N 500 423363U has HDMI port, the BIOS is NON-HDMI and it doesn't work

Q: N 500 423363U has HDMI port, the BIOS is NON-HDMI and it doesn't work

I am so confused. Is my Lenovo 3000 N500 4233 63U HDMI compatible? Why it has the port, why the BIOS recommened/installed is NON-HDMI (version 1.10 BIOS 6GET19WW) and why it doesn't work when connected to any Tv with HDMI capability? Should i downgrade to 1.09. I m running Windows 10 since July 2015 and ...this is another issue which probably will force mesoon to go back to Windows 7, the last update installed successful for windows 10 was Sep 2015; ever since, all the updates don't install, don't download sometimes, whatever adivse i followed, no windows update can be installed. Thank you so much Vera

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I've got a gateway DX4680 desktop, and a dell s2409w monitor.

What went wrong –
hdmi connection between computer and monitor stopped working about 35 days after getting the computer.
Had no problems with the hdmi connection between computer and monitor prior to that.
Worked completely fine.

What I’ve tried to fix it:
1)
Replaced the hdmi cable – didn’t work
2)
Got some adapters to test out the hdmi ports on both the computer and the monitor – ran from the hdmi port on the computer with a hdmi-to-dvi adapter into the dvi port on the monitor – that worked.
Used another computer that has a dvi output and with a dvi-to-hdmi adapter into the hdmi port on the monitor, that worked.
So it seems that the hdmi port works on the computer, and the hdmi port also works on the monitor, just can’t get it to work hdmi to hdmi again (it worked fine for about a month, so something has changed, apparently).
3)
Also tried setting the computer to an earlier restore point (date prior to the problem starting) – didn’t work.  The problem started after a window's critical update, as best I can tell.  Thought if the update caused
the issue, then going back to an earlier restore point would resolve it, which it didn't
4)
Also ran windows updates and installed all ... Read more

I have had my X1 yoga for just over a month now and I didn't test the hdmi port until now. To my dismay it doesn't work. It doesn't recognise displays and I have tried different cords and different displays so its not an external problem. I have also updated my drivers and even did a system restore and the hdmi port still won't output. It's most likely broken. What's my best course of action? Could I get a new X1 as the one I received is clearly defective and it's only been a month of usage. Who's to say more things won't break in the next few years?

I have owned my X1 yoga for less than 2 months and recently I tried to output my laptop through the hdmi port and it didn't work. I tested it with different cords and displays, updated my drivers, and even did a software reset and it still didn't work. For a 2k laptop that's supposed to be durable, this is unacceptable. I also baby my laptop so it couldn't have been damaged from my use. If I were to choose I want lenovo to send me a new X1, one that's fully functional. Would this be possible or am I just looking at an onsite fix?

Dear All, I just received and opened the IdeaCentre K450 today (Also to clarify, because I bought it in the UK, it is a UK version of K450). Have things sorted mostly, but only got one problem, which is the HDMI port. On the back of K450, there's a HDMI port. I assume that is the port from Mother board, not the discrete GTX 650 Graphic Card. I tried to connect it to my monitor's DVI port via a HDMI to DVI cable. The monitor sortof recieved signals from the PC within 1-2 seconds (but no display on screen at all. Reason I am saying the monitor kindof received signals is because the LED of the screen flashed from Yellow to Green, which indicates that it actually got some input). But then nothing happened. The DVI ports coming from the Graphic Card worked fine, though, but they are not the HDMI port. What I have done after that:1. Updated the NVIDIA drivier (Gefore GTX 650)2. Downloaded the Intel VGA Driver from Lenovo Support and tried to update the on-board video driver, but it failed and the system complianed this driver is not for the hardware. Though I update the NVIDA driver, it didn't solve the problem. Not quite sure what to do next. My guess is: The integrated video component on the mother board might not work properly? Because I noticed that the HDMI port as well as the VGA port didn't work at all, so I assumed that mother board driver doesn't work properly. But unfortunately the drived I downloaded from Levono didn't work on my P... Read more

A:K450 HDMI port doesn't work

hi tidus_chan,

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

I believe that the computer is working as designed

There are two places where Display may come from,
    A. Built in Graphics
    B. Expansion Cards

The original settings is that a computer will have no (B. Expansion Cards), (Only the A. Built in Graphics)
Once an Expansion card is Attatched, The Built in Graphics will be disabled automatically.
This explains why all ports on your A. Built in Graphics are not working.

