i have got a folder that cannot be deleted i saw many tutorials using cmd i dont know how to use can you please tell me how to delete that folder please

Preferred Solution: just a simple help i know you can solve it please

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Right click and click delete?

What type of folder are you trying to delete??? (System files? Personal Documents?)
You may be running that folder - close the window and try delete it again.

If problem persists, try the posts below.

The problem I have is that whenever I start the computer, I get a window that pops up that is titled "Comcast Reboot Helper" with a MPC symbol in the left corner. The message in the dialogue box says "Please wait while the installation continues. If you have removed the CD, re-insert it now.

I have run Hijack this, spybot, and security task manager and could find no reference to it. I have also looked in boot.ini and startup under msconfig and could not find anything.

ok i was stupid enough to use Cox communication cd and now that cd has taken over my computer, i went in to add and remove programs and took it off however cox is still lurking in my computer for example they changed my internet explorer instead of an E i get cox and they just modifed some of my programs to make it thier isnt that quaint any suggestions on removing those stupid things

A:another simple problem i cant seem to solve

My guess is most likely just have "Cox" branding of IE but it's still IE. Check here in the registry and see what you find.

Start Regedit and navigate to

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

Delete the keys for "BrandBitmap" and "SmBrandBitmap"

Then restart Internet Explorer for the change to take effect.

Here's the situation: I was about to back up my files by transferring them to an external hard drive and was in Documents for that purpose, when I did something that triggered a 'spinning circle' (called a Throbber I believe). I waited for a few minutes but the throbber continued to be there, and the computer continued to do whatever it was doing, so I closed the Windows File Explorer, hoping to start fresh without a throbber. But when I opened the new Windows Explorer the spinning circle was still there and instead of being there for a few seconds--as the green line went left to right across the top and then presenting Documents, Downloads, Music, Videos, etc. when the green line completed its journey, with the spinning circle disappearing as it always does at that point-- the throbber remained, as the green line went 99% of the way across and then stopped.

My initial reaction was to give it as much time as it needed, especially since the words 'This folder is empty' were there, which is always the case when I first open the Windows Explorer for the day, but 'This folder is empty' normally disappears after a few seconds along with the spinning circle, but this time, because it was not completing the process for some reason, the spinning circle remained. I decided to give it more time, but now 'giving it more time' is obviously not enough since that was 20 hours ago! The green line is still there, 99% of the way to complet... Read more

Hey, i am having a problem loading specific videos, and i cant seem to figure out which player it is that won't load so therefore i can't even begin to solve the problem. Here is the info i have including links to specific videos:

When i click on the video it takes me to the page and it shows a big square with an Icon in the corner of a Square,Circle, and Triangle.
Here is a Link to a Video that i cannot play:

I have downloaded the latest version of Macromedia Flash Player, I have Windows Media Player 10, and I just downloaded the newest version of Quicktime, I have the Divx codec, im running Windows XP Pro if that helps at all. I did put in my system specs if you know how to check them out, I don't know how to do that since this is my first time here.

Anyway this is really annoying since it happens on alot of sites when im trying to watch funny videos that people tell me to watch. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello fellow!

I am new to these forums, and have decided to give them a question of my own.

I have a network of PCs of 100+ computers, and have a single file that I need to place on every computer. They all have a single folder shared, which is named exactly the same as the next, so my question is this:

Is there a command that I could use to copy a file from my computer to the folder on each of the Computers on my network, without having to type the command 100+ times?

In a simple way, I am asking this -- Is it possible to do this:

copy "c:\something.bat" "\\*\c:\shared folder\something.bat"

I am sure that we have all had a bit of command line experience, so this command should be pretty easy to understand.

Hello! in dire need of some tech support. So here's the background... I was given a Toshiba Satellite A135 running on Windows 7. I got a virus and tried to DIY reformat. I DO NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL WINDOW 7 CD and was only given a "burnt copy of windows 7" by a friend.. So i searched online, especially utube, searching for how to reformat WITHOUT a cd and decided to follow what this guy said ()... The only FILES i backed up were my movies, music, word docs, and pdf's. So anything "driver" related i didn't back up.

i did the whole f8 thing WITH my friends burnt cd inserted (i dont know if that makes a difference). If you view the utube video, i got to around 2:10 and deleted EVERYTHING. First of all there were 3 disk partion options to select instead of just one like in the video. So i deleted all three because i assumed all 3 were infected. Either way it did not let me progress and i forgot what it said, but it gave me an error window stating something about a missing screen image.

