I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Are you able to get into the advanced boot menu by tapping F8? It might not be listed on the startup screen but it should still be there.

If not you can burn a repair disc from any PC with Windows 7. Theres steps from Microsoft Here.

If that is a recent photo of you laptop in the BIOS, then that is a very good indication that the error is probably NOT hardware related, so sending it in to Lenovo would likely not resolve your problem.     Furthermore, the error you are seeing displayed is coming from the Window Operating system, and indicates that some important system files needed for Windows to start up properly are either missing or corrupted.     Typically such errors are not fatal, and can repaired or restored fairly easily by running Startup Repair, System Restore or running other recovery tools from within Window's Recovery Environment.  The last resort would be to backup any data you have stored on the SSD, and then Reset Windows to the default state or resetting the system to the factory default sate, all of which your IT person should be able to do. The error message usually would contain more information than just "Recovery  Your PLC needs to be repaired", so any additional 0x00000??? error codes or information you can provide would help direct you in the right direction.  Best of Luck,

Hello All, I've had my Levovo Ideapad for 1.5 years, no problems until recently. Over the past few months when I turn the computer on all I see is a black screen it doesn't go to the Lenovo screen. Sometimes it stays on the black screen for a while and then boots up normally and works fine, sometimes it doesn't go past the black screen. Now the computer doesn't boot past the black screen at all anymore. I've tried the option of taking the battery out and pressing the power button for 30 seconds, that didn't seem to make any difference. Anyone else face this issue and able to fix it somehow? My warranty is over at this point... Thanks

The problem, the fans don't work and the computer gets very warm. Sometimes, because the high-temperatures, it automatically switches down, because temperatures, before seeing the lenovo logo. With lenovo diagnosis software I have checked all the hardware, and the tools says all hardware is ok. My os is Windows 10. Could you please, somebody help me to solve this problem? I'm afraid the heat of the start could harm my computer. Why this boot is taking so long before logo? Thank you in advance, ip

Hello, I need any help I can get.  I we hvae a Lenovo IdeaPad that suddenly wont boot up.  Was told there was a pop up warning about a battery that needed replaced, but unclear on WHICH battery.  When power button is pressed, the fan starts, runs for 3 seconds and shuts off.  The touchkey lights all light for a second then go out, except fo the volume touchkey.  No sound of spin up on HDD, no flicker on screen.  Have removed battery and tried to start on cord, with same result.  Cord tested good, with a clean 20.6 V  Have heard that dead/faulty CMOS battery can stop some laptops from starting, but unclear on where it is, or even a real possibility.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad z565 wont boot

I have heard that same rumour about the CMOS battery, but I've never seen a real live case, so I'm not so sure that it is true.
Your symptoms are indicative of a blown motherboard, but there is one more thing to try before concluding that.
Unplug the machine, remove the battery, then hold the power button depressed for at least 30 seconds, longer if your finger can stand it.
Then plug in and try to boot up.

Hey guys, I just got a new Ideapad 700-15isk with i7-6700hq, 8GB RAM and 1TB 5400rpm hdd, installed Windows 7 64-bit and I get really slow boot-ups, of about 2-3 minutes and I also have very high latencies (usign LatencyMon), mostly coming from the network, wireless adapter and video card driver.I know that I should not expect a 10 second boot-up from a HDD, but I think that 1 minute should be a decent time.I have tried the following:-Upgrade from Win7 to Win10(with keeping all my win7 data, now I am currently on Win10)-Disk defragmentation-Memtest86(no errors)I am also planning on doing a clean Windows 10 install.Do you know what scans I should perform or ways to find the source of the problems?

https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/Lenovo-Ideapad-100s-change-from-32-bit-...

TLDR: the 100s-11iby has a UEFI only 32-bit BIOS.  Bootable install media has to be UEFI and 32 bit which is a rare combination.

DId this just suddenly start, or have you change anything recently such as updating/reinstallling Windows or added RAM etc? Can you boot to safe mode by holding down F8 while turning on the System? Have you tried re-setting the BIOS to Startup Defaults? Do you have a Windows 7 System Repair Disk, or can you create one on another Windows 7/8/10 computer?    Note:  If you computer was running the 64-bit version of 7, the Windows 7, 8 or 10 computer you make the CD must also be running a 64-bit OS as well  See Backup and Restore the Control Panel to create the System Repair Disk.    Requires one CD-R If so, you can boot to the Windows 7 System Repair Disk and run System Restore, or Automatic Repair from there

Laptop is running on Windows 10. Yesterday I updated my AMD graphics driver using the update tool from AMD. After all the necessary files were downloaded and installed, I was prompted to restart and I did. Upon restart, the laptop would not boot past the Lenovo screen. The white circles that rotate always freeze and it just stays on the Lenovo screen upon every attempt to boot. I can't enter safe mode or the bios options, what can I do to fix this?  P.S. A few months ago I began having an issue with the sleep mode. When trying to enter sleep mode, the laptop would just shut down unexpectedly and almost instantly. I'm not sure what caused this issue, but I've just been avoiding it by shutting down instead of sleeping. Not sure if this has anything to do with it, or if the restart was interrupted by an unexpected shutdown.

Dear Members,I am in trouble with my  Idea Pad Z570: I bought it couple of years ago running Windows 7. During the years of usage I had no trouble at all. With Windows 10 beeing released, I upgraded and it starts to make a lot of troubles: Bluescreen directly after boot or sign in, no WiFi, ... all the known stuff. So I decided last week to downgrade to Windows 7. But now, I am even in a bigger trouble:I tried to boot the Windows 7 from DVD and it crashed into Bluescreen saying: Windows Error 0xc0000225Restarting is not helping. So, i tried to go into BIOS to boot from another device, but I do not even get to BIOS or UEFI. So, thats a kind of Deadlock: I cannot boot from Harddisk because Windows Error 0xc0000225 appears and I cannot get into BIOS & UEFI because the Windows error 0xc0000225 comes before getting to BIOS. Hope this description of my current situation is understandable and you guys have a lot of ideas how to fix it. Thanks!TheGooner

I'm guessing it's not but if it's still under warranty send it for repair.

