Lenovo G500s - Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation (x64) Boot Loop

Q: Lenovo G500s - Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation (x64) Boot Loop

My laptop suddenly stopped taking inputs from the TouchPad. The cursor was nowhere to be seen. I assumed that there's been an issue with the drivers maybe, considering I got the motherboard repaired today, and I rebooted my system. And now it's stuck in a loop. It starts, asks me for the HDD password, post that the windows logo comes on the screen, then it just goes black for a while and a message appears : Your PC has run into problems. We'll restart it for you. I've done it 10 times now, and I'm getting more and more frustrated with each passing moment and each reattempt! What can I do about this?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

No, you cannot upgrade from the Windows 8.1 Enterprise 90 Day Evaluation to a full version of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. The excerpt from the
Windows 8.1 Enterprise 90 Day Evaluation page states under Activation and Usage Guidance:

Following the evaluation period, you will need to replace the operating system on your test computer and reinstall all your programs and data. It is not possible to upgrade the evaluation to a licensed working version of Windows 8.1 Enterprise. A clean installation
is required.

And now I have a watermark on the most right bottom side of the screen that says: "Windows License valid for 90 days".
What that means? Why did I get this watermark? Will Windows become invalid, locked and unusable in 90 days? If yes then why? I got it for free. What should I do to remove this watermark and make sure that I have this Windows forever?

A:I have just installed Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB Evaluation

Uhh...gee...Erez: think about what evaluation means. Try it for a while and if you like it, BUY a real copy. When the timeline runs out, you may be able to rearm (restart the 90-day clock) as many as three more times. But after that, you must uninstall, then reinstall to start another evaluation. It's illegal to convert an evaluation copy into a permanent copy, because it violates Microsoft's licensing terms. 'Nuff said.

Hey everyone, I made a dumb mistake and I really need some help fixing it, if at all possible.

I'm helping a friend with her computer, which came installed with Windows 8 Pro, but it's hard drive went bad. I got her a new hard drive, but when I installed it and grabbed a Windows 8 disk, I accidentally installed the Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation instead...

Now I know in Windows 8, the product key is now stored in the BIOS. Does this mean that her old product key was overwritten with the enterprise evaluation one now? I tried formatting the hard drive and using a Windows 8 Pro disk to reinstall, but when it was installed, at the bottom right of the desktop view it once more said that there were 90 days left on the enterprise evaluation version activation. Is there any possible way to go back to Windows 8 Pro, and have that original product key be detected?

Thank you in advance!

A:[SOLVED] Accidentally Installed Windows 8 Enterprise Evaluation...

1. The installation of the evaluation edition will not have overwritten the licence key embedded in the firmware - UEFI. It cannot do so - that key which is not the product key as we have always known it - is installed in the firmware by the OEM manufacturer

2. My opinion is that you should make the new hard drive 0ne partition of unallocated space - using the installation disc - the install of 8 will then itself partition the drive to create the EFI partition - FAT (not NTFS) from which the windows boots - and hands control to the Boot Manager to complete the process - the MSR partition - the main C partition and the recovery partition - not the OEM install recovery partition but the one from which the advanced boot options etc are accessed

3. I suspect but I have to admit that I am not 100% certain that the problem has been caused by the drive still having partitions on it when the install of the 8 pro was made

Does anyone know if the evaluation copy of Server 2008 that can be downloaded from here:

I have having been trying to download Server 2008 from MSDNAA but the software is hosted onsite and we're apparently having trouble with our servers. I can obtain my product key, but the .iso download isn't working. The link I included seems to suggest that the evaluation copy can be activated with a key without uninstalling, but the rep I talked with at MS tech support didn't think so, but she also said she wasn't "technically trained" and she also seemed to think I was talking about Server 2003, no matter how many times I corrected her with 2008.

I thought I'd give the evaluation a try, but the download is almost 3 GB which will take a few hours, so if someone knows it can't be done in the mean time I can cancel the download. (And then, after downloading it, I will have to actually install it which I don't have time for if it is not going to work... Hello

My Windows 8 Enterprise Edition that came with my Lenovo computer has completely failed, none of the automatic recovery options work, so I need to do a reinstall or repair. All my data is backed up now so Im happy to wipe everything If need be.

I have looked on the lenovorecovery.com and I can order a recovery disk for a £35 'admin fee'. However, being a cheapskate, and also wanting it up and running ASAP, I'm wondering whether I can use the Enterprise Edition Evaluation ISO and do a fresh install.

However, I'm worried though that if I do that I will lose my license and it will actually become an evaluation instead of the licensed Windows that was on there before. Apparently Enterprise edition does not have a product key, it's just sort of built in. Will the evaluation edition recognise that it is already licensed if I do a repair with it, or will it just wipe any trace of the pre-existing license?