So i restarted the whole thing and just like at 1:48 my laptop gave me the option to choose the OS i'd like to install. From a loooooooong list i just chose the first which is windows 7 Homebasic Activated. I click next, accept the license terms and just like in the utube video at 2:07 i choose custom (advanced). Now those 3 partitions have reappeared. So i chose "reformat" for all 3 (the last partition doesn't allow me to choose any o... Read more

I've been looking all around the internet for 2 months for my answer, yet I haven't been able to do this. It seems simple to me. Why can't I find an answer for this question...

How do you re-format the C drive?

It seems at least simple to me. That's all I want to so. I have two paritions, C and D. C is my system partition, and install Windows XP Pro on it. That's all. In XP setup, it will not let me format it, so to me in theory, I'm at a dead end. So I've installed XP on the C drive three times, all in the same folder, and now it has taken up 10 GB (why?) of space when it only should take no more than 4.

...but everytime I try to encrypt, I'm unable to access the internet.

Just set up a network in my parents' vacation home (they're here about half the time) and here are the specs:

Two desktops: Dell 4550, Dell 4600 (both about 4 years old) running XP
Router: Linksys WRT54g2
Modem: Motorola Surfboard 5101
Adapter 1: Compact USB Linksys WUSB100
Adapter 2: WMP54gx

Spent lots of time calling Bangalore yesterday (Linksys tech help) and was able set up WEP security, but it left me unable to access the internet. I've had to reset the modem twice now and go back to an unsecured network.

Any ideas about why this is happening?

Is there another way to encrypt, perhaps using software or freeware?

Is a bad idea for my parents to turn off the modem/router when they leave town? (It will solve the problem part of the time, but i'd prefer to have a secured network.)

Edited to add: I brought my laptop with me and have been using that to set up the network using a wired connection.

Did you enable MAC filtering when you set up WEP?

If you did you will need to add the MAC for each wireless NIC into the MAC table on the router.

Hey, this is my first post here so I thought i'd make it simple.

I recently just bought a 500gb external HD and I just transfered all of my D drive(111gb) over to it. Now with my D drive cleared I want to install windows vista ultimate on my D, and keep my Xp on My C drive. So I'm asking the steps I need to take in order to Dual Boot my windows XP and my future windows Vista with both on differnt drives.

A:Simple question, want simple answer

This is fairly easy:

0 - Yes, step 0. Make sure you have all the drivers you'll need (motherboard, video, sound, NIC, etc.). Vista should recognize your motherboard/controllers. The rest you can store in a folder on your external drive.

1 - Shut down and disconnect your external drive

2 - Boot to your Vista DVD

3 - Follow the prompts, and when asked where to install, select the D drive. Double check your choice before continuing!

4 - Allow Vista to format it NTFS

5 - Vista will handle the boot loader (where you can choose on power-up which OS to go with)

For the most part, Vista will do everything.

My question is, what is the latest IE version that can be used with SP2 and could someone provide a link to the proper update page from microsoft? Thanks for the help

Hey Guys,

I have been trying to figure out what makes an MPEG-4 file Simple Profile (SP) or Advanced Simple Profile (ASP).... I have no clue.

I know that Xvid and DivX use the ASP, but how do you know the difference between SP and ASP? For instance, how would a person create a SP video instead of an ASP video? What makes each type unique?

I left the home computer for my dad and sister to use, and when I came back in 3 months, this computer was infected beyond belief. I installed Norton Internet Security 2006, XoftSpy, Spyware hunter, Registry Mechanic, and Spybot to root out all the trojans, worms, data miners and key loggers this computer was hosting. Hi and welcome to Bleeping Computer! My name is Sam and I will be helping you. Before we can get started on fixing your problem you must change the location of Hijackthis. It should not run from a temp directory. Download and run the HijackThis autoinstall program Please choose the default location of C:\Program Files as the destination.Run the program only from that location from now on. Hi all,

I want to know that whether the corei3-2100 and motherboard intel DH67VR-B3 support the windows xp,While we upgrading from windows xp to windows 7 which service pack is realy need to install for to work with MS visual studio 2005.

anyone please guide me.....

