Format Problem writing audio CD

Q: Format Problem writing audio CD

Hi! I'm having trouble writing a cd in a format that I can use in my car or other cd player to listen to. I downloaded some audio files from the internet and wrote them to CD-but the cd player rejects it (spits it out). The media I used was CD-RW and CD-R but neither one would work with the CDA format. So I converted the format from CDA to mp3, and that does seem to work, but each song has a really long pause before it begins. Does anyone know the preferred format for audio cd's and what software would best convert it. I use Rio's Audio Manager, but that seems limited in options for file types. Thanks for any direction you can give me.

Preferred Solution: Format Problem writing audio CD

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I prefer to burn WAV files to CD. They work in my car and other CD players so I've always done it that way.

I use Winamp to make the WAV files from MP3's (diskwriter plug-in)
I use NERO to burn the CD's
To get rid of the pauses in NERO, I double click the track on the left side and a proerties window comes up and lets you select the millisecond delay between tracks. You can change them all to 0 except for track one.

I recently got an Asus 52x24x52 CD Burner and installed Nero 5.0 which came with it. I have burned a few data CDs properly without failure.

I like to make club music and I wanted to burn a sample CD for some friends to listen to. It consists of 4 songs (20 min total length) and I can seem to burn them onto an IMATION CD-RW 650MB/74Min cd. When I put the cd into my discman (Sony), it would say that no cd was read. When I put the CD into my computer it would read the files and I could play them through the Windows CD Player.

My Question, is it possible the portable cd player I am using itself? or is it the CDs? or something wrong with me burning them? I am totally new to burning music and cds in general. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thx

Sorry - I'm not too familiar with burning CD's. In the past, my son downloaded music files and used NTI CD Maker to create CD's. Although it was slow, it worked fine. Now we switched from dial up to cable modem internet and are impressed at how much faster things download. We also updated Internet Explorer, but then we got illegal operation messages when using NTI CD Maker. Turns out our NTI CD Maker version was incompatible with IE 5.5. I purchased upgrade for NTI CD Maker. I tried creating a data CD-R disk and it worked fine. However, when I try burning several audio files to a CD-R, it gets to a certain percentage (only 4%) and seems to hang. Our CD-ROM is a LITE-ON LTR-16102B (0S08) which is listed as a supported device on the website for NTI CD Maker. Also, I tried closing everything else out before trying to burn the CD.

I guess I'll try contacting their technical support, but thought maybe someone could offer a suggestion. My system is Windows 98, Pentium II, 64 mb RAM.

A:[SOLVED] System hangs writing audio CD's

Be more specific about the music files. Are they MP3 files? Are you selecting ďAudioĒ in the software and dragging the files into the window to be converted to regular audio CD?

Confirm you arenít recording them to a formatted CD.

I have a DJ mixer that houses a very nice firewire audio card. Unfortunately the company refuses to release x64 drivers for it, and it doesn't look like that's going to happen either as they've just discontinued the unit.

I'm a software engineer by trade, and I know with enough effort I can craft my own. Trouble is, it's a whole new field for me to explore and I don't really know where to start. I've read through the Windows Driver Development Kit here:

About the Windows Driver Kit (WDK)

and also read up how windows USB drivers were hacked for the Xbox Kinnect:

Hacking the Kinect - How to hack USB device drivers

both have given me some great ideas, but I don't want waste time barking up the wrong tree, so to speak.

So for those of you that have experience with this kind of thing, can you suggest any websites or books that will get me off to a good start? If I were an x86 Assembly master, I suppose I could simply disassemble the x86 driver .dll that is available for the unit and craft the 64-bit friendly code from there. Unfortunately, I only have real experience with higher level languages.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

A:Need help getting started writing/hacking audio device drivers

Honestly, Id just go get a new sound card... far less headaches in the longrun.

It may sound like a fun project, but put it this way... what do you charge an hour to DJ... now how many hours do you think you will spend creating this driver... do the math... a new high end sound card is $100 USD!

If you really like headaches.... I have a large hammer you may borrow!

Hey guys, I downloaded Windows RC ISO file, there's a readme file that reads "This disc contains a "UDF" file system and requires an operating system that supports the ISO-13346 "UDF" file system specification."

What exactly does UDF mean here? Plus, that ISO has a size of over 2GB, but when I open it using tools like ISO buster and UltraISO, it is shown to have a size of only several kBs. Why is that?

I ventured to burn that ISO file onto a blank DVD using Alcohol 120% ,but when I tried to install it, I was promted no bootable record was found on the DVD.

Can anyone help ?

A:Windows 7 installation CD format problem UDF format

1) When you DL an ISO, you don't need to open it up with UltraISO or any thing else. If you're already running Win7 it has a native ISO image to disc burner. If you're using Vista / XP, grab Alex Feinman's ISO Recorder v3

2) If you want to use a third party tool ,that's fine, but use it on a virgin DL - IOW, ***DON'T*** play with it in UltraISO or anything like that - DL it and burn it to disc.

