Q: T560 and Dock Ultra ThinkPad Power Button Led

Hello everyone, that's my question:I put the notebook on the docking stationg (lid shut). I push the docking's power button and the notebook turns on (obviously everything's working fine). The only thing is that the led of the docking is totally off, while I guess it should be green as the notebook power button is.Is the power button supposed to be green or this is the normal behaviour? The notebook firmware is the latest one (BIOS LENOVO N1KET19W (1.06 ), 10/03/2016).ThanksGiovanni

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, Everyone. Got me a nice little x270 to replace my old x201.  Happy enough with the machine, but getting it connected to my accessories (monitor, keyb, mouse, ethernet) is a bit of a chore. This machine appears to have a "proper" dock port on the bottom.  Is there a compatible ultradock available for the model 20HN x270?  By proper - I mean, Not USB.  A nice dock I can simply drop the machine into when I'm at the home office.. Thanks!

I have a new T560 (20FH002JUS) laptop which I am trying to use with a Ultra Dock and Dual 27" Dell Monitors both using Displayport connections. When I have the unit docked I cannot set both monitors to 2560x1440 resolution. One monitor will only max out at 1920x1080 while the other is able to scale all the way to 3840x2160. No matter what cominbation I use, the first will not go past 1920x1080. I've updated all drivers to most current, tried the windows and intel display tools with no luck. I have an older T460 laptop as well which I can dock to the exact same setup and it has no issue doing dual 2560x1440 so I know the dock and monitors are functioning properly.  Help

We have a client of ours that has a T560 and a Lenovo Ultra Dock.  The problem is that when the laptop is on the Ultra Dock the laptop will enter sleep mode in about a minute or maybe 2.  I have all the settings to a minimum of 10 minutes everywhere and if it's not on the dock it works fine.  Both the on battery and on ac power options are set the same.  Have tried different configurations to no avail.  I have tried several online fixes that I could find for power/sleep issues with Lenovo laptops but none of which have fixed it.  Windows power settings and Lenovo power settings are set the same.  I have no idea where the laptop is even getting the idea to go to sleep at the 1 minute mark. Am I missing something here or what could it be?

Hi, I am looking for some help, I have a T450 that has been working away on a Thinkpad Ultra Dock with no issues, then all of a sudden it will not charge while docked!! Take it out of the dock and charge directly and it works fine, I tried replacing with a new docking station the exact model but again it does not charge the laptop while in the dock, I have switched out the battery and it is still the same. I have fully updated the BIOS etc and still have the same issue, I tried updating the Ultra Dock firmware but run into issues as the firmware update will only run while docked and also has power, but as the laptop is not detecting power I cannot proceed , I tried updating out of the dock but it does not proceed either as it cannot detect the docking station. Everything else works via the docking station HDMI, USB, DVI, Ethernet  all working perfect, has anyone came accross this issue?

I have a W541 and it always worked well with the dock and dual external monitors, that is until the firmware was updated by Lenovo System Update to the Latest Version: 2.33.000 about a week ago. Now when you boot the laptop in the dock, the post shows on the two external monitors then they go black and seem to disconnect as the power saving icon shows on both monitors. If you undock the laptop at this point and immediately re-dock, the two monitors light up and no more issues. While this isnt a huge issue, it is very annoying since it always worked properly before the update. Any suggestions on a possible fix are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi,  I'm using a Lenovo P51 with M2200 graphic card and have a docking station 40A2. I wish to connect the two monitors to my docking station, one is VGA cable and another one is HDMI. When I dock my P51 to the docking station, the monitors could not be detected. I tried to configured my bios setting to discrete graphic setting but nothing changed. Try to put shared on dock display also but nothing works.  When I connected one of the monitor HDMI cable to the laptop directly without going through the docking station, it works perfectly but I could not connect the VGA cable monitor to the laptop without a converter and it defeat the purpose of having a docking station.  Anyone encounter this problem and has a solution for this problem?

