wife's computer suddenly refuses to boot, and hangs on the Starting Windows screen. Have tried a number of things found in threads on various sites:

I CAN boot into Safe Mode w/ Networking. Ran MalwareBytes, Windows Defender and Spybot S&D. No issues found.

Ran System File Checker tool (SFC) - found no issues

Tried to Repair function -- no issues

Tried to restore back to a couple of system restore points from the last 2 weeks (she shuts down every day or two, so thought that at least would have worked). No help.

Tried to do a Clean Boot (only Microsoft Services enabled). Still hanging...

Tried Last known good configuration from the F8 startup menu... No luck...

What next??? Any help appreciated!

I used to have issues with XP not wanting to start up only 50% of the time. When it wouldn't start up it would get stuck at the black screen with the XP logo and the blue progress bar going across. Eventually the progress bar would just freeze up and it would just get stuck there. I used to be able to turn it off and on again and it would start up normally so I never stressed about it. I did recently format and reinstall XP completely and it quit doing it for a while so I thought I resolved it....

However, recently, it started getting stuck at the XP logo everytime, no matter how many times I turned it off and on again. So today, I opened it up, unplugged and replugged in everything including the CPU, video card, fans, hard drives, and RAM (four 1GB sticks).

After plugging everything back in, now when I start it up, the fans and drives all start moving but I just get a completely black screen screen. No text, no bios info, no motherboard logo, no XP logo, nothing on the screen. During this, the internal speaker will beep for a moment every few seconds. I turned it back off and made sure everything was plugged in securely but it still does it.

So to narrow down what is causing the problem I took out three of the RAM sticks so there was only one stick in the first slot. Turned it back on and it showed the normal boot up info and once again got stuck at the XP logo like before. I am able to boot into safe mode when it is like this. I turned it off, added a ... You could have an issue with your Video Card driver But to be sure download Memetest and burn the image to a boot CD and run several passes of the tests with each RAM chip separately and then together. If it passes, get into Safe Mode and uninstall the Video driver, then download the latest one. If you can't, then remove the Video card and use the onboard VGA port. If that works then you know it's your video card.

I have a Compaq CQ5500F desktop that will not get past the 'starting windows' splash screen during a fresh Win7 re installation.

So I inherited this Compaq that supposedly had a bad hard drive. I took it out, installed a used hard drive, and began to re install Windows 7 Home Premium. When the computer gets to the 'starting windows' screen, it freezes. Sometimes immediately when the page loads, sometime after the windows logo is formed. I cannot get past this screen.

Here is what I have already tried (in no particular order):

multiple different hard drives
different stick of RAM
re-seating the ram
using other ram slot
using only 1 stick of ram
multiple known working power supplies
tried different sata ports on motherboard
tried different sata cables
unhooked all non-essential stuff from motherboard
also tried to install Vista, WinXP, Ubuntu Linux
tried different Win7 installation disk
different DVD drive
tried installing via external DVD
disconnected the DVD
and finally...bought a new motherboard.

So, I guess my question would be: Does anyone have any suggestions that I have not mentioned? And, could it be the CPU that is bad? It's an AMD Sempron 140 2.7ghz processor.

I appreciate your help. Thanks.

I've been trying to install XP Pro x64, to no avail, it always gets stuck on the Setup is starting Windows. I tried pressing F5 at the beginning but my only options were ACPI Multiprocessor x64, ACPI Uniprocessor x64 and Other, the first two had no affect and I don't have any drivers or another disk drive anyway so I can't use other.

Is there some way I can make this work...?

I can't get past the Starting Windows screen.

My machine is:
Motherboard: ASUS Rampage III Extreme (USB 3.0, SATA 6Gb/s, 3X SLI capable)
Processor: Intel Core i7 980X
Motherboard Liquid Cooling by EK Waterblocks
Power Supply: 1.5 Kilowatt Silverstone Strider
Graphics Card: Dual 2GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon HD 5970 Liquid Cooled
Memory: 12GB Corsair Dominator GT DDR3 2000Mhz (6x 2GB) Tri Channel Memory
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64
Monitor: HP ZR30w

The motherboard bios is up to date, I've also tried the latest CCC (as well as older ones).

I can go into safe mode. If I delete all the ATI drivers (and run Driver Sweeper) then I can boot into normal mode. Once I install the latest CCC or just the DD the device shows the "Starting Windows" message and the windows logo and then freezes at the end and is stuck showing the logo and message.

If I use the ATI 9.12 DD then it shows a black screen after the Starting Windows. If I use 10+ then it just stays on the starting windows screen.

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I turned my computer off last night as per normal and woke up this morning to find that my computer pretty much won't get past the 'Windows starting' screen with the logo above it. After restarting I managed to get past it and got to the log in screen, however after typing my password my computer froze again, so I chose to turn it off and try again (may be worth mentioning right as I did this it appeared to log in).

I then tried using system restore which went through the process successfully but it did not work. When on the 'Windows Starting' screen the computer also restarted itself and went onto the blue screen. I tried to enter safe mode but when loading the files it again froze, and went to the blue screen and shut itself down.

Would greatly appreciate any help.

Running Windows 7, will give full specs if needed.

So this is a question long overdue as this problem actually occurred a few months ago. Much to my frustration now, I was idiotic enough to leave it without properly attempting to find a solution to it, instead using it as an opportunity to make myself an excuse to buy a new laptop. Well, fast forward a few months and I've begun to realise just how good a laptop it actually was, at least better than my current one. Classic, huh? Anyway, right on with it. I was playing the video game Team Fortress 2 on my laptop when suddenly it completely froze and there was just this annoying, loud repetitive whirring sound coming out. Without thinking twice, I immediately held the power button to turn the latop off, with a plan to restart it. However, when I did try to restart, it was stuck at my current predicament, "Starting Windows" screen.  I vaguely recall trying a system restore, but to no avail. Laptop can still boot up in safe mode, however.  Any kind of help is appreciated, and any further questions greatly welcomed. Thanks in advance. Note please, that my computer knowledge is equal to my common sense, i.e just about non-existent, so rather specific guides would be very nice too.

A:Probook 4530s stuck at "Starting Windows"

Hi: That is a tough one... Normally when that happens you have to reinstall the operating system. I would suggest if you can get into Windows Save Mode to copy any files you don't want to lose to a CD or usb flash drive (if you can do that in safe mode, I never tried it). If your notebook has the recovery manager software, you can try a factory reset by following the instructions at the link below or use your W7 recovery disks. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01867418 If you don't have either, and you live in the USA/Canada, you can order a set of recovery disks by contacting HP at 1-800-334-5144. Don't be so hard on yourself.  I have done it several times...

Hello liad mate please some system specs mate we cannot help if we do not know what we are working with System Info - See Your System Specs

Now I am assuming this is quite an old machine and maybe there are a few hardware problems such as the hard drive RAM etc etc

Now the other thing is what Windows media (7) are you trying to use - a retail or OEM version. Going back to XP is a retrograde step if you want my opinion because of the age of the system and the lack of any support.