3) If you prefer to boot off of USB and install it, follow our tutorial: USB Windows 7 Installation Key Drive - Create

I'm looking for help with a problem getting my DVD writer to recognise blank DVDs.

I can read and write CDs no problem and the drive will read already written DVDs(films, software etc). However when I insert a blank DVD the drive just keeps trying to access(green light on drive keeps flashing and drive is spinning) the DVD.

I am using DVD+R discs and have never had a problem in the past.

The drive is an Emprex 16X dual layer reader/writer. I have run the driver update and apparently the drivers are the most recent.

It may something simple or the drive might be just broken, but any help, advice or info would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

I have a Blue-Ray Drive on my HP-G70 120. I am running on WIndows 7. Recently, my blue-ray drive has been disturbing a lot. I wrote to CDs and DVDs before, and it worked fine. Also, I can read from the discs, so I dont think there is a problem with the laser, rather I suspect some problem with the software.

My Problems are:
Clicking on the drive icon says its a blank disc, though the disc is not.
While at other times, ejecting the drive from windows or from the button says "An error occurred while ejecting BD-ROM". At other times it ejects fine.
I burned some files onto a CD that already had 80MB written on it, using BurnAware. Now, after burning, only the previous (80MB) are present there, but no sign of the newest write. Also, it shows "0 bytes free of 80MB" when clicking properties on the drive icon in Windows Explorer.

So How do I fix these problems?

Thank You

I went to burn a cd and my burning program worked fine, supposedly. Uh-huh.
I went to play it, as a double check, and I got 15 -20 seconds of each song on every track and that was it.
I have two cd/dvd drives, different mfgrs. with the same results from either.
I can listen to or rip cd's, no problem but I've tried 4 different cd burners and get the same crappy results.
Is it time to trash BOTH of my CD/DVD drives, Update my already updated drivers, or give my endoctronial systems a ballpeen massage?

I have got a Benq Cd writer(20*10*40). My problem is I am unable to write data Cd's (data from harddisk) of more than 650MB capacity even though the Cd's I use are of 700MB. If I do write the Cd gets damaged. For CD to CD writing I am able to write.

I use Nero 5.5.3 original version ( I have even checked its settings but there was no use) & windows Xp writing software. This problem also had started recently and also only for data CD's and not for audio CD's.

I have got a Pentim 4 system with Windows Xp. 40 GB hard disk and 256MB RAM.

You may need a firmware upgrade for your CD drive, and I'd cruise over to Nero's website and download the update to the current version of Nero, it should be free.

I run a Pentium 4 with XP Professional. It came with Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.2 installed but I've never got around to using Roxio. I can play music CDs OK via Windows Media Player.

Realised I should be backing up my HD and tried to backup onto a CD-R with no joy so tried a CD-RW - no joy. Went and bought new CD-RWs in case the disks were at fault but still no joy.

Eventually found out that the Roxio version that I have can't be used on XP Professional so downloaded Nero 7 Demo. Still getting same messages.

When I try to copy I get a couple of different messages:
"Buffer underrun protection activated" and shows Type of disk in recorder: Empty
"Waiting for disc - Please insert disk to write to"

And previously got "Unrecognised data" and "insufficient space left" but it's a blank disk.

I've tried using Nero to do a quick erase but the Erase option isn't highlighted so can't.

I'm obviously missing something really basic ... anyone any ideas? I've attached aerror log in case this is of help.

Also, do I have to format all new disks before using and, if so, anyone know how to format using Nero 7 demo?

Many thanks.

A:Problem Writing To Cd-r Or Cd-rw

Hi Denise. Roxio and Nero don't like to cohabitate (I found out the hard way). Uninstall both of them for the time being.Download and run XP_CD-DVD-Fix.zip and unzip the contents. Run the EXE file. Reinstall Nero. If this doesn't work you could try using an inexpensive optical drive cleaning disk available at large retailers and computer shops.---------------------------There are 2 ways to store data on a RW disk. The first way is to burn to it like it is a CD-R and then erase the whole disc to reuse it. The other way is to use Nero's InCD driver to format the CD-RW. This will allow you to treat the disc as a 500MB removeable disc in which you can add and remove files and folders in Explorer as if it was a gigantic floppy. Only computers running InCD will be able to write to the disc.

Hi - have you AHCI enabled in the bios? If so it could be the driver Microsoft installs automatically during install - to fix this go to the below site and download and install the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver if you haven't already installed it.
I think its updated with the chipset drivers now, so you could update them firstly, and see if that fixes the problem if not install the rapid storage driver - available on the same support page below.

You could try this microsoft fix if you have the rapid storage driver already installed assuming its suitable :

A:XP SP3 and writing problem in DVD RW

It is XP SP3 that is causing your problem. I have a Sony DRU 710A that stopped working after I installed XP SP3. It would not recognize any blank DVD media with Roxio or Nero. I pulled the drive out and put it in another machine that only had XP SP1 installed. The drive worked great. I then installed SP3 and the drive quit working again. I then uninstalled SP3 and the drive started working again. Microsoft needs to fix this problem. I hope someone can put enough pressure on them to fix this issue.