Thanks!

I downloaded the Win 8.1 Enterprise Evaluation x64 from the Microsoft website. I then used PowerISO to unzip the files to a folder, and started the setup from there.

The setup began and then restarted (for the first time), and gave an error, that fvevol.sys was missing or corrupted or something like that. There was no way to run the setup after that.

I restarted in the OS I'm currently using - Win 7 Home Premium x64, and then searched the setup of Windows 8.1 for fvevol.sys, but couldn't find anything; I also searched for *.sys, but couldn't find anything at all.

When I was downloading the ISO file from the Microsoft site, my computer had run into some kind of problem twice and restarted on its own, so maybe the ISO I downloaded is not exactly the file on the Microsoft website.

So what do I do?

Also, I want to install Win 8.1 on another partition, but I couldn't see any such option during the initial stages of the installation.

Hi! So I've bought a new laptop along with a builtin (diskless) Windows8; all drivers for the laptop were included also, I think. I've been using this for about 2 months now and even upgraded to 8.1. Yesterday, after I logging in to windows, all I got was a black screen with a movable mouse pointer. (my stupidity impulse starts here) After searching for workarounds, I decided to download the Windows8.1 Enterprise Evaluation OS from windows and used (burned the ISO file to some CD and used that for booting) it to fully reformat my laptop then afterwards, revert it back using my built-in windows.
After I've done reformatting using the Evaluation version, I couldn't manage to reformat again using the builtinOS. I tried restoring windows but it always asked for the CD I used to reformat. Now I have no drivers installed, my OS expires in less than 90 days, and I have no idea how to fix this.
Does anyone know how I can use my builtinwindows to reformat my laptop?

A:Trouble after installing Win8 Enterprise Evaluation

What system have you got? Did you make recovery disks or just reformat your drive without making any backups at all?

Depending on your situation you may be able to retrieve your key from the bios and use this to download windows again. Possibly. If not you'll have to ask your manufacturer for disks which you may have to pay for.

What's with all the red incidentally?

I am working on computer for a coworker. He recently migrated a questionable Windows 7 installation to an SSD and started getting BSOD's pretty frequently. He had been wanting to try Windows 8.1 for a while, so I suggested he try the enterprise evaluation to see if it would work for him.

First I attempted to install from a thumb drive and received NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM errors during installation. I tried again with a DVD and received the error once, but was then able to install. All the while I was doing a custom installation and deleting the old volume and creating a new one for the installation.

After the first or second boot to desktop, it BSOD'ed again, but I didn't catch the error code. The last time it happened I recorded an error code of KERNEL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE. This was after installing Nvidia Drivers from the Nvidia website.

I'm suspecting this is some sort of problem with the SSD itself, as it has persisted through the fresh OS installation. I have attached the SF diagnostic tool file.

Thanks for the help!

Good Day! Lots of active discussion, hoping someone can help. I am in a situation where the Windows Safe Boot options are being hijacked by the Lenovo Startup Repair. Startup Repair message is: Windows cannot repair this computer automatically" and only allows shut down or advaned options. After trying all of the advanced options, incl. ChkDsk and MBR repair from command prompt, still does not boot and brings me to Lenovo Startup Repair. Even under Startup Repair, the message is "Root cause found: Startup Repair has tried several times but it still cannot determine the cause of the problem." So, I actually think my computer is fine, but the Lenovo Startup Repair thinks it is broken. I'm trying to just get a regular Windows Safe boot mode working! I'm not sure what is triggering the Lenovo Starup Repair (or how to disable it). I found a similar thread here, but no real option other than backing up data via. command prompt and totally re-installing. I'm hoping for some better options!  (I'm in the process of backing up my data, so in worst case I could do a Lenovo Product Recovery, but I'd rather get it back up and working and avoid all the software re-install.) Any and all help or guidance appreciated!!! Chris

This is what happens every time I try to turn my computer on:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4noqcgeePDwI have tried a battery drain, a system restore, removing every program not pre-downloaded off and booting in legacy mode. Some of these have worked temporarily and allowed me to get into the computer, but then the same thing happens again as soon as try to turn it one again.

