Problems with accessing amazon.co.uk and amazon.com

Q: Problems with accessing amazon.co.uk and amazon.com

I'm not sure if this is the right place to come to for this. For the last few days, I have not been able to access amazon.co.uk or amazon.com. My housemate (who I'm on the same wireless network as) can access it on his computer, but when I try on mine, I just get redirected to my Sony Vaio google search page saying it can't find it. I've done three scans for viruses etc and got nothing. I've reinstalled IE7 and all that's changed now is that when I try and access amazon, it now comes up as Cannot display page, so it's not even redirecting me to the Sony Vaio google seach page anymore.

I know amazon isn't down as my housemate can get it. Can anyone suggest what's wrong here? To me it's very bizarre and has never happened before.

Preferred Solution: Problems with accessing amazon.co.uk and amazon.com

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Okay im having problems with Amazon.com, in that it just wont open. I don't know why and its not blocked or anything. It wont work in netscape or internet explorer. And it doesnt work with firefox either. Took off the firewall and that doesnt work. Closed the virus checker and that didnt do it either. Im not sure if maybe the virus checker is still "working" when its been closed. Im only suspicious of the virus checker because I installed that this year and thats the only thing I can think of thats changed since I was last on amazon. Im using avg free if that helps anyone to help me.Heres a link to a picture of what happens when I try to open amazon.com in internet explorer.http://au.geocities.com/absolutely_james/amazon.jpgI have tried clicking the box to use TLS 1.0 but that doesnt affect it and I dont have an option for PCT 1.0.For firefox I get an alert that says: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact www.amazon.com"For netscape I get "there was no response. The server could be down or not responding."

A:Problems With Amazon.com

Hi lordjames
AVG shouldn't be interferring. At least I can't think of why it would.
You could try turning off the resident shield before you close it just for the heck of it I guess.
Did you just notice this today?
It's possible it's just a temporary isp problem since none of your browsers can get there and as far as you know right now, it's just that site. Amazon's been accidently blocked by some isp's before.
This is a stretch and I don't really expect it to work but put amazon in your trusted sites list in IE.
Close the browser and reopen after doing so. Try again in IE.
If your using any spyware blockers, hosts files, etc, check those too.
Is there a router in this picture?

Hello. For 2 days, I have been trying to purchase something from Amazon.

Everything is fine until you get to the page where you PAY. It freezes, a round circle with arrows keeps on twirling and twirling and nothing is happening. My payment is not going through, nor is it even asking what method of payment I want.

Amazon no longer has an 800# Customer Support line, and you're supposed to go to amazon.com/contact. Even that doesn't work, the page freezes on me. I have the right account number and name. I just ordered from them 3 weeks ago and that went fine.

Something messed up my computer 2 days ago, I lost and recovered my desktop background, my fonts are now back to normal (Windows XP, Toshiba Laptop 2005), and I have had no problems logging to other websites and paying utility bills.

[I did change my Internet Security to "enable" instead of "prompt" to not get those security warning boxes, I am wondering if that has anything to do with this problem?]

PROBLEM is just with Amazon site. Has anyone ever had this problem? Is there an easy fix? Easy, as in I'm a computer moron.

A:Solved: Having Problems with Amazon online

You already messed with your IE settings here:

You have several, major system issues, and you'll probably be picking at them for weeks. Banging on the keyboard does not cause font, browser, security, etc. issues. It's possible you did some real physical damage.

If you don't want to reinstall Windows or run a Linux live distro for a while to rule out hardware problems, I suggest you install and use another browser.

Not sure if this belongs here or under browsers. Not sure where to put this... For the past 11-12 months, I get timed out trying to connect to Amazon about 50% of the time, whether I'm going there directly, am moving around within Amazon, or trying to go there from a google search result. This occurs with four browsers (Opera 12 and 15+, IE11 and FF31), can happen at any time of day or night, whether or not cache/history are cleared, and whether or not my router is hooked between cable box and desktop computer (Charter cable). All the browsers are excluded in CIS (Malwarebytes doesn't seem to apply in that regard). When it happens, I'll switch browsers and usually one of them will connect - or maybe not. If one does, it will go well for a few minutes then a link won't load. So I switch back to another browser and maybe it works for awhile, until it runs into problems. With google searches, Amazon links connect less than 50% of the time. The error messages are phrased differently per browser:
- "Connection closed by remote server" (Opera 12.17)
- "The connection was reset" (Firefox)
- "This page can?t be displayed" (IE11)

This doesn't happen with any other website (that's up), although occasionally I'll get the same hang with a google search result for some other site. When it started last September, Amazon wrote that they had switched systems and everything wasn't right yet. A couple of months later, they said I shouldn't be getting this p... Read more

I just recently switched back to IE 6 after using Mozila and Avant Browser. I didn't want to do this, but had to to use my fingerprint reader, so I uninstalled the other two browsers... Anyways, I have problems now with Internet Explorer.

First, when I go to the Windos Update Page via Tools>Windos Update in IE, the page does go to the Windos Upadate page and it says a scan is in progress, but nothing is happening. How can I make Windos Update actually scan my computer?

Second, at Amazon.com I can't navigate anywhere except the homepage or my account. Any other link I click on, I get a page from Amazon saying the webpage is not a functioning page on the site. Or, if I choose an item i get a message saying I'm running Mozila 4.0 or something like that.

I have also noticed other small things that make me realize something isn't right- like the eBay fonts are wrong and things like that. PLEASE HELP!

