Cant Find Drivers for My CD-ROM Drive

Q: Cant Find Drivers for My CD-ROM Drive

When i first got my computer the drive worked fine, but since the first time i opened it, It stopped working. Anyway I found the problem (the cable had been damaged) and now the computer can see it but cant find any drivers for it.

Under drive properties it says the drivers are not installed code 28

I dont know the manufacturer of it either, the properties just say standard CD-ROM Drive

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I use two hard drives, a smaller one that runs XP and a larger one for primarily storage. I replaced the storage drive...this had been the "first" drive and was labeled c: while the one running XP was labeled d:

I installed the new drive and rebooted. In the process, the volume labels flipped: the primary drive became c: and the storage drive becoming d:

This has thrown Windows into a world of confusion and all previously installed programs show up as uninstalled. They are still there in "program files" but many of them refuse to open, reporting not being able to find .dll files which I can search for and find on the computer.

Is this a registry issue? Is there a way to reconcile it without installing all this software again?

Thanks for any help.

I'm getting a new system, and I want to wipe out Windows 7 and install Windows XP on my old system. I have not actually done anything yet--Windows 7 is still installed--but I'm trying to understand what I need to do.

I don't have a floppy drive, so I want to try the nLite slipstream procedure.

Unfortunately I've looked everywhere I can think of, and I have not found the SATA drivers. My motherboard is an MSI X-58 Pro-E (MS-7522)3.0, and my hard drive is a Western Digital Raptor 300GB 10,000 RPM Model No.: WD3000GLFS. I've looked at the MSI site, the Western Digital site, and the CyberPower site. I've looked in my Windows 7 installation disk. I've made numerous searches on the Internet....I just can't find those drivers, or the .inf file(s).

My PC manufacturer did not send me any floppy disk or CD having drivers for either my motherboard or my hard drive. I have submitted an email to Western Digital customer support, but today is Saturday, and I do not expect a reply before Monday.

Where can I find those drivers? (and the .inf file(s)).

A:I canNOT find the drivers and the .inf file(s) for my hard drive.

Welcome to SevenForums

You should be able to find the driver you need at the manufacurers site under chipset drivers.

Their is no specific driver needed for your hard drive.

Once you have iinstalled you chipset drivers you can install the XP as usual, just insert the disc format and install.

I need to know if anyone can help me find Canon "mf drivers" in my laptop. I am trying to re-install Canon MF3240 printer. It's telling me "an older version of mf drivers exists in this computer. uninstall the older version of mf drivers, and then try to install again." There is no canon folder on my machine anymore. I can not follow the --all programs-canon-mf drivers instruction anymore! Need to manually find it. Please help!

A:How to find and manually delete "mf drivers" from my hard drive?

When such happens with printers...it's often because a process left behind by the uninstall effort...still relates to removed hardware.
I'd take a look, using a Speccy snapshot.

I just purchased a new Dell Inspiron 1545 laptop, it has a TS-L633C DVD-RW drive.

I updated the DVD drive firmware to a version available on Dell's website (original D300, current DW10).

Now every time Vista starts, the "found New Hardware" wizard opens and attempts to install drivers for the DVD drive (which it doesn't find).

The drive functions perfectly, it appears in "Computer", and I am certain there are no drivers that need to be updated.

How do I get Vista to stop nagging me to update the drivers ?

A:updated DVD drive firmware, now Vista cannot find drivers

Are you sure that's the correct firmware for that drive? Check the maker's tool here: SAMSUNG ODD SERVICE

Hi there,

I have an HP Pavilion DV7 2185dx laptop running a freshly installed windows 7 upgrade from windows Vista. Ever since the upgrade my CPU is constantly running at 98-100% all the time meaning I cannot do anything on my PC. After researching a bit online it could possibly be the driver errors I see in device manager?

In device manager I see that I have some drivers missing and all attempts to update these have failed and i've seen other users here post the missing drivers and be directed to the fixes.

Here in that link i have shown the drivers that Can be upgraded but since i don't have the full version i can't get them is there any known drivers for this g61 420 ca HP laptop?

AMD athlon(tm)Dual-Core M320 2.10 GHz
3 gigs ram
Windows 7 Operating System home premium

If i do not update these drivers is it fatal to not having them or can my system work without them.

A:Can't find these drivers

The latest drivers can be got from the HP site here but you need to identify which you need and then download them:

Software & Driver Downloads HP G61-420CA Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)

HP systems typically come with the 'HP Support Assistant' installed. If you run that there is an option to check for and install any latest updates. A much easier option.

If you don't happen to have that assistant installed, it can be downloaded and then installed from the site above.

Hope that helps.

I work at a small church and they have several computers that where donated. They want the hard drives wiped clean and then they want me to install Windows XP on them (they have a licensed Windodws XP disk). They have plenty of system resources to run Win XP. The problem will be getting drivers that work with the hardware. Before I wipe them clean, is there some software I can download that will tell me the hardware inside the computer and lead me in the right direction for drivers for those manufacturers?

I just got a new computer and I believe some drivers are outdated and or have the wrong driver installed.

It is a ThinkPad T410s. When I go to the driver download page and type in the model number, there are so many different drivers that I don't know which ones to download to my computer. How do I know which ones are for my system? Should I just download automatic driver software like slimdriver?

On an unrelated note, when I am typing on the keyboard sometimes the cursor randomly jumps to a different part of the page and it starts typing there. Hoping the proper driver might fix this.

Heres how I identify unknown devices and find system specific driver to replace generic windows drivers
To demonstrate, I'm going to identify the "high definition audio device" on a Dell Latitude that was manufactured in 2006 and isn't supported for windows 7
Attachment 99869Attachment 99870

First open device manager.. the easiest way is just to type it into the search bar
right click on the device in question and select properties
click the details tab, select Hardware IDs, and the first thing you want to is find the 4 digit alphanumeric vendor ID number and device ID.
Attachment 99871

Then go to pcidatabase.com and enter the vendor and device number into the two search boxes
Attachment 99874

Then go back to the your computer manufacturers' site and search for the device.. in this case there isn't to be found at either dell or the hardware manufacturer, but this method works even when your device manager comes up as unknown device, although this won't work for everything
Attachment 99872

Attachment 99875

If you don't find a driver that way, try the hardware vendor's website. CNET.com is also a safe place to check as they have a huge variety of drivers. I usually use them as they tend to have newer versions than are available anywhere else

Nice little app that does run portable from USB, that I do believe still works in 7.

It's not a perfect or finished tool, but does provide a lot of information more easily.

After further reviewing this tool in Win 7. It seems a little inadequate any longer.
Well for newer hardware as mentioned in a below post.

It does appear to be a daunting task to keep the tool updated (which can be done).
But certainly not something anyone really wants to do, i do not think.

So, could be a good tool under certain situations, But otherwise, not worth it on newest hardware.

It's a Chaintech 6WIV socket 370 motherboard. Support is discontinued for it though.

Since it uses an Intel 810 chipset you can get most drivers from Intel.

Download and install drivers 1, 2, and 3 from here: http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scr...e=Windows*+2000&lang=eng&strOSs=19&submit=Go!
That'll cover the chipset, IDE, and graphics.

Sound is a little trickier since Chaintech has dropped the downloads for this board.

Try this Realtek AC97 driver: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/dlac97-2.aspx?lineid=5&famid=12&series=8&Software=True#8Windows

Where can I find Windows 8 Drivers for my PC now?
Note that I have a HP laptop, and HP technicians said they will not provide Windows 8 drivers after a few weeks of Windows 8 launch. I cannot wait for it.