Hi So I have a Lenovo B570 laptop that I got just over a year ago. My laptop will start up, and show the little *Lenovo* logo, then go to the *Starting Windows* screen. It takes a few seconds to start the animation, and once it starts, it'll stop, flash a blue screen with a bunch of numbers/letters, and show the *Lenovo* logo again. This time, it'll give me the choice to do a Startup Repair or start Windows normally. If I select start normally, it does the same blue screen thing. If I do Startup repair, it'll start it, then form 5 minutes to 2 hours later it'll say, "Windows couldn't fix the problem." It asks me click finish, and then the whole startup-blue-screen-startup-loop-thing. Now, this problem has happened before, and my uncle was able to fix it, but he moved. Please help

A:Lenovo B570 Boot-Loop

Hi Gosraj,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I?m sorry to hear that your B570 Laptop is displaying Blue screen error when the computer is turn ON, I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:

Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
If the issue persists even after performing Flee Power then resetting BIOS to its defaults should resolve the issue.
Now access the BIOS menu press F2 when the Lenovo logo appears on the screen while the computer is starting up.
Then to reset the BIOS to its defaults click on ?F9? Key and select YES.
Now Click on ?F10? Key to safe the changes that are done in BIOS, restart the computer and check if the issue is resolved.

Hope this helps!!!

Do post us back for further queries.

Best Regards

Shiva Kumar

Hello everyone,  I bought a y510p about two years ago and for the first year it worked flawlessly then one day it wouldnt start up. What would happen is it would try and boot up and show the Lenovo message then go into the novo boot menu and after 1-2 in that menu it would crash no matter what option was chosen and would keep doing it over and over. It also would only do it if the A/C cord was NOT plugged in. If A/C power was plugged in it wouldnt start at all. I gave up on it for about 9 month and it sat in my closet About 3 days ago i tried it again and it booted up fine no problem, did windows updates, restarted multiple times and no problems until today where it shut down and reverted back to what it did before. Any ideas? I am stumped and believe there might still be life in it.  Thanks!

Hi, I have a Lenovo Yoga 211 laptop which I purchased 3 years ago. Two days ago I turned it on, & the Lenovo logo came up as usual, & the little circle, but i never got past that screen. I tried some function keys, & wound up with the screen saying Preparing Your Automatic Repair (or something similar). After a while, the screen went to Repairing Your PC. Then the screen said Repairing Your Disks. This May Take Over An Hour. Over an hour later, the screen said the automatic repair couldn?t repair the disks. I searched Google for answers, checked some videos, wasted $47.00 on some answer site, & now I?m here. Has anyone else had this problem?Thank you in advance for any help!

Hi, i have a Lenovo Ideapad Y510p for about 3 years now. Never had any problems, but today upon returning to my computer, i tried to boot it up, pressing the on button, but nothnig happened. Then i unpluged the charging cable and the computer seem to start up, it brought up the Lenovo logo, then it went straight to Novo button menu, and then everything went black and the computer started booting up on lenovo logo and back to the novo button menu, and it goes on and on, and nothing changes. I had one  chance in the novo button menu, to press Normal startup, and it brought up the automatic repair, and then again it went into the loop cycle again... And the second i connect the power cable to the computer it just shuts down, and doesn't turn on. Have no idea where to start or how to fix this.

My Lenovo T460S was doing a strange thing where it updated the firmware for the wireless device every time I booted it up, so after reading around some other forum posts, I downloaded the latest drivers and installed them. After that, the first time I rebooted, the machine would not respond to the keyboard and touchpad, and the same again the next few times, so I went into the recovery system get it to reset Windows 10 to original state. The machine informed me that reset had failed on 3%, and now it is stuck what appears to be some kind of boot loop, where it shows the Lenovo logo, but then goes blackscreen for a while, before restarting and trying again. Any ideas why this has happened and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

I have a Lenovo G500S and my laptop can't read DVD's. The weird thing is that it does read CD's, but when I insert a DVD I hear a weird noise and then the DVD gets ejected. I tried different DVD's that work on other devices, so the DVD's are not the problem. What could it be?

I've had my Lenovo since December 17, 2012, and have faced some issues before. I recently had the battery and the adapter replaced. A couple of weeks back, the laptop suddenly stopped charging. Here are the details :- Adapter was connected, and current supply was checked using a tester.- Battery was connected properly.- The power and charge light started to blink. I looked for a solution online, and almost everywhere the following steps were asked to be followed :- Shut down the laptop.- Disconnect the charger.- Take the battery out.- Press the power button for 12 sec (some said 15, some said 20-30) to ensure any residual charge is taken out.- Reconnect the charger (not the battery), and see if the laptop gets switched on on power. I followed the steps to no result. Naturally, I went to a service center, where I was informed that the Integrated Circuit on the motherboard was faulty and they'd have to replace it. I said okay, and got it repaired. This was a week ago. Now all of a sudden, the laptop is showing the similar traits. Charger is connected, but it won't charge. Again, the battery and the adapter are new and fully functional. Sometimes, when the adapter is connected, the two lights will blink and sometimes they won't, but the battery won't charge and now my laptop sits dead. What are my options?