A:Please help me to solve this

Yes, that board and CPU will more than be enough for Windows XP and Windows 7. If you are upgrading to Windows 7 you will need to do a Custom Install. Note, this will not keep your data, so you should back this up first. Once you have installed Windows 7, install your drivers first (chipset driver first then the others) then go to Windows update and get the relevant updates. Service Pack 1 is the current service pack for windows 7.

If you want a guide for installing Windows 7, we have one here. Just remember to back up your data first.

Do you mean a continuous beep?

Your mobo comes with these beep codes:

1 short: System boots successfully
2 short: CMOS setting error
1 long, 1 short: Memory or motherboard error
1 long, 2 short: Monitor or graphics card error
1 long, 3 short: Keyboard error

Continuous short beeps: Power error

Here it is...I sometimes have problems opening the fax wizard. When I do, I notice that FAX SERVICES (services.msc) shows FAX SERVICES stopping. I dont know why it should be stopping. My solution is to reboot the computer, then the process will show "STARTED", and all is fine. Even if you dont know the answer, how you might FIND the answer wil be valuable to me. Thanks.

Yesterday I tried to install Java, but after finishing I realised that my computer was running very slow and my CPU was 100 % full.
I thought that Java was the problem and I uninstalled it, but the problem didn't dissapear.

Then I thought it might be a virus, so I made a scan with Avast and it found some viruses in C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Secure\Icons\SecureIconsProvider.dll

I couldn't find the first location, I also tried entering and scanning from the safe mode, but I think tht I got rid of the second virus, because I scanned with Malwarebytes, too and that folder disappeared.
I also deleted all the files from the Icons folder, but the problem persists.

I also made several scans with Adwcleaner, TDSS Killer and Kaspersky and I removed some viruses, but the CPU is still 90-100%.

In TaskManger I can see that every time I open my computer, one or two processes have about 40-50 %. Sometimes is taskhost.exe, but it could also be AthBtTray.exe, explorer.exe. I should mention that yesterday the CPU was max 30-50% full, but now it is full since the first boot of the laptop. Also, in safe mode is works fine.

What should I do? How to get rid of this virus? I can't work with the CPU full.

thank you! :)

don't clone your ide drive to the new sata model. hook up the sata model only, perform a fresh install windows and all of your drivers. once that's up and running, add the secondary drive, you'll be able to copy over the desired files once that has been installed.

not all BIOS programs are alike, but generally you'll need to select which hard disk is your primary boot device (select which hard drive the system will boot to first), in addition to putting the hard disk up on the boot order.

sorry, i'm new here so i apologize if this is in the wrong section, move my thread if it is.

i have a older dell computer, upgraded hd, 160gb 7200rpm wd.

recently the computer itself quit working. it will boot on occasion, a lot of the times, the power supply fan spins but nothing else comes on except the motherboard light. (which is green). i tried a different harddrive and a different power supply and nothing changed. the times it boots completely it usually shuts itself off.

anyone, help. i want my laptop back and until i fix my moms computer, she won't give it to me.

fyi: i tried different ram too.

A:Who can solve this one?

Sounds like the motherboard is faulty to me. Do you have a spare cpu to test?

i get this message when i try to install an update of a game i have.

the system DLL user32.dll was relocated in memory. The application will not run properly. the relocation occurred because the dll c:\windows\system32\shell32.dll occupied an address range reserved for windows system dlls. the vendor supplying the dll should be contacted for a new dll.

i have windows xp but im using a program that makes the computer look like a mac, is this the problem? and how do i solve it???
someone please help.

A:what is this??? how do i solve it???

Hello & welcome to TSF,

what it is telling you is that windows is having a conflict with the game and you need to contact the vendor of the game to either get a patch or a fix for the game

and yes the program that you are useing to make window look like a mac could be causing a problem

but check with the vendor first for it may be as simple as downloading a file and installing it

You need to give more info about what your trying to do.
However, instead of double left clicking on a shortcut, if you right click and choose 'run as administrator' -this should work.
Disabling user account control should also stop this appearing.
Its also possible that your user account is a limited one- check in conrol panel/user accounts and check that your account type is administrator.

