Preferred Solution: Crashing mid game constantly

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently just bought a new 750ti off newegg. installed it and managed to get a couple hours of no mans sky into it before everything started crashing.. Im still unsure if the graphic card has anything to do with the crashes. ive been playing assassins creed syndicate and manage to get 20 mins into it and it crashes. the crashes tend to start with the computer freezing with a sound loop for about 3 seconds then the fans speed up to max and everything crashes. it has happened a couple times while surfing the internet or just mid shutdown. Ive reinstalled windows 3 times, reinstalled drivers more times than i can count and have tested the hdd. Im at my last rope and really dont want to have to take it into a shop.
My specs are:
amd a10-7800
zotac gtx 750ti
8gb ram
evga 500w psu
seagate barracuda 1tb HDD

would really appreciate any suggestions or help..

I was playing Dota 2 on my laptop when I saw several small pixelated artifacts moving on the screen. I decided to alt-tab to see if my eyes were playing tricks on me, and the screen went black and I couldn't do anything. The screen was slowly flashing for awhile until there was a popup saying "Display driver has stopped responding and has recovered."

It continued to flash until I got a BSOD saying DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (igdkmd64.sys). I rebooted the computer only to have it do the same thing on the start screen with the artifacts still there until I got a BSOD again.

I'm now typing this in safe mode since I can't start up normally because of the constant crashing. Can anyone help me?

Hi jadz45122 & Welcome to the forums ^_^,

I have analysed your dump files and below has been provided an analysis of the same for informative purposes :-
VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE (116)
Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.
Arguments:
Arg1: ffffe000c3c42010, Optional pointer to internal TDR recovery context (TDR_RECOVERY_CONTEXT).
Arg2: fffff8005b490d90, The pointer into responsible device driver module (e.g. owner tag).
Arg3: 0000000000000000, Optional error code (NTSTATUS) of the last failed operation.
Arg4: 000000000000000d, Optional internal context dependent data.

So, according to the dump file, the 3rd argument is 0 which means the operation completed successfully yet the system crashed. Sounds strange right?
According to your description, if you are getting artifacts, that would be most likely a hardware problem.
Could you please perform the Furmark and check the temperatures?

FurMark Video Stress Test - free from here: FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net
FurMark Setup:
- If you have more than one GPU, select Multi-GPU during setup
- In the Run mode box, select "Stability Test" and "Log GPU Temperature"
Click "Go" to start the test (Looks like it's "BURN-IN test" now)
- Run the test until the GPU temperature maxes out - or until you start having problems (whichever comes first).... Read more

Hi there,

I have had a few problems with my custom built computer. I believed at first that I had malware and virus issues, however a nice technician on the virus forums said there was no problem.

I am receiving the dreaded Blue Screen of Death fairly frequently, I am not playing any games, just browsing the internet when it happens.

Secondly, my browsers (both Mozilla 3.6.8 and IE 8) are both crashing very frequently - Mozilla comes up with a report message saying it has crashed and asks me whether to send or not to send the report, whereas IE reloads the tabs frequently, but to a point the page cannot be reloaded and has to be closed down.

As well as this, a lot of my executable files are crashing - I am getting error messages from things like java, flash, avg, my network card, windows messenger etc saying that they have crashed.

This problem is happening very frequently, I cannot seem to go half an hour without browsing with no problem.

If anyone could help it would be VERY MUCH appreciated!

Thanks.

A:BSOD, exe files constantly crashing, browsers crashing.

You need to post some hardware details about your custom built computer.
Something is unstable and it could well be the memory modules.

In addition, when you see a BSoD click details, it will generally state which executable caused the problem.

I would be tempted to look for a copy of memtest and run some memory diagnostics.

A:haveing problems playing a game with out it either randomlly crashing the game...

first of all is this limited to this game alone?do other games run fine?check for any overheating signs, install the latest drivers for your video card and your mobo, direct x and any other update.see if you meet the minimum requirements for the game.(this was just the official response you would get from a techie..so bear with me)

if this is happening in this game only and not in any other and your pc isnt overheating and meeting the minimum requirements, then there is a good chance its an issue with your optical drive, try a combo drive if you've got any around.its an incompatibility issue with some of the games.good luck

I have an ongoing issue where I log onto the glyph launcher, log onto my server, play for a while, sometimes hours with no issue but then BOOM, the game just closes on me and I'm booted back to the launcher. I have to push the PLAY button again, log into the server again, but it seems once the game boots me out then the crashing becomes more frequent.