I can't figure out how to make this work.I also tried this setup:Monitor 1 - laptop screen - works.Monitor 2 - VGA out to VGA in - worksMonitor 3 - HDMI out to HDMI in - worksMonitor 4 - DP out to HDMI in via a DP-HDMI cable.  - doesn't work. Incidentally in this configuration, when I closed the laptop screen this monitor worked.  Also on a related note, the Nvidia Quadro P500  is sitting idle as the Intel UHD 620 is doing all the work.  How can I control this? Thanks for any suggestions. Sal

A:Thinkpad P52S Ultra Dock and 3 External Monitors

As stayed in PSREF, P52s supports up to three independent displays. Laptop's screen includes in this limit, meaning you can use two external displays at that time. When you close the lid, you can use three external displays. To use more, you'll need some sort of USB adapter to increase such a limit. Regarding other question, you can't disable Intel GPU - it's always active and it's always controls screen output. NVIDIA's dGPU can be configured to be used in selected applications, making them to work with higher performance. P52 and P72 for sure have an ability to disable Intel iGPU, giving the control of screen output to dGPU. Probably P1 and/or X1 Extreme have the same feature too.

Yesterday, I updated my T450s and, among other updates,I updated the Ultra Dock 90W firmare to version 2.29.00.  Afterward, when the laptop is docked, with the cover shut, and I try to power up the unit, it won't do so.  When I open the laptop in the dock, the power indicator is green and there is a green light on the function key.  No matter what I try, the machine won't power up after this.  If I force it to shut down and then try to power it up open instead, it powers up normally and both the laptop screen and the attached monitor work and, if I close the cover after, the attached monitor still works.  Obviously, I can use the machine docked with this work around, but I can't figure out why it won't work when I try to poweer it up closed.  I subsequently updated to version 2.30.00 and the behavior continues. What am I missing here?

I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad Ultra usb 3.0 dock (40A8) with two 1080p monitors (HDMI + DisplayPort). Using the display on the laptop as my third monitor. I have my USB mouse and keyboard plugged into the dock as well as headphones and gigabit ethernet. I also have a second gigabit ethernet dongle plugged into one of the usb ports on the dock. The dock is paired to my Thinkpad P52 workstation. My issue is that while I'm working my display will freeze (mouse, keyboard still responsive on laptop monitor). Then I'll hear the USB disconnect sound, my screens will go black, then they'll come back a few seconds later as if everything is normal. My network connection drops momentarily as well. At first this was just annoying but I've recently moved over to a soft phone and now this causes big problems. When the dock 'restarts' I lose my audio connection to the phone and the brief network connection drop causes my call to drop. I've tried all the basic stuff such as updating the DisplayLink drivers to the latest, turning off USB selective suspend in power settings, using a different usb port. Is this problem specific to my dock or is anybody else experiencing this issue?

I have a Thinkpad W540 with a Lenovo Ultra Dock Docking Station (40A20170US). A:Unable to connect to 3 monitors to Ultra Dock (Thinkpad W540) in Advanced Mode BIOS Setting

So I fixed the issue for myself and just wanted to post in case somebody else had the same issue.  I took the following steps to fix the issue:[Background: BIOS is in "Standard" display mode to begin with; I had already updated the docking station's firmware first with a program called fwdphb03.exe and then with Lenovo's update utility.]1) In Windows, I uninstall drivers for the Intel Graphics and K1100 dedicated card.2) Restart, go into BIOS, switch to "Advanced" mode under the Display tab.  I also have the option selected to start up on the docks in the BIOS Display tab.3) Booted into Windows (8.1) and it looked like the Intel Graphics drivers were automatically downloaded. I then ran Lenovo's System Update utility to get the latest video drivers.  Under the optional tab in the Lenovo update utility, I selected the "Optimus" drivers and hit download/install.  It installed, and I had to restart.4) Booted into Windows again, ran Lenovo update utility again, and again it had a video driver to install when I checked for updates.  I installed that, had to restart again.5) Booted into windows, checked screen resolution and saw that no external monitors were showing.6) I then decided to get a driver straight from the source.  Downloaded: the following file from  Nvidia: 334.95-quadro-notebook-win8-win7-64bit-international-whql.exe.  I ran the installation, it did a "Clean" installation with everything checked off. I purchased the Thunderbolt 3 Dock with my Yoga 920 as it was listed as an accessory during my Yoga 920 purchase back in November.  I finally got around to setting it up and I can't seem to get the power button the dock to turn on my laptop.  The button glows white when my laptop is plugged in but the button will not turn the laptop on.  I have my power button option in Windows set to "when i press power button while plugged in, the laptop will go to sleep."  So even while the laptop is connected to the dock via USB-C/thunderbolt and the laptop is on, when I push the power button the dock, it doesn't put the laptop to sleep either--it does nothing. Googling around, I see there is a newer dock called USB-C dock and it's listed as compatible with the 920 whereas as the Thunderbolt 3 Dock is not listed as compatible.  Could this be the issue?   I also have thunderbolt software installed and it detects the dock in the software. I need some help please!

