I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good day and welcome to the community. While your machine does have discrete graphics, the dGPU is integrated (i.e. soldered) onto the system board. It is not a socketed chip or daughtercard. Very few laptops offered any kind of dGPU upgradeability.

Hope this helps to clarify.Regards.

From ?lshw? (this is all the "Video" that is in my system apparently): product: 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:416]vendor: Intel Corporation [8086]bus info: [email protected]:00:02.0version: 06width: 64 bitsclock: 33MHz As you might imagine, graphical performance is a bit lacking.  I find out that it IS possible for the Z710 to have an "NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 745M 2GB graphics" courtesy of this page: http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z710/#tab-tech_specs So, it IS possible for my Z710 to get upgraded apparently so my question is how?  I cannot seem to find the card for sale on Lenovo.com and the only things I find on eBay are motherboards that, it would appear, I'd have to try and remove one of these nVidia cards from. Any help would be much appreciated.  I'm loving everything about this laptop BUT it's video performance. Thanks!

A:IdeaPad Z710 video upgrade options?

Hi rbettle  ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Amongst most laptops currently available GPU are built in from factory to have it fixed on the motherboard therefore not upgradable which includes Z710 .

Offered upgradable parts are shown on the hardware manual for reference on users doing upgrades but do not include GPU. FRU list of motherboards also on the same manual.

Availability of NVIDIA graphics models varies by supply as product specification show on machine variants (different machine number for each variants).

Hi, I bought the Idepad Z710 model with 16 gb of ram (default) and the seller told me that the notebook has 4 memory slots ram and upgrade is possible up to 32gb. I install and run the CPU-Z program to collect hardware information and the program confirmed that the laptop has 4 slots. I opened the notebook but I identified only 2 slots for memory ram. I wonder if the laptop really has 4 memory slots ram and upgrade to 32GB is possible. Additional information: the CPU is the Intel I7 47700MQ. Thanks in advance!

A:Ideapad Z710 Memory Upgrade up to 32GB RAM

Your seller must be thinking that he is selling a desktop. Which do you trust, your seller, CPU-Z or your eyes? Refer to page 41 of the hardware maintenance manual there are only TWO slots available.

Ok, here's the deal. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 laptop. It has a 1.6GHz AMD Turion processor. It also has an ATI Radeon Xpress 1150 Graphics card. I'm not sure how much memory it has and I don't know how to find out, but I think it's either 128MB or 256MB. Probably the former.

I wish to run a game that requires a 2.4GHz processor and a 256MB graphics card.

I know very little about what processors/graphics cards are compatible with my computer or how much they cost.

What are my options?

Hi,

I would like to upgrade the graphics card in my Optiplex 990, can anyone please let me know if there are any recommended PCI / PCI express cards that are known to be compatible with the slot power rating of the system board.

The PSU is not an issue as I upgraded the shipped 240W PSU for a Corsair HX650 with modular cabling so I have got enough juice for the card. Its the motherboard slot rating and any other factors that will impact on choice of upgrade card that I am not sure about. I tried to locate some documentation on the support section of the site but kept getting error messages (servers screwed up on weekend?)
If there is a technical document that gives the ratings for the PCI slots and what can be shoved into them I would be grateful for a link?

Thx

A:Optiplex 990 Mini Tower - Options To Upgrade Graphics With PCI Card?

You need to get a PCI Express x16 video card not a PCI.  If you have upgraded to a 650 watt corsair, then you should not have any limitations when you install a PCIe X16 video card.  It should configure to provide 75 watts and additional watts can be provided through the PCIe power cables on the power supply.

There are some old posts out there that consider the options for GPU upgrades on a Dell Inspiron 620 (Tower not slimline) given it's minimally spec'd PSU.
There seems to be a number of relatively recent NVidia cards marketed as low power, that rely solely on the PCI slot and do not have the extra 6 pin power source. Subject to size/space in the PC, and dual slow (one for venting) and the layout of the Inspiron internally, has anyone any experience successfully working with more recent cards, such as the low power GTX 750, 950 and even 1050.
My instinct says that there must be a problem, but if there is I'd like to understand exactly what. If it is worth a shot, I'd take a gamble as I've other machines that I know could handle one. Finally, if anyone is aware of more recent lower power Radeon graphic cards, I'd be happy to take advice on those.
For completeness, the current spec of the Inspiron is i5-2400, with 8GB memory, standard disk HD and that's about all.