I at first reported it to Trion support (useless) all they do is copy and paste previous responses from previous games sometimes not even removing the other game titles from it, but all in all I have spent over a month with them and I have:

1. Expanded my paging file to initial size of 1X RAM size max size 2X RAM size (to handle the memory of the game)
2. Switched from DirectX11 down to DirectX9 and back again. (in game)
3. Lowered my FPS (frames per second) to 100 (in game)
4. Switched off Multithread rendering and VSync (in game)
5. They have also had me change the priority of the game archeage.exe to high to see if that helps and it doesn't
( I would start the launcher, log onto the game and the server, go into the character screen, then cntrl + alt + delete into task manager and right click the process and set the priority to high then go back into the game)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The display adapter is: Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family.
I`ve uninstalled and re-installed several times but still no good, it`s annoying as i had it running perfectly on another toshiba laptop.

I'm starting this thread in this forum because my PC crashes when using my hard drive with Windows 7 on it and also with the drive I have XP on. I'm guessing something is wrong with my video card, but I want to make sure before I buy a new one.

This is the blue screen crash report I'm getting with Win 7:

to your computer.

Attempt to reset the display driver and recover from timeout failed.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen,
restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow
these steps:

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is properly installed.
If this is a new installation, ask your hardware or software manufacturer
for any Windows updates you may need.

If problems continue, disable or remove any newly installed hardware

If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart
your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup Options, and then
select Safe Mode.

Hi all.

I would appreciate some help with this issue. My Samsung RV511 laptop has recently just started crashing during browsing of the internet. Crashing to the extent that I cannot even load task manager and have to restart. I had my suspicions it was AVG as it took alot of my CPU power but to no avail, its still happening.

It appears as though my physical memory is a ridiculous 97% most of the time during crashing and I am not doing anything out of the ordinary. I have also scanned my computer for any malware/virus' but there is nothing.

Can anyone please help?

EDIT : Sorry about posting twice, i dunno how i did it...

Hi, i'm new to this forum and in need of help. Nearly every program that connects to the internet using the .net Framework, msn(all versions including 8BETA), Visual C# 2005 Express "devoexplore", Visual Basic 2005 Express "devexplore" and also any help file (using MSOHELP.exe), such as ones used in MS Office, they all slow down dramatically, normally crashing as soon as it's loaded. Another thing that made me think its when .net connects to the internet, is that it also happens when I insert the WebBrowser class in either C#, VB and even the PowerPoint VBA program, and it even crashes in the design mode of all those programs.

I have .net Framework 1.1 and hotfix (kb886903) and .net Framework 2.0.
I cannot uninstall ANY .net 1.1 or 2.0 as it says "The insallation source is unavailable."

Any Idea?

Dunno if it'll help but my specs are:
AMD Athlon 3500+
Winxp SP2
1GB RAM
GeForce 6600GT

Hello serpentracer

There are several steps to fix the problem!!

1.Disable all IE9 addons
2.Reset IE9 settings
3.Scan for Maleware (Use Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware, anti-virus and spyware removal download)
4.Install all updates

If the problem is still there, take a look at the IE solution center from Microsoft.

Yes I am another one of the thousands that believe I have infected my PC somehow. I have to do a lot of searching all over the internet and have recently had to have my HD wiped and the OS reinstalled due to technical issues beyond out IT's control. They only believe in MS Forefront as a network security. I have also installed SpyBot and Malwarebytes, and as of today, have also installed HiJack This and Runscanner to see some additional items. I have been using Firefox and IE8, but recently had to remove Firefox due to viral infections from a JAVA update! Hi all. I'm new to the community, but this is my second Think Pad. Brand new, T460P, 6820HQ, 16G Ram, 512G SSD, extra life battery, running the Windows 7x64 Pro downgrade from Windows 10Pro. I've had it for about 3 weeks now, and I have a problem (and have had since day 1) where internet explorer keeps crashing. Typically, I'll get a popup message that says that internet explorer has stopped responding and needs to close. If I wait for a few seconds before acknowledging the error, I don't "normally" lose my place, but sometimes, if it happens while I'm typing text, It'll wipe out my typing. I have run windows update, and lenovo update, to no avail. Has anyone experienced this issue, and been able to successfully fix it? Open to most suggestions. don't need to hear answers such as "use chrome, firefox, etc' and 'why windows 7, use windows 10' I have my reasons for all, and it I.E. shouldn't be crashing. Same version of I.E. is perfectly stable on my t500 running identical OS / updates. I've included a screen snip of the error.

