I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

Hello all, I have a Lenovo Ideapad Z500 taking long time to boot (almost 30 min) The computer is stuck with black screen during 30 min, before the lenovo logo appears and then it boots fine. Before logo, just a black screen and power looks good. The problem, the fans don't work and the computer gets very warm. Sometimes, because the high-temperatures, it automatically switches down, because temperatures, before seeing the lenovo logo. With lenovo diagnosis software I have checked all the hardware, and the tools says all hardware is ok. My os is Windows 10. Could you please, somebody help me to solve this problem? I'm afraid the heat of the start could harm my computer. Why this boot is taking so long before logo? Thank you in advance, ip

Hello All, I've had my Levovo Ideapad for 1.5 years, no problems until recently. Over the past few months when I turn the computer on all I see is a black screen it doesn't go to the Lenovo screen. Sometimes it stays on the black screen for a while and then boots up normally and works fine, sometimes it doesn't go past the black screen. Now the computer doesn't boot past the black screen at all anymore. I've tried the option of taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 seconds, that didn't seem to make any difference. Anyone else face this issue and able to fix it somehow? My warranty is over at this point... Thanks

Hello, I need any help I can get.  I we hvae a Lenovo IdeaPad that suddenly wont boot up.  Was told there was a pop up warning about a battery that needed replaced, but unclear on WHICH battery.  When power button is pressed, the fan starts, runs for 3 seconds and shuts off.  The touchkey lights all light for a second then go out, except fo the volume touchkey.  No sound of spin up on HDD, no flicker on screen.  Have removed battery and tried to start on cord, with same result.  Cord tested good, with a clean 20.6 V  Have heard that dead/faulty CMOS battery can stop some laptops from starting, but unclear on where it is, or even a real possibility.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad z565 wont boot

I have heard that same rumour about the CMOS battery, but I've never seen a real live case, so I'm not so sure that it is true.
Your symptoms are indicative of a blown motherboard, but there is one more thing to try before concluding that.
Unplug the machine, remove the battery, then hold the power button depressed for at least 30 seconds, longer if your finger can stand it.
Then plug in and try to boot up.

Hey guys, I just got a new Ideapad 700-15isk with i7-6700hq, 8GB RAM and 1TB 5400rpm hdd, installed Windows 7 64-bit and I get really slow boot-ups, of about 2-3 minutes and I also have very high latencies (usign LatencyMon), mostly coming from the network, wireless adapter and video card driver.I know that I should not expect a 10 second boot-up from a HDD, but I think that 1 minute should be a decent time.I have tried the following:-Upgrade from Win7 to Win10(with keeping all my win7 data, now I am currently on Win10)-Disk defragmentation-Memtest86(no errors)I am also planning on doing a clean Windows 10 install.Do you know what scans I should perform or ways to find the source of the problems?

I downloaded the program to update the drivers because I assumed it was the drivers. After only being able to do anything in safe mode I booted it up but I couldn't get the drivers program onto the computer because safe mode doesn't let you do alot.  I then decided to just do a reset within the windows recovery program. I pressed save personal documents and reset. Now when I turn on my idea pad it just shows a black screen with the loading circle spinning forever

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Lenovo-Ideapad-100s-change-from-32-bit-...

TLDR: the 100s-11iby has a UEFI only 32-bit BIOS.  Bootable install media has to be UEFI and 32 bit which is a rare combination.

Laptop is running on Windows 10. Yesterday I updated my AMD graphics driver using the update tool from AMD. After all the necessary files were downloaded and installed, I was prompted to restart and I did. Upon restart, the laptop would not boot past the Lenovo screen. The white circles that rotate always freeze and it just stays on the Lenovo screen upon every attempt to boot. I can't enter safe mode or the bios options, what can I do to fix this?  P.S. A few months ago I began having an issue with the sleep mode. When trying to enter sleep mode, the laptop would just shut down unexpectedly and almost instantly. I'm not sure what caused this issue, but I've just been avoiding it by shutting down instead of sleeping. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if the restart was interrupted by an unexpected shutdown.

Dear Members,I am in trouble with my  Idea Pad Z570: I bought it couple of years ago running Windows 7. During the years of usage I had no trouble at all. With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGooner

DId this just suddenly start, or have you change anything recently such as updating/reinstallling Windows or added RAM etc? Can you boot to safe mode by holding down F8 while turning on the System? Have you tried re-setting the BIOS to Startup Defaults? Do you have a Windows 7 System Repair Disk, or can you create one on another Windows 7/8/10 computer?    Note:  If you computer was running the 64-bit version of 7, the Windows 7, 8 or 10 computer you make the CD must also be running a 64-bit OS as well  See Backup and Restore the Control Panel to create the System Repair Disk.    Requires one CD-R If so, you can boot to the Windows 7 System Repair Disk and run System Restore, or Automatic Repair from there

Is the screen completely blank all the time, no text or anything else is displayed at all ?

Shine a light onto the screen and check if there is a faint display of text etc.

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 "black screen in boot up after windows 7 logo"

Sounds like a corrupted file system, so try running chkdsk.

How to run System File Checker (SFC) or chkdsk from the Recovery ConsoleBoot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run SFC or chkdskIf you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above).

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

ok here s the problem.... I got a virus (Anti-vira antivirus, and Windows antivirus 2012) both probably the worst ones I can think of, I used Malwarebites to remove them. however now that they re gone I don't have access to half the system files I use to (namely the task manager, built in windows error scanner, and the "properties" page for My COmputer).

now normally this wouldn't be a problem as I can just use my External HD to backup all the files I want and reinstall windows, BUT this is where the real problem starts, Lenovo 1 touch recovery isn't working, and when I try to boot up from CD I get a error saying the CD drive isn't working. There are 4 options on the Boot up menu (the F12 menu when starting the comp)1 is for CD the other is normal boot and there are 2 others that I don't know the name of. is there any way to fix this laptop without paying 80$ for them just to reinstall windows vista?

and yes do have the boot disk, the Driver disk, and it is a legitimate Windows vista copy, I have not installed any "aditional" hardware exept for the External HD which is "plug and play"

almost forgot, the CD/DVD drive works fine, I was using it to burn some files after the viruses hit my laptop >_>

Perhaps it would be helpful to add that on start-up it is always dim. It is not a case of starting bright and turning dim.

Having installed Ubuntu 16.04 from a USB flash drive, I've made some mistakes while installing graphic card drivers. I decided to reinstall it from scratch and while reinstalling I chose an option to reinstall an already installed Ubuntu and got a notification that Ubuntu will be installed in UEFI mode. Then about half way through the installation process some UEFI related (I don't remember exactly what error) error ocurred and after that the USB flash drive disappeared from Boot Menu. What should I do to get the USB flash drive back into Boot Menu?

Hey I was hoping for a little help with a pc issue i have been having lately. In the past month out of nowhere i have been receiving BSOD reading irql less or equal. I'm running 7 on this laptop and have been running the preview since march with zero hardware issues previously. All of my drivers are up to date as far as i can tell and i never encountered any issues with this before. I have attempted tom isolate the issue but i have not been able to pinpoint the source any help would be very appreciated. My laptop is a lenovo ideapad y530 and i have attached a zip of my last three minidumps.

Hi and welcome

the probable cause of all three crashes is NETw5s64.sys, which is part of your Intel wifi driver;
I would update the driver

also run a system file check.
type cmd in

search>right click and run as admin>sfc /scannow
