I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Howdy, my brother! This computer is running XP Home SP2 on an Intel Core Duo HP Media Center - but it stopped has booting outside of Safe Mode. http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/sty...fault/wacko.gifI allowed a computer novice friend who had been accessing his Yahoo!Mail acct from a public motel computer where he contracted a virus - without cautioning me - to access his mail from my PC. He says the virus on his Y!Mail is hardware independent - and modeled the behavior he found at the motel - i.e. when he attempts to write a new email or forward one, a script inserts nuisance text in that message. After he experienced that on my pc, web browser windows now run a script which hijacks the Zoom-in / Zoom out control and locks-up at either the zoom in or out (out is worse) because you only see a corner of the raster.I ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware, AdAware, and my installed Avira AntiVir Guard - none of which detected anything but cookies. I installed some new camcorder software which rebooted the system. But after the Windows start-up screen, the screen just goes BLACK and the system is unresponsive. I booted in Safe Mode with Networking, downloaded and ran HijackThis to get log. I ran Dr.WebCureIt - which detected nothing in this mode. I have timely news video for CNN iReports Independence Day coverage which I seek to transfer from my camcorder to edit on this tower - if you would please help me get it back working again. For a while now my computer has been doing this really weird thing o me. It happens most the time on the internet (browser doesnt matter) and my computer will either zoom in all the way, zoom out or constanyl zoom in and out. Most the time I can "fight" my way out of it by hitting zoom in and out on my keyboard, but not always. Does anyone know what this problem is and can help me fix it?

I am not sure what this is called, but we've all seen this on TV (especially on shows like 20/20) where they take a regular picture...and as the picture is zoomed in, the subject of the photo is almost 3d, standing out from the background. How is this done? Is there a tutorial online anywhere?
I like creating photo slideshows and being able to do this would be nice...thanks!!

A:3d zoom? How?

Can't give you a step by step for a particular program, but basically you would start by duplicating the image, then cutting out the main subject.

So you have the original image on the bottom layer, and the cut-out subject on the top layer. If you do nothing else, no one would know that there are two layers, because they are identical except for the missing background in the top layer.

Apply the zoom-blur effect to the bottom layer. Now pretty much anything you do to the cut-out subject on the top layer will make it seem to pop out of the background. Lighten it. Enlarge it a bit. Add a subtle drop shadow. That's what I did to the still image attached. Because its visual properties are now different from the original image in the bottom layer, it'll just jump out at you, and it doesn't take much.

In video you can push in slowly on the cut-out subject, which is I think what they do on the tv programs.

Q: Zoom

Hi everybody

I fell asleep for a couple hours doing homework last night on my computer. When I woke up, everything on my computer is small, almost like it is zoomed out. This includes the desktop, google chrome, the mouse the startup page etc.

I have tried changing the zoom, which hasn't worked, and also going into display settings, where my zoom is at 100% and my resolution is at 3840x2160, however it is not letting me change the resolution.

The computer is a Lenovo Flex 5 running Windows 10

Thanks in Advance

Now this is really, really, really annoying. Default Internet zoom setting is 100% which makes the screen way too small to see. As a result I have to set the zoom at 200%. Well, up until recently I've had no trouble with my new computer. After setting the zoom to 200% it's stayed that way. Now though it's taken to going back to default every 5 frickin' minutes! I had a previous Win7 computer that did exactly the same thing, it kept on resetting to default. Drove me absolutely nuts! Once every so often I can put up with, but not all the time!!!! Can anyone tell me what's up and how to fix it before I completely lose it!

Often when I start my computer my CPU usage reaches 100% even though no programs are running. When I go to reboot it, an "End Program - Zoom In" window pops up and I have to click on OK to end the program for the computer to shut down. It seems obvious to me that this "Zoom In" program is using all my resources but I don't know how to keep it from starting - and it doesn't always start.

My computer is an Acer TravelMate 2300 with an Intel Celeron 1500 Mhz processor and 1.23 Ghz of RAM, Windows XP Home Edition SP2. I have AVG anti virus and run AVG Spyware, Ad-Aware, and SpyBot regularly.