Hey there,

I have a Gateway GT5628 Desktop comp. running Windows Vista Home Premium.

I have essentially abandoned this computer and really want to get it back on it's feet. The problem I have is that the comp will spontaneously crash and restart with no warning or consistency. It ranges from 5 minutes to an hour, but rarely can it go longer than that without "revving up", crashing, and restarting.

I've run numerous spyware, adware, and virus scans and protections and they haven't helped. I even took it to Geek Squad and they didn't know how to help either.

Is there a solution, is there anything I can do, AM I INFECTED?

Thanks so much for your help.

Hi karlstpats and welcome

The Exception code C00000005 is a memory exception. Basically a memory problem. To verify this please download a third party application called memtestx86, burn it to a cd, and run it for at least 5 passes.

Let us know if you need further assistance with that.

Hi guys,
I'm having a problem with AIM (version 6.8.12.4) and Firefox disconnecting from the internet sporadically. I noticed it first with AIM. I'll be messaging people and getting no response. A couple minutes later I see the buddy list window say that the connection failed and it automatically restarts. The problem is that it does this almost constantly now and I basically can't hold conversations through AIM.

I also noticed that Firefox (version 3.0.3) stalls out when loading pages pretty often. Like I'll be watching a video and it will stop downloading the video all together. Or if I click on a webpage it will begin loading it and then stop part-way.

I'm not sure what to make of this problem. I guess could be either hardware or software that's malfunctioning. So far I've tried updating my network card's driver and switching ports on my router. I have an HP Media Center desktop running Windows XP. It's plugged into a Motorola cable modem and a Linksys wireless router, but my computer is plugged into the router. None of the other computers on the network are experiencing any problems. I've had overheating problems with this computer before. Could it be a damaged network card or a damaged ethernet cable?

Thanks for your help! Let me know if you need any more info.

A:AIM Constantly Crashing

Correction: The problem is occurring on both of the computers that are plugged into the routers, but the computer using the wireless internet is not having any problems. Broken router?

check event viewer (type eventvwr in search) for critical errors (they have red in the left column) that say app hang, app crash, or anything related to sound

when you find them use the built in snipping tool to make a screen shot, and up load it to us using the attachment icon (shaped like a peper clip ) in the reply form

Hello everyone,

i just built a new pc (see specs)

and ALL of my programs either have crashed once or haven't even launched, a quick reboot fixes the problems sometimes, but when some programs work other programs don't.

ex: my firefox will crash, but xfire works, then i reboot, and now firefox works but xfire doesn't.

i even rebooted once to find that ALL of my programs are "not responding" or instantly crashing, but some other useless programs (well, not useless but things i don't really use) such as minesweeper or paint will work.

i was wondering if changing to a 32-bit OS will fix most or all of these problems or would it rather be a hardware issue, maybe my HDD or RAM not finding files or not saving them correctly or something.

any help is greatly appreciated!

A:Programs Crashing Constantly

Sounds like you may have hardware problem. The quickest way to troubleshoot is by using the Event Viewer. By finding the Error(s) that occurs at the same time as the crash, we can better determine the cause(s):

Follow this path:
Control Panel Administrative Tools> Event Viewer> Click on System & Apps, one at a time on the left> look for Errors on the right> right click error> Properties> note description of error, Event# and Source.

There is a "copy" button below the up/down arrows. Click that, then go to any place that allows you to type (ie. notepad, wordpad, this board) and you can paste (use CTRL-V) the entire event details there. It makes for easy reporting of the event.

If you want to paste the Event here, you do not need to include the lines of code that follow the Description- but paste all else. Please do not include Warnings or Information Events.

Dirtydevlin,
I am having the same problem and I was thinking that I have to repair windows xp also. I had a terrible time trying to install the O/S to begin with. I constantly received errors during install. Such as, this so and so file was not copied to your hard drive correctly to try again press enter.
During the win xp setup I received a variety of stop errors. Frustrating. So I finally got the O/S in the computer and now I receive the errors that you have mentioned. I am looking for some resolution also.