New here and was not sure just where this question should be.
Whenever I look at anything on Amazon, for weeks afterward on every site I visit, there is Amazon's ad with a big picture of whatever product I had looked at.
This wouldn't bother me most times, except this is a family computer and it is impossible to keep gift ideas a secret when Amazon emblazons them onto every site anyone looks at.
Is there any way I can stop Amazon following me everywhere I go ?

I have a strange problem. OR, Maybe it's just strange to me. Of all the sites we visit, our computer won't go to Amazon.com. Well, it will go there at first. Then when I click on a second item I get a popup at the bottom of the screen that says "Do you want to open or save ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_2 from www.amazon.com?" Also, "ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_2" and "www.amazon.com" is in BOLD print. To the right of that, in the same box are buttons to "Open" "Save" or "Cancel". This started a couple of days ago and to my knowledge only happens on Amazon. Amazon customer service told me by phone that they are not having any technical problems. Thank you in advance for any help. BTW- Don't worry about offending me by treating me as if I'm computer ignorant, because I am computer ignorant Tim

Has anyone else been experiencing a problem with not being able to log into Amazon.com? after attempting to log in, there is a 2nd log in screen which is asking me to enter my personal/sensitive info (this is other than my email address and password). I have never seen, nor had to enter this, before.
On Amazon's 2nd log in screen, I see this:
"We haven't seen you using this device before. To help protect your account, we just want to make sure it's really you". I have been using the same computer since 2012, so it does not make any sense for me to be seeing that message. and how does Amazon know what I am using anyway? I thought this might be a scam or a hacker ploy, so I ran 6 different anti-virus/trojan/malware/spyware programs (one of which took over 3 hours to run), but none of those found anything in my system (unless the virus is buried down so deep that it can't be found). Amazon is the only site that I can not log into. I am experiencing this problem through Firefox and Internet Explorer, but I also downloaded and installed Opera and Google Chrome just as tests to see if I were to have the same problem, and I did.
I have contacted Amazon 4 times, but the answers I received did not provide any help at all (they were mostly a non sequitur answer).
Am I the ONLY person on earth who is seeing that message? I am at my wits end and do not know what to do (I don't want to buy yet another pc to resolve the issue. plus, it may not resolve it... Read more

Alright, I'm not exactly sure what the problem is. My first guess is I can't enable secure transactions on my wireless network (Linksys).

When I try to buy something on Amazon the site stalls for a sec then it doesn't come up even when I refresh.

Next I try to change the password on my AIM account, that doesn't work either. Or when I try to register a AOL name it doesn't display also.

I am using Internet Explorer v6.026 and Windows XP Home Edition. Linksys 2.0 Ghz wireless router. I also have a problem direct connecting on AIM 5.0, it says I'm behind a firewall, so I go to properties on my wireless network and I go to the advanced tab and it says "Windows can not display the properties of this connection. The Windows Management Instrumentation might be corrupted." Then it says try system restore. And I don't have any restore points, so as hard as this problem might seem, please try and help me. I want my stuff to work.

I think I have to enable secure transactions or take off firewall or something else, not sure.

Thanks for your time.

Hello I am new to this forum and am looking for any help I can find in removing a redirect file that is affecting my website (www.mixtapemix.com). I have noticed the problem after I installed Amazon Associate ads on the site. I have removed all of these ads since then. Here is the actual code of the pop up that I get. Every one of the pop ups asks for the user to

"Complete a 30 second test below in order to access the content below you must fill out a sponsored offer"

The screen shot is attached.

This is the coding:

<iframe src="http://s3.amazonaws.com/premium_/lock.html" width="100%" height="100%" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

I cannot have any of these pop ups occur because it obviously is a HUGE problem with new visitors. Most of the time the user can eventually access the site but that is after being redirected back to one of those types of redirects 10-15 times before it allows access.

ANY help is so greatly appreciated. Look forward to hearing from you.

Thank You,

Quick question - not sure if I'm in the correct forum location though - please move if not.

Do anyone know of any management software that can manage Amazon Z-shops inventory and come back with alerts when product is no longer the lowest priced?

Thanks in advance.

which is the best place?
for me its been amazon for years.

A:Do you guys buy from Amazon too?

Nope, Amazon is rarely the cheapest for computer hardware. Peripherals and consumer electronics sure.

I get most of my stuff from Newegg, Tiger, Microcenter, and the like.

I've been trying to set up an FTP server on EC2 amazon web services. I set up a Ubuntu instance (free option) then connected this to Filezilla client. I can now freely exchange files between any machine and my instance using filezilla on SFTP...

I still have a few questions however..

1) I'm supposed to be creating an FTP server not a client, which I think i've done as anybody can access provided they have the correct details, so does Ubuntu come with a pre-configured server?
2) Is Ubuntu secure? I know SFTP is secure in it's own right but is this hidden server capability secure?

I know the way these questions are phrased show my lack of knowledge, so please go easy on me..

i'm using windows 8, not 8.1 because I can't install it for some reason, and I get these popups that malwarebytes and online scanning seem to have removed, but they return.  they are intrusive popups that look like ads and don't allow me to click on the page or to see information.  how can I get rid of these?

A:amazon popups

Anyone having a problem with there Amazon acct? I could not log in and tried resetting my password to no avail. Then by chance I noticed I had several emails that bypassed my Inbox on Yahoo mail and went directly to my last folder. I then saw that Amazon had noticed unusual activity on my account and a charge of over $700. This is when I tried to change my password; but was not able to do so as whoever had my account was intercepting me and keeping me from changing it. I then received another charge for over $600. I called Amazon and they were on top of this and had just froze my account. This is scarry as I do keep my computer in tip top shape and scan for viruses and malware daily.

Any ideas????