That is a direct link for drivers for your FN keys. Try it and let me know how it works.

How long has the problem been occurring? If it just started happening, you may try to do a system restore. Make sure all of your personal files are backed up just in case of an error.

A:Best Audio Format

Hi ComputerMan23There are many views over this topic, but i'll throw in my two cents. Plus which bitrate is the best?Personally i like the 192kbs bit rate. I think that 320 is going over the top and means the file sizes are very large and you can only get a small amount of music into a certain space. Also, on the other end of the spectrum, 128 is not enough quality and can break up at higher volumes. The 192kbs is a happy medium in one way.Which is the best format?I prefer Mp3 or AAC. They all perform well, but i use itunes and other such programs which download the files as standard in MP3.Also is the Loseless good too?I don't have too much experience with this, but did try it out for a while. I don't compress my music at all so i wouldn't really know Take a read here. This link gives a good summary of the various compression techniques, and goes into more detail than i could possibly offer. So to recap, in my opinion it should go something like: -Mp3/AAC -192 bit/rate. -Your choice of compression.Hope this helps David

This may not pertain to your problem but have you tried lowering the write speed down a bit? I find that some CD's within the memorex line and TDK line even thought they say 48x compatable or Multi Speed they balk at 700's. Another thought would be to hold your storage down to 650 to 675MB vs all of the 700.

Just some thoughts.

Thanks in advance for help someone might offer!

I have a hunch my secondary drive is dying (been with me through 2 systems/5+ years) and would like to move all the data from it to a CD. Using Easy CD Creator it tells me something about the data being written too fast so it could not be written to the CD.

Any idea that I have a CD/RW problem or something else? I replaced the power supply last night hoping the terrible loud noise would go away (didn't - must be the hard drive), and will try the CD write again this afternoon. But I thought someone might have another idea for me in case this doesn't work.

Happy Saturday!

A:CD/RW problem - writing too fast?

the horrible loud noise is likely a fan clogged with dust and chattering, though it could be the HDD and if it is, you should attend to it before you lose everything.

As for the CDRW, try burning at slower speeds, also check the cables, disconnect them and reconnect them to make certain they have proper connection. Might also be a buffering problem, or it could be a problem with the burning app.

Hello samrat and welcome to TSF !

We'll need more informations. What kind of data are you trying to write ? Did you make sure the file wasn't too big to hold on a DVD ? Were you able to burn other DVD's properly ?

What's the brand and model of the DVD writer and what burning program do you use ?

There's no video driver for Vista or 7 so it seems you're out of luck.

This is a long story...

I had a new Teac CDW and an old HP CDW on my machine.
Both were working perfect with Nero 5.5.
Until I realize that my new Teac W552E had a manufacturing defect. So I removed it and sent it back to the service center.

Now I'm left with the old one. At first the computer said ATAPI uncampatible at every reboot. I connected to the secondary master cable, in place of the new Teac drive, then I changed the BIOS to set secondary master (the HP drive) to Auto and Non-installed to secondary master where the old HP was previousely.
Now, I don't have this Atapi warning.

My HP drive is detected and is able to read CD-R(W) from any application, including WExplorer and Nero.

When I started to burn to CDR-W, Nero shows "HP drive time out" (or something like that), then Nero freeze.
It doesn't seem to write anymore...

I don't think it's a problem of software since it's exactely the same system/config/installation as 2 weeks ago when I removed the new Teac drive.

I'd rather think that it can be a BIOS or a cable connection problem or that the HP drive is dead...

Any suggestion?

hi guys i have encountered with a problem while writing a DVD(data) with NERO

i was not able to change the speed of the DVD writing with nero 6(i even tried 7 n 9) the max speed of writing was always 12x..along with 2x,4x,8x being shown. it shows tht 12x is the maximum... so when i write data in DVD the process starts reaches 1% and a failure message is shown..n the process stops.
i even tried writing at different speeds like 8x.when i started the process its the same result the process was a failure. now the writing speed options are limited to 8x,4x,2x..i wonder where the 12x option has gone!!!!

Please help me guys!!!

Hi folks

I have a horrible problem which is doing my tit in.

I just brought a pioneer dvr109. In the Uk this drive has received good reviews so i decided to buy it. I brought an oem version of dabs.com.

Now when i received this it had a fireware already on which was version 1.19 and i looked on pioneers website and there was another firmware update which was 1.40 which was only released in march. so i updated and it hasnt seemed to have sorted problem out.

The DVD rewriting side seems to be fine.

but for cd-rs i am having problems.

I use TDK cdr80 disks which can burn up to 52X. now i know my drive will only burn up to 40X which is fine, but when i used nero, which is version. I can only burn at 4X.

does anyone know why this is.

I thought problems like these sorted them selves out with firmware, but i dont think it has.

I have tried the same brand but with numerious disks and have had no luck. b4 i did the update i was also using infiniti cdr-80 disks on a spindle. and these would burn up to 32X. but since the update these will only burn at 4X.

can anyone help, is there any issue with this drive, is it my nero version?

any help will be greatly appreciated.