My laptop keeps on crashing, whilst playing on world of warcraft, my laptop just completely switches itself off without warning. As of yet, has only crashed whilst playing wow. This is also not due to overheating, as im using a separate fan unit, after heat issues arose

Using an acer laptop - aspire 5610 - with Xp proffesional, media centre.

Also sometimes, after restarting the laptop, and selecting the screen name, it comes up with my background wallpaper, but no icons, start bar, etc - only way to get rid of this is turning the power button off.

Included a hijackthis log (hope i've done it right)

Thanks in advance.

Hi and welcome!

I looked at your HJT log, but as you are aware, only authorized people are allowed to verify information in this log. I personally, did not see anything WRONG with it. Once again, I’m not qualified on this board to act on HJT logs.

My reason for responding is that I will put my money on your system overheating and powering off! Even though you have the “plate fans”, this does not mean that the system will not overheat! I have been through the exact same process a few times with a couple of my laptops. They get hot, overheat and just power off even when having additional cooling underneath them.

Which, in theory would make sense. Your system gets hot because of the amount of pressure the system gets while playing the game. They are more processor and graphic intense than your regular applications. Have you ever tried watching a DVD on your system (if possible) and then seeing if it will shutdown? Maybe trying a game that is of the same intensity on your CPU and GPU?

Also, you have a ton of stuff starting up on your system. What amount of memory do you have installed and what is the memory usage on the system?

If you want someone to analyze your HJT log for you, you will have to put the thread in the “Malware Removal & Hijack This Log” area. You can contact a moderator and have them move the thread for you if you like.

Thanks!

Hello!

I got a problem. After I terminated by computer by the power switch, there's a program called OCMCTRES.EXE which keeps constantly crashing, that is, periodically every 1 minute I get a sign saying Ocmctres.exe has crashed.

I can't find it in the task manager. I can't find it if I search for it (only thing that shows are files in the Prefetch folder). Google won't show up anything for a search.

My only guess it has something to do with the USB-stick I had plugged into the computer at the time?

Please, anyone help?

SO here is what happened to my laptop HPpavilionZV5000.

I think after i used the program called ashampoo winoptimizer or maybe somekind of regist edit or perhaps my new TWEAKUI, my laptop crashes everytime it starts.
So upon start, it gives me an error message saying

Error loading document~1/owner/.../local~1/temp/XP50TM~1.dll
Could not find specific module.

i am thinking that there must be some dll missing.
SO here comes the frustrating part, after like 10 seconds, the process called wuauclt.exe starts running and stops and starts immediately again and then stops, i can see this through my process explorer. i have no idea why this windows update program works like that, so then i try to terminate it but i can't so i terminated the one of svchost.exe and that killed the wuauclt.exe from going on and off and using some around 30 of cpu constantly.
then after another 20 sec my comp goes to the "blue death" screen indicates system failure and says things about restarting with safe mode and asking for support and stuff, then i am forced to shut down cause it wont respond.

here it is:

Hi -

One reason for no BSOD dumps is your page file. The allocated base size of the page file on the OS drive must be > installed physical RAM.

System files show 8 GB RAM, yet page file base allocation - 6142 MB

Any reason for the page file on drive z: ?

Re-allocate the page file on OS drive c: - use "system managed" settings.

Also check system crash options -- should be set to "Kernel Memory Dump" which will result in a full kernel dump + a minidump upon BSOD.

Please see - NO KERNEL MEMORY DUMP FILES BEING PRODUCED UPON BSOD?

Hello,
as the title says firefox is continuously crashing on me. I'm not sure exactly what is the culprit of this, but it first started happening when I had a lot of programs open (I'm an architecture student, so we have to run a lot of pretty intense programs, and unfortunately my computer doesn't like that.) But it actually has started happening when it is the ONLY thing open, so I'm going to post a copy of my HJT log, and just want to know if anyone sees anything fishy.

Computer keeps crashing repeatedly. I've been trying to narrow down the cause but can't...

I can make it crash with graphics hardware accel on full when I load up a game such as Counterstrike and then minimize out to my desktop, my PC crashes and sound loops.

My PC also crashes occasionally when running iTunes. The sound loops and PC freezes.