The A. Built in Graphics and the B. Expansion Cards will not stay active together.
Regards
Solid Cruver

I've seen a number of computers where the addition of an Add-in Video card automatically disabled the onboard adapter. The only thing that worked to restore the onboard adapter was to remove that Add-in card. You may want to consider getting a different Add-in card that has 2 HDMI ports. Or if your motherboard has 2 PCIe X16 slots get a 2nd matching card.

Hello, I'm essentially re-posting here, as my original post was marked as solved by another poster, when indeed the problem persists.  I've got a Dell external monitor hooked up to my brand new P1 laptop, using the HDMI port on the left side of the laptop.  I'm using an HDMI to DisplayPort cable to connect to the monitor.  I know the monitor (and the port on the monitor) work, because I can plug it into my old laptop and everything works fine.  I've searched around the internet and posted to this forum, and tried the following: -I've got the most up-to-date BIOS/drivers/firmware available from Lenovo.-I've tried multiple cables to take that out of the equation.-As stated previously, confirmed the monitor/port itself works with another laptop.-Tried to manually ask Windows to detect the display.-Turned on screen extension.-Used a paper clip to hit the reset button at the bottom of the case.-Instructed the BIOS to wait 2 seconds before enabling external displays. Just FYI, so that there's no confusion and I'm as clear as possible: it doesn't matter when I plug in the monitor (i.e., it's plugged in during boot or I plug it in after boot), the monitor is not detected by the laptop, and the monitor doesn't see any signal from the laptop. Is there something really simple I'm missing?  Like the P1 doesn't support HDMI-to-DisplayPort?  It seems unlikely, but I feel like I've tried everything I know of to this point and just can't get ... Can you try it from Linux? When I had problems with my V510 with HDMI Audio, I downloaded Ubuntu and booted it from USB. It worked perfect there so I know it was an issue with Windows 10 and Lenovo compatibility. You can even try it without installing it completely, just use it in test mode. This way you can see if it's a hardware problem or something wrong with BIOS or software compatibility. In my case it was solved by a BIOS update after 9 months.

Hello All,

Well this is starting to drive me to distraction and Im hoping theres someone who can put me out my missery lol.

I have been trying to hook my laptop (toshiba satellite pro p300) up to my LCD TV via the same HDMI cable I use for my PS3 but the connector just wont fit. I keep finding all these posts in various forums saying how they cant get sound out the HDMI connection...that would be great, as at least that means they have them connected.

Are there different connections for HDMI? The one I have is diagonal connector but the port on the laptop is more square, and just doesnt fit. So if there isnt a connector, does that mean I have a funky port, on the laptop.

There is also the matter of connection my laptop to my amp that controls the surround sound system. What connection is best to use, as there is no real audio out connections?

Cheers

A:Satellite Pro P300 - HDMI output port doesn't fit

Hi

Can you please tell us what Satellite Pro P300 you have exactly? I mean the exact model number.
Maybe you can also post a picture of the HDMI port. Normally there are no different HDMI ports, all have the same physical dimension.
I?m not PS3 owner but maybe it has a special connector. Have you tried another cable?

Regarding the audio connection I use the normal line out port for my external speakers. Did you test this?

I then went to update the BIOS, but the version I have installed is F35 and what was available was a version F11 Rev A (the confusing part is that the version F11 had a later release date that the F35, by 3 months). Hi there.
I have no other ideas on this issue so im asking for your help.
I recently tried connecting my laptop to a tv to create a xternal display to share movies, tv, pictures with my family and recently moved away from VGA.  So I decided to use my HDMI cable that I usually use for my XBOX 360. Using my HDMI for my
xbox to tv works perfectly, but when I connect it to my laptop, it isn't displayed in the other displays option in Screen Resolution/Other display etc.  It workes sometimes and sometimes it does not.  I went to a radical step of connecting my xbox
to tv and immediately connecting the xbox end back to the pc and it surprisinly worked.  But now I cant get a signal out of it since.  It randomly connects and sometimes it wont work at all.

