Q: Hp envy 360 wont charge, wont use battery power, battery lev...

I bought the laptop used. it appeared the battery wsdead. I bought a new battery. The battery would stay at 53 percent and when i would unplug the charger it would immediatly shut off. i troubleshooted in the device manager and reset the laptop. Nothing happened. I reset a second time and the battery was charging and the laptop would run off battery power. this soon stopped working. I continued to troubleshoot. i got it to charge again and run off battery power but now it will again not run off battery power. the battery is now at 74 percent so i know at some piont charging was happening. this is very frustrating. Iv built a gaming pc jst recently and i feel like i should be able to figure this out. Any help would be much appreciated.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So, my issue that ive looked everywhere for a solution to is this.  I was about to give this laptop to someone and I reformatted the hard drive to clean it up before doing so.  After this I went to dells site and loaded up the drivers for this machine.  All is fine up till this point.  Then I updated the bios to the newest version a12, and all went fine.

Well, later that day I needed to unplug the laptop and go to a different room and It just turned off after I unplugged it.  It wouldnt turn on with battery power either.  Plugged it back in and it loads fine but the battery is stuck on 36 percent charge and says not charging.  Now im getting a message saying the battery needs to be replaced as well, which is *** because I know that the battery was working just fine before this day.  Not only that why wont a battery with 36 percent charge turn on the laptop?  Its got the flashing red battery symbol when powered on with the ac adapter but without the computer on, but still plugged in, the battery doesnt charge or have any lights.

I have already tried the uninstalling of the acpi trick, as well as the taking the battery out while its running, or taking it out purging the power and reseating.  Ive tried all the common tricks to no avail.  Not sure whats going on but I know this battery was good, and it still says 36 percent but wont charge and wont power the laptop on.  Hope someone can help.

Thanks Gary

A:DELL VOSTRO 3500 BATTERY ISSUE (not charging and wont power on computer with charge) HELP!

First check:  make sure the BIOS (F2 at powerup) recognizes the AC adapter.  If it does not, the battery will not charge.
If the AC adapter is not recognized, try another Dell OEM adapter.  If that doesn't solve the problem, replace the DC jack:
http://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=9935
And if that doesn't solve the problem, replace the mainboard.
If the AC adapter IS recognized, but the battery will not charge, unplug the system, remove the battery and hold the power button for 30 sec.  Try again -- if the battery still won't charge, odds are the battery itself is bad.
If the battery is original to the system, it's about four years old - well past its expected lifespan.

Hi, ..... I am new here, please bear with me.  My battery stopped charging, so tried new lead, didnt work, tried new battery, didnt work... did the take the battery out disconnect AC, hold button down for 30secs trick.... didnt work....   LED lights were both white to begin with but after re- booting  I now have a solid orange battery  light. Laptop doesnt start if I take the battery out and just use AC, but I read somewhere that some Lenovos do that..... so .... any ideas as to what might be going on? After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."

Shockingly none worked that I found.

Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.

A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.

To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Worked with an off brand battery also.

Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.

Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!

i have a dell inspiron 1525 when i got it a year ago the battery didnt work... about 2 weeks ago the hdd died so i replace it with a wd blue 1tb the next day the power wire crapped out (the wire wore at the plug) but i was able to take it apart and fix it... yesterday i noticed the battery had some charge (63%) but still if i put my cursor over the icon it says connected but not charging... what would cause the battery to catch a charge after a year+ of not working to it charging then not again?????

A:battery wont charge

Actually, this happens to me on occasion with a similar laptop. Try unplugging the power cord from the outlet and from your computer for about thirty seconds and then plug it back it back in. If it doesn't start working after doing that three times, restart your computer. That usually fixes it for me.

Run the HP Battery health test in the HP Support Assistant. It will read the data in the battery like the number of cycles...like odometer on a car and also the health of each cell. The most likely thing is that the battery needs replacement. They do not last forever.

hello everybody, so i got the star wars special edition laptop and pretty much ever since i got it (early 2016) i have been having on-and-off problems with getting the battery to charge. when i hover the mouse over the battery icon it would say something like 77% available (plugged in, not charging) like what the crap why not? i have restarted and restarted and messed with the power settings and set them to default and plugged it back in and out and ive let it die before and then tried to charge again but no matter what i seem to do it does not consistently charge. sometimes it would charge and make it to 100% and sometimes it would jsut stay at 1% and not charge beyond that no matter how long i leave it plugged in. i have looked and looked online and on the HP forums but i havent seemed to find an aswer to my specific problem. and i really dont think the battery is bad. i got it new and its been doing this pretty much since the first week. please please please somebody let know whats happening here. thanks guys.

Hi,
I am using a HP Laptop, 6314tx. It has been 1 year and 9 months since I am using it. In the past couple of months, I have experienced a battery problem. My laptop battery doesn't charge more than 33%. It was 67% first, then came down to 43% and now 32%. Sometimes, it shows '100% available (plugged in, charging).' But, when I click on the battery icon, it again shows as '32% available (plugged in, charging).'