Also occasionally happens when loading video files in VLC or from the Web via divx player or whatever.

There are also just the random crashes that happen under no set circumstances. The PC just freezes and sound loops, or I get a bluescreen.

I tested my RAM last night using a boot CD with RamTest, it's 100% working, no errors...
I've repaired my registry several times, I do that regularly. I run nod32 and spybot S&D, so that's clean. I've got several GB of HD space free...

When I turn my graphics hardware accel off I haven't been able to make the PC crash. This leads me to the assumption that it's my graphics card that's causing the crashes? Anything I can do to narrow this down? It's really annoying!... :(

Hi,

It sounds like you have a faulty video card or a power supply that's not strong enough.
If you're lucky it's the video driver that needs to be reinstalled/updated. What driver version are you using?
What are the system specifications?
Is there a video card or PSU you can borrow and try?

Just yesterday, I had received my graphics card back from ASUS. The card works now, but with a few issues. Firstly, my system crashes at random. It appears to not crash whilst I am playing a game, but it does crash whenever I have the computer idling.

System crash image is found here: http://i.imgur.com/AgYIUq5.png

Another form of crash is a BSOD for the error message stated as, "DRIVERS_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

The video card is an AMD R9 290. I have downloaded the latest drivers using the amd auto detector.

Any help to fix the crashing would be appreciated.

I have a problem. I will try to be as detailed as possible.
Computer: ASUS laptop X53S
OS: Windows 7 premium 64 bit
Antivirus software: ESET

For the last couple of months, whenever my computer has updates that require restart, my personalized setting (e.g., screen saver picture, my work and personal files on the desktop, toolbar icons I’ve chosen, etc.) will vanish after the computer has restarted; the screen will look the way it did when I first purchased it, with the generic brand logo on it, and all my files, settings, are gone). However, after fiddling with it for a few minutes (usually restarting it a few times) my personal settings would show up again. I turned off automatic updating after this happened a few times.

A few days later, however, my computer seemed to have a mental breakdown: if I tried turning it on (main user account-administrator), the screen would sometimes go blank (although it was still on), my personal desktop screen saver and tool bar icons were there but all of my files, and icons, and personal settings on the desktop would be gone and I couldn’t open anything, including the start menu; nothing worked. Interestingly, if I log in as another user (non-administrator), most programs will work, albeit not very well.

I then tried starting it in safe mode. When I log in to my main account (i.e., administrator user) in safe mode a box comes up every few seconds saying: “windows explorer has stopped working,” th... Read more

Basically I bought a second hand computer about a month ago. I've stuck XP on it, and it worked fine for a few weeks ago. Then, it started turning itself off every few hours. I thought maybe the CPU was overheating, so I replaced the thermal gel, which appeared to fix the problem. A few days later, it started re-setting itself, and upon start up, displayed the 'Active Desktop Recovery' screen, along with an error box, telling me that 'Window search indexer had encountered a problem and needed to close', which was followed by 3 or 4 similarly worded error boxes. I'm completely stumped. I've considered re-formatting it, but I'm not sure whether it's software or hardware problem. It also seems to be crashing at completely random intervals. Can anyone shed some light on what might potentially be wrong with it? I'd really appreciate it!

A:Computer constantly crashing. Help!

As it's second-hand I would start by testing the RAM & the hard drive:

RAM Test. As Windows seems to be unstable, I recommend using a bootable CD version to test it. Download the ISO image for creating bootable CD (Windows - zip) from here: Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic

Then download IMGBurn to create a CD from the ISO file: Download ImgBurn 2.5.5.0 - FileHippo.com

When the CD is created, boot your second-hand PC from it and run the test for at least five passes.

Hard Drive test. Download the drive manufacturer's diagnostic software from the appropriate link at top of this page: Hard Drive Diagnostics Tools and Utilities (Storage) - TACKtech Corp.
Again, I recommend you download the DOS version and make a bootable CD from the ISO file with IMGBurn. Boot the second-hand PC from that CD. The testing interface will open automatically. Select the hard drive to test and run the "long test" if available.

My internet browser repeatedly crashes within 5 minutes of my using it. It freezes and says not responding usually, after a few minutes of which I decide to shut it off. Sometimes it is only about a minute and it returns to then freeze again in a few minutes.

I think this could be malware related but I am not certain.

I am using IE 7 and Firefox.