Either search for that program and option to start at boot-up, or this small program will work great to control what starts up; http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml , and select the version that installs into the Control Panel, (listed first), rather than the stand alone version. I find this really helpful as compared to the built in msconfig.exe

Hi there, I've been trying to install my Zoom PCI modem within Winfax pro but Winfax doesn't see my modem.
Has anyone seen this before?

A:Winfax and Zoom DSL PCI

Let me get this straight..

You want Winfax to recognise an ADSL modem for fax calls?
This modem is not a 56k Dial up as well, just ADSL?

If so, no can do.

ADSL runs "over" the phone line / cable, not "through" it.

Fax's operate through the dial-up process and cannot be accessed by ADSL modems.
You need a 56k fax/modem for that, not ADSL.

I would like to add 'Zoom' button to the command bar or menu bar in IE9. Is there a way to do this?

Thank you.

A:Add a Zoom IN/OUT to the Command Bar in IE9

Zoom is included on the Command bar,
Use Alt+VTC when Internet explorer is open,
Right click any existing tool and click on Customize/ Add remove commands,
Zoom is on the very bottom of the list on the left column,
Click on it and Add,
You can move it up if you wish by clicking on the Move up button/ and remove any others by clicking on them and Remove.
Just like to add the Command bar is great if you use the Favorites bar because they can be Combined together so no more vertical screen space is taken up.

From the attached you will see that I have my Zoom Slider ticked and ready for use but for some unknown reason it does not work and is greyed out.

My eyesight is getting worse and I really need to increase the size of the letters on my screen so would be more than grateful if someone could tell me how to get this Zoom Slider working again?? I am using Windows 7 Home Premium with Outlook Office 10

Thank You,

RonBin79 (now 82)

A:Zoom slide

It looks to me like you have the zoom slider set to 10%. What you could try is untick the Zoom 10% in your Customise Status Bar menu. This should return your slider at the bottom RH corner, then try setting the Zoom to 110%.
I use Outlook 2013 & the zoom slide is centred at 100% so moving it to the right increases magnification & to the left decreases it. Looking at your screen shot it seems that the greyed out slider is locked at 10% & not 110%.
Hope this helps.

1) Just wondering if you can set the default zoom in Word.
I almost always use Page Layout View, and I've set this to be the default view on every new document. However, the zoom is always at 70% so I have to increase it every time.
I'd like it to be set as "Page Width" or 90%.
I tried changing it in Normal.dot and saving, to no avail.

It's not a major thing by any means, as I can easily hit Ctrl and roll the mouse wheel a couple of notches, but it seems silly that it can't be set as a default.
2) I often need to use the diacritic letter e with an acute (), especially in MS Access. I know I can insert a symbol for this character, but it's a pain to use the character map, or to search for one I've already entered.
I know that the shortcut key for this character in MS Word is Ctrl+' followed by th letter e, but this is not true for Access or Excel.
Is there a shortcut key set for this, or can I assign the same one as Word uses?

In IE7 you can go to Page. then Zoom, to resize a web page view. How can you do that in IE6?

A:How to zoom a web page in IE6?

When it comes to "wow" factor, Page Zoom is right up there with Quick Tabs.. its brilliant.

Page Zoom can be used not only to increase the size text and GRAPHICS on a Web page, it can also be used to increase or decrease the print size of pages (or parts thereof).

The keyboard shortcuts to manipulate Zoom settings are:

Ctrl + (zoom in)
Ctrl - (zoom out)
Ctrl 0 (set to 100%)

If you have a Wheel Mouse, hold down the ctrl key then spin up to zoom in, spin down to zoom out.

Zoom selection can also be controlled by the the Zoom menu on the status bar.

First of all - Welcome to BC !
Can you give some details of these computers - make, model and so on - it gives us something to go on.
When you say 'the bottom of the page', do you mean the task bar on the desktop, or at the bottom inside one application or another?  I am not familiar with a zoom control on the task bar but a lot of applications, from image viewers through graphics software to MS Office, have a zoom function. But this almost always uniformly expands or shrinks the complete page, text and everything included. And, more to the point, the zoom control goes wherever the designer of the software decided to put it.