Not unless you're talking about right angle riser, which is required in some small mini-ITX cases.
If the fans and fascia can be removed individually then yes, but I doubt it.
Easiest way, usually.
Only if you can return or sell your "unusable" card.

Well ive posted a thread like this many times, but this time is for real ive actually bodered to save up some money!!! and finally ready to get a new video card, however by the time it took for me to save up my money my agp slot has pretty much outdated so im needing a new system, I tried my luck on ebay found nothing so Ive spoke to my computer technician and he has found 2 systems for me, both costing $950, however 1 system has a better video card (x1650) however falling behind in cpu and motherboard, the other which has better motherboard and cpu, and includes a lot of extras (TV reciever card, better O.S keyboard an mouse etc) but falls behind in graphics card being a radeon x1300 , can people tell me of a graphic card which is around the same price as the x1300, but has much better peformance, because ive heard many bad things about the x1300 not just because it is a low end graphic card but because it has been sold too expensively considering its inferiority. (and btw I live in australia so all prices I mention are in $AUD)

Can sum please help, I want to get bak to my tech by later today.

I currently have a trident blade 32mb graphics card which has served me well - but I suspect is the poorer member of my desktop set-up.

So I am considering a new agp card but am not sure what to go for. I've had a look at dabs.com and due to cost have narrowed it down to the following:

radeon 9200 dvi vo 128mb

geforce fx5200 vo 128mb

dabs value gforce fx5200 dvi vo 128mb agp

dabs value 9200 dvi vo 128 mb ddr agp

these all come in between £50-60 - i won't pay anymore thn that.

I'm not sure what the difference is between dabs value ...

any others that would be worth considering?

Thanks

Hi to evreyone! So recently I bought a brand new Lenovo Z710 (i7-4700mq, intel hd 4600 and nvidia gt745m). I then installed windows 8.1 (genuine) and all the drivers on the cd that came with the machine. But it seems there is a big problem with the graphics card. Nvidia gt745 seems like its not there. The Geforce Experience and nvidia control panel fail to recognize it, although it's there on Windows Driver Manager. When I try to load a game (WOW) it crashes on the loading screen. "Display driver has stopped responding..." bubble appears and a minute or so afterwards, there is a bsod. The game works on the integrated card (intel hd 4600) when nvidia is disabled or its driver is uninstalled.I tried reinstalling the drivers, downloading and installing the recent ones, removing all graphic drivers and reintalling them in different order, tried safe mode, changed some bios settings, but still nothing happened.Could this be any kind of driver compatibility issue or simply a windows thing, or is it a hardware problem? Could the nvidia be faulty or the laptop itself? I want to try anything before turning it back to where I bought it for a look... So your ideas will be vastly appreciated. Thanks!

I purchased my Z710 Laptop 2-3 years ago. Currently I seem to suffer from thermal throttling on both the CPU(i7-4700mq)(85C) and GPU(gt-745m)(75C). I tried cleaning dust from the fan and heatsink but that did not seem to solve the issue. I tried to underclock CPU down to 2.4GHz but still reaches 85C and GPU still throttles as well. So I am thinking of two options:1) Buy a laptop cooling pad and put it under the exposed underside of the laptop and hope that it can cool it down.2)Replace the thermal paste of the CPU and GPU (boy oh boy how sketchy this one is, but exciting at the same time!) and hope for the best? I am looking for your advice on which of these I should choose or if there is anything I am missing? Thank you in advance!

I'm trying to Install Debian GNU/Linux on my Windows 8 Ideapad Z710, and I can't even get my laptop to boot from external media. From the InsydeH20 Setup Utility, I've so far disabled Secure Boot, set Boot Mode to UEFI, enabled USB Boot, enabled PXE Boot to LAN, and set my EFI boot order to 1) EFI Network 0 for IPv4, 2) EFI Network 0 for IPv6, then 3) Windows Boot Manager (no other options). I'm not actually trying to boot from a network, I just want to boot from the onboard DVD drive or my USB DVD drive. When I boot with these settings, I get the error: EFI Network 0 for IPv4 (...) boot failed, then a similar one for IPv6, then it boots to Windows. Why can't I boot from DVD or USB? Another thing I've tried is setting Boot Mode to Legacy Support and Boot Priority to Legacy First (with Secure Boot disabled) which results in my laptop booting to straight to Windows even when USB ODD is first in the boot order. Please tell me how to boot to a Linux DVD or USB on this machine! This was major purchase for me, and if I can't install Linux on it, this laptop is totally useless for me. Please respond.