HDMI requires both a video driver and an audio driver as Windows 7 does not have that built in.  Ensure your video drivers and your audio drivers are up to date.

Hello

I work on my Laptop with 2 external monitors. One is connected via VGA and the other via HDMI. That all worked fine until yesterday where my HDMI monitor couldn't be found.

Things i already tested:
I tested the moitor by connecting it with another computer and it worked (with HDMI), so the monitor can't be the issue.
I also tried an other HDMI cable...didn't work ether.
BIOS is updated to the latest version
graphics driver from NVIDIA graphics card and from the standard intel graphics card are updated to the latest version.

Also a strange thing: when im in the BIOS menu while having VGA plugged in the screen keeps turning black for 1-2 secounds and then turning on again

Would be great to get some tips on what i can do :)
thanks

A:Qosmio X70-A-11Q - HDMI Monitor doesn't work

Hi

Are you able to use the HDMI out port without connecting another additional monitor to the VGA port? Please check this because from my experience it should be possible to use either the VGA or HDMI port.

However, I think the problem might be related to one of the graphic card driver.
Why? Because I think that one video out port would be controlled by one graphic chip.
In case you are using two monitors at the same time (VGA and HDMI) one video graphic card (nVidia or Intel) would control VGA port and the other HDMI port.

I think you should reinstall the Intel display driver.
First of all you should uninstall the installed Intel display driver from the system (do that in device manager). Then you should reboot the notebook. On the Toshiba EU driver page you would find the latest Intel driver v10.18.10.3308
This driver is released for Win 8.1 as well as Win 8 and Win 7

Would recommend you to install this version to fix the HDMI problem

Hi there, I recently purchased a Thinkpad T480s and have a USB-C to HDMI cable that I am trying to connect to my external display. It is made by Uni and was purchased off Amazon, it advertises 60hz 4k and yet the monitor doesnt display. What is odd is that the computer almost half recognizes that the display is there but all the settings to change things like resolution, aspect ratio, etc. are all greyed out. I've installed all the drivers and still no luck. A standard HDMI to HDMI works somewhat fine and displays but the resolution is locked. I'm not sure what I am missing. Its driving me crazy. Hello. I have a problem. A problem I did not have up until a month ago or so. I have a TV screen plugged in as a monitor. However, after some time, about a month ago, microphone stopped working.

At first I've thought microphone went just bust (it's a cheap $5 one and I had it for over 3 years), so I've plugged it in into friend's laptop to check it. Nope, worked there. Keep in mind that at this point I've used my TV as computer screen for over 3 months with no issues whatsoever all the time plugged via HDMI with audio working fine, it will be important soon why.

Next thing was to update sound drivers to newest Realtek ones. Nope, didn't help. So I went googling. Somewhere I've read that HDMI output may conflict with microphone. But it worked good up to this point. Weird. I've decided it's worth to try and disable HDMI out anyway just to see.

Lo and behold, microphone works after disabling HDMI audio. But wait a minute, it worked before without disabling HDMI audio, so what the hell?

Anyone knows any real fix for that issue? You know, any that doesn't involve disabling HDMI audio each time I want to record something? Like it was the case before this started to happen? And without buying any extra hardware, please.

I too did the BIOS upgrade to my ENVY 12t-d0000 which caused my HDMI to stop working.  After several hours with HP chat support and some sort of bios update, I'm still w/out a working HDMI.  I have been expecting an ecalation case manager to contact me, but it's been 40 hours so far (was promised to be contacted w/in 48 hours).  At this point, even though I've been a loyal HP customer for years, I'm VERY FRUSTRATED. Any suggestions on what I can try next?