Our office is having issues with our cloud file service (egnyte). We use excel charts often, and we tend to create links between charts - i.e. a cell from file A is tied to a cell from file B. When the files are on my harddrive, the links between files self-update. When they are stored on egnyte's file server, they don't update.

Would a NAS drive solve this problem? If there were one copy of each stored on the NAS that we worked on directly from the NAS, would the charts update themselves?

Ok we have have a small network with some servers, a user is running windows xp and cannot access the one server, it tells her access denied and brings up a log on. Funny thing is they have full security rights and share rights, and if the log on to another computer access is just fine. So it must be the computer right? not nessesarily, i logged onto the computer and it worked just fine for me. so what it seems like is that it is a combination of their log on with the computer.

just a few notes:
she is set up as an admin on her machine
its windows xp
server is windows 2000
nobody else has this problem i am aware of
can access other servers and resources just fine

Working with a helper from another site who was helpful but still havn't resolve the issue.
My daughter gave me a Sony laptop that she couldn't deal with anymore it is extreamly slow. With help from the last forum it seems to boot up quiokly but as starts bogging down after signing in. The cpu usage is always at 100%. There has not been any update on this computer for years, I'm in that process now but it been running now for about 14 hrs and looks like it going to run for quite some time. Yesterday I was able to load Spy Bot and found 34 infection that were cleaned. I did find in their start up list some items that I have doubts about. Also ran Panda Scan 2.0 and found 34 infected files an 492 supicious file showing c:\program files\temp infected with webserch but the computer shut down before I was able to save the log.
Start up folders:
and several Wlnotify.dll's with sub titles
My daughter hasn't locate where she but the software for this unit. And there is alot of info that I would not want to lose by reformatting
Hope someone can help

Thanks in advance

Hi there

I have loads of problems with my computer, and I was hoping for someone of you could help me with this.

1. This is the main problem, probably this is causing most of the others too, and it is like following:

Since I upgraded my computer with 512 extra RAM memory (have 2x256 and 1x512 now), this scene has started to occur:
I am sitting at my desk and chatting with some friends and maybe listen to some music, but suddenly, the **** goes like BOM (no sound...) and the screen goes black and the computer dies.
Then the hard drive (I think) begin to make a noise, just for one second or so, and then it starts like normal.
This happens like once a day one day and once in 10 minutes another day.

Ok, the main thing is that i suspect the RAM memories can't "talk" with each other and they don't know which of them that should do what.

I guess there are no way to solve this problem, but if there is, I would be glad to hear it!

Ok, nr. 2 then:

Since my computer is kinda old, the "best" game I can run is counter-strike 1.6.
When I play this, first, it's always kinda laggy. Mostly I have about 30-35 processes running while surfing and stuff (all of them less than 10mb, most under 5)
Though, while playing a game I always turn most things off, including virus protection (have windows defender running 24/7) and by then i have like 270mb RAM taken (before game) and counter-strike takes about 110, which makes it 380.
When I'm playing, it do... Read more

Okay so I know there are alot of threads on this but literally none of them have helped me resolve my problem. My windows 7 64 bit is showing that I have 6GB of ram (yet only 4gb useable)...

I checked the 'resource monitor' and there is 2 gb reserved for something and I would like to know why and how I can unreserve it. I downloaded a program called CPU-Z and checked that my full 6GB was getting recognised and it is.

I have seen on other forums that one solution would be memory remapping. I then found out that on my Gigabyte X58A-UD3R mobo, there is no memory mapping feature in the BIOS. So now im kinda stuck and dont know what to do, its just really fustrating as I would like to utuilise the full 6GB of ram.

MY specs just incase....

Windows 7 64 bit
i7 950
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
Radeon HD 5570
3x2gb DDR3 corsair RAM CMX6GX3M3A2000C9
2tB Raid 0

Please someone help

A:6 GB RAM (Only 4GB useable) - How do I solve this?

Go to system configuration, click on boot tab, then click advanced options, then under maximum memory un-tick box. Click OK and apply out out it, a reboot will follow. Then check it.