Mock me if you like, , but...  Figured I would share, so others might benefit? There are a few flavours of AC Power issue out there (some bad 170W Power Supplies, some Lenovo Battery Manager issues, etc.), but if you are greeted with the warning on your W520, and are using a true 170W Power Supply, stop and check the Power Supply plug connection IN to the dock. I know sounds ridiculous, but...  First, given the slotted construction of the 170W Power Supply connector, NEVER force anything!  But, once you've lined that up, are sure and slid it in to the dock, at that point, make SURE that it's really fully seated in to the connector!  PUSH it to ensure! I've been having the issue, and finally realized, on my setup, there is an extra "hump" you have to push the connector past. (How long have I had this machine?  FACEPALM!)  If you plug it in, it will work, but give errors and be problematic on charging.  Once you FULLY plug it in, that problem goes away. I think it's a function of the middle pin not being fully and properly seated - so a test was failing (making it think it was a 90W supply?). And a PS for folks: The original dock for the W520 was the "4338-30U (eSATA)", 170W. I can report that the "4338-35U (USB 3.0)", 170W DOES in fact work with the W520. Sadly (as I expected), no, you don't get another USB 3.0 port on the back of the dock.  It de-rates to a USB 2.0 port, but that port does work -... So, I have a following HW:- ThinkPad T560- ThinkPad Pro Dock 90W (40A10090EU)- 2 external identical monitors (Eizo EV2436W) Currently I am trying to use 3 screens:1. internal on the laptop with resolution 1920x1080 @ 60Hz2. external monitor connected to Pro Dock using DisplayPort with resolution 1920x1200 @ 60Hz3. external monitor connected to Pro Dock using VGA with resolution 1920x1200 @ 60Hz Internal display is okay, unfortunately for the external displays, I can set 1920x1200 only on 1 external monitor by default & 1920x1080 for the other one. When I use tool from Intel for managing the displays, I am able to set the custom resolution for the 2nd monitor to 1920x1200 but the image is blurry (I bet you to come and try to look at it at for 5 minutes). Based on the dock specification I can use only DP+VGA or DVI+VGA and both setups should be able to support 1920x1200 on both monitors. What I tried:- turning everything on and off - update of graphics card driver- update of dock driver- DVI+VGA and DP+VGA (blurry image on VGA)- DVI+DP (not working at all) I bought Pro Dock based on the documentation here, so I expected 2 external monitors at 1920x1200, but I can achieve that only when the second monitor is not connected to dock, but directly to laptop using MiniDisplayPort-DisplayPort cable, but that ruins the whole purpose of having a dock. Any help highly appreciated!

I recently got my new X1 Yoga and had to realize, that it wont wake up after the screen goes dark by pressing the power button. Only pressing a key on the keyboard made it wake up, which is a total pain in the ass in tablet mode, as having to fold it back completely defeats the purpose of having a tablet. After some investigation I found out, that this only happens when runnning on battery and it seems to be a regression, since it's only not working with BIOS 1.29 and 1.30. I've tried downgrading to 1.12 and it works, still working in 1.27. Any suggestions?

Hi all, I have a new ThinkPad E460, day old. One thing I noticed is that the power button has a small circle in the middle of it, however on pressing it, the small circle on the power button does not light up to a green light, like on the other ThinkPads. So my question is, is this supposed to light up to a small green light or is the abscence of the small green light normal behaviour. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

A:ThinkPad E460 Power button light

it is normal, there is no led under power button