I just received my X1C7 laptop, I wanted to use it for monitoring purpose. I want to have at least 4 monitors connected (including the laptop monitor), for that, I have bought a Lenovo Powered USB-C Travel Hub which has HDMI/VGA/USB2/USB3/RJ45. This gives me two HDMI. This is what I have connected: to the HDMI of the laptop a Dell P2217H screen.to USB-C the Asus MB16AC screento USB-C  the Lenovo Powered USB-C Travel Hub HDMII can get those 3 monitors working together: Laptop monitorUSB-C Asus MB16AC screenUSB-C HDMI OR USB-C Lenovo Powered USB-C Travel Hub HDMII am not able to use both HDMI and the USB-C together but if I unplug the USB-C screen, I am now able to use two HDMI signal together.  I am on Linux dka 4.19.0-6-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.19.67-2+deb10u1 (2019-09-20) x86_64 GNU/Linux How can I get two HDMI + USB-C monitors working at the same time? My bet is that this laptop does not support 2 HDMI monitor + 1 USB-C Monitor. I haven't tried on windows but is that even working on Windows?I have another USB3 screen Asus MB168B+. It uses DisplayLink driver, it does not have official support for Debian but theoretically, could it work as an extra screen considering I can't use (yet) two HDMI + 1 USB-C screen together.

I have a HDMI adapter that used to work with an adapter although did not use very often.  Then at some point I tried using it and it does not work.   I ordered another adapter in case the one I had was faulty, still it does not work.    Now I read about an update for a lot of the Thinkpads to address a defective USB-C port issue.   I am thinking the Yoga 910 may have a similar issue.  I have read about HDMI issues on the laptops but have not see anyone describe what I am seeing - following is my issue.  After connecting a monitor via the HDM adapter, and I have tried this with TVs as well as computer monitors, when I go to the Intel HD Graphics Control Panel, then go to Multiple Displays window, I can select Clone Display or Extended Desktop.  Under the 'Select One or More Active Displays' it actually shows two displays - builtin and the monitor I am hooked up to.  So it is seeing the monitor connected via the adapter.   But when I click on 'Detect' button, which shows two displays above it, a window pops up saying 'No other display has been detected.  If you do not see a display, verify all the connections and check that the display is powered on'. So although it seems that the computer, in some form or fashion, sees the HDMI monitor in some other sense it is not detecting it.  So I cannot display on the other monitor.  And the monitor connected to the computer indicates it does no... I'm on a HP pavilion that came prepackaged with vista, but reloaded with windows XP, if that helps at all.

Now I've been trying to google this problem. And everyone says go to my sound settings in control panel and change my audio playback to HDMI.

The problem is that option never shows up. It's just my laptop speakers and that is it. Everyone else can seem to fix this problem by doing that. But not me :/

A:Sound doesn't work on TV using HDMI out. Picture is fine.

What is the video port on the computer end? is it DVI or HDMI? If the laptop port (not the TV) is a DVI connector and you are using an adapter to adapt it to HDMI, DVI does not carry sound. You can connect the audio using a cable from the Head Phone jack to RCA. to plug into your TV or stereo.

My machine is fitted with a Radeon 5770 video card. I normally connect to my monitor via the dvi output with no problems. However when I noticed that both the monitor and the video card have HDMI ports I tried connecting with a HDMI cable. The result was a "No Signal" error on the monitor and no video as a result. What have I missed out on here?

Thanks in advance for any help

Cheers

Hi, I've a strange problem with the sound output via HDMI. If my T460 is connected to a dockingstation and my monitor is connected to the station via HDMI cable I've sound output from the speakers. So everything works fine and I can also the monitor as device for sound outpu at the sound options. Then I change only one thing at my setup. I directly connect the monitor with the same HDMI cable directly to the HDMI port of my notebook. The video signal is still transmitted perfectly but the sound is gone. Also the device for sound is gone from the sound options. I've only graphics from the intel on board chip and all drivers are uptodate. I also reinstalled them several times. What can I do to solve this problem? Always use the dockingstation is no option, because I also want to connect the notebook to a TV or so and I can't carry a dockingstation with me all the time. Thanks for help!