Is there any solution to this?

Hi guys,  My battery is no longer going above three percent when plugged in. I have a lenovo y40, the warranty just expired last month, and lenovo is not really helping. I'm very frustrated. Everything was fine, until I turned my computer on this morning and realized it wasn't storing power. After reading around on the internet I determined a few things. A) The battery itself is fine, I ran a battery report... and it shows a sudden drop from 97% to 0% to 2%, and then back to 100% in a matter of minutes. Battery Log   < Click to see my log B) I think the issue is primarily a software one, becuase when I disable microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery in device manager my computer still runs for hours at 0% without being plugged in. Anyone else have this issue or know a solution? I'm a college student and I need this laptop to work on the fly for me. It's barely been over a year, and im already having issues.... someone help I can't afford a new lp!!!!

A:Lenovo Y40 Battery wont charge.

In response to customer reports of unexpected battery gauge behavior on Y40-70 and Y40-80 laptops, Lenovo determined the battery gauge software is performing as expected. The unusual gauge results being reported are a reflection of the battery reaching end of life.

Lenovo has released a Service TIP to assist customers with obtaining battery replacements under warranty, or if out of warranty, to find a replacement battery from Lenovo-approved vendors. The Service TIP can be found here: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/solutions/sf16-I0023

The part numbers for Y40-70/80 batteries are:
Y40 SP/A L13M4P01 7.4V48Wh 4cell bty (Y40-70/Y40-80) 121500248
Y40 LG L13L4P01 7.4V48Wh 4cell bty (Y40-70/Y40-80) 121500249 substitute part 121500251
Y40 CP/C L13C4P01 7.4V48Wh 4cell bty (Y40-70/Y40-80) 121500259 substitute part 121500251

To determine which battery came with your Y40 notebook, instructions for removing the bottom cover can be found in the Hardware Maintenance Manual pdf here. An alternate to opening your system (which does not void warranty) is to search for batteries using the model/product number located on the bottom cover.

Thank you,

Hi JOVVVVV,
Are you using the original Dell OEM adapter? When you plug in the adapter to the system, does the adapter stay firm or does it fall off easily? Is the adapter frayed? Is there any damage on the system? Could you test with another power adapter if possible?
Restart the system and press f2 key to enter BIOS - check the adapter status in BIOS with and without the adapter plugged in. Also, wiggle the adapter cable at the end and see if the status changes in BIOS at any point. Check the battery health in BIOS (if applicable).
Restart the system and press f12 key on startup - choose diagnostics. Let it run the diags and if you encounter any errors - make a note of the complete error and report the same to us.

Overview of whats been happening the last week or so: Last week the power button (the black circle part) stop sitting flat, like the spring had stopped being springy but the power on/off function worked until yesterday.  I could not get the laptop to power on, assuming the button was toast I removed the bottom of the laptop, just like I did when I installed the extra drive and added RAM when I first got the laptop.  Finding that the power button was buried to a point I could not easily assess it's viability I closed the laptop up.  This morning I turned on the laptop and only had 2% battery, yesterday I had nearly 70% when I closed the lid and put it to sleep.  no big deal right?  So I plug the laptop in.  it doesn't recognize it is plugged in.  I begin at the wall, changing the outlet, remove and replace in the laptop, power cycle the laptop nothing worked.  I shut down the laptop until I could look deeper into the issue.  few hours later I pull it out again , plug it in and power it up after several attempts it starts up and recognizes the charger.  The laptop was running slow at this point so I rebooted, when it rebooted a popup appeared saying the incorrect power adapter was being used.  sweet I thought, the adapter is toast I will just use my docking station at home.  Come home put it on the dock and the dock does not recognize the laptop is there and the laptop doesn;t see the dock.  well crap.  &... Toshiba Satellite C50-A-156 battery fully died, now wont charge. Turns only for a second before turning off.

The laptop is connected to mains 99% of the time. I took it off the mains and the battery seemingly died completely.

I attached it to the charger, left it for ten or so minutes and tried turning it on only for it to die after a second or two. The light went from orange initially to the usual white, but the white seems duller/dimmer than usual. The fan starts but no response from the display. I tried holding the power button down after removing the battery and the charger but the same result. I've tried starting using just the mains without the battery, same result.

Any guidance would be appreciated as I'm at a loss with a seemingly bricked laptop out of absolutely nowhere, unsure of what the above symptoms suggest. Would appreciate some feedback before taking it to a tech and being charged for being told to buy a new battery/charger. My best guess is it's fried, in spite of the previously quiet and functioning fan or the CMOS is dead and needs replacing.

I've left it it to charge overnight and, fingers crossed, it'll be working by the morning.

Hello all,

I hope someone here can help since i have searched the web far and wide for a solution but nothing seems to work.

