Preferred Solution: computer slowdown please check hijackthis log and suggest

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Hi, my computer is probably riddled with malware but I don't know what is and isn's trojans/malware etc. It suffers from very bad slowdown.

Also, sometimes everything on the screen apart from the background image disappears and I have to shut down from Windows Task Manager. As of this morning the taskbar has stopped working, when I click on anything on it I just get an error sound and I have to start apps from Task Manager.

I downloaded HijackThis and spybot but am unsure how to proceed. Can anyone help? Here is my logfile from HijackThis:

Windows XP Media OSAs of yesterday, my computer started to dog it. Whenever I just move my mouse around, it starts to skip as if the processor is being utilized heavily - doesn't seem to be at all when I check the running processes. I ran adaware and spybot which removed some items. Rebooted and same issue. I also defragged to not avail. Any ideas? Hey Guys

I'm planning on building a PC for sometime now. Ive based in on a smaller budget and have pieced these parts together. I was wondering what PSU I should buy for the parts I plan to use.

Here is a list of the parts - http://www.ebuyer.com/lists/list/119001

For a PSU i'd like to buy one with some headroom so i can add a graphics card and possibly a SDD.

http://goo.gl/ri7qI - GPU
http://goo.gl/IgKVs - SDD

Also any suggestions on how i could improve on the set-up would be great too.

Thanks All - Hope You've have a good holidays

hey ....killer config.got some suggestion if you are interested.first you can get a 250 gb hdd with 16mb buffers 7200 rpm for 99$ from newegg(i think),check out the hot deals section in the forums for the link.what about speakers???if you havent considered it than i would suggest a logitech z640 for a budget pc (provided you can find these) they are great 5.1 speaker for 30-40$ from logitech.your chipset would have hi-def audio onboard but if you've got the cash there is also creative audigy line available for hardcore gamers.by the way what are you planning to use this sytem for??? games, video ediing??.there is also amd processors available 64 bit that might help you lower your budget and give you tons of feature on the nforce chipset.hey you are paying 329$ for a 17"lcd why????you can get a 19" lcd for around that price or 2 crt monitors.imagine how it would feel to have 2 monitors sitting simulatneoulsy and runing half life 2 or doom3.

well these are a few suggestion, post back and tell me what you think.

hi, welcome to TSG.

you need to get Win2000 sp4 and all other patches asap!

go to this site and download these tools and once you get both
adaware and spybot, update both of them.Set adaware to deep scan and
Delete everything adaware finds and delete what spybot finds marked in red.
With cwshredder close all browsers and programmes and select the fix button.

Save hijack this to it's own folder such as c:\ hijack this so that it runs
properly and can make back ups., and click scan then save the log
and post it here so we can take a look at it for you.

All tools can be downloaded at the link below!

. cwshredder
. SpyBot search and destroy
. AdAware
http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloads31.html
Run an online antivirus check from at least one and preferably 2 of the following sites....
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/
http://www.ravantivirus.com/scan/
http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/ols.shtml

make sure autoclean is enabled on the scans

My computer has been doing strange things lately:

First it kept restarting itself and running scandisk microsoft said the problem was related to AOL. I have since reinstalled the AOL software and that problems seems to be better, but not sure if it just hasn't happened again.

Next, my computer has crashed several other times this week and online crash analysis from microsoft have told me several things. One was related to a Memories disc AFS/AFS2k driver, which I have no idea about, but installed some download it recommended to fix it--hopefully I will not recieve that error again.

Now my computer keeps freezing, to the point where I have to hold the button in and turn it off to get the computer working again at all. When I turn the computer back on, it of course runs scandisk, I got some other crash anaylsis yesterday about some driver, but of course before I could fix the problem or save the response, my computer froze again. This has happened like three more times since, but this time with no error logs from microsoft, the computer just starts back up.

I ran spybot, adaware, and a Mcaffe Virus scan all came up clean.
So I thought if no one has any other suggestions why my computer is doing this to me I would post a hijack this log and see what someone more knowlegable might find.

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Do an online virus scan at TrendMicro or RAV Antivirus.

Go to this site to remove WeatherBug.

End the following processes:

Do you know what these programs are? If you don?t, you may uninstall it and remove the following entry:

C:\Niagara\r2.301.330\nre\bin\niagarad.exe

I recommend not putting anything in the Trusted Zone. But if you still want to keep it that way, you may leave the 015 entries alone.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also. ... Read more

I've been working on my fiancee's desktop for the past few days. She's very insistent that I don't uninstall any of the programs in it, so I've updated as many of them as possible. Her 2 teenage daughters do a lot of chatting and on-line gaming. I've run Ad-Aware 2007 and cleaned out over 400 infections. I had a problem with Spybot 1.5.1 losing the internet connection after running a scan with it and cleaning out all the red entries, so I was forced to do a system restore and re-run only Ad-Aware 2007. This is the current log which was run just a few minutes ago. All startup entries, except for AVG and ctfmon.exe, have been unchecked and disabled.