Is the screen completely blank all the time, no text or anything else is displayed at all ?

Shine a light onto the screen and check if there is a faint display of text etc.

Hi, I'm hoping this is the right place, I'm having some problems and I don't know where to turn... I do a lot of work with video, my original computer was too slow so I decided to upgrade the hdd (to 500GB 7200rpm) and add ram. I then took the info I learned from their site down to my local computer store and bought the 4GB Kit. (Corsair RAM suggestions for the Lenovo Y510, I bought the highlighted 4GB Kit)After reading and watching a few things on installing ram it seemed simple enough so I went ahead with it and removed the two 1GB sticks out and put the two new 2GB sticks in.When I started up the computer...nothing happened. The lights go on I hear the fan and feel the hdd spinning but nothing on the screen for me to select. I tried waiting 30 seconds before installing the sticks, I tried alternating sticks, putting in one at a time even. I even put the old sticks back in. Still nothing. Sites say press f2 at start-up, still nothing, and they say press f8 to go into safe mode again nothing. A blank screen. My instruction manual tells me that there is no software to download and that BIOS in the POST process should detect the newly installed ram. What's going on?  Did I blow out my screen??? I know I'm way past the warranty...so I'm wondering who I call/ speak with?  Do I send it in to Lenovo to get it fixed?  How much will it cost ... A:Computer Won't Boot After Upgrading RAM, Lenovo Y510 Ideapad, Windows Vista, 2GB to 4GB RAM

You say the computer experiences the same problem even with the old RAM? If that's the case, the most likely scenario is that you are installing it improperly. You can take your computer to a local computer repair center and ask them to quickly show you how to install RAM. It should be a very quick fix, so don't pay someone to do this. Even a knowledgeable salesperson at a computer store would be able to look at it and fix it. Alternatively, it is possible you damaged both the old RAM and the new RAM (very unlikely, but I suppose possible via extreme static discharge?). Or you somehow damaged the motherboard or other component (I don't see how this could possibly happen, unless you did something incredibly wrong, and even then it would be hard).

A:Lenovo Ideapad Y560 "black screen in boot up after windows 7 logo"

Sounds like a corrupted file system, so try running chkdsk.

How to run System File Checker (SFC) or chkdsk from the Recovery ConsoleBoot your Vista or Windows 7 installation DVD
When you see "Press any key to boot from CD or DVD", press Enter
At the "Install Windows" screen, click on Repair your computer at lower left
At the System Recovery Options screen, make note of the drive letter assigned to your boot drive (normally C and click Next
At the Chose a Recovery Tool window, click on Command Prompt. You will be sitting at X:\Sources directory
Run SFC or chkdskIf you did not note the drive letter of your boot disk, you can enter bcdedit and look at the osdevice line to see what it is.
For sfc, type sfc /scannow /offbootdir=c:\ /offwindir=c:\windows and press Enter (use the letter from above)
For chkdsk, type chkdsk c: /r and press Enter (use the letter from above).

Let either run to completion undisturbed.

I am totally disappointed in Lenovo's customer support. My lenovo 710s was bought less than 1 year ago (as of 10/6/2017, when I sent it in for repairs) and had 2 years warranty (1+1 year of extended warranty). I sent my laptop for repair due to a white spot issue on the monitor, affecting viewing of webpages and videos. However, the laptop was returned after 3 weeks without any fixes/repairs, as Lenovo claimed that it was a cosmetic issue. I wrote a message on their customer care website on 3/7/2017. However, they ignored me and there was no reply to date.  I thought Lenovo is a reliable and popular brand. However, it turned out to be a horrible decision, much to my dismay!

It is reasonable to expect Lenovo to make available a solution as a matter of course instead of end-users of "afflicted" Lenovo devices having to request/search for a solution(s).

Does anyone know the functions of the Lenovo Utility app? I am aware that it flashes up with an on screen symbol when the caps lock or num lock is pressed but what else can it do? I only ask as I want to disable it in order to stop the on screen notification that caps lock is on from appearing everytime I press the key. However I read somewhere that the app also handles the battery management and don't want to disable it if it will harm my pc. When I go into details in task manager it just appears as Lenovo Utility. So can I safley diable it? or will it cause an issue? Thanks

Hello, I need help on my Lenovo Companion app with it's dust removal option. I just bought my Lenovo ideapad 700 for a week now. Previously I had the dust removal option in the Lenovo Quick Optimizer widget on taskbar. After I turned it on, the option never existed anymore in the quick widget and even in Lenovo Companion app itself. Would really love to see this feature again in my new laptop.

Hello, I have the latest windows 10 updates installed. but one day my laptop started to lag. because I usually watch movie and listen to music with my laptop, it ruins my experience of watching and listening. I thought it was because of heavy applications so I used the fresh start tool. and it removed most of my applications and the windows worked properly without any lags until I decided to restart it and again the lags came back. now that I don't have any applications or games that can possibly fill the memory or the CPU, I don't know where the lag comes from. so i'm open to suggestions.thank you

A:Lenovo ideapad 510 help

You didn't need to set the boot mode to Legacy Support, you should install it without legacy support, but install on the UEFI, so next time turn the legacy support OFF, and install the Windows on the UEFI. If you turn legacy off, it automatically should be UEFI