Okay so i will tell you what led up to this problem:

I had a friend with an Sony Vaio SVF15A1C5E who from when he bought it had windows 8.1 installed. So he came to me with windows 7 and asked if i could make a clean install with. So i did without any big problems, he had it for like 2 months and everything worked. Then he installed some shitty programs on and it went slow on him. So we had to reinstall windows just to make sure everything was gone.
So i reinstalled Windows 7 without any problems every driver seemed to work but suddenly i noticed that the battery would not charge which i found odd, so i fumbled around with the AC but nothing seemed to work. Then i tried to reinstall the driver for the AC management that was on it. Still nothing seemed to change it. Then i thought okay, i will just reinstall windows 7 once again and it should work. But sure enough it did not work. So i am stuck now and i do not know what to do.

Notice this is a laptop only 1 year old and the battery cannot be taken out so i can try those options people have come up with on other threads. Also i tried to update bios but it says that bios is fully updated. SP1 is also installed.

I really hope someone can help here. Thanks.

Hi all, I recently purchased a 2nd hand Elitebook (Win 7 pro) and it worked fine for a few days until I ran Windows Update... the progress bar just hung and eventually I gave up and shut it down.  The next day the ongoing problem began where it does not power up at all - the power button led glows white continuosly and the battery (lightning bolt) led glows white with amber light blinking continuously. This happens as soon as battery is inserted and/or as soon as ac adaptor is plugged in, whether battery is in or not. The previous owner hasn't been all that helpful, saying it worked fine for months before (of course!) I've searched through all the HP support/forums and done the usual hard reset procedures/bios update/reseating ram/installed HP Support Assistant software/run off different ac adaptor/ and even ran the boot screen system tester which turned up clean - nothing has fixed this. To add to the confusion, leaving the machine rest for a day or two unpowered, enabled windows to boot up normally at times. It has booted up successfully only a few times though and another problem has since developed where the built-in keyboard no longer works - most keys are dead, a few activate 3 letters at once (yet plugging in a usb keyboard works ok!) For most recent attempts at startup (the few times it does get past the static/blinking leds) ... As I understand the HP Envy battery will not charge though you've updated BIOS and calibrated the batteries,

Don't worry as I have a few steps to help resolve your concern:

Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.

Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,

Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.

I saw no signs of life from the screen, nor did I hear my fan, hard drive, or etc.. turn on as I tried to turn on my Ideapad. Furthermore, I tried using the Novo button, and used several reccomended methods of pressing the power button with and without the battery and/or charger, I don't know whats wrong with my laptop! I am capable of assembling and disassembling the system, as I have done it before, but what should I do in this case?

Hello, I have run into a battery issue and would like some assistance. Windows 10 recently started giving me the "Plugged in, not charging" message.  I have been stuck at 11% for quite some time now.  I have done everything I can think of and have, not yet, been able to fix it. After running the POWER COMPONENTS TESTS from the COMPONENTS TEST SCREEN after hitting F2 I am still stuck in the same predicament. I have run the battery test without the AC ADAPTER plugged in and it has come back with a PRIMARY - OK (1) message. Component Test:  PASSED. Battery Details:  Charge Capacity:  100%, Warranty Type:  3, etc.  If you would like a screenshot please let me know. AC Adapter Test:  PASSED, Component Test:  Passed. I have updated to the most recent BIOS version. Still getting the message in the bottom of the screen.  I have also uninstalled both Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery multiple times. I am open to any other suggestions.  To be completely truthful, I am very frustrated with this ordeal. I look forward to your response(s). Thank you ahead of time!

I have started having problems with the secondary battery on my HP Envy x2. I've had it for a couple of months now and to begin with everything was fine. A couple of weeks ago I began to have intermittent warnings when I turned on the Envy. It said that there was a problem with the calibration of the secondary battery and it needed callibrated or possibly replaced. The problem is that even though it says this it sometimes shows that the battery has successfully fully charged and sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't always appear to use the charge sitting in the secondary battery, this is intermittent too. I have been through the battery callibration procedures and although the battery again shows as 100% charge it still says the battery needs callibrated.

OK. Your Envy x2 has an 11-030ea  product name. Follow the troubleshooting procedures on this HP web document. If you still have issues with the batteries \an\or charging afterwards, I suggest contacting HP for warranty service.

My laptop will not charge my battery. I ordered a new battery and when I use my ac adapter to plug it in to charge the white light on the side of the laptop turned orange. The AC adapter will work the laptop fine as long as the battery is not in it, the original or the new one.

The battery for my hp envy ts 15 notebook won't hold a charge. It works fine when connected to the charger but when taken off, will shut down. I've ran a battery test through the HP support assistant and ran a components test. Each one states the battery is ok. But whenever I take it off the charger the battery, which states its at a decent charge, the laptop will instantly die. I also checked the battery number and it is not apart of the recall.

Can you take a screenshot of the battery test? Particularly how many cycles it has registered? And how old is the laptop and battery?