The desktop is a Gateway 500S with an Intel Pentium IV 2.0 GHz processor and 384 MB of PC2700 SDRAM. The hard drive size is 38.2 GB and has 22.0 GB of free space.

Her ISP is Verizon FIOS(2,000 upload/20,000 download). I've currently got it connected to my ISP, BrightHouse Networks Roadrunner(2,000 upload/15,000 download).

I would appreciate any assistance.

Frank

I recently had a very odd person hack my Battle.net (WoW and other Blizzard games) account. Nothing serious happened, but I decided to do a complete check of my PC just to be sure. After running a number of security scans, a friend suggested I round things out with a hjijackthis log here. So far, I've ran complete systems scans with Avira AntiVir, Adaware, Spypot, Malwarebytes and an online scan with Panda. The final few scans found nothing immediately threatening, but a manual check seems a prudent way to round things out. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hello, for a couple of months now I have been experiencing a problem with my computer while running certain programs. Namely 3-d computer games. The program will run just fine for a few minutes, before I begin to experience crippling slowdown and framerate drops, my CPU usage spikes to ~100%, and my entire computer slows down. This will last anywhere from 5-15 minutes before returning to normal as if nothing had happened.

I've tried myself to fix this problem, running virus scanners, bootscans, and malware scanners, updating my video card drivers, physically opening and cleaning my computer. But I'm at a loss. Being no computer guru myself, I downloaded HijackThis, and came here hoping that someone could help.

Hey guys... so I am tired of this BLEEPING computer! lol

I am a photographer, and run Photoshop CS5 daily. lately I have noticed that the longer it stays open the slower and slower it gets, along with my entire computer.

Also, I have noticed that my Windows Mail (which admittedly has thousands of messages) is very slow to load and do anything in. It gets to the point where I'd rather read mail on my iPhone. IS there anyway to archive OLD messages (without deleting them in case I need them) to speed up it's loading? I eventually need to weed through all of the garbage emails and save the rest.

Lastly, I am having a general slowdown. The computer I am on has 4 cores and 4GB of RAM, when I first got it I could have have my dual monitors set up, running an itunes movie on one side and Phosotop on the other, no issue. Now I cannot without lag.

OOPS switched forums.

A:General slowdown - Hijackthis log included

Now that your log is properly posted, here, you should NOT make further changes to your computer (install/uninstall programs, use special fix tools, delete files, edit the registry, etc) unless advised by a Malware Removal Team member, nor should you continue to ask for help elsewhere. Doing so can result in system changes which may not show it the logs you already posted. Further, any modifications you make on your own may cause confusion for the helper assisting you and could complicate the malware removal process which would extend the time it takes to clean your computer. From this point on the Malware Removal Team should be the only members that you take advice from, until they have verified your log as clean. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response because the Malware Removal Team members are very busy working logs posted before yours. They are volunteers who will help you out as soon as possible. Once you have made your post and are waiting, please DO NOT make another reply until it has been responded to by a member of the Malware Removal Team. Generally the staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another Malware Removal Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. To avoid confusion, I am closing this topic.

I want to know what specifications i must choose when buying hardware and parts ? I want to buy only the best ? How much memory i must keep ? i will be using applications like adobe photoshop and flash....etc lots of softwares which consumes memory.

Please suggest your ideas are greatly in need.

My computer simply freezes in the middle of doing anything (and by that i mean surfing the internet). Sometimes i'm listenining to podcasts and a loud noise starts. I don't know whether its a small audio clip looping fast or something else. I scanned for viruses and have plenty of memory space. I'm not even sure if this is a software or hardware problem. Help me out. Please and thank you.

A:Computer keeps on freezing. Would anyone suggest something?

Hi guys,

What book is your suggestion about computer networks/networking? I'm going to read the best book of that topic. I want to read one that is theoretical and also practical to prepare me to be able to go on real world's computer networks/networking.

Thanks.

Hi Daven11 and welcome to TSF

Nothing in this log jumps out at me but perhaps we can run an online scan and see if something pops up.

Perform an online scan with Internet Explorer with Panda ActiveScan

Click on the "Free To Use ActiveScan" located on the top right hand corner Click Check Now and a "pop up" window will appear.*Please ensure that your pop up blocker doesn't block it*
Enter your e-mail address, country, and state & click Scan Now *The download of the 8 MB Panda's ActiveX control will take place *
Begin the scan by selecting My Computer If it finds any malware, it will offer you a report.
Please ignore any entry it finds and the offer to buy the program to remove the entry, as we will address this later.
Click on See report then click Save report
* You needn't remain online while it's doing the scan but you have to re-connect after it has finished to see the report.
* Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan
_________________________________________________

Paste the Panda Scan report here together with a new HiJack This log.

I know nothing about that, but if I did want to learn, I'd start right here in TS by asking questions.
Sure, you can read a book on it, but what happens if you have a question? Are you going to contact the author?
Just my opinion. Good luck.