My Lenovo ideapad Z710, after a year of use started telling me the battery was not the correct battery.  I thought the battery might have died.  I eventually bought a replacement battery.  The new battery gets the same message.  My wife has a different model but uses the same battery.  My OEM battery does not function in her machine but the new one does.  So it appears that my machine has a problem recognizing the proper battery.  Once I accept the message, the machine boots and runs fine plugged in.  The battery does not charge so I assume the machine is protecting itself from improper battery.  The new battery is a DR.BATTERY Notebook battery with a two year warranty.  When I was shopping for the battery, there were numerous suppliers and of course they all claimed to have only the highest quality that meets or exceeds the original battery specs. Does anyone know a solution?  Could it be a software problem?  I had assumed it was a hardware problem.  The computer works fine as desktop machine, but with no battery it is pretty worthless as a portable.

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your Z710 Laptop is not booting to Windows and displaying initial error, I suggest you to access the BIOS menu and change the first boot device to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and check if the issue persists. To access BIOS menu turn OFF the computer and then press the NOVO button which is located beside the power button and select BIOS utility, then under boot menu change the HDD to first boot device under boot order. Now click on F10 to save the changes.

Do post us back if the issue persists

According to the Dell site, I have two options for upgrading my graphics card.
The ATI Radeon™ HD 3450 Graphics card from Visiontek®. boasts dual monitor suport, and is currently $20 more than the second option. It does not state whether or not it handles 3D. Does it?
The Radeon X1300 256 MB GDDR2 DMS59 PCI Graphics Card from VisionTek® provides 2D/3D, but it has half the memory of the above card.
I want to use Google earth (and other 3D apps), and the AGP card that came in the computer won't handle 3D. Is there a AGP alternative, or am I stuck with using up a PCI slot?
If the two above options are it, will the first one handle 3D? I think it should, but not being a hardware geek I do not know.

A:Graphics card options for the GX240

Without knowing your exact mobo model the Optiplex GX240 mobo can only handle 4xAGP.
1st: The HD 3400 series is 3D, but PCI Express 2.0.
If you're looking for better 3D-gaming performance, plan on spending more than the Radeon HD 3450's bargain price. But if you just want a graphics card that delivers good performance on the Windows desktop and excellent video-playback performance and quality, this card is hard to beat.
2nd: The Radeon X1300 256MB "128-bit" GDDR2 PCI Low Profile Video Card
The first version of conventional PCI found in consumer desktop computers was a 32-bit bus using a 33 MHz bus clock and 5 V signalling, although the PCI 1.0 standard provided for a 64-bit variant as well.
So I ask you where you got your info??

Hi, I'm new to these forums and hardware in general so sorry if I don't know what Im doing. I have a pavillion laptop that I customized the specs for. I've recently wanted to try out games, but the graphics card I have is really limiting. I have 128mb of VRAM so I can't do much, and theres no option in my BIOS to raise it. Is there anything I can do to upgrade this to a dedicated card, or edit something so I can be able to play more demanding games( Almost anything 3D struggles) ? I've passed the point to return the laptop, but im willing to give it in somewhere to have it upgraded (if thats a thing). Heres my specs, if Im missing anything just let me know. I've also looked into overclocking but I have no clue what settings to raise and by how much, and I don't want blow my laptop up. So far the options ive seen involved editing the registry to allow more VRAM, BIOS options, overclocking, and getting an external graphics card. Really don't know what I'm doing so any insight is appreciated. Thank you! Windows 10 Home, 64 bitIntel (R) Core(TM) i7-6500 CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.59Ghz8.00 GB installed RAMIntel HD Graphics 520, integrated

Hi People, We have a Z400 with the series 2 revision motherboard. We're running the current Adobe Creative Cloud Suite and the nVidia Quadro FX4800 is no longer fully supported by Premiere Pro. So looking for a newer card which will work in the Z400. Was thinking of the nVidia M4000 or M2000 but am a bit concerned they might be a bit much for the Z400.  Anyone have any thoughts on whether either will be OK? Power consumption for both is less than the FX4800 so the power supply is unlikely to be challenged. TIA Andrew

Hi, I have an Ideapad Z710 which I purchased about 3 years ago. Started receiving "The battery is weak, and needs to be replaced" message. Is this a fault or a software update required? I understand degradation of the battery is expected, but do I really need to replace the battery? Thanks
